Very quiet for a Friday night. The barman was pleasant enough. It’s just all a bit dull for me. You can’t really see the cartoons as the room is not particularly well lit. The cocktails were fine. We walked through the hotel to the other bar which was slightly better but at £9 for a glass of not cold enough Pinot Grigio in another badly lit room, we left feeling rather conned after they added a service charge as well. . For a large hotel the wine selection by glass is very limited.

We just popped in for a classy cocktail before deciding where to go for dinner and the bar man provided the most excellent service! He recommended a lovely French restaurant around the corner and even made a booking for us. The cocktails were also fabulous and we ordered two each. Would recommend to anyone out for a fancy night in oxford

I dropped by for a drink, having previously been in the Morse bar on the other side of the hotel. They are very different bars. The cartoon bar is a drinks only bar (I moved to the Morse bar to eat later). Zac the bartender really knew his stuff. They have a special, if pricy, menu of supreme cocktails, but worth every penny. I had the "smoking gun" a tribute to Winston Churchill, which involved smoking Assam tea in the bar, a great spectacle and profoundly wonderful taste. This is a decent bar, with drinks that people who appreciate a good cocktail will understand, they also have a fair gin selection which is good if you want to do the whole gin tasting thing.

We arrived in mid afternoon, very hungry after battling round the M25. The staff could not have been more pleasant, helping us to relax with some nice glasses of wine and very tasty sandwiches. We enjoyed it so much we were back the next evening and had a very pleasant couple of hours relaxing. For a small bar it is surprisingly intimate, very comfortable seating and well staffed.

I would highly recommend this bar! Great staff and a good Menu. The Vibe was "Spot-on" Being attached to one of the best hotels in Oxford makes it extra special.

Good bar. We were the only people in there, which caused a bit of a rush for them. Not the Morse bar that we were expecting. Free nibbles with our beers.

My husband and I were a little early for our table and the Morse Bar was full, so we were directed through to the Cartoon Bar. Very friendly and professional barman, who served us promptly. Slightly dearer than the Morse Bar, but worth a visit.

Turned up to the bar for the first time on the 28th Oct. Ignored by the staff on arrival when at the bar. Not realising it was table service when we arrived. They failed to mention this!!! Went and sat down. Checked the G&T selection. No prices for the tonic on the menu. Realised when paid for the drinks, that 3 tonics cost around £8. Rip off!!! Went To pay at the bar, again ignored. Left to wait for around 5 minutes whilst it took the Two bar staff that were there to make two drinks for One customer. Awful service throughout. £32 for Three G&T’s. Won’t be rushing back for sure.

Aside from the old historical pubs of Oxford, the Cartoon Bar is quite charming. It's historical 19th century cartoons and modern decor set it apart from the others. This classic cocktail bar makes the best cocktails in town. Our bar tender, Clinton, was very knowledgable of the wide assortment of liquors and educated us on the pairings that went best with each liquor. He definitely knows how to make an incredible drink! Clinton was so polite and was very accommodating to our entire experience at the Cartoon bar. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting the area. Ask for Clinton!

The cartoon bar is a stylish bar located in the Randolph hotel. The barman that served was friendly and professional. However I had to ask for music to be put on as it was silent on my visit. The cocktail I requested was well made and looked the part. The taste though certainly didn't match the description. I feel a lot more could be done here given its five star location.

This was our second visit. Our first visit was in November, in November the drinks menu was extensive and our drinks were made with care and served at the table. Our visit on the evening of the 20th May could not have been more different. No one behind the bar on arrival, behind the bar area you could see the dishwasher was open and tools for cocktail making were everywhere. After approx 10 mins a gentleman did appear behind the bar. Table service clearly no longer an option my husband ordered the drinks at the bar. The drinks were made and quite frankly I mix better Gin and tonics at home! Final bill of £32 for two doubles is extortion. Given the mess the barman was working in, the Cartoon bar has clearly lost all sense of pride and purpose.

Visited this evening with friends . Very quiet with only 2 other people in the bar . The bar man immediately told us that the bar was closing at 1030 which was a shame . Drinks were expensive with gin at £7 a single shot. The hotel still need to sort out the ac , as mentioned previously by other travellers , the corner we were in was freezing !

We did not eat here but did stay at The Randolph. Cocktails were very good but not cheap. If you wanted a drink not on the menu that wasn't a problem. This was our first time in Oxford and we were very disappointed with the lack of anything but chain bars so we were lucky this one was on our doorstep.

Spent a great relaxing afternoon in the Cartoon Bar, at Randolph Hotel Oxford Lots of speciality cocktails all made with extra care & attention by the lovely Clinton. The bar itself is really interesting looking with great decor , small enough to feel exclusive & definitely not run of the mill. Our first visit to Oxford but we will definitely be back to this place. We immediately felt at home & were made to feel welcome by the extremely friendly & knowledgeable barman. He tailored some cocktails especially for us & recommended some of the food to go with it.Rather than the usual 'hotel bar' this was different in a luxurious way - Try it , you will be pleasantly surprised , we were

We spotted this bar when we were heading to George Street for pre movie drinks. We had been wondering where to go as there is a dearth of charming or interesting bars in Oxford. We spotted The Cartoon Bar out of the corner of our eye going down Magdalen Street and decided to check it out. It looked immediately appealing and it looked positive. It wasn't full but there was a large table of girls by the main window and some side tables all full and a couple of sofas at the back. We settled in and immediately noticed the blast of AC pouring down on us and we noticed that the sofa was rock hard.We sat waiting to be served but the barman was extremely pre occupied making drinks for the table of girls. It took him ages and he barely looked up. My friend asked if we could be served and he just nodded. I was just thinking " why doesn't he get help" when he scurried away and returned with help so our drinks were soon ordered. Neither of the bar tenders understood the fact that the bar is like a theatre and their obligation to perform for the watching punters. I think this bar has potential because Oxford desperately needs this however the hotel needs to take it seriously. It needs to do something about the comfort of the sofas, do something about the lighting, pay attention to room temperature and ambience and also hire some bar tenders with a bit of life in them and they'll be on to a winner. It fell way short for us last night however I can see that this could be a fun place to go way from the horror of the George Street offering. Randolph pay attention to the potential and so something with it.
