I usually use the Khao Sarn restaurant in Walton-on-Thames for takeaway Thai food, but ordered from the Thai Courtyard in East Molesey as Khao Sarn was closed this evening. The food consisted of a spicy beef panang and sticky rice. Or at least that’s what I ordered. There was a layer of oil on top of the beef curry that was literally around 1cm thick. The sticky rice was undercooked to the point that it was crunchy. I called the restaurant to point out the state of the food, at which point the first member of staff told me, ‘I can assure you that the rice was microwaved correctly’. After a brief dialogue where I was basically accused of lying about the state of the food, I offered to send a photograph of the curry to show how bad it was. I duly sent a photograph of how bad the food was, and heard nothing back. I then called the restaurant again, before I was asked to explain why the food was unsatisfactory again to several other members of staff, before finally speaking to a woman who purported to be the manager. The manager was rude and disinterested , making clear that she wasn’t interested in the quality of the food she had served. My advice would be to avoid Thai Courtyard and use Khao Sarn in Walton.

A very decent Sunday lunch. My wife had the roast lamb, while I had the mixed roast. I could have done with a little more meat and a bit less apple sauce, but the meat was cooked very nicely and the beef and lamb had the right level of pinkness. Highlights for me were the Yorkshire pudding and the red cabbage. Also liked the fact that, as I'm allergic to red wine, the waiter/owner/chef swapped the standard gravy for a vegan gravy which apparently was red-wine-free. We'd planned to have a pudding but decided against it as when the England v Italy match came on to the TV, the volume was pumped up to 100 (seriously) on the screen just by our table. We fully understood why, but the volume made it impossible to chat so we headed off. A good place for a Sunday lunch though.

Super quick service and yummy cafe food and coffees. Dog friendly which is a bonus. The waitress knew all of the dogs name of the people that come in regularly which I thought was lovely. They also have some fresh product available to buy. Recommend the halloumi, roasted veg and pesto ciabatta!

This was a regular place for us when we lived in the town. Two years after leaving we were back on a visit and popped in for breakfast. Staff were great along with the food. Outside was a bit hit and miss due to close tables, smoking and vaping. Fortunately they are dog friendly inside also. Not much to cheer about in Walton nowadays but if your there give this place a visit.

Absolutely fantastic cafe and my new "must go to" for the almond croissant and superb staff. Some cafes just make you feel welcome and it was so uplifting . We'd just walked through Bushy and thought we'd stroll over the bridge and get a coffee. We've both got issues with saliva glands so the almond paste or custard on the croissant was the best I've ever had in London. I was over in Victoria park the next day and sorry kids but you need to learn from Dish. Whatever their secret is it worked for us. We walked back over to Fulwell with a spring in our step. The sun was shining and the only regret was we hadn't carried more change to tip the staff. We paid by card when we ordered at the counter and it was only £12. I am useless at tipping when I order unless it's a bar and you can buy the staff a drink. I scratched around and found £2.50 but the service was so good and the price so low I'd have happily left the change off a £20. It really was that good and I'll make a point of catching a Hampton court train next time and walking to Fulwell after a stop here next time I come down. Thanks for lifting us up and making us so welcome.

My partner & I dropped into this tiny, quaint cafe not knowing what to expect. We certainly were pleasantly surprised by choices on the menu. We opted for the standard Full English Breakfast and were impressed. The owner who is from Albania was so friendly and charming and we definitely recommend this cafe if you are looking for something to start your day.
