Port and Starboard in Eastbourne

In this restaurant you can get a delicious breakfast for a reasonable price. I can recommend it to everyone who visits Eastbourne.

I have just read a review by someone who said they had the worst breakfast they had ever had. What planet are they on? We have visited the Port & Starboard on numerous occasions. The food is the best anywhere in Eastbourne. Perfectly cooked, beautifully served and the staff should get a medal for friendly and helpful service. Go there and give it a try, you won’t be disappointed.

This was no doubt the worst breakfast either of us has every had. The food was over-priced for what was delivered. Bacon had barely been cooked sausages of a really poor quality. Had to wait about 10 minutes to pay as card machine was not working. Will never be coming back here again.

First class breakfast with everything cooked fresh to order with excellent friendly service : what's not to like about Port & Starboard. Price was excellent and had we been spending more time in Eastbourne we might have become "regulars"

Called in for lunch today. Reasonable price and the food is amazing. The staff was polite and very friendly. Clean and tidy through out

Had breakfast here both mornings of our weekend away in Eastbourne. The staff were friendly and efficient, the food was excellent. Highly recommend this superb local cafe. It’s a must visit at any time of day.

Food is always great here as well as the service! 10/10 staff are really friendly and chatty and in a great location to pop to the beach or town

I ordered a large breakfast of bacon, sausages, egg, mushrooms,baked beans, fried potatoes and toast £1.50 extra for black pudding the breakfast is expensive £9.50 then extra for black pudding and hash browns when the breakfast arrived at the table the plate was too small it was a large breakfast on a small plate the bacon was undercooked so was the sausages they needed browning a lot more I was hungry so didn't make a fuss I just will not go back to the cafe I won't have no part of it one strike and your out it was deliberately done because a couple came in sat at the window and the lady ordered a bacon sandwich with chips then another couple sat behind me and ordered two breakfasts so I got up and payed at the till looked at the couple's breakfast the bacon and sausages were cooked perfect like I say I won't go back to the cafe again there's about 50 cafe's in Eastbourne that sell breakfast 🤷

Visited twice on my annual weekend away. As always service with a smile, friendly and helpful staff. Food excellent, good portions and excellent value for money. Will be back again on my next holiday!

Sat in sun,I had jacket potato with prawns my friend had breakfast.Both delivered quickly and was very enjoyable.

Visited on Easter Sunday afternoon and were very impressed. We all went for the breakfast omelette and chips and it was delicious! A large omelette with generous helpings of bacon, sausage and mushrooms inside, and a generous portion of chips. It was very filling and well worth the money. The staff were very friendly and the cafe was clean and tidy. Definitely recommend

Called for lunch here on a hot day in Eastbourne. I had a jacket potato with prawn filling and my wife a cheese and onion toastie. Both were delicious. The staff are lovely and friendly and I would highly recommend this place if visiting Eastbourne as I was.

Stoped here before going to the beach for the day. Friendly, helpful staff. Food cooked to a very high standard and the poached eggs were fabulous.

Came on a day down to Eastbourne with the family (4 of us) decided to stop here for lunch. Nice quaint little place. A small menu but with some solid items on it. Between us there where 3 paninni’s and a chilli con carne. The food was really good! Was fresh and can’t complain. One member of the party raised concern due to an allergy and it was handled well. Very nice and friendly staff! Will come back!

We arrived a little past the breakfast cut off time but they still did us a cooked breakfast which was great value. You get extra water with the pot of tea so that is amazing value too. My third visit over the last couple of years whilst on holiday and I will definitely be back again. Staff friendly, cheerful and keep the tables constantly cleaned.

As visitors to the town this cafe was ideally situated with nice a outside seating area. Great coffee and breakfast options set us up to explore the town. The pleasant staff were a bonus, sound covid measures and good value made this a sound choice...

My daughter and I popped into this cafe for breakfast. The food was excellent. Well cooked and presented with alternatives offered for items we didn't want. We had a medium breakfast with a pot of tea for one and a coffee. Great service and value...

We were visiting the eastbourne market then decided to go in port and starboard for our lunch.The food was great, it was very busy, very clean will definately go there again.

Excellent rapport qualité/prix !L’English Breakfast (jusqu’à 14h00) est fortement recommandé évidemment mais les omelettes, ou les autres plats garnis sont également très bons et à prix sympathiques. Le café est très bon marché et est goûteux, notamment le Latte et le cappuccino. Pour manger seul ou en famille, le service est rapide et les propriétaires sont très sympas. Établissement très propre, service en salle où en terrasse.Fortement recommandé!!!!

My partner had scrambled eggs on toast which was good. I had jacket spud with cheese and beans, this was microwaved and warm in the middle so not good. Have eaten here before so pretty disappointed.

It was quite busy when we went in at approximately 1.30pm. It is very clean and nicely set out in here. I asked what sugar free drinks they had and was very pleased that there was a choice of three - Fanta orange, 7 up...

best ever home cooked breakfast your ever get in eastbourne , i usually have a full english with an extra egg and extra beans and its the only cafe i know that thankfully serve the toast on a side plate

El menú parecía prometedor, personal encantador, cafetería muy limpia, bien decorada, pero desafortunadamente la comida no era de nuestro gusto. Mi marido tenía el inglés completo, la salchicha sabía mal. Tuve la tortilla de desayuno, parecía cocinado desde el exterior, pero el tocino, champiñones y la tortilla en sí podría haber sido con más tiempo en la sartén. Las patatas salteadas sin embargo eran encantadores.

Went to Port and Starboard this morning and was very hesitant to try the English breakfast as I can be quite fussy about the sausages and whether the bacon has lots of fat attached but I took the risk and was so glad I did as sausage was lovely with no nasty bits and bacon had little or no fat at all. The staff were polite and friendly and I would recommend to give it a try.

Cheap and cheerful - clean and coffee hot. Plenty of bacon in sandwich BUT plain brown bread is not wholemeal folks! Few chips delivered with sandwich a nice little touch.

This café is only small but the welcome is huge. We were wet and cold and as soon as you walked in the door they made you feel welcome.

Went in for lunch on Sunday 9th August and it was packed out, we got the last table for 2 inside.

Had a lovely cheese toastie here with a good bit of salad on the side, obviously freshly prepared. Latte was hot and beautifully presented. Staff pleasant and friendly. Good value.

We had breakfast which was cooked fresh to order. It was extremely reasonable compared to a lot of other more well known establishments. We could not find fault. It offers outside seating which given the weather was a great addition.

A very pleasant, clean cafe in the busy pedestrian precinct of Terminus Road, between the seafront and the shops. Breakfasts served all day are very popular but they also have a nice variety of jacket potatoes and I had Scampi and Chips. Not a large menu but a good variety. I find this better than wading through page after page. The staff were very pleasant and efficient.

I had the gammon meal on my latest visit. I do not think I have ever had such a tender and succulent piece of gammon in my life. Every other meal that went out looked equally appetizing but whether they tasted as good........

we had a hot chocolate, toasted teacake and banana milkshake, all was well presented, hot and very nice. We both thoroughly enjoyed it. On the day that we visited they had had an inspection and were awarded five stars.

Called on for the Medium Breakfast at £4:50. Good value and nothing wrong with food except I was not keen on sauteed potatoes, could have been sauteed a little longer. Food is freshly cooked and good service.

Stopped here Sunday morning for breakfast, it is nice and clean and the service very good, the breakfast was lovely and hot and served quickly. Would definitely recommend to anyone that's looking for somewhere good to eat.

My daughter and I stopped here for toasted sandwiches. We ordered a cheese and onion and cheese and ham toastie. Both delicious, served with a side salad and coleslaw. Very reasonable priced and very pleasant staff. Definitely would return.

We went here for breakfast and it was really nice. The café is spotlessly clean, the staff are very friendly. There is seating outside as well as in. The service was very quick. There is a nice choice on the menu and we will certainly return.

My wife and I regularly visit Eastbourne and are always on the lookout for decent places to have lunch. Instead of the usual fish and chips or Weatherspoons we decided to try out the Port and Starboard. First impressions were very good, everything seemed very clean and staff were friendly. We both had the breakfasts, reasonably priced and well cooked and we will definitely return soon. Give it a whirl - I am sure you will like it too.

As an Eastbourne resident this is my favourite place to go for a cooked breakfast.

Im sure I've reviewed the Port & Starboard before but after my last visit I want to say again how much I love this little place. I had my family over visiting, we were shopping around Eastbourne and needed a lite lunch, so I brought them here. It was busy on that particular day, and as my aunt is in a wheelchair, but can walk short distances, we need somewhere reasonably accessible, the waiter, saw us coming, moved other chairs out of our way an held the chair for my aunt to sit. Im sure on a less busy day we could have wheeled her in. Lunch was lovely, we had the small breakfast, a panini, a baguette and a toastie sandwich, my family thought it was a great place, better than some of the restaurants we have eaten in. Great value for money, the food is excellent and the service is warm and friendly.

Lovely little place friendly waiter served us although one of our guests asked if it was ok for him to drink his own drink the guy mumbled yes but didn't seem to happy about it. We were 6 in a group and we were all having full meals and drinks.

We often visit this café for midday meals and always find the food well prepared and plentiful. Good value too, and really friendly service from the two owners.

Called in for the Breakfast Omelette - excellent. A quite large dish full of bacon, sausage and mushrooms served with sauteed potato and grilled tomato. Well worth the money. Staff friendly and helpful.
