The whole evening was really very special. The food was outstanding; not only the amazing flavours but also the attention to detail and amount of work that had clearly gone into the dishes. Having Alex and his team take the time to present and explain each of the courses made it a unique experience. My husband and I both felt it was the best tasting menu and the most enjoyable experience we have had.

As always, the food part of lunch at the Estate Grill was superb. However the service was absolutely shocking and let down the whole experience. On arrival, there weren’t enough menus for our party and no children’s menu was provided for my son. I resorted to using the online version of the children’s menu, which later transpired to be out of date and what my son wanted to order wasn’t available. We ordered bread for the table and crudités for my son which then arrived with the main meal. Not ideal. I can’t though fault the food at all - delicious as always. On finishing our meal, we then had to wait nearly an hour for the table to be cleared. We had asked for desert menus and when these hadn’t arrived after 30 minutes, I went to request them and for our table to be cleared (we were outside so were starting to be bothered by flies and wasps on the dirty plates). When we arrived, the table next to us was being used by a wedding party for drinks. They left shortly after we arrived and the table remained uncleared the entire time we were there. We were celebrating a birthday, indicated on the booking, and no acknowledgement was made of this. It honestly feels like every time we come to Great Fosters now, there is a problem. It’s really quite embarrassing for the hotel, which used to be spectacular and which we have been visiting (including hosting our wedding reception) for almost 20 years. The new owners need to have a rethink of their service model because what we experienced today was not a premium level of service and we will seriously think twice about booking again.

Traditional English breakfast with great prices great service and lovely atmosphere with lots of traditional aspects to the British cuisine that are probably considered old school that is an absolute valuable thing. Classic British cafe in a very spacious area . The food is very high quality and catered for everyone. Can’t recommend this place enough. It’s so homely

Beautiful place to enjoy but the tea party the most disgusting ever had. I enjoyed the company of my friends but not the food. Scones were not freshly bake, my friends who are vegetarian had the worse to eat. They could have brought their own sandwiches. For to go back again needs to cater fresh tea party. I won't change Crazy Bear

My son phoned beforehand and specifically asked for information regarding the SWIMMING POOL and when he arrived the pool was closed!!! How could the receptionist possibly fail to notice this? Its a joke really Luckily my son lives locally but its still extremely annoying and reprehensible

My wife and I had an amazing meal and experience at the Tudor pass for our 1st year anniversary. The staff and chefs absolutely smashed it, the food was amazing with every dish having a back story or history towards it. The service was on point from a team who seemed genuinely happy and proud to be there. It was great to meet Head Chef Alex Payne as he came out to introduce some of the dishes alongside his team. We highly recommend this to anyone considering coming and plan to return in the very near future.

We had a lovely meal here recently on a Saturday lunch time. 4 adults and 2 children. The food is very tasty, all the dishes we tried were absolutely lovely. We had snacks to start of aranchini, bon bons and cider bread, even the kids enjoyed these. Starters of ham hock and cheese souffle and mains that we had were the pie (would recommend ordering a side of vegetables) the gammon and cauliflower. The kids had burgers and chips. A couple of things that could make this place better - Kids menu is very limited and they don't offer starters for kids so we had to ask for their mains to be brought out early. The staff did this straight away and without any hassle but would have been nice to have a plan upfront of either offering kids starters or asking if we wanted the mains early. The kids portions are quite small and my (very tall) 7yr old was still hungry afterwards. - There was only 1 option that was vegetarian and it didn't really have any protein in it. Luckily we ordered fries on the side so he filled up on carbs. - The portion sizes are mostly quite small, you need 2 courses minimum but food is very rich. What is a bit weird is the inconsistency of the portions, the cheese souffle is massive but the ham hock was tiny! The gammon and cauliflower were big but the pie was a bit small. All in all I would definitely recommend and we will return but I'd plan my menu choices better!
