I had afternoon tea there today. For £40 I would expect to have a lot more jam than 1 rounded tablespoon of jam between 4 scones. There was no need to be so mean with the jam; I had to scrape a smear of jam onto each side of the jam. The clotted cream wasn’t much better. The cakes were pretty bland and the tea list was pretty sparse. I have had much better afternoon teas for nearly half the cost elsewhere. They are trading on their name. Lovely room and atmosphere but we were cramped - 5 people on a table for 4.

You’re paying for the service and atmosphere. The decor is beautiful and the staff are incredibly attentive, but the food is frankly rubbish. If vibes matter more to you than the food then I’d definitely recommend, but otherwise not worth a visit. The pancakes were dry and eggy and no amount of greek yoghurt or raspberry coulis could save it. Also a random leaf on top that I didn’t notice completely ruined a mouthful.

3 of us ate dinner from a la carte menu. Scallop starter lovely, shepherds pie lovely, steak tartar ok but ive had much better. Tuna loin not good. We were asked if we wanted it pink or cooked through and we said rare but def pink if rare not possible. When it arrived it def wasn’t even pink. Staff were very good and a chicken dish was chosen with truffle sauce but that was not nice either, dry and boring. Side dishes didn’t arrive and had to ask twice and not hot. Second bottle of wine was forgotten and we had to ask again. Ordered port and cheese board to share. Got port but had to wait too long for cheese and had to ask

Party of 15. The food was good, a bit more emphasis on flavour and taste is needed. I'd rate it as good, but not exceptional. The main waiting staff we had was competent and helpful. However, a specific server who served the linguine definitely needs some training. Hot skillet held really close to the face. Was a health and safety risk and left our table gasping. The atmosphere was great. We loved the quirky interiors and decor.

Booked a table using the app for my birthday, arrived to be told my table had been cancelled, but showed the staff the app and they could see it was an error on their side and sorted it eventually. We both Order a non alcoholic cocktail that was recommended to me by the server and it just tasted of soda water and had no flavour at all, it was the blood orange spritz. We then decided to order the angelic ameretti sour non alcohol cocktail, we had 3 and they were not topped with the cherry or lemon slice. Although they did taste good. The app also said I would get a complimentary dessert as it was a birthday booking but no dessert came or was offered, we even asked for the bill and still nothing came, service charge was added of £14 for the 2 of us which we paid but felt very disappointed by our experience. We also had our drinks taken away when we had not finished them and we felt very rushed to pay the bill as we were approached twice before we were ready. We left after only being at the Ivy for 60 mins. Felt very short changed and very disappointed. We have been to various Ivy restaurants and have always been treated with such amazing service and great food and drinks, so this was such a big disappointment to us both.

Ornate place calculated to serve the "upper echelon." With music, it had a convivial feel, but without (which had gone away when we returned to actually dine), it was a bit burdened for a visitor on holiday. Waited nearly an hour to receive our ‘starters’. Then waited nearly another 30-40 minutes to receive our mains. We were told inbetween sorry for the delays that the kitchen was very busy but after waiting beyond what was expected it started to get annoying. After starters we did not get to speak to any waiter (who are basically all running around with no regard for customers). We had empty drinks for about 30 minutes trying to flag down our waiter to order more who disappeared seemingly. This added to frustration , in that it wasn’t just the food that was slow. Service not very attentive and staff rushing around without watching where they are going. No manners trying to avoid customers when walking or giving way - felt as if I was in McDonald’s. At the end of the meal due to the delays and lack of attention I asked to remove the discretionary service charge. The waiter came back and said he’d given us our last round of drinks (of the 2 rounds we could fit in) for free. This saved £23 which we were grateful for. The service charge was about £12. Weirdly though they kept the discretionary charge on there- despite me asking to remove it. Yes they saved more money by removing the drinks instead - but very cheeky way for the staff to maintain their service charge despite me asking to remove it so not very discretionary…… Then when paying, my card was on the table waiting. The waiter came over - grabbed it and tapped it on the card machine reader… that is a first for me. No idea what he could’ve charged me at the time! Totally unprofessional experience. Despite this.. the food was fresh and tasty

Booked for a romantic birthday lunch. Lovely surroundings and a nice welcome from the host. Given a small table with a street view. Chairs were comfy. We ordered a coffee and a cocktail. The coffee was spilled mostly into the saucer on delivery and instead of remaking it (which at other higher end places we have had done without asking) the server gave us cocktail napkins to soak up the coffee. The cocktail had the worst presentation ever. A small lice of lemon and a dirty paper straw (had some sort of food on it). It took some time to order, the place was busy for a Wednesday at 2, although there also seemed to be more staff than I have ever seen in a similar sized venue. My fiancé enjoyed his tempura prawns and they were very fresh and flavoursome. My 'crispy' chicken salad consisted of a piece of pan cooked chicken, which was not crispy as advertised and also the bottom of a head of romaine lettuce which is usually cut off and discarded during prep. My fiancé really enjoyed his steak. This was a la carte so we ordered chips separately (of course) and a side of creamed spinach. The spinach had good flavour from the parmesan and pine nuts but it was not a traditional creamed spinach and was too strongly flavoured for my liking. It also wasn't really creamed - so, well order if you are feeling adventurous. My Shepherds Pie was probably the best I've had. Chunks of slow cooked lamb and a tasty gravy. The cheesy topped mash was nice. Things kind of went downhill from the delivery of our mains. I had to ask for the dirty coffee cup and starter dishes to be cleared. To be clear many people were randomly walking around nearby during the whole meal. It's just that no one was experienced enough to realise when things should be cleared or when people might want water (Hello! US! our bottle was empty and you never asked!!). The table next to us got up to get someone to get their bill and the couple on the other side were also sat with dirty mains plates and no one visiting to clear, as if everything was ok, etc. We wanted pudding and coffee as it was kind of a big celebration for us, but after 15 minutes with empty/dirty plates and no one bothering to ask if we needed anything we gave up and asked for the bill. Again, there were many many people wandering aimlessly around the dining room but no one seemed to understand what service was. Strangely they send you an email stating you are limited to 90 minutes at your table, but with the service being so slow/poor, it would probably be unlikely. I asked for the service charge to be removed. There really was none. Not like you would expect at this price point. To me it seemed like it was a work experience day. My son has been a few times in the evening. Swears it's better. I'm in no rush to go back. Yes the food is good/ and the decor is a vibe, but the meal should flow and we shouldn't be flagging people down to get the basics.

Even the toilet of the place was very clean, I can truly say that it is the most beautiful place I have seen in Oxford. I definitely recommend you to go.

Beautiful decor, service was great… The attention to detail in every drink was exceptional. Being from New York City I know what fine dining is, and this place blew it out the water. I mean you would think we are related to the royal family after the service we got. And the bartender….. I mean Yuh-meeeeee! Will definitely be back whenever I come back to Oxford for business or pleasure.. HeHe.

Beautiful restaurant where we met for a family breakfast. Bit underwealmed with the menu, and staff had to be reminded about orders for tea which had been forgotten. Also pastries were brought to the table after having been served a cooked breakfast. That for me is the wrong way round, and if that is their policy guests should be asked first. Staff also had to be told to check the ladies loo which wasn't as clean as it should have been.

Wonderful lunch. The service was excellent and the staff are always pleasant and attentive. Some excellent dishes - goat cheese salad, fried Halloumi, rabbit croquettes, and sadly a disappointing cod. The cod itself was ok and cooked well, but the salsa was not spicy at all, and overall the dish was a bit bland. Our mistake, so you shouldn't let it deter you from going here.

We didn’t have a reservation, but walked in anyways. Place was busy, so we asked if we could sit/eat at the bar. Hostess escorted us gently to the bar, where we ordered drinks and food. Service by the bar staff was knowledgeable, attentive and kind. Impeccable!

First things first. Service was good. The pie, so so. Maybe I was expecting too much from reading other people's reviews.
