I had the pleasure of being served by Emilija at Ivy Restaurant in Oxford, and I must say she truly made my dining experience unforgettable. From the moment we sat down, Emilija’s warmth, attentiveness, and genuine care made us feel like VIPs. She was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, offering excellent recommendations that suited our tastes perfectly. Her friendly demeanor and impeccable service throughout the meal went above and beyond. Emilija made our evening extra special, and I will definitely be returning, hoping to have her serve us again. Highly recommend her and Ivy Restaurant for an exceptional experience!

Fabulous food and excellent service but totally spoiled by allowing a party with 6 young children to make lots of noise as the kids ran amok. If you're paying £75 a head for a celebratory meal you don't want to have it in the middle of a McDonald's kids' party. If we (ever) go back to the Ivy we'll make sure to demand a table well away from any children.

We had the Rendang duck curry and Chicken Milanese, and both were delicious! The duck was flavorful and well-spiced, with a generous portion. The chicken was nicely cooked, and the accompanying sauce was very tasty. For dessert, we had the crème brûlée, which was perfectly light and enjoyable. The staff was incredibly polite and attentive, making our experience even better. I will definitely be coming back!

Very much enjoyed. Thank you for your service today, and for not ignoring solo diners. I take pride in going out alone and enjoying nice restaurants, as someone who works them myself. Having been here before an enjoyed the food, service and and atmosphere. My self my wife travelled down from Wolverhampton to meet our 2 close who friends who travelled up from Hampshire for catch up. Sadly the experience was the opposite of our first time, the service and food was average at best which made it well over priced for what we received. The staff were friendly but well under trained( didn’t even know how to serve wine correctly) My starter was a nice soufflé but my burger main was dry and woeful, and the rest of our group said there food was very average and could have got just has good if not better in a pub. Then they want to charge you a discretionary 12.5% service charge, which we asked a slightly shocked waitress them to remove. All in all it was was very underwhelming meal. This restaurant could do with training there staff to the standard of the Ivy in Birmingham

Came for afternoon tea very good food 3pm booking didn't get tea until 4pm ordered glass champagne which ch took 20mins to be served afternoon tea eventually came which was excellent. Not rushed to go at all which was lovely dietary food was taken care of. Only thing service charge bumped up the price was not offered option of getting giving a tip. Young man that served us was excellent just the food and drink coming out of kitchen having said that will come again to dine just with service charge but bumped price up to £55 .00 each and for pensioners seemed a little high.

Went for afternoon tea for a friend's birthday party. I am gluten intolerant so had different food items allocated to me so can't comment on the regular afternoon tea items. Staff was nice and kind. The first issue was that my coffee mug was dirty, with the previous drink's residue and coffee staining obviously there on the bottom. I didn't say anything and quietly cleaned it myself as I didn't want to make a fuss at my friend's party. Then came the food. My bread was so dry, I could only eat one. I gave my partner the other sandwich and he agreed it was the driest bread (even for gluten-free) that he'd ever tasted. The "brownies" were as hard as stone and impossible to cut with a knife. The only other cake provided was the scones which were actually lovely. The equivalent dessert to what my friends had on the gluten free menu was the frozen berries. Why were they frozen? So I asked the waited this time if I could have them microwaved and warmed, which he very kindly did, but said they were supposed to be frozen. Why? Don't ask me.... The place had a lovely atmosphere, no doubt there. However, I found the gluten free afternoon tea extremely disappointing and believe it needs huge improvements to be made as I personally wouldn't recommend it. For over £30, the quality of the food I was served left a lot to be desired.

The atmosphere, ambiance and courtesy of the staff continues to be excellent here, but unfortunately the food was disappointing on our latest visit. Ordered zucchini fritti for the table, and whilst the portion was generous, they were very soggy and didn't really taste of anything. My main (half chicken) was all right, but the thigh part was very slimy and quite unpleasant to eat. I wanted to feed back about the food but didn't want to come across like I wanted it re-cooked, or was trying to get the meal comped, so was hoping I could mention it when we were asked. Unfortunately nobody checked back on us, or asked how it was when the table was cleared, nor were we asked how it was even when paying the bill. So a little frustrating to have been slightly forgotten about, and a shame to spend quite a bit on a meal that was quite unappealing.

Absolutely stunning restaurant, not our first time going but for our anniversary and we were greeted with nothing but friendliness. The food was stunning, we had chicken skewers, lobster linguini, shepherd's pie & the "special occasion" chocolate bomb, all we're beautifully cooked. A great botanical atmosphere which feels fresh but not overly cluttered, some of the table positions can be tricky to navigate when going to use the facilities especially near the bar but nothing uncomfortable. Just make sure to give way to staff coming from the kitchens located in the same area. We spent nearly £100pp for food & drinks but we felt you got what you paid for in portion size & quality.

Our waiter was a man named Servesh who had some brilliant suggestions to my partner who was not familiar with the menu and was on hand to help with all of our needs. He was especially prudent in checking for our allergies, something I was quite happy to see. Food was really good, and the drinks menu is incredibly well stocked. My dining experience at this restaurant was nothing short of absurd and frustrating, and I left feeling completely ignored. After seeing other negative reviews, it became clear that I wasn’t the only one who had such an experience. Although it’s been two weeks since my visit, I feel compelled to share my thoughts. I had made a reservation in advance, yet when I arrived, there was no one to greet me. I had to walk in by myself and approached a female member of staff to let her know I had a booking. She didn’t even let me finish speaking before walking away. I then turned to a male member of staff, informed him of my reservation, and he said someone would come and escort me to my table. I stood by the entrance for almost three minutes, waiting, and no one acknowledged me. The whole situation was incredibly awkward. Eventually, a man came over, asked if I needed assistance, and then finally showed me to my seat. The ordering experience was just as unpleasant. I sat there for about 20 minutes, trying to make eye contact with staff. Only after several obvious attempts did someone finally notice that this "single lady" might actually want to order. I simply cannot understand how a supposedly iconic and well-regarded restaurant can leave a customer feeling so weary and disrespected. Then, the checkout process was even more baffling. After clearing my plate, the waiter walked off, but unlike other customers who had the courtesy of having the card machine brought to their table, I was left to walk up to the counter myself to pay. It was utterly absurd and quite rude. Overall, the atmosphere at this restaurant was one of discourtesy, neglect, and even a sense of discrimination. I can’t help but wonder: if I hadn’t been a solo Asian woman dining alone, would I have been treated with the same disregard?

Overall, nice place with good food, but the requirement to carry my son's ID to the restaurant feels a bit excessive for the occasion, besides, by law over 16s are allowed to consume beer or wine with meal when accompanied by parents in hotels and restaurants. The request to present my son's ID, who clearly looks older than 16, he is couple of months shy of 18, also undermines my judgement as a parent by a water, who was looking not much older than 16. I understand that there are rules, but it was not a good feeling and could be done in a different, perhaps more sensitive way. Some drinks were forgotten and we had to remind couple of times. Part from that, it was OK, in my view too expensive for the overall experience and food.

Have to say I was disappointed. The food was nice but I expected more for the price. The biggest issue for me was I communicated on booking I have a shellfish allergy, and again twice on arrival. I wasn’t able to have chips as the same oil is used to fry shellfish - I would expect there to be separate facilities for this (also note to vegans/vegatarians here), the bench seat I was on was dirty and had the remnants of someone’s dinner on it, the tables were so close we may have well been at the same one. I had to leave before finishing as the table next to us ordered all the foods/shellfish I think they offer (just my luck) and started reacting to this very quickly. This ruined the rest of the day due to having to dose up on medication and hope for the best. If you can’t offer a safe service to people with allergies you should make this very clear, it cost £90 for my daughter I to not be able to stay to finish or have a dessert. I have been to other establishments that sell shellfish and they have always been accommodating and ensured I had space around me and that everything was prepared and served separately so not sure why this is not possible here. And one last comment, one of the ladies on the door was quite rude/unwelcoming and set the meal off to a negative start too.

Spent the evening with a celebratory dinner for my birthday with my 2 girls at The Ivy in Oxford. Fantastic service from the off, and absolutely wonderful quality food. We all started with the venison tartar, which was SO delicious, and then the black miso cod, and lobster linguine..couldn't fault anything. The real stars of my meal were the 2 waiters that couldn't do enough for us; they were so helpful and attentive, so a BIG thank you to Sam and Rahul, but especially to Rahul who really pulled the stops out to make me feel special on my birthday, thank you again. (Just noticed that the snowman desert served to us was nowhere near as well presented as the snowmen that other people have posted! What a shame...no ski's, no snow, and shoddy presentation in comparison...the chef could take a lesson on taking pride in all that he/she does from the waiting staff! Grrr )

I tried out restaurants that were significantly more expensive, but the service was still incomparable. The food at the Ivy was amazing! I had afternoon tea and fish and chips, along with a few drinks. The cucumber sandwich and breakfast blend (yes, in the afternoon) tea were my favorite. As I mentioned above, the service was perfect! As a tourist, it was pleasing to see people who actually cared about my experience. I asked the server if they sold their tea blends; he said no but went in the back and gave me two bags. Phenomenal! Weird experience today. I mentioned I was allergic to peanuts, cashews, and pine nuts. The waitress took note, my lentil and aubergine plate arrived with a little flag written ALLERGEN. And, yet, two bites in, I started having an allergic reaction. Nut allergies are a spectrum, and "fortunately" I was "only" left with nausea, mild swelling, and stomach pain for hours… but didn't have to go to the hospital. I was also fortunate not to vomit all over the restaurant. Sadly, the only reaction from the staff was to explain to me that the meal was nut-free and they separate nuts in the kitchen, so it couldn't be their fault. I have been patch tested at the hospital and react only to nuts, so what happened? It could be a cross-contamination in the supply chain, an ingredient wrongly labelled, a mistake in the kitchen… Risks will always exist, don't tell me it's not your fault. I just went to look at the allergen list online (on tenkites dot com), and it's confusing. For instance, they have a starter pumpkin and squash soup with pine nuts… which is labelled as free from tree nuts (they are sometimes seen as seeds, not nuts). If I had to guess, the waitress forgot to inform the chef I was allergic to "pine nuts" and my meal actually contained them. Bottom line: if you have any allergy, be very careful, and ask the chef for the exact list of ingredients for each meal—given that their allergy board is wrong. Do not go if you have strong allergic reactions.

There was no need to be so mean with the jam; I had to scrape a smear of jam onto each side of the jam. The clotted cream wasn’t much better. The cakes were pretty bland and the tea list was pretty sparse. I have had much better afternoon teas for nearly half the cost elsewhere. They are trading on their name. Beautiful setting.Service was good, except for the fact they kept removing our wine and it took more than one request to get it back. Also they removed my wife's drink before she had finished. But to be fair they did replace foc..Food was lovely, really enjoyed the blackened cod.Overall would visit again, but felt there was room for improvement.

One of the best authentic cafes, bar and restaurant in Oxford. One of the best fish&chips dish I ever had. The place is luxurious and elegant. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The service is excellent. All in all, the Ivy is a must visit place!

The Ivy offers a wonderful dining experience, combining an inviting atmosphere with exceptional food. Each dish I tried was flavorful and beautifully presented, showcasing the chef's talent. The service was equally impressive—attentive and knowledgeable without being intrusive, which added to the overall enjoyment of the meal. Whether for a special occasion or a casual outing, The Ivy is a great choice. I highly recommend it and look forward to my next visit.

Went for lunch for my mums 85th birthday- On 05/10/2024 at 1pm - Sadly manager of the day poorly communicated with us- firstly we received our main courses before the starters then had to wait for them to be re cooked - added delay- no compensation - then I paid in cash - manger took the money - we waited 30mins until we had communication from the manager that they were keeping the change- they kept the receipt - and the time delays ruined my mums birthday - there are plenty of other restaurants which are much better in service in Oxford-

Party of 15. The food was good, a bit more emphasis on flavour and taste is needed. I'd rate it as good, but not exceptional. The main waiting staff we had was competent and helpful. However, a specific server who served the linguine definitely needs some training. Hot skillet held really close to the face. Was a health and safety risk and left our table gasping. The atmosphere was great. We loved the quirky interiors and decor.

Service was outstanding though food was slow and did not come out together for the whole table. Plus they cannot get their steaks doneness right which is a shame. Atmosphere was fantastic, really bright atmosphere compared to traditional English restaurants.

Made a reservation here for my husband’s birthday and I can say it really didn’t disappoint. We went for the Autumn Set Menu and ordered a couple of extras. The food is nicely delivered, the service is great, the staff is extremely friendly and goes that extra mile to keep you happy.. The atmosphere speaks for itself.. I enjoyed the duck salad and the salmon option whilst my husband had steak and the wheat durum starter.. I strongly suggest the creme brulee..

Food was excellent, but the service was not as good as usual. Our server was inattentive and didn't seem bothered. Never asked how we found the food or whether we wanted water. Trying to get the bill was difficult too.

Booked a table using the app for my birthday, arrived to be told my table had been cancelled, but showed the staff the app and they could see it was an error on their side and sorted it eventually. We both Order a non alcoholic cocktail that was recommended to me by the server and it just tasted of soda water and had no flavour at all, it was the blood orange spritz. We then decided to order the angelic ameretti sour non alcohol cocktail, we had 3 and they were not topped with the cherry or lemon slice. Although they did taste good. The app also said I would get a complimentary dessert as it was a birthday booking but no dessert came or was offered, we even asked for the bill and still nothing came, service charge was added of £14 for the 2 of us which we paid but felt very disappointed by our experience. We also had our drinks taken away when we had not finished them and we felt very rushed to pay the bill as we were approached twice before we were ready. We left after only being at the Ivy for 60 mins. Felt very short changed and very disappointed. We have been to various Ivy restaurants and have always been treated with such amazing service and great food and drinks, so this was such a big disappointment to us both.

Ornate place calculated to serve the "upper echelon." With music, it had a convivial feel, but without (which had gone away when we returned to actually dine), it was a bit burdened for a visitor on holiday. We had only cider & tea, so I can offer no opinion on the food. Service was pleasant but impersonal. We probably would have enjoyed a sidewalk cafe more, but for the rain.

I had high hopes when we walked in and were seated. However my opinion started to go down after that. The vegetarian menu was so limited and I opted for the Wild Mushroom and Truffle Linguine. This was basically spaghetti with some sliced mushroom in a sauce. At £16.95 this was a joke. I did not wish to complain at the time as I was out on a special occasion with friends. The loud talking of the other dinners made for a miserable evening. Rest assured, I will not return.

We had a great evening at The Jericho. The staff, Ellie in particular, were so helpful - allowing us to try some of the different beers before deciding. A friend was visiting from Sweden and they loved the experience. Thank you

I hate doing this. Went to the Prince of Wales today Friday to have a quiet drink before going home. Unfortunately a family group came in directly after me. There was an adult person allowing his very young child to run around screaming. I put up with it for 4/5 high pitched screams. After that returned my half finished pint to the bar and left. Perhaps the staff should have reminded the group, it is a public house not a kindergarten. (Went to the Tree hotel down the road). Please do something about your family policy so that we can all enjoy you establishment.
