After a recommendation I booked The Alice for a friend’s birthday. The room and seating were very good, we chose our starters and main course with additional vegetables the starters arrived and were superb mushroom & tarragon soup & English asparagus salad and looked forward to our main course based on this introduction, The main course arrived without the extra vegetables (which were needed). The sea bass was excellent but as said needed bolstering with the extra vegetables which didn't arrive in a timely manner so were cancelled. The lamb can best be described as underwhelming or poor. Desserts were fine but the overall attention paid to our table of four can best be described as well below standard for the price paid and the hype in the advertising. Pull your socks up!

I'm still reeling from the incredible meal I had at this restaurant last night! The chef's creativity and skill shone through in every dish, from the amuse-bouche to the dessert. The ingredients were top-notch and expertly prepared, with each bite a revelation. The service was impeccable, with our server being attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. The atmosphere was cozy and intimate, with a fireplace crackling in the background. I've never felt so pampered and indulged at a restaurant. If you're looking for a truly exceptional dining experience, look no further!

Perfect hotel breakfast. Great variety as you’d expect, but the quality of the food sets it apart from many other hotel breakfasts. Excellent service - 5* feel but nice and relaxed. Special mention for Ohmie, who looked after us with a smile always! Thanks Alice and thanks Randolph!

I was very pleasantly surprised by our dinner. The restaurant didn’t have many guests so the vibe wasn’t too lively. But, the food was amazing! Sid made great recommendations (cauliflower, sirloin, bib lettuce salad). I really loved the cauliflower and my husband was happy with his sirloin !

Biki provided us with excellent service. Nothing was too much trouble - he and his colleague were delightful.

The place was packed on a Thursday night but very understaffed despite the jazz night advertised weeks ago. Service was painfully slow and we had to ask for a second menu. I saw two people just giving up and leaving, but when a young solo female walked in all waiters suddenly were at her disposal promptly bringing food and drinks, pouring water. Our table was shaky so I fixed it by putting my napkin under the leg. Food was ok, but I expected a much better service from a 5-star establishment like the Randolph

Beautiful place with great food. Service badly let it down. Great main courses - cod with black olive was excellent, lamb was delicious. Triple cooked chips are great, perfectly cooked. Desserts were good too. Good tea options. Pleasant cocktails. Lovely space nicely decorated. Service sadly was poor. One side dish was not added to our order and had to be reordered and came after our mains were finished. We had to wait a while to order desserts and tea. Twenty minutes after ordering, we asked after our desserts and they hadn't been put in the system. It ended up taking around 40 minutes to get the desserts and tea, and an hour between ordering dessert and paying and leaving. They did deduct the price of the tea from the bill which was nice but felt a bit of a nominal gesture. Cocktail glasses were also never cleared when emptying leaving the table more a bit cluttered for dessert and tea.

We had afternoon tea there yesterday, the bread was stale and we could not eat it. The crockery was dirty and 3 things had bits of previous food on them and had to get it changed but no apology. The service was awful to non existent.

I visited with my family to celebrate Alice in Wonderland Day in Oxford. Given the amount of money spent, I was disappointed that the staff did not even offer a simple "thank you" or "goodbye" as we were leaving. While the food was lovely, the overall atmosphere and customer service were lacking. Regrettably, I would neither return nor recommend this place. In contrast, the service at GBK is far superior, with staff who genuinely deserve tips.

Brilliant location and setting. We went in after seeing the board outside for Steak night. Once we were in we were looked after perfectly. The staff are all at the top of their game. Friendly and efficient. We had starters and then the Steak. The Asparagus salad starter was beautiful, as was the haddock and cheese souffle. The steaks were perfectly cooked and the sauce was one I have never had before, but hope to enjoy again. A glass of house wine is included with the steak night deal, it was also great quality. Keep up the good work.

Tea was mediocre for the price. No savoury tarts as advertised but website not amended. Had better elsewhere. Paying for where it is not quality I’m afraid.

Our meal was delicious and the lamb was a real Hilight cooked by chef George! Australian farmers we’ve eaten plenty of lamb and this was special ! Our server Alpha was a delight.

We had a wonderful afternoon tea in the drawing room. Sid and the other chap working with him were really helpful. Sid was really friendly and chatted to us about the hotel. The food was delicious. All the staff that we saw around the hotel were friendly, said hello with a warm smile. We were made to feel very welcome by everybody. Thank you.

I was on my way to the Ashmolean and was looking for somewhere to have lunch when I spotted the set menu being advertised. The Randolph Hotel is a beautiful building and The Alice looked very stylish, I hadn’t booked, but a table was available. The staff were very welcoming, polite and friendly. Perfect service. I ordered from the set menu - I had a main and dessert. I have to be honest and say that it was one of the best meals I’ve had in a while. Absolutely delicious. Beautifully cooked and presented, and the dessert was to die for. Worth every penny.

Our main server Rasmi was great. The open lasagna had great flavour and the desert perfectly balanced. The only critique would be low salt levels for the main and overall presentation could be a little more exciting.

Little bit loud at the start of our meal, but our server Sid did a wonderful job—recommended a drink my partner loved—and the food was excellent. A perfect special occasion meal! Would v much recommend if you’re in the market to celebrate something in Oxford. Gorgeous building.

We celebrated my 40th birthday here and we thoroughly ourselves. The food was great, although the vegan options were limited on the menu, they did bring out a wonderful vegan cake which was made locally. Service was very good and special mentions go to Saheed our Waiter. Thank you to everyone that made the day special.

Nice afternoon tea. Great service. Only downside Is that we came for my daughter's bday and the pianist wasn `t playing.

Sid provided timely and excellent service. Not overbearing but attentive. It was disappointing that the live pianist was not here on Sunday, however, this was no reflection of Sid’s service. We will be back!

What a dream! The Alice restaurant is so tranquil and traditional but with a sense of fun. We've had breakfast here, drinks with friends and I have enjoyed tea in the afternoon relaxing. The staff are all so attentive and kind - with particular mention and thanks to Sid for his helpfulness.

I booked a table for two to meet my daughter for breakfast, but the server seemed to struggle with us not being residents. Given a table and told the buffet was open, £26 a head. We waited for 10 mins and another server asked if we would like anything to drink, so we ordered tea. Then another 10 mins until we were able to ask for some menus. We were given one between us. We ordered eggs on toast, which were OK but not great. Took another 10 mins until we found a server able to take our payment. Then went to the Morse Bar for coffee. Waited 20 mins to be served while the chap behind the bar had a loud conversation with a group at a table, we all listened in. Given the reputation of this place, the service should be consummate. Sadly, it isn’t.

The perfect meal, atmosphere , service. Today is my first time to enjoy the afternoon tea. The staff name SiD was very kind and easy to ask everything. Thanks to him, we could enjoy most and it became unforgettable. When I come to Oxford again, I want to visit here.

We did High tea today and had a wonderful time. The food was wonderful. I really liked the curry chicken sandwich and my husband liked the smoked salmon. Our waiter Sid was helpful, attentive and very nice. Thank you. Missed the live music from last year but would definitely come back

My daughter and I had a wonderful time at the Alice. We greatly enjoyed the afternoon tea (Earl Grey & Darjeeling respectively). The sandwiches were very tasty and the scones, fresh out the oven, were wonderful and fluffy. Our server Aidan and the rest of the staff were all happy to help us with our hot water refills and our request for more scones. Overall this was a wonderful experience and we greatly appreciated our time here!

The food was delightful and we had a wonderful waiter, Sid. My absolute favorite was having tea in the drawing room that has impeccable decor. I loved the beautifully bright and colorful furnishings with plays on patterns and color throughout.

A very traditional afternoon tea, but generous and well executed. Sid was lovely.

If 4.5 stars were an option here then I would give them! The restaurant is a gorgeous and quirky gem, really inspired interior design. The service was flawless - friendly, quick and observant. I had the monkfish with mussles and cockles, which was gorgeous, and the fresh bread with whipped salted butter was amazing, too. The only pain point is that it did feel like everything was a tad overpriced (in some cases more than a tad). I realise of course that this is a prime location in Oxford, and belongs to a hotel, which somehow always seems to bring prices up. However, 26 pounds for three pieces of monkfish did seem a bit steep to me regardless (despite their aforementioned deliciousness). The cocktail I had cost 13 pounds and was alright - nothing too special. This was the cheap end of the cocktails - many of them cost 15 pounds or more. There are many bars in Oxford and London where you can get much more boutique-y, interesting drinks for the same price or less. I don't mind paying 13 pounds for a drink per se, but then I'd like it to be a special one, please! Nevertheless, I was on a mission to treat myself to a posh lunch after an interview, and this hit the spot exactly - thank you very much for the tasty food and the fabulous service!

An afternoon tea on a Sunday with my family. Sat in a lovely drawing room. They have a good range of teas and delicious too. Served by a warm & patient Sid...made our day.

It was such a lovely ambiance and our server Aiden was very attentive and helpful!

Sid was great, kind and hospitable. My partner and I came for afternoon tea, which was so lovely. He was able to provide us with additional sandwiches for us to take while we journeyed south. Highly recommend him!

Decided we would stay in a nice hotel and the Alice restaurant was a nice add on, we hadn’t booked our table but the staff couldn’t have done more to fit us in! The nibbles sour dough bread and olives a nice touch with the bread being crunchy and tasty, staff got some olive oil and balsamic vinegar with no trouble! Rasmi who was our server could not do enough for us! Every aspect of the meal was delicious from the cuts of meat used for the burgers to my chicken shawarma the flavours were out of this world even the fries just tasted of quality. The chocolate pot was out of this world and if you like chocolate I would say it’s heavenly. The cocktails kept flowing and the staff attentive, I would recommend this restaurant even if your not staying in the lovey hotel as it’s great all round

Late lunch, food excellent, service eh We are staying in the hotel and wanted a quick bite before heading out to sightsee. Waiter ‘forgot’ my order - which would have been okay if we had decided to forget the charges - but when I complained, the dish was served. It was excellent. Fresh tasty and overall outstanding. Drinks were also excellent. .
