Went to a comedy night. ( mates rates) was a good cheap night out

This pub never fails to amaze me. Service is excellent, I ordered a double Monkey 47 and Mediterranean Tonic on the app and within 2 minutes it was at my table upstairs. The food, wow! Looked and tasted brilliant. Will be back very very soon.

Love This pub. has a Brilliant atmosphere for the rugby and the service was fast and with a smile. Good range of beers and friendly staff. Will return soon

A place not to be missed in Oxford! The staff couldn't do more for us and it was great to see lots of TVs around the site showing all the major sports events. Delicious food and drink in a super lively and welcoming venue! Thank you so much!

Visited earlier. The place was freezing! £6.50 for a pint of lager. Won't be going back. I'd want at least the heating on.

Food is good however best thing about the place is the staff flexibility and positive attitude in accommodating guests with toddlers, great job 👏

The pub was nice and we sat at a table that was reserved for 18.30. This was about 17.30. We got removed from the table at 18.00 because they have a policy of giving 30 mins flexibility. I was annoyed that the reserved sign on the table did not say it was reserved for 18.00. The whole point is to communicate the booking to other customers isn’t it? So make it clear. Pub was nice plenty of people eating. Ladies toilets were disgusting. 4 cubicles only 2 with locks and one of those was blocked. I dread to think what the levels of hygiene are like in the kitchen if the toilets are in that state.

This venue has certainly deteriorated in the last few months! Two of us had Abott Ale, only to have to take it back to the bar as it tasted off-we were subsequently told that others had complained the previous day, and it had been anticipated the the barrel had been changed then-obviously not! Two of us had steak pies, one of which was only half edible, all of us had cold plates, peas, and one, cold mash. On complaining, we were told that others had complained about the pies the previous day!! Theres a complacent pattern here of course. Needless to say, we will not be returning for some considerable time!

Really poor food, terrible smell, bang average service. I got the Trio of Fries. Mine came after 40mins while my mates waited 60mins for their nachos. I offered my terrible fries to my friends and they said, I’m starving but I’m not that hungry. A complete rip off, would actively avoid. Edit: they provided a refund which I appreciate

I went there with some friends and there was a minor issue with a drink that got resolved fairly quickly. however the server that gave us our food gave the wrong meal to the wrong person. I ordered a vegetarian meal and my friend took a meat option and he gave the wrong one to each of us. He also had an attitude when giving it to us that just made us feel like he wished he didn’t serve us. Thankfully my friend who eats meat had the first taste and noticed so the damage was avoided but it was definitely not something I’d expect to see in a pub that seems so high quality in terms of service and food. The bartenders were very nice and patient though!

The Wig & Pen never fails. Went out with friends for a afternoon drinks and a bit of a pub crawl and ended up staying there till close. Brought some drinks and got a seat downstairs. Decided to all eat there too and we are glad we did. The good was amazing, all of us leaving empty plates. We carried on drinking and built a great relationship up with the staff, who were brilliant, friendly and very helpful. They were very busy, but nothing was too much trouble and still had time to laugh and joke with you. We finished the night dancing away till close and all leaving having a very enjoyable day and night. Thanks team Wig & Pen. We have already planned our next night out there in a couple of weeks.

Awesome pub, many beers to choose from.

Very poor service waited half an hr for a beer that i ordered on the app and went up to the bar to ask for it but they charged me then as got back to table they bought the origional beer over. As for the food i got the turkey croquttes which was a misurable 2 tiny ones that didnt taste great and the flat iron steak was the worst steak i ever had it was dry and they told me it had been frozen.. i like the pub and though its christmas and was busy still the food was bad. Not likely to go back.

Nice decor and friendly service. Right in centre of Oxford so great for shopping and tourism. Reasonable prices. Good beer selection . Very spacious/ upstairs seating as well and good for watching sports.

Went for a comedy upstairs but had a dinner before at wig and pen! The pie was nice and overall good selection of drinks and nice atmosphere. Having coat hangers or some more space upstairs to sit will be better. The top floor where the fomedy was held was very cold so having some kore heating there will be better!

Very good value for money. Steak and Ale Pie is a classe. Meat very tender, mashed potatoes creamy, dark sauce and absolute heaven.

I liked it and I also tried Hazy Day beer for the first time. I loved it 💕 😍 thank you very much 😘

Not great! Waited forever for our food, my burger (festive) came without the 2 onion rings advertised. The burger itself was quite dry. The starters were great but didn’t feed me. Understaffed potentially as waited a long time to be served. Overall a very disappointing experience. I won’t be coming back. Used to go there when it was Coppa. That was great!

I userly come here on an evening by myself as its such a lovely pub with a real cozy atmosphere, love this place with a passion. I recently went there not long ago and found that one staff member stood out to me, she made sure I was OK as I always come here on my own and this time I was feeling abit low, me and her had a great chat and made my evening. Her name was Caitlin, she had great product knowledge, was a great laugh and because of her, I will be coming here more often. The staff are really lovely and go above and beyond.

Really nice atmosphere and plenty free seating but the food was the worst we've had in a Greene King chain. Fish batter looked like it had been done hours ago and the Christmas style dinner, the stuffing was a rock hard slab, the veg were all looking like it had been cooked first thing in the morning and just left under a heat lamp. Definitely not worth the price paid for the meal.

Every time I come to Oxford me and my family always come to this pub the last time we came I asked for a burger and couldn’t eat it because the meat was too hard to eat. Today we came again for a few drinks, when the drinks came to our table one of the glass with wine was full of lipstick stains. When I asked the staff if they could change the glass before we even drink any of it, the staff with headphones on his neck just looked at me like I was asking something from another world and as if we were stupid. I understand that these things can happen, but when me and my family are apologising for something that is out of our control and not our fault, when he comes back with the same glass and I can clearly see that he just wiped it, let me add…barely wiped it off, it’s wrong, very wrong. It’s disrespectful and disgusting. And just a tip for the workers when you see this, headphone usage is used on your break. Not whilst your working ours. Get paid to work, not to slack and chill.

Actually a great pub, but unfortunately it turned into a disco on Saturday at 9 p.m. Music was good, but way (!) too loud, we fled...

We wait 45 min for the food, couldn't order online then it was ordinary food... For sure not going back!

Food is great! Beer is great Caitlin (i think thats her name had orange hair) reccomended some great. Callum pointed me in the direction of the Beer and Burger Menu and i have the say the Katsu burger is brilliant great value for whats on offer. All round great pub and good vibes would reccomend - so close to the Theatre cant go wrong.

Stopped by on a Monday afternoon after checking the menu out as we passed. Both me and my friend wanted just a sandwich and a quick drink so we could continue with our day. Inside was pretty quiet. We picked a table by the window which we realised was in need of a wipe over. My friend got a cloth from the barman which was dry so not much use but it helped. Scanned the QR code added a steak sandwich and the cheese toastie, my friend’s drink and then I went for a gin that the app advised me to try. Went to check out both sandwiches and the gin the app advised me to try were out of stock. At this point we just walked out.

Right opposite the Oxford New Theater, we needed abreak from all the hustle & bustle of St Giles Fair.Plenty of seating available in this old central pub. We ate a pie & a burger which were served very quickly & tasted great. Noticed that the cusomers ages were mostly an older generation, but a pleasant atmosphere & good food.

Nice enough typical chain pub and staff but my food was awful. Obviously microwaved, fair enough but it was horrible. Steak in steak and ale pie was nasty and gristly. Pastry thick and hard. Reheated dollop of mash was dry and heavy. Only veg was some rather large hard peas. Like a bad school dinner from the olden days. Very disappointing. Left most of it
