Very tasty chicken burger and chips!

Nicely rebranded pub, but the beer is pretty expensive, although it is nice beer.

Ordered food at 4.29,, got food at 5.46,, supposed to be lamb Sunday roast?? Lamb was a mushed up concoction of a spreadable paste,, The lovely waitress said sorry and there would be no bill,, but I insisted and gave my card,, in which the stroppy geezer took £51 off it??? JUST SAYING??

A great pub, with a selection of beers ( some breweries I have never heard of) all good, and an excellent menu. Fast friendly service, not crowded lunchtime, recommended!

Really sweet and lively place — I hadn’t been to this pub before the Big Smoke acquired it, but now it seems to have transformed into such a great spot! The food is always good, the staff are super friendly, it’s busy pretty much every night of the week, and it has a lovely beer garden. The Sunday roast was one of the best one I’ve had in a while, and their small plates are also great and worth trying.

Having last been to this pub over 10 years ago it is now atmospheric, with a great selection of keg and cask craft beers. Can get very busy at weekends I'm told.

Had some lovely drinks in the pub A few nights ago and we had a great time. It was their first Friday after the refurb and me and my dad had a few drinks enjoying the atmosphere. The staff and management were amazing the food smelt and looked delicious and the drinks were great! Very much looking forward to some more visits to the Poyntz to try their food and experience the entertainment. Good luck and thank you to all the team.

Edit: went back in yesterday for a coke, killing time whilst child at a club, and the place for late afternoon Monday was buzzing. Used to be flat on a Monday at that time in the past so adjusting review! Just reopend and like everyone in the area super excited. We love The Big Smoke pub in Surbiton. Went on Friday night and sat outside with a drink and it was lovely. Staff were friendly etc. We were looking forward to our late lunch booking the following day but ended up leaving before we ate. It was a combination of red flags, no table reserved for us, trying to seat us at a clearly far too small table for four people to eat (you'd barely fit two plates), and after a nice family who had just finished overheard the issues offering us their table no one cleaning the table or bringing menus or telling us where to get menus and order. I felt it was a sign of a stressful meal ahead.

We went for a food but kitchen wasn't open well not really surprised to be fair as the pub itself hardly open anyway waste of time it was literally empty only the staff with huge attitude honestly saying it's going downhill year by year ....

Went for a Sunday lunch and wasn't disappointed. Beautiful, slow cooked pork and roast beef. Lovely and fresh and as good as home cooked. We would highly recommend, portion sized were great and great value for money. We can't understand why this pub isnt more busy....we will definitely be returning for more.

Sorry to see this place get worse and worse. Poor staff, terrible atmosphere, horse racing on tv. It’s really sad

No problem with the beer or the atmosphere, but this was literally the worst bar food I have ever had. Go for the booze but do not order any food. You will be wasting your money.

Brilliant Sunday Roast….Molesey’s best kept secret! These roasts are all delicious (lamb, pork, beef). Huge portions, succulent veg and loads of fantastic quality meat. Totally delicious! The chef even personally came to our table to talk through our allergies and tailored a meal to accommodate gluten and dairy intolerances. Highly recommended!

A band called glide was on and it was horrible loud and not good. It's under new management and very nice decor and pleasant staff.

Had fantastic 50th party at Poyntz last night which Tony & Kevin arranged for me. Nothing was too much trouble from organising DJ (Charlie was fantastic, he played everything from my playlist & more brilliant tunes) to decorations & heating up food! I highly recommend Poyntz for party or just night out, all staff were brilliant, great atmosphere & service. Sunday roasts are also highly recommend!

So we at last got to try the much hyped Sunday roast. And yes it's a generous nourishing freshly cooked traditional English roast. I really like this pub and want to come to the music nights next. See you again soon. Highly recommended for the Sunday fayre and not expensive.

Now under new management. Plans to restart food service particularly sunday lunches are welcome. The new bar staff are friendly and the beer is kept well. Worth finding a parking space for!

Refused me to use the loo. I thought it’s going to be a public house. And the place was empty! And I said I’m a cab driver, he said especially not cab drivers. Such a miserable man. I hope you get good as he gives. I’m nearly reporting this because his attitude is likely to extend to customers to make them feel just as unwelcome. You have been warned!

Waited two hours for food which didn't come. No apology, no remorse, no sense of customer service.

I have been there with my friend for a Hungarian Night. I had 3course traditional Hungarian food which was perfect and the staff were very friendly. Great value for the money.

Very limited beer.. 2nd pint had bits floating in it. Flood service very very slow and most starters had run out. Mains, Sunday lunch comprised of chicken, pork or beef and weirdly all the cuts were the same size and shape! Clearly not calved and simply from a packet.. have given the points chance after chance after chance.. never again until they get there stock levels right re drinks and food!

Went out for the first time in a year and booked a table with a group of friends. Lovely atmosphere and friendly, helpful staff, enjoyed the evening.

Excellent service and a good range of draft beers. Top points go to the table service (Covid compulsory) this evening. They ran out of Beavertown Neck Oil on our third round so when the barman brought everyone’s drinks over, he brought me a flight of three similar draft beers to try and decide if I wanted one of those instead. Very friendly and welcoming. 10/10

I would like to start this review by showering Leon and Mikey with praise. What a fantastic duo you have in your establishment. Whatever you are paying them, make it double. They made us feel so important from start to finish and their knowledge (particularly Mikey) on the products you provide is first class.I would also like to say that the outdoor area with the fairy lights is a great touch and really gave a lovely vibe to our evening. I hope to see further improvements to this pub as it's in a fantastic location with great potential.

One of the first pints I've had at a pub since lockdown 3 ended. A stone's throw from my flat and a very nice atmosphere - the courtyard was lovely; reasonable price pints and the server was super polite and nice. Will for sure be back, need to try the food now!

Our first time eating out as a family since before lockdown. We had chicken, lamb and beef roasts - all of them were delicious. We have eaten here quite a few times, the food is always great and the staff are friendly.

Loved it. Met new people and the ale was delicious, music good too. Live music first Saturday of every month

Food could have been a lot hotter so spoilt meal for me.

We have been in the pub mamy times but never to eat so thought it would be nice to try out their Sunday lunch menu. The place was fairly busy as they were planning to show the England v Ireland rugby so we had lunch at 1.30pmThe service was good and the menu was plentiful. We decided to share the olives and beetroot humuus with soda bread. It was a good choice as it was superb but more than enough for two people. The menu offers chicken, beef or pork together with fish and vegan options. I had the roast pork and my partner had the beef. Both meals were substantial and delicious. There is an extensive wine list ranging from around £18 to £80 so catering for all palates. Unfortunately we were too full to try the desserts but will definitely return soon and hopefully leave some room to sample them.

Excellent freshly cooked food, with plentiful portions! We have eaten at the Poyntz a few years ago and had poor food and was put off. Since then the pub has changed hands. We’ve been in for drinks on a number of occasions and the bar staff are always so friendly! On a recommendation we decided to go for food. I’m so glad we did. I had a pie ( I asked for extra gravy) and my husband had the chicken burger. Wow! I enjoyed it immensely, as did husband. I would go so far to say it is the best pub food in molesey! Will definitely go back!

We arrived late on Saturday afternoon and asked if they were still serving food, to our delight they said yes. It was fairly quite, and we were the only people in the dinning area. The person who served us was really friendly and gave us menus and took our drinks order. Came back with the drinks and we ordered. I had the wild boar sausage and mash, and I have to say it was absolutely delicious, the red wine sauce was really tasty and I could have eaten it again, in fact all the food was great, we a couple of people had burgers and also the fish. We had a great afternoon and I can't wait to return, my son has just moved into the area, so looks like we will be eating here quite a lot. I hope it's the same tasty food on my next visit. Highly recommended

Our 2nd visit! This place has the best Sunday lunch! 2 x had roast chicken: 1 x roast lamb all with FIVE veg plus Yorkshire puds, delicious gravy. Followed by sticky toffee pud and fruit crumble. Couldn’t fault it! Excellent service. Will return

Excellent food. My husband had Christmas turkey - and Christmas pudding for dessert. Our friend and I had roast beef with huge Yorkshire puds! All very well cooked. Plentiful and varied vegetables, delicious gravy. Apple crumble fresh and generously portioned. Staff efficient and helpful though service delayed before dessert.When it came to doing the tip, the machine wouldn’t take it and were forced to pay with cash - then were given the wrong change! One point management might wish to improve - is heating. On entering restaurant it was cool for a cold Sunday winter lunchtime. A restaurant needs to be warm and welcoming. We had to ask for the back door to be closed (needs to be on an automatic closure) as we sat in a cold draught most of our lunch time. Also the door through which waiters bring food from kitchen into restaurant needs to be a two-way swing door as is in restaurants. It was held permanently open so the cold lobby air kept funnelling into the restaurant.We shall certainly return. It’s a great asset to Walton Road

We visited The Poyntz Arms for an evening meal on 6 November and again the following Sunday for Sunday Lunch. One word comes to mind, superb.The food is prepared in their own kitchen (unlike so many chain pubs,) and is of the highest quality, with an interesting menu, prepared from high quality suppliers.We would highly recommend this establishment for fine food at a reasonable price, an excellent welcome, superb service, and an all round stunning experience.

Booked for Sunday lunch with the family and were told that it may be busy because of the rugby but that suited us as fans. Service was good and the food excellent... Tender roast beef and crispy potatoes. There was plenty of food and a relaxed atmosphere Definitely recommend this place

I’ve just visited this pub today with my family and some friends for Sunday lunch and it was fabulous. From the look of the outside I didn’t think it would be much but when we got inside it had a lovely gastropub feel (without trying too hard), great relaxed atmosphere, very helpful and friendly staff and the food went above and beyond our expectations. We all had roasts which were really high quality - perfectly cooked meat, fresh selection of veg, homemade Yorkshire puddings, delicious gravy. I had roast pork and they had cooked the crackling perfectly which I think is rare in restaurants. My wife said the beef was delicious. They also had a good selection of board games so the kids were entertained which meant we had a really chilled afternoon. I’m looking forward to going back on another day to try the rest of their menu!

We have visited the Poyntz quite a few times since it was refurbished and it is far better atmosphere than it was previously. Really friendly staff make it a pleasant experience but we had never eaten here until yesterday. We booked a table to watch the rugby and we were pleasantly surprised with how good the food actually is. I had a full English and my wife had the avocado on toast, both superb and probably the best full English I have had. We've booked a table for next Saturday to watch England v France and looking forward to my breakfast already. The rugby was shown on 3 screens, one of those projected onto a huge screen so watching the match was great. Keep up the good work and see you on Saturday

Visited here on a Sunday early evening after visiting a chinese restaurant.we last visited about 4 years ago and we loved the new look!very cosy and relaxing new look you could easily spend a relaxing Sunday afternoon here.The barman was very friendly and helpful on selecting lager I will definitely be booking here in the future for a Sunday roast as the menu looked great!

Haven’t been here since the makeover. Heard mixed things. However, we thought we’d give it the ‘Sunday roast’ test. Passed with flying colours. Quality good. Quantity good and very generous. Lovely beef. Not chewy. Half a chicken for the other half. Veg/ potato’s/ Yorkshire all very nice. Staff attentive but not nuisance levels. Lovely decor. Will be going again and will recommend to friends.

I have to say: a big positive surprise! I came to local pub on Wednesday evening by accident. It was empty, but very friendly waiter offered me a drink and recommended food. Very sceptical, as been in this business for decade, I started to look at their menu. I ordered a simple beef burger. In an empty pub I had to wait for a while- good sign. And when it came it was not disappointing at all. Well done Poyntz Arms! Delicious and highly recommended!

Went for Sunday lunch a few weeks ago and will definitely go again. It's now our favourite pub in walking distance too! Super helpful staff and the food was delicious. Very good portions and the children's food on offer was really decent. Plus the drinks and cocktail menu was fab - Pimms in bowl shaped glass with all the trimmings was hugely appreciated. Will continue to go and support this local gem.

Four of us for Sunday lunch, lovely food great wine and amazing staff so helpful and looked after us so well. The venue was well looked after a real treat and looking forward to the next visit.

This place has a lovely menu and everything we had was excellent. The food is fresh, tasty and well presented. Service is good but .... it was over an hour until our main course came. It’s really the only thing that detracts from the lovely food.

We had a delicious meal with wonderful service. It was quiet (Wednesday evening) and perhaps people (like us previously) don't realise that it has changed hands and is now a fantastic place for a meal and drinks.

Delicious food and charming service. Type of place I have avoided for years but it’s lovely now since the refurbishment and new ownership. Highly recommend. Fab to have this as a local.

In over 40 yes I haven't been back to visit the poyntz . Knowing it had been very updated over the past few years my friend suggest we went there as we didn't have the children and was somewhere nicer and local. Although children are welcome. It's a bit more expensive than we usually spend but this was a treat although probably average for a good meal. We chose the roast dinner and actually had the children's size as the meals were coming out rather large . It was so fresh , meat and vegetables delicious and a large Yorkshire and the most gorgeous gravy I wanted to lick the plate...lol..
