I have been to Godfrey's restaurant a great many times over the summer for both breakfast and dinner and I've never been disappointed. The restaurant is located on the lower ground floor of Devonshire Park Hotel and the windows look out into the garden. The atmosphere of the restaurant is relaxed and bright with some lovely pictures of local places on the wall. The staff here are kind and friendly. I never had to wait long for service. They serve a nice selection of wines at the restaurant or they would bring down gin & tonics and other beverages from the bar. The chef here cooks up some of the finest dishes in Eastbourne! I have dined here on several occasions and usually order one of the fish dishes - cod, plaice, sea bass, etc. and all the time they were very tasty and came with new potatoes and fresh veggies. I also tried the curries and a vegetarian stew - both were very good. The desserts were delicious - a particular favourite of mine was the coffee mascarpone mousse. They serve a proper English breakfast here and also have very tasty fruit salads, croissants, and danishes as part of their breakfast buffet. You will never leave here hungry and will always want to return again soon.

Fab breakfast cooked to our liking and served with a cheery smile and well presented. The cheesy toast bacon and egg was spot on. The staff are really nice and friendly. Will defo return.

My partner and I were visiting Eastbourne for the weekend and the best thing about this visit was going to this lovely delightful restaurant . Unlike the usual seafood tourist traps you find littered all over the country where it is adorned with the flashy, generic soulless decor, this place has a familiar 80’s homey down-to-earth feel to it. When we found this place, we decided that we will only spend our money on this place both for the great food, great service, and the quality of experience. We ordered the Grilled Sea Bream which was fresh, opening your tastebuds to a rich sea taste and the Octopus was so flavourful with the right texture and softness that one must order it if you happen to visit this place. We also ordered the sea bait and Grilled Cod which were both equally satisfying. The chef made the dishes right in front of us in his nonchalant way of going about his business. The hostess was genuinely warm and lovely; she is a true gem. She always had a warm smile of a person who is happy to welcome you into their home. Both of them gave character to their restaurant that you rarely see anywhere else. We will definitely come back whenever we happen to visit Eastbourne again.

Do not confuse this cafe with OLD TOWN CAFE which is about 100yds west in Church St. A cafe but with training facilities for disabled adults.

Booked three weeks in advance yet were seated in a far corner although lots of tables by the window spare. Group came in after us and had no booking and were seated in window with view!? Then waited twenty mins for staff to offer drink. Food came out very fast and was good standard. Mini hash browns went down well and the Spanish coffee was delicious. Waited and waited to catch eye of staff for the bill, had three or four different wait staff so had no idea who was meant to ask for it Average experience with this restaurant
