The barman was friendly enough bit he didn't have a clue how to use the touch screen till and he was extremely slow. We ordered two coffees and bought some muffins. It took 10 minutes for him to find were the muffins were on the till and than ages to be able to pay. We than waited 20 minutes for our coffee, even though he wasn't busy at all, which was disgusting as he had made it way to strong. We were there for about 45 minutes to have one alcoholic drink and two muffins, the two coffees were undrinkable and for that we paid nearly £18. I will definitely not go back there to waste my money.

We had a lovely afternoon here. The food was wonderful, except the roast potatoes were a little underdone, but they made too many and gave us a couple of bowls for free, and they were lovely and crispy! We love the 'pick the music' machine upstairs, as well as the pool tables and darts. Pete and his team were amazing, couldn't have asked for more wonderful people.

My partner & I visited on a nights trip to Andover recently & following a very hellish bus journey beforehand our visit was very much needed! We spotted the pub earlier on in the day & said we would visit for dinner & glad we did 😁 Sure, the place could do with some love like a paint job, tables/chairs could do with some TLC & the inside mill windows a clean etc but the staff & decent food make up for this. All the staff were lovely but especially Emma who was such a friendly welcoming person. She was chatty, good fun & laughed along with my partners humour & our hellish nightmare of a day haha! The food itself was hot, really great portions, great value for what you got & we didn’t have to wait long despite being fairly steady. The whole place had a really warm feel to it. The staff even checked while we had our mains if we wanted pudding because the kitchen was closing shortly which we felt was a nice touch, despite not having pudding. We had the onion rings & fish & chips; both which were done really well & super fresh. Really can’t fault this place & a big shoutout again to Emma for being so amazing, a true credit to this pub 😁 Really hope to return again & fingers crossed it’s had some love & TLC thrown into it when we return!

Called in at 6.45pm ish, for a drink post Carnival, but it was closing at 7.15pm. Don't seem to have regular opening hours, the staff said it depends how busy they are! Also very pricey, £30+ for 2 x beers, 1 x white wine, 1 x malibu and coke and 2 x cokes! Maybe if they lowered their prices and opened longer, they would have a more viable business!

Very very disappointed! Booked what looked like a nice pub with a good menu for my daughter's birthday. She recently moved to Andover from Southampton. I booked the week before for a Saturday evening for seven people. I received a prompt text confirmation all good so far. When we arrived the place looked very nice. We easily found our own table made up for 6, no problem we just added another chair. Shortly after sitting we were advised they have other bookings so we should order as soon as possible to avoid delays. We were still waiting for two of our party to arrive. Then we got to the menu. Well I have to say I have seen more variety on a McDonald's menu. We were then told the has a limited menu on Saturdays because they basically cannot cope. If only that has been mentioned on the confirmation email. We simply would have gone elsewhere. But we made the best of it and ate meals we didn't particularly want which were at best edible. Nothing to write home about. Once we had finished we went to order dessert bearing in mind is is now about 8.30 only to be told by a slightly flustered barman that he would need to check with the kitchen as they were closing. He dashed back as said it ok. So we're ordered. The desserts were the basically thrown in front of us with no spoons, which after requesting were thrust towards us. The staff were not impolite but you could tell they were under pressure and only just about coping . All in all the pub setting is beautiful and the only thing that saved our evening from being spoiled was the two pool tables as we were able to play a few rounds and make it a fun family evening. Definitely not worth the 45 min drive.

I figured there would be no chance of getting sausages and mash wrong but no chance. The sausages were as hard as a salami and the mash was re-heated. Greens tasteless and over cooked. On top of that it was cold. Can't give a star for food at all. The gent running the pub was lovely, just a shame he isn't aware of what is going on in his kitchen. Sorry 🫤

so it takes a lot to get a review out of me a place has to be exceptionally good or in this case down right appalling. Twas a busy Sunday in Andover and all food establishments we visited before trying out Town mills were fully booked and had no space for a table of four. we called Town Mills in advance and they said we could pop in for food the first red flag should have been when we walked in and the place was completely empty. we mulled over the menu and decided to order, on the menu it states 'some dishes can be adapted gluten free' as I am a celiac I decided to go to the bar and ask which menu items can be adapted to which i was pointed in the direction of a blue allergen binder on the bar which frankly did not make any sense, basically everything in the binder was ticked for containing gluten even things like a 8oz steak. even more confusing is the beefburger stated it had gluten in it but underneath there was a option for a GF bun, so I asked 'what can I have the GF bun with if the actual burger has gluten in it' he went to the kitchen and came back and said we can do that for you, I was very skeptical but also very hungry.. I regrettably ordered it with a side of curry sauce I also dont think the curry sauce was gluten free but it was definitely not ticked in the allergen binder. we waited for about 20 mins for our food to arrive and when it hit the table I couldn't help but audibly laugh at the state of it, it made Wetherspoons look like fine dining.. one of my friends ordered a 'Giant hot dog' what came to the table was an anemic looking baguette cut in half, not sauced, not buttered nothing about it looked even remotely appetizing with two small cheap breakfast sausages which had been deep fried just sat inside it. everything is evidently fried in the same fryer, everything tasted the same just old frying oil. to add insult to injury my worries about the gluten turned out to be correct and I am now nursing a reaction! we also paid £80 for this privilege for ingredients that could not have cost more than £2 all together... truly truly awful.. places like this just should not offer food. I am sure its a okay bar to have a drink in.

I want to start by saying that the staff were friendly and welcoming. However, after calling ahead about gluten free options they gave us a 'menu' torn form a note pad and written in pen and sharpie. If we had not been fortunate to open the menu or have another member of staff passing by tell us, we would not have known that the food was cooked in the same fryer as the bread/batter etc. So it was gluten free other than being cooked with gluten. We tried to make the best of it and avoided the fryer but the food was not great. I had spaghetti meatballs which turned out to be quite spicy and my wife had gf carbonara with gloopy pasta and gristle bits in. We cut our losses and left. If you are just having a drink, im sure friendly staff can accommodate you but would not recommend eating there.

Andover is the half way point between my sister and I, and my Mum and other sister. I stumbled across The Town Mills on the internet as it was across the road from ‘Clip n Climb’ that we had booked for the kids. We were a party of 14, consisting of 7 adults and 7 kids aged between 5 and 10 years old. The pub is large with two floors and the tables are spaced out nicely. The menu is extensive, reasonably priced and there was something for everyone, including little fussy eaters and vegetarians! The kids menu was great, with lots of choice, ice cream and squash. For the adults, there was a large choice from light bites like jacket potatoes, to heavier meals like stroganoff. The food was plentiful and received well by all. We were especially impressed that the food was served together and hot for all fourteen of us! There were empty plates all round! We even indulged in some of the tasty desserts on the menu! A special shout out to Coleen who couldn’t do enough for us! She went over and above to ensure that we all got the best service, and even was super helpful when we wanted a photo of all of us together outside! A great find! We will be back!

I came in with a few friends for some lunch wasn’t a relatively busy day. The first thing that put me off is when I walked in I heard what sounded like an Irish lady scream slightly and say that there’s a cockroach by the dishwasher which I believe is by the bar. It’s not the first time I’ve been here either. The owners there treat their stuff horribly. Shouting at them from across the bar and kitchen in front of punter. The ones that are left in “charge” when the boss etc is gone it’s clear they just leave all the real work to the other member of staff behind the bar. All in all they hat I’ve heard is disgusting a couple of the girls on that bar have absolutely no problem talking about sleeping with other people husbands etc whilst they’re on the pub and don’t expect anyone to actually hear it. I’ve been there when they have said the wet matts for the bar are covered in ants. Their food is icelands own there is no fresh food made there what so ever even their fresh homemade soup is from a can. As I witnessed them bring it out to someone to show them if that soup would be okay and they’re charging nearly £13. Just awful

Used The Town Mills as our hotel had no restaurant, and unfortunately I was very disappointed. I decided to try the steak suet pudding as its one of my favourites, it came out in good time and was nice and hot, but ended up with a solid block of pastry with little or no filling, a spoonful of microwaved and flavourless mashed potatoes and some very poor vegetables again just microwaved , if it was still the 1980's I might not have been surprised but it's not. My wife went for the hunters chicken which again was totally overcooked and then tried to solve the problem with loads of bbq sauce and cheese, the whole experience was made worse by also having to try and enjoy a meal while being blasted by loud rock music. Overall this could be a nice place but the food needs updating and more freshly cooked dishes need to be added, and think a about the atmosphere a little more.

I was really looking forward to eating here and I had heard really good things. I would love to give a good review but never got past the front door! Staying at the hotel nearby and advised food provided at the Moldy Fig. Went in, and no one around, and it looked closed. Waited for a few minutes to see if anyone showed. After a bit, some turned up but was not interested in seeing if I needed assistance and hurried into the back office, giving no acknowledgement. Hopefully, this is a one-off and just bad timings. UPDATE. So breakfast was a lot better, hot food ordered to your table and a good choice of other foods. The service was very good. I have raised some scores to reflect this.

Nice atmosphere and the staff were friendly and available. The food was bang average, eggs over cooked and the plates overall just looked a bit simple and plain. The price however was very good, so it makes sense. Wouldn't expect fine dining at these prices by any means. Great for a social meal out with some friends when you just want a bit of atmosphere and some typical pub food, but probably not for anything more.

A group of us played skittles at the Black Horse. The buffet lunch provided for us was excellent. The skittle alley was great. The staff were welcoming, very helpful and friendly.

We came for a Sunday Roast and it was divine. Despite being very busy inside the food came and quickly and was piping hot. The roast was well balanced with appropriate portions of each element. The mean was amazing though, with our table getting a variety I couldn’t recommend one more than the other as they were all so good. The gravy was thick and rich and happy to offer more when asked (not necessarily needed however). The roast dinner was very reasonably priced and the staff were super friendly and nice as well. We arrived having not booked and the staff were incredibly accommodating but when coming again I would recommend booking before hand.

The White Horse Hotel did us proud for our wedding in October. Susanna and Heather on site and Rima in head office were consistently helpful and everything went perfectly on the day. We chose the "fairytale" package which was very good value. The food was excellent and particularly plentiful in the evening buffet. The "penthouse" honeymoon suite for our first night was very spacious and well furnished. It's just a shame we didn't spent more than one night in it. But some of our guests booked extra nights while they were there, which is a good recommendation.
