Lovely location but food and service was appalling. Went afternoon for lunch and ordered fish&chips + chicken wrap . Took 40 minutes to bring to table with 2 reminders! Chicken in wrap is almost like very old... Tastes weird 🤮... Fish in fish&chips was soggy... Batter inside was raw! Everything there afternoon was very slow paced and ! wll not suggest for food there. Just a drink and Njoy the river!

A really lovely pub on the river with a fair bit going for it. Food is decent, but can be a bit hit and miss sometimes. Good selection of drinks available and some decent specials. Can be a little noisy sometimes, but on the whole a very warm and welcoming atmosphere. The view of the river, the lovely design of the pub and the friendly service are definitely top notch.

I am giving 1 star only for the building and location. As for food I would say it had to be the worst I've ever eaten. I figured there would be no chance of getting sausages and mash wrong but no chance. The sausages were as hard as a salami and the mash was re-heated. Greens tasteless and over cooked. On top of that it was cold. Can't give a star for food at all. The gent running the pub was lovely, just a shame he isn't aware of what is going on in his kitchen. Sorry 🫤

Excellent service as always this is about our 7th time in having a meal in here and my god the food is amazing and always piping hot. Chef is awesome as well as front of house staff. Last night whilst we were out having our meal we swap items around and that was not a problem they were really accommodating. After our meal we sat outside and had a lovely chat with Pete and we spoke about the pubs history and he told us a lovely fascinating story. Highly recommend and the team are fantastic keep it up.

so it takes a lot to get a review out of me a place has to be exceptionally good or in this case down right appalling. Twas a busy Sunday in Andover and all food establishments we visited before trying out Town mills were fully booked and had no space for a table of four. we called Town Mills in advance and they said we could pop in for food the first red flag should have been when we walked in and the place was completely empty. we mulled over the menu and decided to order, on the menu it states 'some dishes can be adapted gluten free' as I am a celiac I decided to go to the bar and ask which menu items can be adapted to which i was pointed in the direction of a blue allergen binder on the bar which frankly did not make any sense, basically everything in the binder was ticked for containing gluten even things like a 8oz steak. even more confusing is the beefburger stated it had gluten in it but underneath there was a option for a GF bun, so I asked 'what can I have the GF bun with if the actual burger has gluten in it' he went to the kitchen and came back and said we can do that for you, I was very skeptical but also very hungry.. I regrettably ordered it with a side of curry sauce I also dont think the curry sauce was gluten free but it was definitely not ticked in the allergen binder. we waited for about 20 mins for our food to arrive and when it hit the table I couldn't help but audibly laugh at the state of it, it made Wetherspoons look like fine dining.. one of my friends ordered a 'Giant hot dog' what came to the table was an anemic looking baguette cut in half, not sauced, not buttered nothing about it looked even remotely appetizing with two small cheap breakfast sausages which had been deep fried just sat inside it. everything is evidently fried in the same fryer, everything tasted the same just old frying oil. to add insult to injury my worries about the gluten turned out to be correct and I am now nursing a reaction! we also paid £80 for this privilege for ingredients that could not have cost more than £2 all together... truly truly awful.. places like this just should not offer food. I am sure its a okay bar to have a drink in.

I want to start by saying that the staff were friendly and welcoming. However, after calling ahead about gluten free options they gave us a 'menu' torn form a note pad and written in pen and sharpie. If we had not been fortunate to open the menu or have another member of staff passing by tell us, we would not have known that the food was cooked in the same fryer as the bread/batter etc. So it was gluten free other than being cooked with gluten. We tried to make the best of it and avoided the fryer but the food was not great. I had spaghetti meatballs which turned out to be quite spicy and my wife had gf carbonara with gloopy pasta and gristle bits in. We cut our losses and left. If you are just having a drink, im sure friendly staff can accommodate you but would not recommend eating there.

Andover is the half way point between my sister and I, and my Mum and other sister. I stumbled across The Town Mills on the internet as it was across the road from ‘Clip n Climb’ that we had booked for the kids. We were a party of 14, consisting of 7 adults and 7 kids aged between 5 and 10 years old. The pub is large with two floors and the tables are spaced out nicely. The menu is extensive, reasonably priced and there was something for everyone, including little fussy eaters and vegetarians! The kids menu was great, with lots of choice, ice cream and squash. For the adults, there was a large choice from light bites like jacket potatoes, to heavier meals like stroganoff. The food was plentiful and received well by all. We were especially impressed that the food was served together and hot for all fourteen of us! There were empty plates all round! We even indulged in some of the tasty desserts on the menu! A special shout out to Coleen who couldn’t do enough for us! She went over and above to ensure that we all got the best service, and even was super helpful when we wanted a photo of all of us together outside! A great find! We will be back!

I came in with a few friends for some lunch wasn’t a relatively busy day. The first thing that put me off is when I walked in I heard what sounded like an Irish lady scream slightly and say that there’s a cockroach by the dishwasher which I believe is by the bar. It’s not the first time I’ve been here either. The owners there treat their stuff horribly. Shouting at them from across the bar and kitchen in front of punter. The ones that are left in “charge” when the boss etc is gone it’s clear they just leave all the real work to the other member of staff behind the bar. All in all they hat I’ve heard is disgusting a couple of the girls on that bar have absolutely no problem talking about sleeping with other people husbands etc whilst they’re on the pub and don’t expect anyone to actually hear it. I’ve been there when they have said the wet matts for the bar are covered in ants. Their food is icelands own there is no fresh food made there what so ever even their fresh homemade soup is from a can. As I witnessed them bring it out to someone to show them if that soup would be okay and they’re charging nearly £13. Just awful

Used The Town Mills as our hotel had no restaurant, and unfortunately I was very disappointed. I decided to try the steak suet pudding as its one of my favourites, it came out in good time and was nice and hot, but ended up with a solid block of pastry with little or no filling, a spoonful of microwaved and flavourless mashed potatoes and some very poor vegetables again just microwaved , if it was still the 1980's I might not have been surprised but it's not. My wife went for the hunters chicken which again was totally overcooked and then tried to solve the problem with loads of bbq sauce and cheese, the whole experience was made worse by also having to try and enjoy a meal while being blasted by loud rock music. Overall this could be a nice place but the food needs updating and more freshly cooked dishes need to be added, and think a about the atmosphere a little more.

Visited for the first time on Sunday for a roast dinner. Unfortunately, it was the worst roast dinner I've ever had - raw potatoes, overcooked vegetables and the meat was flavourless and overcooked/ tough (I can only assume it was precooked slices). It looked nothing like the photos I've seen on here. The staff were initially very welcoming and friendly, but we were just given our food (no offer of sauces etc.) and not checked on - so we just ended up paying and leaving to eat elsewhere.
