This a small unpretentious old fashioned Pub on the outskirts of Thames Ditton. It has several different what we would have called small rooms where you can eat . We chose the area to the left of the bar for our lunch. You order and pay at the bar and then the meals are delivered to your table. There is quite a varied menu ranging for jacket potatoes, salads. a choice of burgers, smaller meals and the main menu. We chose the Angel Fish Fie and Chicken breast both of which were nicely presented, hot and very tasty. The staff were attentive and always available, without pushing or being in your face. It was midweek when we dined here and thankfully there were no young children , which we dislike when we are eating out, so the atmosphere was peaceful and quiet. reasonable choice of Cask ales and wines This to us was a hidden fund that we had not been to previously

We have been going to The Angel Inn for a midweek lunch four or five times a year since the end of the Pandemic. We last wrote a review of this establishment in early in 2022, so felt it was time to write another one. It is a small village pub with a nice character and some interstering exibits . It has a laid back atmosphere and no music blasting out. It tends to attract when we dine here, a more mature age group rather than families. We have constantly found the staff to be attentive and helpful. Mike and Molly have always been friendly especially when booking a table in advance. The food continues to be a high standard and reasonably priced. We sometimes choose dishes from the £8 smaller meals menu with the pie of the day usually being excellent. Also occasionally we splash out on a meal from the main menu, with the fish pie being one of our favourite dishes. We tend to park around Giggshill Green as we find the car park very awkward to manager when the pub has a number of customers. We will continue eating here

This is a quaint traditional pub perched on one corner of Giggshill.Green in Thames Ditton. We visited for a lighter lunch and went for the Smaller meal option at £8 each When the meals arrived it was more than an ample helping for us all. There is a limited choice for the Smaller meal but it included Scampi , Pie of the Day , Chicken Goujons and Omelettes all with chips and Ham Egg and chips. All were great and represented excellent value for money. There is also an extensive menu for anyone wanting bigger meals. The service was friendly and spot on it had a nice laid back atmosphere .There is some outside seating both at the front and back and also a rather cramped free car park. Definitely worth considering and recommended if visiting the area

First of two visits, with a couple of friends - for dinner, whilst, the International Football was televised, in the evening. Pie of the Day and Omelette, were both enjoyed, whilst I had two of the Small Dishes - Scampi and Chips, plus Fish Goujons and Chips, as they are both so well priced. Food was very tasty. Second evening - drinks only. Service and staff all very affable and fastidious.

Went here for lunch a couple of months ago & had a good meal. Returned for Sunday lunch … disappointing. We had 2 roast chickens & a nut roast. Small portions & gravy poured on which made the Yorkshire pudding soggy. Desserts were very processed & served with artificial cream. The worst part… we were accused of not paying our bill?? Think the manager should have checked with the staff instead of confronting us in the restaurant. Will not be returning.

In the area for a few days visiting a friend who lives in Thames Ditton I was offered a late birthday meal out as a treat. Not knowing the area I was offered a meal in several very swanky looking restaurants which all sounded very nice but were not really what I was looking for on this particular Saturday evening. Something more relaxed and friendly would be nice I suggested. Having driven passed The Angel and thinking it looked a likely candidate I suggested it to my friend assuming that as it was within walking distance of her home she and her husband would be quite familiar with it. Unfortunately not, only ever having popped in for a quick one on the return from a walk with the dogs. Undaunted we called and booked a table in case they were very busy it being a Saturday. Very quickly answered the phone answered a couple of questions in a very friendly manner which is a nice change from some. Although they were quite busy when we got there the barmaid acknowledged us immediately and assured us she would be with us as soon as possible which again is always good. Had a drink at the bar and nice conversation with locals and staff before taking our table. The menu was absolutely spot on with a good choice of starters, mains and desserts. So far so good. We ordered a platter for two and both chose the home made steak and kidney pie. Well as they say "Just liked my mother used to make" Only better! We had planned on having a dessert but the starter and main were so generous we really had no room left. A shame as they looked delicious on other peoples tables. The price including drinks was really good value for money (even though I was not paying). I will certainly be making a few more visits here next time I am in the area. Brilliant. Well done to the Landlord/Landlady and the barmaid. We both enjoyed our visit tremendously.

Duck your head on the way in, the older parts of this property have low ceilings! Great traditional pub, Draft beers and great portioned grub, served with a smile. Doggie friendly local that gets busy on the weekend so book to get a table!

I visited as part of a group of about 15 persons, on Sun 17.04.16. Both the main course and dessert were very good - good quality food and reasonably priced. Parking is a bit of an issue, as the pub is on a road with double yellow lines, all the nearby roads have similar parking restrictions as well. There is a small car park at the rear. If the pub car park is full, I suggest that you park in the public library car park in Mercer Close, Thames Ditton, Surrey, KT7 0BS. It is a very pleasant 5 minute walk, from the library alongside the village green to the pub.At peak times, for a group of people, you need to book a table well in advance.

Had a great Sunday roast, food was piping hot and arrived quickly. The staff were polite and they had both a front and rear garden. Good value

Eaten here a few times and the food has always been marvellous and great value for money. Staff were very friendly and were able to give accurate descriptions of dishes on the menu, which I have found is not always the case. Piping hot dishes, served quickly and excellent value for money. All the condiments and cutlery you may need are served in a box so no need to ask for anything. Attentive staff appeared when needed but not OTT like some restaurants. Nearly all dishes only £5-7 which is a bargain. Recommended to all.

One of my favourite pubs in the village. You'll always get a warm welcome from Mollie and Mike. The locals are friendly and so are their dogs. If you like good traditional pubs with great pub grub a roaring fire and plenty of banter this is the pub for you.

I was with a friend to revisit Hinchley Wood. Popped in here for a pub lunch before going around Hinchley Wood. The food and atmosphere was great. A true old English village pub.Having grown up in the area in the 80s I knew the pub with previous landlord. Plan to revisit in near future. A reminder of still what I call home.

Go here once a month on average for work lunch. The odd quizze or comedy night. It's a typical English pub with friendly staff. Simple traditional pub food but home cooked. Bear is expensive, but its London! Steak and Ale pie with chunky chips to die for. Not a "special meal place" but somewhere to go when you don't want to cook and know it's a good decent dinner. Recommended!

I arrived at 1245 after having phoned earlier that day (1000am) to make a reservation for myself, my wife, her parents and 3 children, i was told that 1300pm was fine for us. When i arrived i quickly informed the staff that we had booked for 1300pm. I was swiftly told that there was no room for us now until 1400pm, when i asked why no one had called us to let us know of the change the landlord who was at one end of the bar came steaming over and started telling us that they don't have to do anything and that if we didn't like the change we could "sling (y)our hook". Having a quick conversation with my wife we decided to be calm and stay as we had driven from London for this lunch. I then ordered drinks and the landlord (who seems to style himself on an 'eastend gangster' and applies cowboy rules as to how he sees fit), poured my drink last, a pint of ale and slammed it on the bar so hard there was only 2/3rds of a pint left, when i pointed this out he threatened me and when i refused to pay and said i was leaving the landlady threatened the police for not paying - despite me not receiving my beverage or any of the group having theirs (all were on the bar). There wasn't even a moment of courtesy, just simple aggression and scare tactics from the get go. It is extremely surprising to read the positive comments on here as it was a complete polar opposite for my experience. I will never ever visit the establishment again and i cannot strongly dis-courage others from it.

This is a real pub with all that you would expect including low beams, quirky rooms, outside area and private dining room by garden. The landlord Mike and his team here are efficient, knowledgeable, friendly and welcoming. Beers are super and food is fresh and yummy. The beef bourginon and fish pie we had were delicious. There is parking on site and loads more spaces on adjoining roads.

Having previously visited this pub about a year ago, i was pleasently supprised on my visit yesterday. Firstly the bar staff were friendly and efficient on this visit whereas on my last visit the elderly couple working behind the bar were painfully slow and quit rude. The food is now of much better quality and although we had to wait for a while for it to arrive it was well worth the wait. The Angel offers a standard priced menu and a meal for a fiver option for the smaller appitites. I had the steak and kidney pie which was delicious, our group had several different meals all were good pub food. This pub offers good quality pub food.

Not being a regular of The Angel and just having returned from a stint abroad, I dropped in for a beer. As being short of cash and as a number of other people arrived (as there is now no banks in Thames Ditton), I paid for the round of drinks by Debit card. As I didn’t put my glasses on, I simply typed in my PIN number to the hand held cash machine given to me by the bar staff member, without being able to properly read what the barmaid had entered. So my own stupid fault. Whereas, because of the chance of fraudulent use, we’re all reminded to regularly check our Credit Cards, but as I regard a Debit card payment, (almost), as cash, I didn’t think anything else of the payment for a while. Because of other priorities, I didn’t check my bank statement for a few months, only to find that I had been overcharged, by a substantial amount, for the round of drinks at the Angel. On recognising that I had been charged over £100 for a round of drinks, which, for 4 or 5 people, should have been between £15-£20, I phoned the Angel. On speaking to the assistant manager, he informed me that there had been another occurrence similar to this, but that I would have to speak, directly, to, Mike, the publican(who wasn’t around at that time). Being again back from abroad and local, I said that I would drop by with the receipt, to show the date and the amount. On dropping in to the pub and meeting with the publican, Mike, I got less than a nil response. In fact he doubted what I was saying and said that a round of drinks of over £100 was not unusual in his pub. At around £4 a pint, I would have to have been buying drinks for over 25 people, this I doubt and I certainly wasn’t buying a round of drinks for everyone in the bar at that time, which was probably about 15 people. He informed me that as I hadn’t noticed it immediately and as I had entered my PIN number that at this late juncture, there was no way he could check back. I am sure that the Angel is the same as about every pub, nowadays, and they will reconcile their takings on a daily basis. So if indeed there was not a surplus of let’s say £90, on the date of my purchase, then something else had been happening with the bar staff that the publican is not aware of!So, my advice is, pay cash at this pubMoTD

This is a traditional pub, which is unpretentious, and a rarity in the area. The food is good, unpretentious - the portions are excellent, and the value very good indeed.Staff are very pleasant, and the food - scampi, breaded mushrooms and beef burger with fried egg, bacon and blue cheese were great.

I just love the history of the pub, the staff and the way it's managed is fabulous. The attention to detail is second to none. Everyone is so friendly and accommodating. We're here every night because we feel so welcome!
