Je kan hier komen via een steegje . Er is ook een terras in dat steegje We hebben binnen gezeten om wat te lunchen en te drinken. We hebben genoten van een keuze uit sharing dingen met een frietje erbij. Het zag er leuk en gezellig uit. Bijzonder mooi om te zien dat ze ook een wat minder bedeelde mensen toelieten.

We stumbled upon this place by accident and were delighted by the excellent selection of pies on the menu. Each of us ordered our favorite, and no one was disappointed. I’d wager you wouldn’t find a better pie anywhere else. The American family at the next table even insisted that they hadn’t had better pies anywhere back home in the States

Ambiente tipico dei pub inglesi con atmosfera incantevole per me che amo questi locali. Il personale è gentile. Ci siamo fermati una sera per bere qualcosa: servono anche drink oltre che ottima birra. Altra sera abbiamo cenato: servizio veloce e cibo buono e abbondante. Prezzo nella norma.

We came across this pub by chance and needed to grab some food. The food was really good, wholesome, filling and well cooked. I’ve given this 4 stars instead of 5 as we had a baby with us, who wasn’t really accommodated for. There was no high chairs nor nappy changing facilities.

Ho mangiato una classica pie vegetable con pollo e funghi servita con verdure carote bollite poco e grigliate senza togliere la buccetta. Il purè si salvava, ma il peggio sono stati i broccoli per cui ho pagato 3 sterline di maggiorazione.. immangiabili, li ho rimandati in cucina, ma nemmeno il gesto di restituirmi le e sterline. Erano immangiabili. E quanto a gentilezza il personale lascia piuttosto a desiderare. Insomma pessima esperienza.

Lovely staff and a exquisite level of customer service with some very passionately made cocktails. I would recommend this place especially If you are looking to make a romantic gesture with the significant other. The food is top notch and perfectly pleasant. Staff are lovely

We often come here for a few drinks and end up having a bite to eat. The food is consistently very good, it doesn’t matter that it’s a chain pub! The gardener’s platter is great between friends, and classics like the burger and fish and chips are very well done too. The nachos are a favourite of ours since they come with nacho cheese sauce which makes a nice change, and are properly generously loaded. There is a large selection of beers on tap, and the staff are very friendly. Obviously these are Oxford prices but that’s to be expected in the middle of the city centre.

arrived at 10.45 to be told in a sharp tone they close at 11pm. ok not a problem i guess. not welcoming not friendly not what you would expect. ordered our drinks paid for our drinks. i said thank you. staff didnt. ok again just note to myself never in all my time drinking in oxford have i had this cold tone from bar staff. anyway decided to go outside. nice chat with friends when within a few minutes a female bar staff ran up to us and in a loud voice "you have 10mins to drink up" .... we said that was not a problem. 2mins later a male member of staff rushed up to us in an acutely hostile manner and said "you need to drink up now and leave". confusing but we were happy to leave and sorry we bothered giving you our time and custom. didnt finish our drinks .... how could we .... truly shocking the way bar staff behaved and treated us. NEVER AGAIN .... disgusted at the way we were treated .... shame on you

Visited this pub with friends to celebrate a birthday. Ordered 1 round of drinks for 4 people within 10 minutes a staff member told us we had to finish our drinks in 10 mins which was in plenty of time. Just 2 mins later we were told by another member we had to leave in a very unpleasant and forceful manner. We didn’t even have time to finish our drinks. It’s seems to me he clearly has no customer service skills or maybe he is disgruntled in his job but that was no way to talk to paying customers. We certainly will not be coming here again!

Découvert un jour de pluie, ce pub caché dans un endroit assez particulier (il faut vraiment s'y aventurer car il est discrètement caché). Nous y avons passé un très bon moment.

We had planned something a bit different to eat, but on popping in here for a pint we realised that it had to be a pie! Think we may have stopped in another of their pubs in the past. One Steak and Ale and one Lamb shank pie purchased and we hungrily tucked in. Delicious well cooked and far from the sloppy gravy pies most places sell. Fantastic meal, great staff and a lovely old world pub.

Appreciate it was a busy Saturday afternoon afew weeks before Christmas, not a problem, atmosphere good, found a seat outside, cosy with lights and patio heaters. Ordered drinks on the app, waited, waited a little more, saw people around us being served twice in the same time frame, after just under half an hour, as i got up to finally go and see what was going on, the waiter appeared. Told him we were disatisfied, he mentioned we could get a refund, said to his colleauge 'they want a refund im on my break now' and walked away. Second colleauges attitude was poor, arguing against what we said, said people at the bar were waiting too (but gave shorter time scales than ours), said our drinks were more time consuming to make...two simple cocktails and a coffee, come on?! Was using any old excuse. Was so thirsty by that point (had also wanted to order tap water but hadnt been able to see it on the app, and had planned to ask for some when our drinks were delivered) that i started drinking the drink regardless. Would probably still be waiting for tap water now. Staff member 2 was determined to argue with a strop and a horrific attitude until he was blue in the face and not give a refund (which we didnt initiate to begin with, it was staff member 1 that offered!), or offer a complimentary drink or just a sincere apology. He seemed thoroughly disinterested and like he had somewhere better to be. We finished our drinks pretty quickly, and moved on elswhere where, despite being pretty full they accomodated us, were welcoming and couldnt do enough for us! What a difference! Horrific customer service and thoroughly disappointed!

Fantastic staff with great food recommendations!! The Sunday roast and pies were to die for!! Plus portions were huge. Staff couldn’t do enough for us. Definitely a place to visit and I totally recommend the food served here, lovely atmosphere, warm and very friendly!! Raspberry and orange blossom spritz was perfect accompaniment to our meals.

First time in the UK and wanted to see how common it is to find great Fish & Chips. My first experience at another restaurant was incredible so I was hoping all restaurants were equal. One thing I learned a bit different over here is you need to go to the counter and order; while they will bring the meal out to you, no one will take your order from the table. So, if you are sitting at a table waiting to place an order... it will be a long wait. They are very friendly and I asked for a beer suggestion. I found that beer here, much like back home is a very subjective thing. Some I liked... some I did not. However, something very nice, they will let you sample their beers before you choose. Meals are not served particularly fast, but I'm sure it's because it is freshly prepared. Fish & Chips here are typically served with "smashed peas" and if you have never had before, you'll either like them or not. If you don't like peas, you most likely won't like smashed peas. The coating is a golden crisp and the fish was white and fried to perfection. The chips were also quite good. My meal was good but it wasn't quite as good as the previous pub I had tried. It was a nice place and the food was okay, but there are better choices.

They serve some very nice pub food here and have a good selection of ales on tap. The size of the pies are surprisingly big and you get a good-sized serving. They are very tasty too. The pub is tucked away down a side street so it's easy to miss.

Amazing!! Love the atmoshpere and people do recommend. Bring friends. Watch the football and enjoy tbe atmosphere.

We were heading home from London and took a detour to visit Oxford. After wandering round the centre we wanted to eat. Stumbled across the Crown down a little alley. It’s the sort of pub which is disappearing from our towns. Olde Worlde, fantastically stocked bar, friendly staff and great food. My partner had a burger - described as ‘good’. I had the Crown speciality pie and man it was superb!!! Absolutely loved it! There is a terrific selection of beers, ciders, gins etc. something for everyone. I can highly recommend a visit.

Great pub, with really lovely food. Plenty of room, make sure to find it as it’s tucked away. We had the award winning pie, and it deserved to be! Really tasty, and the vegetables were all beautifully cooked too. And a gorgeous pint of cider.

Stopped in for A few drinks and a snack, Mathew the barman was great and made the experience very enjoyable!

An extremely rude barman who left my wife in tears and simply couldn’t care less. We visited as my wife had a hankering for pie, mash potatoes and gravy. Initially all went well, food ordered, drinks ordered and each paid for. The barman explained that he needed to change the barrel but would bring the drinks over which I thanked him for. After 5-10 minutes the drinks order hadn’t arrived and so I returned to the bar. I explained this only to be told, by the American barman, that ‘if I hadn’t received them then I shouldn’t have paid for them’, I was surprised and said ‘I’m sorry but I did as I was asked’, he said ‘you shouldn’t have done’, this descended and defended further despite my reassurance that I had paid, the original bar guy turned up and apologised, a second bar guy apologised and I thanked them each for their apology, they were actually both great, what little food we ate was also good. This was a bad scene, this guys poor attitude was more consistent with a door man at a low quality back street club and not that of a decent host at nice pub in Oxford which I believe it could easily be.

Sticky, manky tables. Beer ok, barmaid as miserable as sin. Writing this from their WIFI. Won't be back

We stopped in Oxford on the way to London and had dinner in this very welcoming pub. They have a very good selection of pies. I had steak and ale. We also enjoyed a delicious sticky toffee pud

Mooching about its easy to miss this gem tucked away down an alley. A nice old school pub with great service and lovely staff. My wife raved about her lentil cottage pie and I had a haddock and scampi meal. Perfectly cooked and washed down with a pint of London Pride. Perfect!

Lovely hidden pub, friendly staff! Great selection of gins and craft ales! My fiancé and I came to stay in Oxford for 1 overnight stay, so we’re very selective and particular about our choices of pub to go to… we’re very happy we picked this one! :)

Very disappointing for a nicholsonsThis is the 5th nicholsons I've visited in recent months and I have always found service good and good quality food however your Oxford branch leaves a lot to be desired and not one I'd be returning to anytime soon.Your online menu shows you sell game pie yet your staff have "never heard of it" when I was ordering the female bar staff was near enough pushing me to order when I was examining the menu. The female staff was pushy and not at all friendly.The food quality desipite it being nicholsons was poor. The nicholsons steak and ale was vert hardened i has to really pressure into the top to cut into the pie and felt like it had been out for a very long time. The carrots were rock hard and crunchy the meat in the pie not to standard et al it got to the point i sent it back and spoke to someone called Chris noting how unhappy I was with this I have visited one in Newcastle two in London and one in Windsor and always had a good experience however this one left a very sour bitter taste in my mouth. Not somewhere ill be back anytime soon till a complete overhaul is done.The food quality wasn't to typical nicholsons standard and the menu inaccurate and staff just rude and pushy so yeah no thanks Oxford I won't be back anytime soon. Tip to managers if you want to be award winning then keep your menu accurate and staff friendly.

Good beer, friendly fast service, you can even stand in the bar, a lovely outside seating area to boot. I would recommend to anyone visiting Oxford. Apparently the ladies loos could do with a refreshing, but otherwise top-drawer.

12.30 this Saturday my wife and I decided to get some food and a drink at the Crown, I asked if I could order food and the barman asked the chef who was leaning on the bar, if the kitchen was open, his reply was very unenthusiastic to say the least, ordered the seafood platter to share and was told it's not available, no niceness or anything, drinks were plonked on the bar with no please or thank you, I decided to eat elsewhere, and spent a pleasant afternoon at a nearby pub, the Crown missed out on my custom due to manner less, couldn't care less attitude of staff. We have been here many times in the past and have always enjoyed the experience. I'm sorry to say that we have now found another regular haunt in Oxford to spend our money

Wonderful pub. Great location. The staff are friendly and have a personality, always very kind to me. If you have problems then bu**er off. The prices are reasonable bearing in mind the location.

The venue had good menu of choice and food delivered quickly. The smooth rock music was fantastic so not a usual fan but I really enjoyed the atmosphere. Staff were focused. The negative to the visit was the cleanliness of toilets poor…

We came to Oxford for the day yesterday for lunch and a cocktail and wander round the shops. Stopped at the crown for something to eat. The food was good but the service was not up to scratch. One member of male staff was so rude and made it feel like we were bothering him and that he just couldn’t be bothered. Food was dumped on the table and when asked where our drinks were he just mumbled and walked off. My friend ordered onion rings with her order -these didn't arrive when her burger did - she asked said male where her onion rings were and he just replied that they didn’t come through on the order, she offered to show him on the app that she had ordered them but he just replied, very rudely ‘ well it hasn’t come through ‘ and walked off. We then asked another member of staff who then went off to at least check and the onion rings arrived after my friend had eaten her meal. I don’t know if the male was the manager but he definitely needs a fresher training course in customer service. As I said the food was good but we would never return or recommend this pub due to the customer service ! Rude, unfriendly and staff that act that they just can’t be bothered never make for a great dining experience !

The Crown is a nice tucked away pub down an alleyway in the centre of Oxford. As you walk down the alleyway you're greeted by wonderul hanging baskets of flowers and nice fairy lights. Its a great place to get a picture or 2! The staff were lovely and drinks were great. Quick service and nice looking pub!

We (3 adults and a child) stopped here for a late lunch, quite a few of the dishes on the menu were unavailable due to delivery issues, we did however manage to all find something we could eat. The food was plentiful, tasty and arrived in good time.

Positive items first: the staff were super friendly and helpful. Their efforts made the experience positive overall. They also made a heck of a G&T.However, many of the menu items were out of stock. Not sure of this is a post-covid-related supply issue or they had been really busy, but it was hard to find something I wanted that they actually had in-house. We ordered some meat pies and the flavor was decent but the crust was very thick and they had only a small amount of filling.We also found, during our visit, that this exact menu was located at pubs throughout England, which was disappointing. One of my least favorite things about my home country (the USA) is the corporate nature of things were the food is all the same everywhere you go. I would like to sit down at a pub and be surprised by menu items rather than continually finding the same things.

Went today for Sunday lunch. Would not recommend - carrots hard, beef tough, and the rest of the dinner was so peppery it was hard to get through. Worst of all though was comments being made by the bar manager to his young female employee about hiring new staff based on their ‘hotness’. It made us very uncomfortable and put us off our food. Would tell everybody to avoid this place if you want good food and good atmosphere.

Came up for an impromptu day visit from London to check out Oxford with a few friends. The Crown is a lovely little tucked away pub right in the city centre. Really great selection of beers on tap and it was lovely sitting in the garden on a hot summers day! Would definitely recommend!

Stumbled upon this pub as it was pouring with rain and needed a dry spot away from the shops. Really friendly bar staff who served a mean G&T in decent glasses. Definitely worth a visit. Lovely character building with outside covered areas.

Before you look at my rating I would like to say I can’t fault the staff or the food that came out to us. The reason for the lower rating is purely because the table we sat at outside were sticky and dirty and the toilets at the pub really stank of urine so much so the smell was all you could smell in the outside area. I would recommend the pub but it just needs a little bit of work to make it much better.

This pub is a little tucked away, but worth searching out if you want a proper little pub.Just had drinks, big range of real ale, which is good to see.Definitely not one of the chains & much better for that in my opinion.Staff could have been a bit more welcoming to be honest.

We didn’t have food just popped in for a drink in the evening after a days walking around the city. We sat in a nice covered courtyard. The pub itself inside looked great (a proper old English feel) & had the weather not of been so good we would of curled up in an old Chesterfield chair by a fire by the large stack of board games.

Food very reasonably priced as was drinks. Very delicious fish pie and toad in the hole Will be back to sample some more of their pies. Great selection of beers. Sierra Nevada IPA is top notch!

Everyone is so nice here at the crown. Came here for sunday roast and food was really good. Pork belly was delicious and my husband said his steak roast was cooked really nice!

Completely uninterested staff serve up reheated bilge and seem quite happy to do so. Quite pricey too, if the price reflected the quality I wouldn’t have written my first review

Went Thurs 24th june wont go back again waited over half hour for somone to serve us then my drink went back 3 times only wonted pint shandy got larger 1st 2nd larger with soda 3nd larger with water a joke

One of my worst ever dining experiences. Booked table for 1.00, but kept waiting for 15 minutes at the Covid barrier while bored-looking staff, who had little to do as the dining area was three-quarters empty, simply ignored us. Finally shown to a table by a morose and utterly uninterested waiter; the table was sticky with bits of food from a previous meal, no attempt to wipe it. My daughter asked where the baby changing room was for my 5 month old grand-daughter, only to be told there wasn't one. Menus were then produced stained with dried gravy. I ordered a beef-burger, to be told the grill was broken. Food finally arrived; my Irish stew pie consisted of inedible greens, carrots still covered in soil, and a pie consisting of meat micro-waved to a mush, covered with glutinous gravy and potatoes burned on to the edge of the bowl. My wife's steak and ale pie had a crust like cardboard with more micro-waved mush inside. Finally I ordered a pot of tea to wash away the taste, to be brought a pot of tepid liquid the colour of dishwater with a jug of frothing hot milk! When I requested cold milk the waitress sullenly brought me a teacup half full of milk. Absolute disgrace.

Warm welcome extended on arrival, promptly seated (inside as outside was so busy). Good selection of drinks, and prompt service. The wait on food was over an hour, but was good when it arrived.Good place for a drink, can imagine it comes alive at night time!

This is my favorite pub in oxford! It has such a nice atmosphere, hidden down the alleyway is the best spot for a drink after work! Staff were really helpful and nice to us they made the evening really special for us. The selection of gins were amazing! Will be coming back soon!

We booked The Crown for some food and drinks on Saturday and were met promptly at the welcome table. The outside area was nice and also had covered booths which was really nice. The food was as expected and the atmosphere nice.That's where the positive experience ended unfortunately. We had signed up to the app where there was an offer for a £1 drink, which seemed pretty good! We checked the Ts and Cs which said it could not be used with any other offer, so we checked with the server and he took my phone into the bar to check if it could be used. He confirmed we could so we ordered the 3 eligible £1 drinks.When we asked for the bill we were told by the duty manager that we couldn't use the vouchers as there were 3 of us that ordered, even though the server had already checked this. So instead of £16 for the drinks the bill was £31. She was unhelpful, didn't try to resolve this for us and made us feel like it was completely our fault. She even told me it was 'common sense' and that if she put it through it would be fraud.Having since received a reply from Nicholson's pubs on their Facebook page confirming that the vouchers could be used by putting the bills through separately this could have been resolved without the duty manager getting irate and by trying to resolve the situation for us. She was just rude and stubborn about the situation. In the end she managed to process the deal for us (but basically threw the bill across the bar to me) so I really can't see what the issue was. It has really tainted our experience at The Crown.This was a real shame and we're unlikely to go back. We will be going to the many other pubs around Oxford instead.

Myself and some colleagues decided on lunch at The Crown, knowing that they were well known for a good selection of beers, so on 4 May went the crown, and this was the outcome.Atmosphere in courtyard good.Ale selection one.Food (Fish and Chips) inedible.Service non existent.

Like the steak!! I also like the onion rings and fries. Good environment and it is a really relaxing for friends families or couples to come.

I visited with two of my work colleagues for a business lunch and we were greeted by Rob who was very friendly and professional. We didn't know what to order so he gave us some recommendations after asking us what some of our preferences were. We were keen to try the steak so we ordered that. I ordered my steak medium-rare and the chef did a great job getting the temperature right as most pubs I've visited never get it correct. It was delicious and the presentation was very nice. The best sides in my opinion were the handmade onion rings which were freshly prepared. We didn't have to wait more than 15 minutes for our meal to arrive.I was so delighted by the meal that I wanted to meet the chef. Akbar is a great chef and his execution of the meal was top tier. As mentioned above most pubs I go to have mediocre chefs and ingredients (as most is frozen). I can't recommend The Crown more as their head chef Akbar really knows what he's doing.I will definitely come back again for a meal here as long as Akbar is the one cooking the dish.

Me and the mrs were only going to come in for one drink but decided to stay the whole night. We got put in one of the booths outside and it was lovely, very cosy with the heaters and the lights. Apologies to Matt for having to put up with my awful jokes all night!

Tiendo a olvidar que este pub existe, pero cada vez que voy es un pub bastante decente. La comida es un poco cara, pero no es inusual para estar justo en el centro de la ciudad y en realidad es bastante buena calidad. El área para sentarse al aire libre es razonable, aunque solo algunas mesas tienen calentadores y todo el personal tiene máscaras.

Apareció aquí debido a la recomendación de un amigo de una visita anterior.Debo decir que estaba mezclado con mis emociones y mi servicio.Al llegar, no teníamos reserva y la encantadora señora nos ordenó una mesa. Sin embargo. . . estaba en medio de la barra y aparentemente (según la joven que trajo la comida) en medio de un sistema de sentido único. Excepto que iban en ambos sentidos, trepando por la silla que tenía al perro debajo.No hicieron nada para asegurarse de que las personas que caminaban llevaran máscaras. Mi pareja con la que estoy trabaja para el departamento de salud y se molestó cuando varias personas sin máscaras se acercaron a acariciar al perro y nadie hizo nada al respecto y terminó diciéndoles que se pusieran máscaras y se distanciaron socialmente!Sin embargo, la comida era deliciosa (Toad in the hole) pero el pastel de carne de mis socios era grasoso y duro.Ambos vimos al personal manipular la parte superior de los vasos y los vasos que se colocaban en los estantes con los labios hacia abajo, lo que va en contra de la política de covid y la falta de atención a covid fue una verdadera preocupación para mí.

No fue mi primera visita. Intenté parar para almorzar en un día lluvioso en Oxford, cuando entré por la puerta, me encontré con una barrera de correos, una pareja que intentaba descargar alguna aplicación y la recepcionista o persona de la puerta, la primera molestia es que él estaba seco a cubierto, bueno, me mantuvieron bajo la lluvia ya que el techo solo cubre el escritorio, ¿crees que me recibieron? Nunca, ni reconoció, ni una sonrisa, nunca vi a alguien que quisiera ser menos en su trabajo. Después de varios minutos logré ponerme un poco a un lado y la mitad de la lluvia, la otra pareja logró que la aplicación funcionara, abrieron la barrera de cuerda y entraron, nuevamente fui totalmente ignorado, sin estar más de unos pocos pies. lejos y el único otro en la cola, sin palabra, incluso evitando el contacto visual, me quedé solo bajo la lluvia, me llevé mis buissnes a algún lugar querido y un poco más seco. No es cuestión de formación o comprensión de los tiempos difíciles, solo manejos básicos y total descuido hacia los clientes o el servicio. Asqueroso se queda muy corto de lo que recibí.

Me and my other half came to oxford and went to dinner at the Crown. We waited a while (almost an hour) but I can honestly say it was the best pie I have ever eaten.

Fuimos allí en un ajetreado feriado bancario, nos sentamos afuera por un anfitrión muy agradable y nuestra orden fue atendida inmediatamente por una encantadora camarera, ella recomendó el sapo en el hoyo y el bistec ya que queríamos una comida de pub tradicional, el servicio fue excelente a pesar de cómo ocupado estaba! Volveré pronto seguro

Myself, husband and son recently visited here on a sunny afternoon whilst visiting Oxford for the weekend. It was our first time in Oxford and with the rules of COVID-19 still in play I wasn’t sure we would find somewhere. Luckily however I spotted this gem hidden down one of the main streets. From the outside its very traditional quirky pub style. There is outside and inside seating. We opted for inside so get some shade! The menu was delicious and really good value for the money. We both went for the Steak and Ale pie and everything about the dish including the potatoes and vegetables were just gorgeous. Service was fast and friendly and we couldn’t have asked for me.

I booked online for myself and a friend to have lunch. We were given drinks menus despite booking to have lunch. We asked for food menus twice- eventually a waiter collected one menu from outside and gave it to us. Drinks orders were taken straight away. It took the waitress a further 15 minutes for us to order food. Staff (particularly one waiter) were too busy on their phones showing each other texts etc. I overheard a lot of staff moaning about customers sitting inside. There was a clear atmosphere of tension and a ‘can’t do’ attitude between staff. It all felt very haphazard. Food was nice. It was such a shame as I had been looking forward to go to this pub for a while. I won’t be coming back

Came this evening as had an evening off and finally out with the family . Started off with everyone ordering to come back to say had half the menu missing especially as my sister is vegan and had to go to another pub to get a burger for her otherwise would of left her there sitting whilst we all ate! Brother in law had calamari came with what looked like thick black dog hair/belly fluff told us it came from the cutlery cupboard , well I didn't know they cooked food in fluffy cupboards!? I had a steak which was medium mixed it up with my partner's which was rare and was dry as old boots chips cold onion rings cremated with no onion inside literally made me gag! No apology just offered another dish which after the awful wait didn't feel like it and scared what it would come out like.. also had a fish platter sharer for 16.00 original cost was absolutely poor for what you get , more like a child's portion with a random lettuce leaf! Would never be returning again

Really nice pub tucked away of the main thoroughfare. The pub was nice and cosy and very clean. Sadly my food was very poor, my sausages were burn and that spoiled my meal. I did tell the waitress, but she just shrugged her shoulders. The two other meals that my friends had, looked and I am told where very tasty.

En un día muy húmedo en Oxford para ir de compras vi este letrero (The Crown) en este pequeño callejón y la sierra que se especializan en platos de pescado.Qué descubrimiento, gran menú y excelentes cervezas.Pedimos bebidas y comida y era justo lo que se necesitaba en un día húmedo. Gran servicio por personal muy amable.

Amazing service!!! Highly aware of food allergies and did everything to make sure the meal was ok. The chicken & avocado salad was next level. Thanks you.

Called in to get out of the rain, had a couple of drinks and a burger, the food came quickly and was delicious, pretty well priced too, would definately recommend for good pub food or just for drinks too

Visited recently with friends . Great to see a traditional pun thriving in the city centre . Knowledgable and friendly staff . Note - still call time at 11 !

Escondido en un callejón en el que aparecimos sin grandes expectativas. Brillante y amable personal del bar joven, buena selección de cervezas, comida a un precio razonable. Solo tuvimos la sopa pero estaba sabrosa y cálida. Vale la pena detenerse en Oxford ocupado en un día frío

Visited a busy Friday evening and managed to find a table. Staff friendly and menu looked good and food ordered. Very impressed that it arrived within 15 minutes. Overall the food was fine, although the turkey pie could do with a bit more turkey inside.The real downside was the gents toilets. Very small, cramped with one cubicle, which had a very wet floor. Even worse the spare toilet roll was on this wet floor, next to the toilet pan and I certainly wouldn't have wanted to use it! It does seem that regular basic maintenance of this facility is not carried out.

Todo nuestro grupo estaba satisfecho con nuestros pedidos de comida, y el mío fue regado con un par de pintas de Old Hooky.Fui de nuevo el domingo a la hora del almuerzo, solo para tomar una copa esta vez, y probé el Jolly Holly.Es un encantador pub de estilo antiguo, con una amplia gama de clientes, desde adultos jóvenes hasta turistas extranjeros.Tengo que estar de acuerdo con otras críticas sobre los baños, pero esto ciertamente no afectó nuestra experiencia aquí, y definitivamente sería mi primera opción si estoy en Oxford nuevamente.

Decided to stop here as regulars to the Nicholson hostels and know a safe betWe had a good evening meal with food as we would expect but left feeling not as good as could have been.A number of staff on but other than the gent behind the bar most going through the motions with too much hilarity and distractions.Almost felt we were disturbing the staff by being there.An average experience overall as a result and not the normal Nicholsons experience we get.

So on short notice they managed to get an area sectioned off for us ( party of 18) you order food at the bar, good selection of beer ales and our favourite Cider (the Mortimer berry) although busy, staff very friendly and helpful, had quick service at the bar, the food was good and hot tastes really nice and presented, we would definitely go back,

Hubby had sausage toad which was nice apart from cold cabbage.

We were so unsuccessful to find a nice old restaurant which is serving steak as my last chance I walked in here wondering if they might have any. The menu mostly contains fish food but luckily offers a wonderful 10oz ribeye steak with chips, onion rings, tomato and mushroom. What a relief! I have to mention the selection of beers we had a couple of them. We really enjoyed the vibe. Service was kind, funny and straight in the bar. It was a good finish for my trip in Oxford.

Inside looked ok, garden cluttered, sticky tables, uncollected glasses, loads of wasps. Toilets filthy, stained from age but a total mess. Didn’t stay long

Fui aquí hace un par de años y fue realmente bueno, pero ha ido cuesta abajo. La comida no era muy buena y el servicio por debajo de la media lo que nos hizo volver después de una buena visita anterior no estaba allí. No pienses que volveremos.

Pop socks for Oxford with my wife for a lovely weekend away we found a beautiful pub called the Crown where they do some lovely Cornish beer and excellent fish and chips all served with a very friendly hosts and excellent clean restaurant thank you very much to allthe staff

Tout d’abord, les toilettes sont sales et malodorantes, j’ai même eu du mal à ouvrir la porte des toilettes féminins qui était collée !!

Loved this place! It was really nice and the food was terrific! The backyard was very cosy and I would recommend this place to anyone who visits Oxford.

went for meal with family of 6 nice surroundings all meals ordered where lovely hot tasty and presented well staff not that friendly didnt even say hello only thing that let it down

Good to see not one , not two but three pubs surviving, as the ancient Crown Pub is a mixture of three pubs. Nice outside seating area and friendly staff.

Made a point of returning to The Crown when we recently visited Oxford. As it was a pleasant day we decided to eat outside. There are a number of tables and chairs positioned in the courtyard and some had awnings for inclement weather. The only downside was the closeness of the outside tables. Where customers were smoking, the smoke wafted across to our table.
