The best restaurants serving British food in Carfax Oxford South East

The atmosphere is great. The bartenders and regulars are very friendly and didn't shy away from a random conversation with a tourist. They made us feel very welcome which prompted us to go back the next day. I also enjoyed the food, it was very welcome after a decently long day in Oxford. They didn't have onion rings anymore but compensated with extra ice cream on the pudding.

An historic pub.. now I am worried in case the new owners Firkinise it as in turning it into a monstrous modern gastro pub with large screen tv and other vulgar additions..the pub does not need modernising it is part of Oxford history!!!!!

Great to see the pub thriving after nearly losing it for ever. Good for pints and hanging out.

Good to go for couple of drinks

Shockingly empty at 6pm, but this meant service was super speedy. Unfortunately not a big fan of the Fanta flavour… I fell for the gimmick. Chips have also gotten crunchier I feel which is probably a pro for most people, but I miss when they were very mushy.

Only taking bookings? Would you not advertise this? Disabled in a wheelchair, came up and qued to be turned away even though half the restaurant was empty? Pretty poor from the manager who was obviously the manager and decided to just take bookings and not walk ins, maybe needs a word from above as losing the business money clearly as couple infront were also turned away. Nos dieron té de la tarde en el Randolph como regalo de algunos amigos, así que en realidad no pagamos por esto, pero me hubiera decepcionado si lo hubiéramos hecho. Habíamos pedido sentarnos en el salón, pero nos dijeron que no había otras reservas para el salón y por lo tanto tuvimos que tenerlo en el restaurante Alice, que, aunque lo suficientemente agradable, no era tan atmosférico o bien equipado. (Había mucha gente en el Salón también, así que el argumento de que "no tendría atmósfera" era ligeramente extraño. ) El servicio era lento, y por £ 79 , yo habría esperado un poco más pizzazz que cuatro sándwiches pequeños cada uno (ninguno de los cuales incluía carne asada y rábano picante) , un par de bollos y algunos pasteles pequeños. Los bollos estaban muy buenos, y se sirvieron calientes con crema coagulada encantadora y mermelada agradable. Cuatro de las variedades de té no estaban disponibles, incluyendo Darjeeling y Assam. Hemos tenido experiencias previas de té de la tarde en otros hoteles de 5 * donde nos han servido con excelentes entremeses, un servicio atento con sándwiches adicionales y recargas de té, y cajas para pasteles ofrecidos automáticamente, por lo que el Randolph parecía muy pobre en comparación.
