I love this pub! The atmosphere and the history are amazing. The bar staff (especially Harvey, what a legend) are all wonderful. If I could Harvey 5 stars personally, I would. He let me pay for his drinks

In a rather astonishing display of ‘how not to run a bar’, Sam somehow managed to make himself look like he’d stepped into his first day as a failed GCSE hospitality worker, not only this; but in a jaw-dropping clown-show of ineptitude, he managed to single-handedly display how he’d be out of his depth running a bath. Never before have I witnessed someone so laughably Inexperienced in bar management. The other staff we encountered were excellent, so much so that we had planned to leave a glowing review, however this was abruptly ruined by Sam who (we can only assume wanted to close early) accused one of our party of being drunk. This was simply not the case. He wouldn’t actually state which one of us was ‘drunk’ as that would have meant justifying his childish, Trump-like behaviour. He then went off and hid. The staff were embarrassed and we were left bemused. It was bizarre. In short, Sam ruined a perfectly good evening because he wanted to go home. We spoke with the staff who all agreed that he’d quite clearly made a fool out of himself. It later transpires (one of the staff told us) that Sam was ‘in a bad mood as he wasn’t meant to be working tonight’, this was very evident. We’ll be speaking with the team at M&B on Monday to discuss this further, they clearly need to be aware that they have someone so laughably inexperienced representing them.

Odd experience. Refused to serve us, because one of our party was 'too drunk'. Staff commented making reference to my husband and his appearance being gay, when he is straight. We'd been for dinner, and came in for a few drinks. None of our party were drunk, so couldnt really understand Sam's judgement. Jamie was lovely, and equally perplexed as to why we weren't served.

Would love to go back for a gig, I stopped by for a dinner and drinks with my parents, and didn’t realize the music history of this place. Radiohead, Foals, Glass Animals and many other bands used to play here in their early days.

No es el mejor rollo. La comida era mediocre, el personal del bar estaba bastante malhumorado, las mesas eran pegajosas. Tampoco creo que el lugar sea apto para perros - no en un sentido real. Preferiría ir a otro lugar - lugares mucho más amables alrededor!

Just wanted to thank the amazing staff who (free of charge) replaced my son's burger after we accidentally put chili sauce on it instead of ketchup. It was incredibly busy but they were brilliantly attentive and welcoming. I have been visiting this lovely pub for years and the experience is always lovely 😍

Una experiencia magnífica para un almuerzo de cumpleaños. 3 sillas de ruedas eléctricas, 3 personas con buen cuerpo y un perro pastor alemán de asistencia todos acomodados con facilidad y sin tarifa de ventilador. Fácil de entrar y salir y el inodoro para discapacitados era totalmente accesible, perro apreciaba el acceso al jardín para sus necesidades de aseo. El ambiente era encantador, pudimos relajarnos, ponernos al día y hacer recuerdos encantadores. La comida y las bebidas eran divertidas y relación calidad-precio. El camarero era muy amable, informativo y disponible cuando sea necesario sin ser demasiado intrusivo. Realmente triste que viva demasiado lejos para que este sea mi pub

a party of 3 wheelchair users, assistance dog and 3 able bodied people. The table set up was brilliant to accommodate us all. Our waiter was friendly, helpful and and very patient. Sadly, don't live in Oxford this was a Birthday weekend away but would have no hesitation in recommending The Jericho

I visited this pub recently and was disappointed with how I was treated. While I understand that ID policies must be enforced, I was the only one in my group singled out for having a foreign ID. My Romanian identity card was questioned, whereas my Belgian and Italian friends were served without any issues—even though their IDs similarly did not meet the stated criteria. I was threatened with removal and made to feel criminalized for what should have been an administrative matter. Even if the policy requires me to leave, the interaction could have been handled with far more empathy and respect. I hope management takes this feedback to heart and ensures that all guests are treated with the basic human decency they deserve.

Amazing service, atmostphere and food @ The Jericho! I booked Jericho to host a birthday party with roughly 25 people. Right from the stages of enquiry through to the day of the event, the team at Jericho were prompt to respond to my many querries, always welcome, kind and respectful. I had arranged for processo to be served to the guests on arrival, as well as help with serving the birthday cake. The staff made sure that prompt service was always available throughout the evening. They booked the entire area on the left next to the windows with ample seating for the event, ensuring we have a private nook to ourselves to mingle and celebrate. Loved the interiors too. Thanks to Mac, Nyall, Ellie and the bar staff (whose names I do not know unfortunately) for being simply wonderful! Absolutely chuffed.

We had a great evening at The Jericho. The staff, Ellie in particular, were so helpful - allowing us to try some of the different beers before deciding. A friend was visiting from Sweden and they loved the experience. Thank you

Went for a gig upstairs, brilliant venue. Ate downstairs first lovely food and atmosphere.

Friendly quick delicious food with great bowls and sushi. Excellent service and great tea. Don't miss the appetisers; the takoyaki is an absolute joy. Perfect for a pre-gig meal, an evening meal to collect and take home, or a fun pile of sushi snacks.

I came as a costumers with intolerances. They didn't had too many options for me but I know it is very difficult for me. They double checked for me everything this is why took a little bit longer to take my order. I appreciate it so much and the food was very nice. Every one of us had a good time. Sending well done for the chefs and for the bartenders.. I builded up a pretty big queue because of my order. Sry : DD ♡

I went for the live music upstairs and as a venue its great and fantastic that theres another venue in Oxford supporting original bands with good equipment and facilities. The Bar lady was very friendly but over £6.50 for a pint of stout is pretty expensive for a "grass roots pub". What really knocked my thoughts on the place was the overpowering smell of bar detergent downstairs, that sickly diluted bleach smell . So much so, that If I was drinking downstairs with mates, I would have had to leave the place. However the place was lively with students so I assume they had become noseblind being down there . Obviously pubs need to clean up spillage etc but In the 3 hours I was upstairs it was still overpowering when I came downstairs. Definitely recommend for live music and the upstairs area, but maybe a change to a more fragrant cleaner would be worth a thought 😊

It's not bad. Food is ok. Bit mean with chips I felt but then I like chips a lot! Spicy chicken burger was not v spicy but was tasty.

Staff a bit rude and uninterested. The girl just dumped my can of guinness 0 unopened in front of me and walked off. Rude to my wife about her cider choice. Not a bad pub but won't be back in a hurry

Espantoso. Fuimos a tomar algo al jardín. Sucio y absoluto desastre. Llegó por la tarde. Hombre limpiando hojas a nuestro alrededor. Chef ayudando a sujetar saco para él usando su delantal! Habla mucho.

Nice place, but a word of advice: don't have cocktails... I had an aperol spritz, very not sparkling, and you hardly feel the taste of the aperol. When telling us at the bar, they told us that they respected the doses and that if we want more, we have to pay for a shot, whereas a small drop would have been enough... The shopkeeper offered us another cocktail. Which I preferred to refuse for fear that it would be the same problem, and it's a shame to waste water given the climate crisis. The manager would rather throw away a cocktail than add a drop of alcohol… Damage. Have a beer you might be less disappointed.

Sin embargo, la rubia teñida detrás de la barra no dio ningún interés, ya que estaba boca abajo en un iPad, a pesar de que nos quedamos allí un par de minutos! No estoy interesado en absoluto, obviamente no necesito ningún negocio, el pub estaba vacío! ¡No te molestes!

The Jericho hosted a party for us (7-12pm). Everything was brilliant - hugely supportive staff and management, as well as events. The food was really good and much enjoyed and the venue a perfect place for a retirement do with live band, lots of dancing and still room to eat and chat. Also great to have a garden to break out into both before and during the party. A huge thanks to all involved.

Lovely staff very helpful Tricked me with the 2 for 13 as there is No signage saying until 8pm so I got done over on drinks. The condiments were mostly empty with staff saying we had a Busy day! If you don’t have fresh ketchup and Mayo to give to customers don’t give them mostly empty bottles please. They didn’t have nachos… I mean you use wraps cut up and baked and coop is just next door. The steak and frites should have been fillet… if it was it was mostly the fat from the fillet of which was mostly left on plate as my Wife wanted steak Not mostly fat! Worst visit ever and it was for our 25th wedding anniversary as we know the tavern does great food…. Wasn’t that great for my wife My Fish was lovely The chips left a lot to be desired on a plate with a 15£ tag I gave a 7 because the staff otherwise it would be less than 5 Filthy soaked bar and cleanliness level below par. Sort it out Tavern. I recommend this place to my foreign students and want to continue to do so Fee

First time in the Jericho. Maybe it was because I had to trudge through heavy rain to get there but I arrived a bit grumpy. Had a very nice pint of Hogs Back and the atmosphere seemed very niice. I left much happier... and the rain had stopped.

Good drinks but disappointed by the bad attitude of a staff member , she was unnecessarily rude, will not be returning any time soon

We reserved the upstairs venue from 12pm till midnight for our wedding celebrations. Throughout the prep process, the staff were super helpful, communicative and understanding. On the day, the Jericho team set-up the site far more than we even expected and then proceeded to do an amazing job of serving all the guests and accommodating our every request. Both Aleena, Billy and other staff members were fantastic and we couldn't have been happier with the support and the overall venue. We loved the location, the decor (those lights!) and the sound system for the music. And even afterwards the staff were so nice, allowing us to pick up our things later. Genuinely a 5 star service and venue, we'll be telling people about this for ages.

1st time in there so my review is not that meaningful. It was a late Sunday afternoon and fairly quiet inside. Staff very friendly. But it has that buzz, you can tell. Bands regularly on too. Would go again if you like a traditional pub with cool vibe

We booked the venue to hold a concert "An Afternoon with Celtic Heartbeat" as part of the Oxford Folk Festival. The staff downstairs were very friendly and helpful, Mikey the sound man was great. Some people came to watch and drink and some stayed to eat. All in all it was a veryt positive experience.

Popped in for a quick drink before going out for a family meal, 12 of us in total. The team were lovely and friendly and the service quick. Cocktails were also great. Will definitely be back soon.

Nice enough pub but why do you have to deafen everybody with such earsplittingly loud music? I go to a pub for a drink and a chat, not a drink and a "shout so loud you end up going hoarse". I went to The Bear earlier in the week and the contrast couldn't have been greater; no music at all and we were able to have a nuanced conversation without having to bellow in to each other's ears.

Had dinner here with my boyfriend last week and it was lovely. Friendly staff, nice food, decent priced drinks. I also like that they allow dogs too.

A marvellous pub with tasty beer and superb selection of drinks. More than that, it has an historic music venue upstairs where all the contemporary great Oxford bands cut their teeth. They continue to have really good bands on. There are comedy nights too.

Right in the middle of this popular area sits the pub of the same name. Great decor, atmosphere and service. Plenty of seating areas. Good in the summer with outside space and open feel

Fabulous music venue. Small, but great feel. Rare to find this. Downstairs had a buzzing atmosphere and was packed. Good location for pre cinema meet-up or try the upstairs ents.

Visited with family member on a weekday in Jan not a patch on our visit in dec, when it was Xmas busy as this was a lovely visit, we arrived at 12.30 and ordered straight away as only have an hour for lunch , was not made aware that food order was over 35 mins wait, which was a rush to eat it, if been informed we would of just had a drink, my order of the chicken burger was lovely as per the menu , I would recommend this, but the other dish did not , the steak sub came out on a toasted sub and was cold, said served pink and it was so overcooked and tough, and the condiments served was only a bit in the bottles, needed filling up or replacing, I will return in Feb and review again

Beautiful on the outside, spacious and ambient on the inside. Booking and ordering online are both smooth. The chicken tender is a bit too oily and spicy for my taste. Not too loud, which means it is a nice place to chat with friends. Edit 12/01/2024: their Sunday roast is on Too Good To Go! One of the best roast beef I’ve ever had.

Waited ages for our food order.after I asked when will be getting our food was told had a big order just before ours .Should have been told when we arrived that there would be a delay. Ordered steak and chimchurri sub was cooked well done not pink as described . Only had hour for lunch so ate what I could complained to staff but nothing came of it . Never to return even though went there three weeks ago and food was amazing
