Perch in Princes Park in Eastbourne

We returned to The Perch for the Sunday roast, and had another fantastic meal! Outside it was cold and uninviting, but inside it was the total opposite. Friendly staff, great food and good wine. What more could you want?

Update: new blonde manager isn't friendly at all. Kind of kills the vibe Other servers like Veronica are still wonderful but manager shouldn't be front of house if she clearly hates talking to people or being hospitable. Weird choice!

I had been looking for a small and intimate venue for a breakfast meeting and team building morning so I contacted the Perch, and I’m so glad I did! From start to finish Rosie from the management team was friendly and accommodating, with bespoke menu choices and all dietary needs catered for. On the day, I arrived to set up early, Rosie and the whole team couldn’t have been more helpful, friendly, professional but also relaxed - just what was needed. The breakfast bap buffet bar was a total hit! The food was exceptional quality, plentiful and really well received- those hash browns were next level! Tea, coffee and juices were also provided. My staff team couldn’t have been happier! As for the venue itself, it comfortably fitted my 100 staff team members. It was spotlessly clean and the disco button in the toilets was a big hit! The venue sits right on the Princes Park lake and with its large glass doors, it was a beautiful place to be on a sunny day. Thank you to Rosie and her team at The Perch for making a really important day very special. From all of the newly amalgamated team at West Rise PRIMARY School.

We have been disappointed with the food here the last couple of times. Everything was unseasoned and although the dishes have obviously taken some thought, we all felt they were a bit confused (the breakfasts) and unseasoned mushroom is really not good to eat. The venue is lovely, great views. Staff are very good.

Had booked my wife, son & I in for the Ultimate Roast as a birthday meal for my wife’s very recent birthday, we were light years from being disappointed! From when we arrived until we left it was outstanding in every dept & was more than glad to add a 10% tip to the bill! A little added perk is the view from the main dining area over Princes Park Boating Lake, it really is just a nice view to have your family meal in front of ! We will most definitely be back !!!!

Underwhelmed. Ordered a Beach Burger - very disappointed, not as described on the menu, small portions no garnish. Although cooked well. When ordering we were not made aware of the 45 min wait on food. When we asked where the food was ( after 30 mins) we were told they were busy . If we were told at the time of ordering we could have decided if we wanted to wait. We have always eaten at the perch since they opened, will probably avoid now . Toilets were dirty and staff grumpy.

Had a fabulous Mother's Day Afternoon tea, food was delicious and even though it was busy, the atmosphere was lovely and staff very attentive. We had reservations and turned up early and although we were happy to sit and have a drink whilst we waited, the host kindly managed to juggle some tables around so that we could be seated earlier which we were particularly grateful for as we had a hungry 7 year old. She also really enjoyed her kids version and as this was her first A/tea it has now set a really high bar.

Sharing platter is probably the best roast I’ve had and quick service with smiles make The Pearch an enjoyable experience. And that’s not to mention the view over the lake too

I had by far my favourite breakfast in the Eastbourne region here. Poached eggs, salmon and avocado on sourdough. Just fabulous! Nice atmosphere, doggy friendly too.

We went to the restaurant on New Year’s Day in storm and rain, without a booking and found the place fully packed. We could have turned down and certainly would have in other places, but we were served in a kind, friendly and helpful manner that I can’t recall having experienced before. The menu then was exceptional too, and each of our group of five was pleased with their chosen food. Thank you too a fantastic team and the young man going even the „extra mile“ after we‘d left ! The Perch will definitely be my place I’m going to with visitors in future (pre-booking of course!) UPDATE FEBRUARY 2025: We went to The Perch Café with another bunch of visitors and again we were impressed by the outstanding service and the constant quality of the food throughout the menu. Definitely my place to take my visitors.

Arrived as a table of 8 without booking for coffee and although very busy, the staff found us a table in the corner and couldn't have been more accommodating. The coffee was lovely and the kids loved the Ultimate Hot Chocolate! Great view across the lake.

Enjoyed their grill night this evening, fantastic service and delicious food! Chocolate drip cake was the winner.

Had the posh breakfast and husband had the fried breakfast. Both were excellent, my poached eggs were perfectly cooked and lovely to have the hollandaise sauce warm. Staff were very friendly and attentive and the place was spotlessly clean. Highly recommend

Went for specifically for the late Sunday sharing roast (4pm till 7pm). The sharing roast platter is ideal if one doesn't eat as much as the other, say. The platter is generous(3 meat and all the trimmings). Nicely cooked and served perfect temperature. Atmosphere is lovely and respectable with ambient tunes playing and bustling with couples and large along with nice staff with dispositions.Surrounding s of course, lovely with outlooks over the lake. Priced at 17 pounds pp plus leftover takeaways makes it very a reasonable Sunday lunch.Oh, and the Perch does a vegetarian Wellington option platter. So, we would genuinely recommend it!

Dog friendly. Good service. Perfect after long walk with our puppies. Appreciated somewhere accept pets and able to have a short break with nice coffee and cake. Only one suggestion please offer pet menu at least puppicino dairy free - willing to spend £ for our beloved fur babies. Blue and Velvet will also be appreciated. 🫶☺️🌄 Such a lovely place to be.Will come back for proper meals.

Updated Review After our last below par visit 11 months ago for a sharing roast, we thought we’d give it another go. What a contrast. The young man who served was polite and efficient and the roast was perfect. Fluffy roast potatoes, cauliflower cheese, with cheese. Crispy but fluffy Yorkshires. Edible stuffing. Perfectly cooked medium/medium rare beef, juicy roast chicken and tasty ham. Great veg and gravy.Pigs in blanket on another level. Plenty of food for two. What was not to like. My 3* has now as should be gone back up to 5* Well done guys, we’ll be back Photo from this visit Previous Review Sharing Roast- We’ve visited many times and had a great experience with great food. BUT today what went wrong? We were phoned to see if we wanted to come in earlier 5pm as they were quiet, so we went an hour earlier, the restaurant had 3 large family parties who were just finishing their mains. Once seated it took a while before drinks orders were taken we had to order our food even though not asked by the young man. When our food did arrive it was pretty disappointing. The cauliflower cheese was waterlogged (no cheese sauce) the roast potatoes had been cooked for so long they had dried out to practically nothing inside, the Yorkshire pudding was hard and cold and stuffing solid rubber. On a good note the beef was perfect and chicken moist. We had the sharing crumble which we were told was apple and blackberry but what came was the thinnest layer of berry compote with barely cooked crumble on top. Considering it wasn’t busy the staff spent more time chatting than looking after their guest. Couples were waiting for a while to be seated before being noticed. One even left. If we had come an hour later as planned how dry would the food been then. Yes we should have complained at the time, maybe we would have if a staff member had come back and asked if everything was ok?!

This is our absolute ‘go to’ for a great menu, lovely view and friendly, efficient service.

Looking for a dog friendly, accessible chilled out cafe on a day trip to Eastbourne and we found The Perch Café in Princes Park. What a marvellous find! The cafe is spacious with super views over the lake, the atmosphere very relaxed and staff friendly and helpful. Food portions are generous - we had the Monty and Bacon Baps with cappuccinos and a pot of tea, and who can resist a good fish-finger Bap?! The Perch was busier than usual (according to Google) but service nevertheless was good. All-in-all, definitely recommended and would come back again!

This morning, myself and 12 members of my family, went for a pre booked breakfast at The Perch. Communication, service, food and experience was impeccable from start to finish. Kate dealt with my initial booking and accepted the many changes up until the day before without question. Total professionalism. On arrival we ordered drinks and then, when all were seated, our breakfasts were brought out piping hot. Delicious food and gluten free dishes were checked and cooked separately. Could not fault anything. Staff super friendly, nothing was a problem and happy to help. It was the perfect experience and i cannot recommend highly enough. Thank you to everyone at The Perch.

Ordered the fried chicken and bacon waffles that came with a huge stack of soft fluffy waffles drenched in syrup, a big chunk of crispy korean fried chicken and 3 crunchy rashers of super smoky bacon. Definitely was upset that I didn't manage to finish it because of the generous portion size, but it was an absolutely fantastic combination. Also ordered the basket of hash brown bites and the servers were super nice when I asked for the hot honey as the sauce from a different dish but they were happy to oblige my want to combine the sweet salt and spice which is my definite recommendation. Overall, for a first visit, I came in expecting a decent meal and had my expectations thoroughly blown out of the water.

We had our Christmas Party at the Perch for the second year. Rosie and Damian met us to discuss options. Very helpful throughout the process. Food was excellent and service great. Thank you all for making the night memorable. We will be back next year! Thank you.

My only disappointment was not having tried here before. What a fantastic place on our doorstep and what a fab meal myself and six friends have just had. We will be back and this will now be my local go to when wanting a lite bite in a fab location with friends. Great value as well 👏

Fantastic service! Lovely breakfast with a view! The waitress recommended the ‘Madame Christmas melt with turkey, stuffing cranberry sauce sausage & bacon’ it was absolutely Devine and huge! Definitely be back again food was delicious!

We threw everything at them - 12 people, 2 dogs, vegans, gluten free people all there for Sunday brunch. They not only coped, they excelled. All food quickly served, correct orders, hot and excellent quality. Staff were just great, there when we needed then but not pushy, and all charming. They even moved tables so we could all sit together. Only 2 of us had been before, all 12 were really impressed and will be returning. They made a family gathering very easy and relaxed. Would highly recommend ❤️

Christmas dinner at the Perch. We had such a lovely time here, the food was so scrummy, camembert, beef rib and cheesecake. Amazing portions! All tasted great with a homemade feeling. Service was fantastic! (Harry)even rustled up a non-alcoholic Xmas Mojito as I was driving, thank you. The band played some enjoyable hits that night, keep doing what you're doing, we will be back next year!! 🎄🤶🏻

Nice table. Long wait (40 minutes) - for food to arrive, When it came, the chorizo / egg hash (4 out of our 6 meals) were served in cold bowls. Actual food itself was therefore tepid, verging on cold. We had waited so long we didn’t send the meals back for another wait! Chef disagreed with our complaint. Well, what can we say to that……. Chips served with the other dishes weren’t fresh, as clearly they had been under a heat lamp for too long. Shame.

Went for family dinner. I can’t work out why staff bring out hot plates then by the time the food arrives the plates are cold and the food was just warm not hot. The heating should have been on as people and us were eating with coats on. Disappointing I’m sad to say.

One of the best places to eat in Eastbourne

Even though we spent over £60 for a meal I was gob smacked when they said they needed the table for other guests arriving for the next sitting. Look out for the long haired blond who had a face like a wet weekend. Other staff were most helpful and happy. I may go back but I won't be rushing because of the above. BIG Parking just outside is closed off from the main road. You don't make it easy to sell your business. Shame really.

Had an absolutely wonderful afternoon at The Perch Cafe on Saturday. The staff were absolutely amazing, led brilliantly by Rosie, the Manager. We were there for a large charity event. The Perch were extremely accommodating & very helpful & everyone was charming & helpful & the food was absolutely delicious. Everyone loved their food. Thank you to everyone involved.

Morgan is well polite Very welcoming Friendly It’s dog friendly and my dog Roxie loves to look out and watch the swans and ducks swim in the pond/lake and other dogs Morgan is really chatty and hard worker

My dad and I come here every week and the staff are great. They remember what we have which is a lovely personal touch. Morgan specifically is amazing. We never have to wait long to catch an eye and is always a smiley atmosphere. Love this place.

Cold day, no heating, food lukewarm, expensive

Just had a Sunday roast here. It comes on a carving board, shared by 2, for £39. Jebus H Kristos! There was so much food, top quality too, that I couldn't eat all my share and my son outlaw couldn't either! I can't think of a better Sunday roast anywhere locally. Top marks.

Nice place, nice location and good choice on the menu. Unfortunately, and not for the first time, service is poor. I chose to sit outside but had to remind the staff to make the coffee and bring it out. Seems that drinks-to-go gets priority. Not enough cups because no one bothers to clear the outside tables. It's a real shame, I'd love to recommend it...but I can't.

Unfortunately they have stopped selling Estralla larger which was the main reason for going there, too many dogs in the restaurant yapping, not hygienic at all, ok if they are outside but not inside. Won’t be going there again.

Visited in may as a couple and had the sharing roast and crumble dessert, we liked that it overlooked the lake. There was faeces smeared on the toilet floor which I spoke to the manager about on the day. However.....we booked with Katy the manager back in June 24 for a vow renewal breakfast for 50..... Worth £1000's. Was a bit of a nightmare getting through emails and messaging but after visiting the cafe 3 times in person, It was sorted and we were assured it was booked. (Shown in their bookings book) After following up in September 24 we have been told that the manager has now left and that our party has not been officially booked, and that they can't accommodate the times agreed and the price quote will now go up. We have sent invites out and dj was was booked who had liaised with the cafe. Thank goodness we followed up and have time to find alternative event space. We now need to reissue new invites at a additional cost to ourselves and lost a DJ deposit. I would not hold any trust in perch group for the future. We can't find Andrew Coombes email to complain to directly. Avoid the perch group in East Sussex

Highly recommend the Perch in Eastbourne! The food was great, the place was very clean and the staff were very friendly. I’d like to give credit where its due- Our table was served by a lady called Rosie and honestly, I can’t remember the last time I went somewhere and received such wonderful service. She was very cheerful and couldn’t do enough for us- it was so refreshing, so thank you!! I’ve already promised her we’ll be back and am very much looking forward to the next time already

We recently visited Perch for breakfast for the first time, what a find! We were greeted by our server Rosie who was very friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The sweetcorn hash was so good and my partner raved about the full English, really good quality sausage and bacon. We both love a Sunday roast, so will be coming back to try this soon. Overall great experience, highly recommended.

A very clean dog friendly cafe set in the park with the lake at the back with seating. Perfect to take your dogs or just a lovely view when having brunch :) Food was lovely with good portion sizes:) nice friendly staff :) Lovely home made cakes also :( We will definitely go back :)

How fabulous were the staff, the food and the venue for my wife’s 60th birthday party at the Perch. We all had a wonderful evening there, such friendly and attentive service from Rosie and all of the team. Would highly recommend for your special event.

Often pop in for a coffee with my baby so he can have some breakfast, the staff are always so helpful in getting me a highchair and bringing my coffee. I don't eat so I'm a low spending customer but they're more than happy to help and it's really appreciated

Great location in Prince’s Park next to the lake and over the road from the seafront. Varied menu with healthy options. I opted for the salmon bowl which had a good balance of protein, grain and vegetables with a tasty dressing. They also do a range or brunch options and desserts.

Very delicious, the only disappointing thing was the hot chocolate, in Spain it would be like ordering a colacao, very very liquid and with little chocolate flavor. Otherwise, the plates of food were abundant and very delicious, the service was very friendly and the place is beautiful. For children they have tablecloths with pictures to color while they wait for the food.

Came in with my partner who’s a fussy eater but they had more then enough choices on the menu and the member of staff who served us was very helpful with explaining the allergens as well as there personal favourite on the menu definitely a must come back

Visited over the weekend this was our first time, we was out on a dog walk and just fancied a small bite to eat and a little drink we was greeted at the door by a lovely friendly lady that explained everything she made us feel really welcome in fact all the staff were really friendly and helpful the food was amazing and I really liked that it’s dog friendly we will definitely be back!

We visited for lunch before taking part in an event, the food came out and it was very hit and miss, two meals were missing the items stated on the menu, when queried were told they had run out of one and the other had been missed. The plates were taken to add the missing item and put back on the table. Fore pots of tea were order and one came out cold. When as for a hot one they said they could not do it so have something else. A chocolate brownie was order and that came out burnt. The staff were very dismissive and really did not care. We had used this venue before and it had been a really good meal. After yesterday we will definitely not be returning
