The Ivy Oxford Brasserie in Oxford

This restaurant is very beautiful, the staff are so friendly and the food is delicious. The staff took a lot of trouble to adept their menu to cater for my allergies. As it was my birthday they made a special pudding, no charge. I would highly recommend this restaurant and we will be back.

This was very disappointing: poor service, over-cooked fish, undercooked meat, 20 minutes before we were asked if we would like a drink, another 20 minutes before the food order was taken, 20 minutes before the starter arrived, the starter cleared away, followed by 30 minute wait for the main course, this was then cleared away and then another 40 minutes before the deserts arrived. The staff were really polite and appologetic and didn’t charge for the puddings, but by then the whole meal had become a fiasco. I have eaten in several Ivy Restaurants and this was not up to their normal standard

Stunning interior with an excellent atmosphere helped immensely by Maria, our server. The food and drinks were also superb.

I had the lobster linguine. The lobster was overcooked and chewy. There was very little flavour. The table service was rushed, plates were taken before we had finished eating.

Visited twice! Once I used the afternoon tea set and once I used the dinner set. The afternoon tea set was reasonably priced, beautifully plated, and the taste was decent! The daytime atmosphere here is so pretty, so it’s great for afternoon tea. The dinner wasn't as tasty as the afternoon tea set, but it wasn't bad! It was a great place to have a quick meal with friends.

Maybe I came with too high expectations. The wait of 15 minutes for our drinks is what we didn't like. My friend wanted to walk out after 10 minutes and they weren't even that busy. Needless to say it was a nice experience.

My first visit to the Ivy. Was taken by my partner who had been a few times before Really excellent food and at a reasonable price. The Zucchini Fritti and Cheese soufflé were divine. Would certainly return.

The food and whole atmosphere was amazing! Lucy our waitress was very attentive. Only comment was that one of the cocktails (West End Hold Up) I had again tasted amazing but was sprayed with something red of the outside which was most impractical for all parties, the bar staff, the waitress and especially the paying customer. I wore a white dress, so felt quite uneasy with this detail. Over all though the whole experience was spot on! Thank you!

Only had drinks but very pleasant

Our arrival to the Ivy Oxford was very welcoming by a lovely and smiling receptionist called Aneta. We were quickly taken our table in a great part of the restaurant where we were extremely well looked after by Lucy. Service was impeccable with the manager on duty called Llewy who insured we were being well looked after. The food was decent too. Thanks for a great brunch!

Just the perfect example of a decent restaurant where not really much disappoints. The steak is very good, medium rare. Other nice dishes include the fillet and burger. Atmosphere is nice but very crowded sometimes.

Had a quick meal here with colleagues. The decor is pretty spectacular. Service was great (but it was quieter while I was there so not a testing time). Food was excellent. I had prawn cocktail to start which was very tasty. The prawns were a good standard and size and there was a plentiful helping of avocado. Then I moved onto the black cod which came on a leaf. It was cooked to perfection and the glaze had a nice sear to it. Felt like someone enjoyed putting the fish together. Wasn’t sure the asparagus was needed on the plate. I’d have gone with something sweeter like a swede or turnip. Overall great place. I’m not the often but if I lived there I would go more. They also have a decent looking lunchtime menu for under £20 which is a steal.

So disappointed. Third visit for afternoon tea but this experience was way below par from the others. They only serve a chocolate tea at the moment but one of our party can’t eat chocolate. They did make two adjustments but this didn’t really make up for everything! The amount and quality of the tea seemed far less than on the previous occasions. I can only add a pic of the current tea but it was nothing compared to last years. Previously we could not rave about the teas enough and I’ve recommended this over and over again to people. This time the quality was poor and the chocolate caramel slice advertised wasn’t on the platter. We got served a Madeline cake that appeared to be straight out of a packet which was really a joke for that price. On previous occasions there has been far too much food and on this occasion you definitely could not say that. The food was amazing last year, this year it was very basic. The food took fifty minutes to arrive. We had to wait for everything. The barman was a little obnoxious telling us when we tried to work out if the soda water was on tap or sparkling water “They aren’t the tap kind of establishmen putting us firmly in our place! “ And when we joked that the corner two fixed seats at the bar were close together a bit like getting through a turnstile to get on them, “some people do find them close together ” which came across a tad rude in context at the time! All in all, probably the last time we will go here. The food and service was not a patch on last year. They did reduce our bill a little but it was an absolute battle, at £120 plus service for two full teas and two cream teas plus a little fizz, It would just have been nice to have had the same amazing experience and quality of food as on previous occasions.

Arranged a business meeting in Oxford and then visited the Ivy. Food was amazing, service was excellent as well Our waiter / Francisco looked after us all night, the drinks service and advice from him was excellent. He managed all our courses and made sure we had a great evening Will definitely return

The Ivy always being reliable and never betrayed me. I’ve been to a few branches in London but the Oxford branch is as good as the ones in London, if not a little better. I often take my clients to Oxford, and the Ivy is definitely one of the safest and greatest choices for a lunch break. The staff who served us was very attentive and helpful, and my clients were all happy about their meal and the vibe. I appreciate The Ivy always keeps their hospitality and service standards the same everywhere, which is very welcoming and memorable.

We had a wonderful lunch with no booking at The Ivy on a busy Saturday afternoon. They were very accommodating (we had an excellent spot at the bar) and the food was excellent. The food, drinks and ambience was further enhanced by really excellent service from all the staff, with a special shout out to Janssen who was very attentive, made sure we had a great lunch and gave us some fab travel trips to top it off!

A* Service and Food, Staff couldn’t have been more attentive fitting us in earlier than our original booking, Drinks arrived within minutes of ordering, Food was absolutely perfect, presented beautifully and throughly enjoyed by us all. Atmosphere was so relaxing and not rushed to eat and leave, music was right level that we could enjoy it but also talk among ourselves. Definitely worth a visit and already looking at planning next visit.

The most curtious, polite and considerate service I've experienced in a long while. The food was extremely well presented and great tasting. Worth every penny.

Had high hopes going in. I was disappointed. No draught beers. 7.5£ for a bottled beer, that’s steep. Had the burger, not very good and almost twenty quids.

We had stunning food but we waited 15 minutes for our wine. My friend wanted to walk out as to us it was totally unacceptable. It was my friend's special birthday and we'd been to the Alice for lunch and we went to The Morse Bar after The Ivy. Both of the latter the service was exceptional. Besides that the food was very good and the service did improve but the finer points need attention.

I recently dined at The Ivy Oxford Brasserie and I was thoroughly impressed by the impeccable service provided by waiter Anna Matiakh. The environment is nice,however I think the speed of food serving is too slow! The onion soup is a mix of butter and water, they’re separate with each other so taste not good for me. We waited for the fish cake and pasta for half an hour, and I don’t think it is reasonable… Is it because we are Asian students?Is this discrimination? ?so sad for it… The waiter even imitated me by banging his fist on the table after seeing me holding a knife and fork. I do not understand at all!There were two Asian women who sitting beside us,they got their meals much earlier but ordered later than us. Feel so disappointed and confused about this restaurant. Well, I have to say that the fish cake and pasta are worth to try.

Had cod fish wrapped in banana leaf. It was good, but the portion was small. I don’t eat much normally, but I did not feel full afterwards. This place is all about the looks/decoration only, very pricey as well.

I love the Ivy restaurant , the atmosphere is amazing no need to comment about it , i would like to come all the time and eat the delicious food ! Enjoyed Mother’s Day lunch here. Selection was great and the champagne and wine was lovely. Staff were welcoming and it felt special when we walked in. Felt as though tables were very close, but Mum enjoyed herself and it was reasonably priced. Would recommend.

The food was bland and flavourless, not very hot, although it arrived quickly. The coriander & coconut were missing from the sticky rice, it was merely boiled rice - disappointing. The flat ironed chicken was tasteless & quite greasy with little sauce (flavourless as well)....

We enjoyed our evening. The food was very nice, not amazing but very nice. Scallop starter served in shells - there were a few small queenie scallops in each shell, I would have preferred 1 x king scallop in each, it felt like 'cutting corners' to save cost. Service was good although felt a bit rushed, the main course came out literally 1 minute after starters finished. But, as soon as I'd paid the bill, the waiters stopped smiling and totally ignored us... so it felt like the good service was just until we had paid! Overall we had a great evening, just a couple of things that I felt like I need to mention

Booker afternoon tea after waiting 45 mins to get seated at a table and the a further 45 mins to then get the afternoon which we booked 1.5 hours after we should of started was appauling The afternoon tea was poor quality, dry bread no explanation of what We had to eat , too many cakes not enough savoury options really poor slow unsatisfying service will not be recommending this to anyone

A weekend away with friends, and we chose the Ivy due to the choices on the menu - something for everyone. From the minute we arrived til departed, the customer service was absolutely brilliant. Totally made the evening. Food was delicious, and we enjoyed two courses - too full for a dessert even though they looked amazing. Beautiful bottle of wine, we took one of the waiter's recommendations - and we would not hesitate to recommend to anyone. The atmosphere was buzzing too!

Great place to have lunch. Good atmosphere and terrific linguine accompanied by a nice white wine. Don't hesitate to visit the place.

Afternoon tea. Selection of sandwiches, scones and desserts with tea of choice. The Ivy chain are well presented as was this one, unfortunately the background music was less background and more 'need to ask the waiters to repeat everything' level. Also we had to ask several times for things ie spoons for the dessert that should already have been provided.

Food quality and texture could have been better.. service was regularly delayed but restaurant was not full.

This restaurant is decorated really nicely and the staff are friendly and welcoming. The food (squid, fishcake and truffle chips) were delicious. The wine list is extensive and offers plenty of choice. The only negative I can say is the table we were at was way too close to other tables on either side. Bit awkward with the other diners on either side and felt unable to talk privately.

The afternoon tea came with nice effects. The sweets were ok but the sandwiches were bland. I don't think that the food is worth to 30 pounds. We went quite late in the afternoon which was good, because the restaurant was almost empty.

It's a chain of fashionable restaurants in London, and although it doesn't serve dishes unique to Oxford, the food is delicious. I order zucchini fries every time I visit. For lunch in Oxford on Saturdays and Sundays, good restaurants can get crowded, so it's best to make a reservation.

We booked the high tea on Saturday. It was naturally very busy in the restaurant however I didn’t understand why the tables for two were so small that our experience was very cramped. The sandwiches were fresh and delicious however, the scones were bought in and were more like a rock cake. Very Heavy and hard. The milk shake is oat milk and was powdered. The beautiful tea set was made from silver. Looked the part but was too hot to actually pour! Sadly we will not be coming again

Our visit this evening was a bit of a rollercoaster. The Bang Bang salad started off on a lackluster note, and unfortunately, the lobster pasta was overcooked,lobster also overcooked and chewy. The fillet steak, although cooked to a medium-rare perfection, was surprisingly chewy and overly salty, leading to a substantial amount left on the plate. What saved the day was the impeccable service from our brilliant waitress, who took charge halfway through the service. The cocktails were a highlight, and our son's dessert, recommended by the waitress, ended the meal on a sweet note. However, despite the positives, the £250 bill later felt somewhat steep for an overall experience that leaned towards the average side.

Had a great meal in Ivy on the last night of our stay in oxford. Food was great even though we hadn’t booked. Felt very welcomed!!

Delicious food and courteous service were good at a reasonable price. If you are a hungry Korean traveler It's better to tell them to prepare Main or Desert quickly.

Tasty dishes but very slow service. The Asian menu is lovely. We had the sticky pudding as dessert and it was a top choice, if you like caramel flavoured cakes, that one is for you.

I am extremely disappointed with my recent experience at The Ivy Oxford. As someone who was recommended this place by multiple friends, I had high expectations, but unfortunately, they were not met. The service was subpar from the moment we arrived. While the hosts at the door were welcoming, the waiters showed a noticeable lack of courtesy and attention towards our table. Throughout the evening, they seemed more interested in other guests, neglecting our table. This differential treatment left me feeling unwelcome and overlooked. The wait time for our meals was unreasonably long. We waited for over 15 minutes for our starters and more than 30 minutes for our main courses. When we kindly asked a waiter (a tall black man) to check on our order, his response was dismissive and unprofessional. The manager's subsequent visit was equally disappointing, as he defensively stated that their standard delivery time for food is approximately 25 minutes. It felt like they were deflecting blame rather than addressing our concerns. When my steak finally arrived, it was overly salty and nearly inedible. When I expressed my dissatisfaction to the manager, he offered to replace the dish. However, he later returned to inform me that there were no more servings of the dish I had initially ordered, leaving me with no satisfactory alternative. This only added to my frustration. Overall, my experience at The Ivy Oxford was highly disappointing. I left feeling hungry and dissatisfied. Considering the recommendations I had received from friends about The Ivy Guildford and other branches, I expected much better service and food quality. I hope that the management takes this feedback seriously and makes the necessary improvements. Every customer should be treated with respect and attentiveness, regardless of any factors. Additionally, it is vital for The Ivy Oxford to uphold the high standards of food quality that it is known for. I would caution others considering dining at The Ivy Oxford to be aware of the shortcomings in service and food quality that I encountered. I hope my review helps in improving the overall experience for future customers.

complete disappointment, it was my 3rd visit, this time we celebrated my wife's birthday, and we will never go back there again, we received a voucher for 20% on this occasion, the manager had some problem, I'm sorry, I won't go into detail, but what was worst was the waitress the waiter and the manager stood next to them as if they were solving the problem, but in fact it looked like they were making fun of them, when the waitress realized I saw her, she said we were being watched, after a while the problem was solved, but I will never go back there

Beautiful interior and a lovely atmosphere for eating in. The food was good but not amazing. The staff however were amazing with quick service and knowledgeable answers to all our questions. I normally ask for the auto-added, cheeky service charge to be removed, but I let I slide this time as we couldn't have asked for more.

Really liked the setup of this place. The interior is really nice, and it seems to have a good vibe to it. I wasn't sure if there were also toilets downstairs but I did wonder about accessibility. There may well have been a toilet that I've missed but it came to mind when thinking of how others would get on. Food was good, not quite my thing but of you like burgers and steaks I'm sure you'd enjoy. Liked that the mocktail menu wasn't just three items.

Amazing place with really nice decor... service was great.. Starters were very good. The mains bit let down. Fish and chips was worst than what is served at the local supermarket restaurant. Rest of the mains we had were pretty average for the price paid.

Went for my Parents birthday celebrations. Having visited before I knew that the atmosphere and service would be good. The set menu at £19:17 for two courses good value for Oxford. My father is very fussy being a retired chef and will always criticise, and even he enjoyed it. High praise indeed!

After being invited back by the manager to celebrate something that hasn't gone to plan earlier in the month, I have been so impressed at how every single thing was perfect this afternoon. The food was lovely, the service was fantastic and the attention to detail was excellent. Amazing, just amazing. Thank you!

Ate there Saturday night for the first time but have been to a couple of Ivy's in London before. It is a large site, nicely laid out in the Ivy style though the tables are very close together. Do not go expecting to have an intimate chat with someone as you can hear what people either side of you are saying. Food was OK, but a little sloppy compared to the London sites. Zuchinni fritti was undercooked and a bit mushy, and for both mains Blackened Cod and Bricked Chicken the sauces had a production line feel to them. Generous portion on the chicken though. Waiter upsold a side dish by saying the chicken only came with a couple of beans which was incorrect. Chocolate bomb still makes a great dessert. A £19.17 set menu had been mentioned in an email I got but this was not offered on the evening, so ended up spending £30 more than expected, which was disappointing, to say the least. The Ivy positions itself as slightly above the other chains such as Cote, Brasserie Blanc and Browns, and charges maybe 20% more. Not sure it is really worth that though can understand why people would occasionally go there for a change.

Went for breakfast here and we were not disapointed. Excellent food and excellent service.

This is one of the poorest dining experiences I’ve had in an establishment that touts themselves as a high end eatery. It is a far cry from its sister restaurants in London. The service is slow. The young waiter had never heard of a “blue” steak and consequently a well cooked fillet was produced. Incorrect dishes were presented and despite being told, they still were not replaced. The waiter who was “in charge” of our service area proceeded to pour an entire bottle of Rose wine into four glasses, presumably in an attempt to encourage us to buy more. Nobody enjoys a warm glass of Rose, especially not at £50 a bottle for the house wine. You expect slow and inexperienced service in a Toby Inn, not at the prestigious and high end restaurants such as this. If you book here make sure you’re prepared for an over priced and disappointing night out.
