We dropped into this pub after looking at rooms for my daughter who is moving to Oxford for a job. Service was excellent, we were welcomed with our dog, food was wonderful and prices were very reasonable £70 for 3 meals, 2 starters and drinks. The place wasn't busy, but that suited us, hence the low atmosphere score. Will be going back again for sure.

This pub has underground a huge renovation in recent years, functions under new management and provides a beautiful setting for a traditional oxford pub located in Iffley village. The menu, food quality and choice deserves a chefs kiss! We particularly enjoyed the Sunday roast with all the trimmings, which was evidently cooked with fresh ingredients, care and love. There is adequate on site parking, a beautiful courtyard area to the rear of the property that's joined by the additional outdoor sheltered area leading to front garden. We were treated to service by Sage and Maggie who were so friendly and welcoming. Nothing was too much bother and they aimed to please with an outstanding level of professionalism! We look forward to visiting again soon 😀

The Prince of Wales is a Wadworth's pub set in a leafy Thames-side village that lies within the city of Oxford. Internally it has been quite heavily modernised, hence lacks a bit of character. On the bar you will find the complete range of Wadworth's ales. including the excellent Horizon Bitter. The menu isn't huge but varies, so you may find something different each visit, and included some good quality, interesting dishes such as Pan Roasted Cod with Chorizo Risotto or Pork Chop with Caramelised Apple. There is usually a pie on the menu as well. Prices are quite reasonable for Oxford, given the quality of the food. There is some bench seating, to the front of the pub and along the side.

Too embarrassed to ask for a refund. Took a punt dropping in here with my partner post river walk - the pint wasn’t half bad however the food was indescribable. The sourdough was in fact, Aldi special, white bread with a slab school dinner butter to slop over it to hide the abysmal quality. Piece of salmon as big as a toe lying on a bed of wet samphire (not sure if it was grass) was beyond disappointing and the sweetcorn fritter was effectively a deep fried raw dough ball. Awful. Arguably some of the worst food that we have ever had.

After is lovely (and much needed) refurb we have eaten at the POW twice in recent weeks - once at the weekend and once mid week. Both times were superb. Mid week I had the ox cheek which, as many say, was fab. My husband had the pie which is Matts speciality dish I believe and understandably so as it was great too. The Sunday roast (beef and pork) was delicious too and everything was perfectly cooked (rare beef - yum). A small observation - if you would prefer not to have the gravy pre poured on your beef as I would have, stipulate that. They did provide extra in a little jug but I would have preferred to make the choice myself. The staff are lovely - efficient and smiley. Very good value too. Thoroughly recommend a visit!

When I realised the PoW had new tenants I was keen to return and I’m glad I did. There was a friendly welcome and the new decor is all lovely. It all feels very new so there are probably little things that still need sorting (like giving a jug of water for the table rather than individual glasses) or a little bit of table decoration like candles etc but the important things are all in place - good, friendly service and great food. The menu is excellent with a good range of meat, fish and plant - based options that are delicious enough to tempt meat eaters away. I had an arancini/parsnip purée starter and it was so delicious I could have had it again for a main course - but instead I had charred cauliflower with curried lentils - fab! I don’t remember what the wine selection was like because basically I had what my friend did but it was very nice! The bill was very reasonable. I’ve already booked to go back.

The strongest recommendation that I could ever offer! I booked two weeks ago to reserve a table for six, unfortunately one of us couldn't make the reservation and I can tell you that they definitely missed out on the best Sunday lunch going! I've spent more on Sunday lunch in the past but this is hands down the best Sunday roast I've had in recent memory! Brilliant value! Roast potatoes are often either crispy and bland or they're soggy and over-seasonsed, the potatoes on my plate tonight were a perfect level of crisp and the caliber of seasoning was second to none! I ordered the chicken which came with a brilliant array of vegetables and cauliflower cheese which was to die for! You can tell that their chef gives a lot of thought and care into their food. Even though I'm not a fan of gravy, the flavours complemented the dish meaning that I could forget I was consuming something I wouldn't normally eat! The front of house staff and their service was impeccable. They made us feel welcome and their attention to detail certainly didn't go unnoticed! I hope I can visit this pub again soon and try their standard menu in the middle of the week! A local gem I would highly recommend if you ever have the privilege of eating there!

Nothing rushed but service was good.I can recommend the Lamb and Sticky Toffee pudding , my husband the steak burger and cheese cake. Nice atmosphere and reasonably priced. The ‘parking’ was not as identified on my google map but behind the M&S food hall. Apart from that hiccup a really nice evening out. The waiting staff were amazing! Well done
