Visited Joe's Cafe for breakfast because the decor was nice and they did not disappoint because the food delivered which explains why they have so many postcards sent back from visitors. On a brief visit to Chertsey, I felt that there were not many dine in cafes as they were mainly takeaways so this is definitely a winner for Joe's. The menu at Joe's had the usual breakfast suspects but interestingly it didn't have black pudding which you can order if needed. I had the small breakfast which came with tea and buttered toast with extra black pudding. It came on a clean white plate, no oil to be seen and the tinned tomatoes were intact and the plate was clean surrounding it with no traces of tomato juice etc. Anyway, everything on the plate was 10/10, the toast was buttered nicely and you can taste the saltiness from the butter. The bacon was trimmed, egg was fried nicely so were the sausage and black pudding. Last but not least the tinned tomato was just right, not too soft or soggy with a meaty chewy bursting with seeds in the middle.

A real old fashioned café popular with the local community. We had a late breakfast but we did have to wait some time for it to be cooked. Very much what we expected a typical English Fry up. A tad more expensive than average

The lady who served us was polite but we waited 30 minutes for a terrible overpriced fry up, fried bread (overdone) fried eggs (undercooked) the 1 sausage was (overcooked) others who came in after us got their food before us, £24 for 2 breakfasts with a 30 minute wait was terrible, and we left half of it.

Superb example of that once staple of the British high street. Value is amazingly good. Not your typical remade, stuff kept in heated cabinets. This was all fleshly made, perfectly cooked, proper pot of tea. Very clean. Would use regularly if a local. Friendly caring staff, looking after elderly customers.

Poor large breakfast for the money. £10.50 one sausage on a large breakfast? (and it wasn't a good one either) Fried egg yolks very pale yellow with not much taste (cheap battery farm eggs) also had a long hair in the egg which I didn't make a fuss of, I just left it, bacon could have been a bit more well done for me, coffee was ok, I've had better Wetherspoons breakies for less money and more on my plate. Shame as it would be a handy place for my Visits to Thorpe Park. Didn't take photos as the guy who cooked it then came and sat facing us whilst reading the paper.

This was the worst service and food quality I’ve ever received. I was made to feel like a complete inconvenience. Not only was the waitress and chef rude they over charged me and refused to give me an itemised bill. I sent back the hashbrown I’d ordered as a side because it was cold in the middle to receive a very sharp and rude response. The chef came and took it off my plate whilst I was eating to check the temperature herself and then when I received the replacement after I’d eaten my breakfast she bought a probe out in the middle of the hashbrown to say look I’ve checked it and it’s fine. You won’t send it back. It was a disgusting response! I ordered salmon and got one tiny little morsel. Extremely overpriced and rude. The last and first visit. Shame as I’m a local and I want to support small businesses! Scrambled egg on toast with one sausage, Rivera and salmon and scrambled eggs on toast with a single hashbrown - £19.30 disgusting!

I walked into this wonderful gem of a place by pure chance but as soon as I stepped in I loved it. It’s like walking back in history, how old school “greasy spoon” type of cafes used to be. It’s so good to see some like Joe’s survive due to the popularity with the loyal locals. Upon entry you are greeted with warm welcome and can either have your cuppa and brekkie sit in or take away. I decided to have a small breakfast of egg, sausage, crispy bacon, sausage, grilled tomatoes and toasted, buttered bread with my coffee. It was simply delicious, filling and made me a very happy man on this very cold December morning. I will definitely be back at Joe’s.

Joe's Cafe is an excellent example of a good, solid, old school British cafe. This particular visit was with my Mum, but I've been here a few times before and I've always been happy with everything. Both of our meals were good quality, well cooked and served in good time. The place is clean and decorated in a nicely understated way. It's a locals cafe and there is a good atmosphere. It's always nice to see the good care they take of their older customers. It's a great place for a fry up, beans on toast, an omelette or just a cuppa and bun. If your idea of a good time is spending half an hour dissecting every dish on the menu to ascertain its country of origin, organic status, vegan friendlyness, gluten freeness and the eye colour, gender and inside leg measurement of the farmer that produced it, then maybe it's not for you.

As always, the food part of lunch at the Estate Grill was superb. However the service was absolutely shocking and let down the whole experience. On arrival, there weren’t enough menus for our party and no children’s menu was provided for my son. I resorted to using the online version of the children’s menu, which later transpired to be out of date and what my son wanted to order wasn’t available. We ordered bread for the table and crudités for my son which then arrived with the main meal. Not ideal. I can’t though fault the food at all - delicious as always. On finishing our meal, we then had to wait nearly an hour for the table to be cleared. We had asked for desert menus and when these hadn’t arrived after 30 minutes, I went to request them and for our table to be cleared (we were outside so were starting to be bothered by flies and wasps on the dirty plates). When we arrived, the table next to us was being used by a wedding party for drinks. They left shortly after we arrived and the table remained uncleared the entire time we were there. We were celebrating a birthday, indicated on the booking, and no acknowledgement was made of this. It honestly feels like every time we come to Great Fosters now, there is a problem. It’s really quite embarrassing for the hotel, which used to be spectacular and which we have been visiting (including hosting our wedding reception) for almost 20 years. The new owners need to have a rethink of their service model because what we experienced today was not a premium level of service and we will seriously think twice about booking again.

Booked for 12.30 Sunday 3 November lunch for four of us. The restaurant was very quiet to start with. We sat down at 12.30 and finally got our starters at 1.45. Main course came out at 2.15. Service was slow and we ended up not having a sweet or coffee as a large party of 20+ arrived for a baby shower. The beef was inedible and so we left it. Really poor customer service, no follow up on drinks and the staff just kept walking away. £120 and two and a half hours. Really disappointing service.
