Popped in for a drink to cool off, sat in the courtyard. Very nice area. Lovely glass of orange juice, felt refreshed. Friendly staff

Slightly underwhelming given the positive reviews I had seen. It's just a very basic pub. Friendly enough but nothing special and the welcoming fireside offer wasn't available on my visit. A chilly experience and lacking in atmosphere. Fair enough it was a Monday night but no vibe at all. Disappointed.

No creo que me haya sentido conmovido de escribir una reseña sobre un lugar antes, pero mi experiencia en The Old Fire Station esta noche me ha obligado a hacerlo. Fui con un amigo a ver un programa de comedia. Estuve bastante enfermo el año pasado, y mi movilidad sigue siendo bastante limitada y uso un marco para caminar. Tengo que decir que el nivel de asistencia que recibí de las dos damas que actuaban como acomodadoras fue más allá. Fueron tremendamente amables desde el principio. Nada era demasiado problema para ellos y anticiparon todas mis necesidades, acompañándome en el ascensor, asegurándome de que me mostraran un asiento accesible inmediatamente. Tan pronto como el espectáculo se detuvo por el intervalo, uno de ellos vino a preguntar si necesitaba las "instalaciones" y se ofreció a traerme una bebida del bar, y todo esto se hizo de la manera más encantadora, en absoluto condescendiente. Sólo quería darles un gran agradecimiento.

Difficult to know where to begin - a hub of effortless cool and unpretentious loveliness for so many years - host to great music and exhibitions - with a wonderful buzz and fab staff - and social hub for groups from armchair philosophy to scrabble. Will miss it hugely and only wish the landlord would rethink. Huge thanks and appreciation for many memorable times.

Ideally I’d like to have given this review 4.5 blobs, 4 is too harsh, 5 is too high. The venue is typically Ivy stunning, a grand building, tiles, wood, hundreds of pictures on the wall, lovely cutlery, lovely crockery, ace toilets, it’s gorgeous. Service from the staff was great, but I gave it 4-stars as it took over 30 minutes for our food to arrive. Fair enough - we were booked in at 08:30 when it opened and perhaps the chefs didn’t turn up in time to get a load of prep done, but it isn’t typical Ivy in our experience. It wasn’t a massive inconvenience, but just seemed ‘slow’ compared to usual. Aside from that the people and cheeriness and everything about the service was ace. The food was great, a lovely full English, some pancakes and fruit, some toast, couple of smoothie juices, tea and coffee. We always enjoy Ivy breakfasts, whether it’s York, City of London, Manchester, and now Oxford.

Fantastic find in the market! The pies were absolutely delicious - super speedy service and the manager who served us was friendly and attentive. We’ll be back again :)

Ordered food 3 people left waiting over 20 minutes for a drink, 15 minutes after my wife’s wine was served although menu looked ok in a hot restaurant waiting that long for some water not good enough, I left others stayed felt like I was being took the piss out of, plenty of other eateries in Oxford, shame the cock up happened, will not use again !!!

We’ve stayed here a dozen times in the last ten years but this will be our last stay. The lady who checked us in was dismissive and disinterested. The room was lovely but Very noisy indeed so very little sleep. The shower was cold. Properly cold. They moved us to a quieter room for the next night which was good. Shower this morning not only cold again but virtually no pressure so it took five minutes just to make sure the soap was off. Breakfast was nothing like last time. Coffee was overrun and bitter. No fruit. Yes. No fruit. Only sliced apple. I asked for some berries and was told they had none. The menu service is gone so welcome to a large scale buffet just like a conference hotel. Congealed eggs and sweaty bacon dripping in fat. Stale pastries. All this for 400 pounds a night. It used to be lovely and clearly the bean counters have taken charge and are going for the bare minimum. Apart from the check in lady, all the staff try hard Oxford’s Grand Dame is gone. A faceless homogeneous business / tour hotel is the new reality.

Brilliant service! Very impressed!

Very quiet for a Friday night. The barman was pleasant enough. It’s just all a bit dull for me. You can’t really see the cartoons as the room is not particularly well lit. The cocktails were fine. We walked through the hotel to the other bar which was slightly better but at £9 for a glass of not cold enough Pinot Grigio in another badly lit room, we left feeling rather conned after they added a service charge as well. . For a large hotel the wine selection by glass is very limited.
