Absolutely fabulous fish and chips cooked to perfection. Really friendly service and great value. Highly recommended... And decor great and what a traditional fish and chip shop should be.... please don't change anything !!!!

We really enjoyed the fish we ordered. It was fresh fish and very delicious. Their service is top-notch. I was surprised at how quick it took for us to get our food. Very friendly staff. The place is very clean and looks very organized. I definitely recommend this place👌

Loved this restaurant..great fish and chips. Very cosy place with excellent staff taking orders. I even left my beloved flat cap and returned next day to find thr waiter had put it aside for me. Very tasty food and a good price.

My burger had nothing in it. Fries were bad. Never again!

Fish was literally dripping in oil. There was so much that oozed out of the fish that it spilled out of the tray all over me! Customer service attitude when i called and mentioned it was appalling. The "boss" said the chefs were happy with what they sent out and that was the end of it, unless i brought it back which would have been a waste of time and petrol. All i expected was an apology and offer of another piece next visit (ive been quite a regular) but frankly she was not interested. Certainly needs a customer servuce course because she had no idea how to deal with a valid complaint. Usually excess oil is down to incorrect cooking temperature, un-fresh oil, or insufficient resting time. I suspect the latter because i was out the door so fast after ordering i was shocked. So for the minimal cost to them of offering a replacement piece of fish next time, they have lost my custom forever and I suggest anyone else thinks twice about going there. Eastbourne has LOADS of other fish n chip restaurants, and i imagine they treat their customers decently. #totalfail

Really traditional and super fine fish & chips.

The worst meal I ever had the staff wasn't friendly I had a chicken salad and the chicken was full of oil. I send back my salad when I asked for a manager to complain about it the response was really bad no apologies nothing at all. I had to paid for a salad that I coudnt eat it The fish and chips for my daughter was bad as well to much oil you could see the oil in the plate I know that it is fried but I could taste that the oil was not fresh it taste weird. Never recommend it I had a horrible experience. I felt so sorry for the money I spend there. Never again

Stopped off here after a lovely walk along the promenade we both agreed the fish and chips probably the nicest we ever had! Extremely fresh, great portion size, and the staff were very friendly. Only £11.60 for a large cod and chips! Yum!

Awful , arrogant female owner , who has no idea what customer service is , why state open & closing times when you don't adear to them . And to then laugh at customers when they point this out hardly endears herself to people.

Great place excuse the pun for fish and chips, been going off and on for years and never ceases to amaze how good it is, used to live in London but now live in a village local so try to go along at least once a month.

Super tasty fish & chips - a bit greasy. We had the small portion/person - definitely enough for normal hunger!

I only get to Eastbourne twice a year and make it a point to have a fish supper here when I am in town. There is a good selection of fish and it is always well done.

Quality Fish, Quality Chips, Quality Cooking and Quality Service A very well run Fish and Chip shop. I am not sure that I have ever had better fish and chips anywhere. It gets a solid 10 from me and I do know my food.

Once I arrived in Shanghai, I stayed at the Holiday Inn hotel in Huangpu province and discovered the restaurant on the 2nd floor of the hotel...a revelation! Fine dining in the true sense of the word - I tasted an Australian white wine (Sauvignon Blanc) with spicy shrimp and Saint Jacques scallops, but also an excellent mango mousse (attached picture)...I recommend it wholeheartedly, although it is not cheap at all , the service is impeccable!!!

Disgusting dry chicken, mediocre basic salad, stingy portion of chips, rude service, no wine glasses, stunk of old chip vat.. If I could give 0 stars I would.... terrible place

Lovely authentic family run fish and chip place!!

We were recommended this place by a local but it was a huge disappointment. As we entered the restaurant we were ‘greeted’ by a rather hostile waitress. She ignored the women in the group & spoke only to the men. Then, the woman would speak to us and then speak to other waiting staff in another language, which we found quite rude. I didn’t find it a friendly place as another review also stated. The only reason we went there was because it was recommended and because we thought it was part of the Holiday Inn hotels. Holiday Inn, it definitely was not. If you want a cheap mediocre meal, this is the place to go..

DISGRACEFUL HOSPITALITY!!! We weren’t even customers of this restaurant and the (presuming) boss shouted and moaned at us for sitting outside. The waitress also had the audacity to come out and shout after, in front of the whole street without knowing the situation and blaming us for her bosses actions. A kind excuse me would have been appreciated if we weren’t allowed to sit outside instead or verbal abuse and snotty remarks. (Have been customers before so kinda sad but also not as their fish is soggy af)

I ordered a chicken burger to eat in. Got given chips as well and I didn’t even ask for them. Didn’t say anything. The burger was rubbish and I was charged £3.80 for a lime and soda. Ridiculous!!! Don’t recommend

This is something of a little treasure in eastbourne. Most chippys in eastbourne are terrible. This one is tucked out the way, always busy, the food is well cooked and well priced. I'd advise slightly bigger chip portions in the meal deals to contend with other chippys, it can be a bit mean at times. And maybe get rid of the tatty looking and creepy chip man/sign out front as it drags down what could be a great place.

Authentic type fish restaurant. I prefer my battered cod a bit darker and crispier and fish cooked a bit more, this was the opposite light batter and tender fish. I guess that's my preference. Mushy peas a bit runny and fizzy drink flat. Service attentive though restaurant was empty at the time. 2023: original review was couple of years ago. Batter seems a lot more crisper, nicely cooked and not very oily. Mushy peas tasty and thicker. Disappointing was draught beer; very flat. Would pay a little for quality tartar sauce than sachets. Handful more of chips needed.

Food was delicious, but the manager made a big fuss asking for a receipt because we asked after receiving the order.

Been here 3 times this week , and be going there again tomorrow

We haven't been here for at least 2 years. The people seem different so I think it may have changed hands? Anyhow we ordered cod and chips with peas and curry sauce. The fish was a good size and excellent quality and had the skin taken off which is my preference. The batter was first rate - thin, crispy and not greasy.The chips were nice but maybe a little greasy. The portion of curry sauce and peas were enough for two. The prices at £10.50 for cod and chips to eat in were very competitive for the quality.

Fabulous tasty cod without a greasy batter which is in my opinion better. Definitely try this place for a relaxing Saturday fish & chips outing. Quick and friendly service as well, makes you feel like you're a friend.

What a lucky find! We visited in the evening on the last day of Airborne, the four day airshow at Eastbourne. The fireworks on the last evening encourage everyone to stay after the flying stops at about 6 and find somewhere to eat before the display at 9. The whole town was packed with people and to our amazement, Holiday Inn had a table that we could sit down at. The queue for takeaway was out of the door so I had to skip past it to find out but I'm glad I did. I was met by Nathan, who has to be the hardest working youngster in the whole of Eastbourne - or at least he certainly was when we visited. He found us our table and very kindly helped me (or actually I helped him!) stow our pushchair out of the way which was really helpful. Service was frenetic and it was clear that the many members of staff that were working that evening were rushed off their feet - not surprising on an Airborne evening. Nonetheless, the food was absolutely outstanding - fresh and really nicely made, and although the place was flat out, we received our meal in no time at all and we're really looked after. A big thumbs up also for stocking the lager from Longman Brewery, just down the road. Top marks to all involved - and a big pat on the back to Nathan - this young man will go far in the world. We look forward to returning for more fish and chips sometime soon.

A generous 2 out of five , and only because the food was acceptable but rude dreadful service . Food thrown on the table , glasses slammed down , no small fish! No kids menu , rude staff I could go on and on. The food here is generally ok but I was totally shocked by their servers , we were simply an inconvenience that they rudely dealt with. Cleanliness an issue with grubby tables and old outdated furniture. I guess I should have known when I phoned to book and was told “not at Airbourne” and the phone was slammed down, Not good for kids and unless you enjoy rude and offhand service it’s not good for adults either . Takeaway is the only way forward from this place .

Went in to check about allergies for my son and the waitress tried her best to help but the chef was very rude like it was such an inconvenience for them. Wouldn’t recommend or go back!

Fantastic find we were staying in the next road over and fancied fish and chips ,some other customers sat outside told us how great this place is so we went in and were not disappointed .In fact we returned every night of our 4 night stay ,the menu is great not all fish you can have steak ,liver ,omlette ,salad and lots more and all at very reasonable prices it was working out at £10 a head for fast service ,excellent portion sizes and lovely food .The fish portions were large in a light batter and the chips perfect real potatoes not the reconstituted ones you sometimes get ,we had grilled plaice one night and that was perfectly cooked too .Highly recommended if you find youself in Eastbourne, just one niggle the waitress serving us has absolutly no customer service skills she was abrupt to the point of rudness declaired she didnt like fish and was fed up with people telling her how wonderful the food was ,her attitude didnt change the whole four evenings we visited she was very efficient though and we found her attitude very amusing .

Great fish and chip tea. Tasty perfectly cooked food. Had a lovely cold beer with meal. The star of the show however was the gorgeous family who seemed to be having a great time as they worked. The young lad serving was so funny - a mini-me character - an adult 10 years before he was due to be. So good - we will be back

Rude! Italian chef extremely rude and unhelpful. Shame as fish and chips very tasty but due to lack of customer service won't be coming back.

Stopped by here today for lunch. Lovely staff from the moment we stepped in the door. Best customer service by a mile! Food was delicious too, had cod and chips - plentiful and tasty. Will definitely be returning here when we visit Eastbourne again

I went into this Fish shop the on Saturday with a friend and had Cod & Chips....the Fish was great and the batter perfect but the Chips are awful all hard pieces you cannot eat ..why don't they get some other chips...

I don’t normally write reviews but I’ve been here a few times and the food is always top notch. Lovely light batter on the fish which is always succulent and chips just right, not too greasy. Love that it is my nearest chippie!

What a fantastic place this is, wonderful service and some of the best Fish and Chips I have ever had. We had a small, medium and large Cod and Chips with 3 soft drinks and the bill came to £38 which in a popular tourist place like Eastbourne I think is fantastic value. If we are ever in this area again we will definitely revisit for our Fish and Chip fix. A full 5 stars from me ☺️

This little fish and chip restaurant has a lovely family vibe. All the food is prepared freshly to order, the grilled sea bass in particular was sublime. Loved the little side bar for a quick tipple. Definite 5 stars, this is the place to go for fish and chips in Eastbourne!

Excellent food at a reasonable price.

This was a recommendation from a lady named Clair from a nearby Eriba dealer. My wife and myself got there at around 5.30 pm. and seated at a table by a pleasant staff member. Our order was taken shortly afterwards and served with a cup of freshly brewed tea while we awaited the food. I had ordered Skate and chips and my wife Plaice and chips. If I was to say it was the best fish and chips I could ever remember having I wouldn't do it justice. The chips were crisp outside and fluffy inside. The fish was cooked to order and arrived with a crunchy batter and the fish moist and flavoursome. The staff were all friendly and more than helpful with any of our requests. ( mainly for more tea and slice of b&b). A great meal, pity I live in Essex or I would be there every week. We'll done guys.

Nothing to fault here, our 2nd visit since September 2020 and as good now as it was then. We live over 80 miles away. We ate in again, nothing fancy about decor but friendly staff, fish & chips all freshly cooked, lovely crispy batter. What more do you need. Thank you.

The best cod and haddock we have ever tasted, lovely crispy batter, chunky pieces of fish, the only let down was the chips, maybe because it was delivered, my last order of chips was disappointing they were small, just warm and looked as if were reheated from lunchtime leftover. However, we will order again and hope for great chips otherwise we will order fish only and fry our own chips.

Melamine tables (no cloths) booths and open tables, buzzy atmosphere, licensed and great fish and chips (and mushy peas, curry sauce....). What more do you need. Shame its about 90 miles away from home!

Fabulous little restaurant in Eastbourne! I was here in the summer with a group of about 15 after hiking the Seven Sisters. The staff made great accommodations so we could all eat together outside in front of the restaurant. The fish and chips were as good as they get and very reasonably priced too (at least compared to London!). By far one of the best restaurant experiences I've had in the UK!

I live 2 hours away but have been in Eastbourne twice in the last month and have eaten here both times- really great fish and chips, batter is crispy and just the right batter/cod ratio. Chips chunky and well cooked. Friendly service.
