Cafe Continental in Eastbourne

Mixed impression. Great service, clean and comfortable interior. Only the food lacked quality. Unappealing sausages, very plain scrambled eggs, basic bread. Very basic overall. No coffee machine so low quality hot drinks. A little investment in quality products and even a little flavouring and spicing would greatly improve this café. Brunch was plain and unappetising, bland. Step up the sausage style! Spice it up a little - and all would be perfect.

Absolutely lovely cafe , lovely people running it, food is gorgeous, decent portions, tasty , I have grilled chicken and its absolutely gorgeous, nothing is too much trouble for them , great atmosphere lots of food choices too, use this cafe regularly it's worth it ,

I have visited this family run business for 12 years and the standard and warm welcome never changes..very popular so we try and get there early. Menu alterations to suit individual tastes and requirements are no problem and your tea or coffee is included in the breakfast. All the food is cooked to a high standard, and the service is friendly. I love this cafe, very much part of the local community.

Visité el café esta tarde con mi esposa y un amigo cercano y quedé muy impresionado por sus preparativos de Covid. Todos tomamos una taza de té para comenzar y luego acordamos probar su plato de cordero turco y, qué sorpresa cuando llegó. El cordero eran pequeños trozos de cordero mezclados con pimentón y varias otras hierbas y salsas. Luego hubo una cúpula de arroz y una buena ración de yogur con pequeños trozos de pepino mezclados. Lamento no haber podido terminar mi comida porque había demasiado para mí. Lamentablemente, no tenía mi móvil para tomar una foto y volveré para poder publicar una foto. Sin duda, vale la pena visitar este café, ya que la calidad de la comida fue excelente y lo que más me impresionó fueron sus precios muy razonables.

My mother visited here for lunch over last week and had a Lunch. was with others who did not eat same meal. The bowl was presented absolutely nuclear hot ( danger sign ). Within 5 hrs of eating this meal Mum was ejecting at both ends which only lasted into next midday so appears very consistent with food poisoning.

Were warmly greeted when we went in and there are menus on the tables. There are a couple of specials on the back wall, behind the counter. We ordered drinks - my husband a chocolate milkshake and me an apple juice. I got one of the specials, marinated chicken with chips and side salad, £8.30, My husband noticed on the front of the menu was a picture of a plate with a big pie on it, the price was £6.60 - he asked what was in the pie and was given a choice, he choose steak and kidney and was told he could choose what potatoes he wanted and he went for roast, with peas and mixed veg. It was quite busy when we went in here just after 2pm. As we waited for our food, several tables left, four more people came in during our time there - all eating. Our drinks came and my husbands milkshake didn't look or taste of chocolate, it was a strange flavour. My apple juice was quite dark, it was ok. Our food arrived and looked very nice - see photos. Mine tasted lovely. My husband didn't like his pie very much and was disappointed that it looked a lot smaller than the photo on the menu. Our bill came to just under £19 altogether.

Love this place, the guys who run it are so friendly and the food is always amazing and tastes great and cooked to perfection.

I visited early June with my new baby twins, my sister and her two daughters. You can imagine we were quite a bunch! As soon as I walked through the door the man serving (who’s name I didn’t catch) made such an effort to move tables and chairs to create a path for my beast of a buggy on a busy Monday morning. He was alone and completely calm! Fantastic service and even better food! 3 kids breakfast 1 adults breakfast and 4 drinks all for £20!! Impeccable value was absolutely delicious, he even gave my nieces a lollipop to go home with! The little things 🧡 thanks so much cafe continental will be spreading the word! X

Great value for a huge breakfast. Also have fried bread on many breakfasts which is a bonus, friendly staff and lovely food! Favourite cafe in Eastbourne and never been disappointing.

Great cafe, been a regular here for years. The breakfast are lovely, staff are excellent, never had a bad meal here.

Good value for money and supper pipping hot food. Friendly service, clean and very well run. Not particularly easy to park but don't miss out on a gem here as parking in surrounding roads is possible. I recommend the veggie Spanish omelet fries and salad. Quite a community feel in the cafe with customers acknowledging each other so obviously popular with regular locals.

Every time I visit Eastbourne I visit here. Whether it is for Breakfast or Dinner you can not fault it. I had Breakfast included with my hotel but choose to have Breakfast here. The Staff are polite and very quick. Always willing to help. I highly recommend you try this cafe you will not be disappointed.

I have been going to the continental for many years. Never had a bad experience. Staff always very attentive and quick. Food for me has always been perfect. The portions are in my opinion large. Well done continental and thank you for many very good meals.

We love going here, there are no surprises it looks the same and tastes the same every time, tasty hot and good quality. Staff are lovely nothing too much trouble.

The fish must have been sitting there for days! The cod was dry and small. The haddock was just awful, batter but no fish. YUK!!!

I've noticed this place before when we've been driving past on our way somewhere else but today it was getting late so I suggested finding somewhere to eat around seaside and when I saw this place it looked good from the outside.

We have been going to cafe continental for what seems years now since they opened . We have just comeback from our holidays and we will go back today. They always say Hello to you. There dad smiles and can speak a little English he's not ripping you off like one customer has just said. We never go anywhere else because we know we get good , clean food that always tastes good.Josh my son is a fussy eater and this is one of the places he will eat and the carvery at the Toby inn.The cafe he loves there toast and he loves there chicken dinners.I would usually love weatherspoons in town for there curries on a Thursday night, I love cafe continental too. The rice is soft goes well with there curry. They make there food. They work together, you can see them from the kitchen.If you wasn't happy with what you paid you should have said something.We always have a laugh with them, because we want too not because we have too.

Use this cafe twice a week on average. Always good hot food. Very friendly staff and table service. The place is always warm and cosy unlike a lot of other cafes I know. Good selection of well priced meals.

We have been here many many times, the people are always very polite, the food is always to a high standard, it always looks just the sam, never greasy. They have recently changed the sausage. The coffee now is very much improved. great value, good food, brilliant service, competitive price.

I love my bacon sandwich and this is probably the best you can get in town. But i dont go there as often as I might as I also love my coffee. I couldnt get a an espresso so one day I hope that this otherwise excellent and busy establishment will catch on to the growing demand for quality coffee.

The Cafe Continental is very clean, with welcoming staff, and is a highly recommended cafe which offers an extensive menu with excellent value set breakfasts.The food is freshly cooked, with generous portions, and the staff will let you substitute items on their set breakfast menus usually at no extra charge.They also have a wide selection of main meals including roasts, burgers, chips etc but I have only had the Traditional Breakfast, the Inclusive Breakfast, the Continental Breakfast, the Big Breakfast and the International Grill!All of which have been delicious and highly recommended.

I love this place, I have never been to such an accomodating guy who would literally change everything. Im really particular and put when harry met sallys sally to shame. And he remembers my little tweaks even though I may go once a month. No grease, fab bacon, love tin toms although fresh are normally served, good condiments. And so much more friendly than the seaside cafe.The terrible review doesn't reflect this place and if ur going to be a putz then u deserve to be charged. I know plenty of places that would charge if u order individual items. The menus are on show, so they should look around, especially if you are new to a place...all eateries are different :-)

Have only been for fry ups, but leave satisfied every time. Prices reasonable, service is fine, food is great, and the presentation excellent. Perfect use of the sausages as a breakwater between the eggs and the beans. Will always head back when in the area.

The food itself is quite good, although the layout is poor and the management insist of playing the music so loud that you have difficulties in talking to those with you The top up drinks are good

Our local radio club has been meeting down at the Cafe Continental for a number of years and our members are very happy with the service and the consistently high standards of the food being served. I can personally recommend the liver and bacon, chilli con carne and the American pancakes. If you are looking for a friendly local cafe, with a high standard of cleanliness and good food. Give them a try.

I was taken here yesterday lunch time by my son and his wife, it is not a posh restaurant, but is clean and inviting. A wide range of choice on the menu. The service quick and friendly. The meal well cooked and presented in an inviting manner. I feel that you would have to go far to get better value for money.Plenty of food on the plate and good value... What more can you ask for.

Hi all , well I decided to go here on the recommendation of my sister as ive been looking for a decent greasy spoon for ages . The place is clean , spacious and well lit. There is NO big menu on wall, the menus are at the tables . I went to bar and to order as I wasn't to sure if it was table service. So i thought , nice friendly greeting I can trust this guy . BIG mistake!! I ordered 2 eggs , 2 bacon, 2 sausages , tomatoes chips and fried bread and a cup of coffee . He rung it all up and quoted £9.80 Now i can quite easily spend £50-60 a week in cafe no problem. I've been to many cafes and we all know this isn't the average price of a fry up . Mistakenly I had assumed as I was a new customer he'd give me good service , instead he seized the opportunity to take advantage and rip me off as much as possible . He should have directed me to his set breakfasts not this guy he just wanted to prey on me and all this while smiling in my face . Taking every opportunity to charge me for each component added . The food was as expected , sausages lazily deep fat fried as opposed to the griddle, eggs ok , tomatoes cut to thick and not fried more than likely microwaved , chips were ok not greasy at all (and the oil was clean), the bacon was the usual cafe type . Coffee was i drinkable cheap manky instant . To be fair the food filled me up .As I stood up to leave , the owner even had the front to say goodbye to me with a nice "ive just robbed you blind" smile . Whilest sitting there I noticed that a lot of his customers were elderly . This is why I'm writing my review because the fact he was prepared to rob me for as he as he could .made me wonder about them so please make sure THAT YOU ORDER FROM MENU THAT IS CLEARLY PRICED AS HE WILL TRY TO ROB YOU AT EVERY POINT AND SMILE LIKE HES YOUR FRIEND WHILEST DOING IT .I certainly will never visit this sly thief again.

I visited this venue a few months ago and felt meal was average however this time I opted for the continental breakfast and everything was excellent well cooked and presented and generous portions.

Being a vegetarian for 27 years I know a good veggie breakfast when I see one and I have to say theirs is SUPERB! Excellent value for money and the staff are all friendly. My friends who are all avid meat eaters swear by the quality of their meat breakfasts too. Next time you're in Eastbourne and hungry you'd be stupid not to give this a try. ***** from me!

Some of the team had already been here for breakfast before, however this was my first time!Staff were friendly and welcoming, cosy atmosphere for a breakfast place. Plenty of tables available (high chairs too) Staff changed the seating arrangements as our group got bigger (See photos attached) Staff very accommodating and willing to alter the menu around for us at no extra cost! (Not like some places!) Freshly cooked to order, my only niggle was the tea tasted slightly stewed. Great value for money - menu attached We will definitely be back!

I have to say that Cafe Continental offers the best breakfast around! All freshly cooked and the staff are always welcoming and friendly. We had the traditional English breakfast this morning and that has certainly set up up for the day!Will definitely return there soon!

Very clean and comprehensive menu opted for a standard breakfast served with sliced white toast not my favourite and tea breakfast was well presented but bacon and egg slightly overcooked not really up to the standard of seaside cafe where I normally go.

Went here every morning for breakfast while in Eastbourne for a long weekend. Out of all the places we have eaten in various places around the country the breakfast beats them all in every respect. I had a Sunday roast here about 8 years ago, and that was very good. The cafe seems to be used by local people, and it gets very busy. Should have mentioned, the price for the 2 breakfast was £9.60, which included tea and toast.

We always went to this café when our son lived in Eastbourne. He's moved away now, but we still go there, as they do good coffee, and breakfasts and meals. It gets busy, especially at the weekends. You can park in any of the side streets. They get all sorts of people in there, workmen, pensioners, families, young people. Its always friendly.

We visited one morning and were please to be greeted by friendly waiter. The service was quick and the breakfast was not greasy. Hard to find a better cafe .

Fast, friendly and efficient. The food is great and so reasonably priced. A great find. You can even sit outside if you feel so inclined !

I have to admit you will find me here at some point during the weekend, Saturday is our family breakfast day and Sunday is a friend's breakfast day. We can easily spend 3 hours here, eating breakfast then drinking endless cups of tea and coffee. You never feel rushed here and could easily sit and eat on your own without feeling self conscious.I am a veggie and they do a great veggie breakfast including veggie sausages, potato pancakes, beans, toms, eggs, mushrooms and toast. Lots of other combinations, and you can swap things on the menu, they are very accommodating.This is a family owned affair and they are all very helpful and have a good rapport with their customers. The place is spotless and tables are cleared immediately.As well as breakfast they offer lunches and takeaways.Would recommend if you are staying the in the area or live locally.

You want the best cooked breakfast? Head for Café Continental. This is local to us, but we always have to go early because it is so popular, and here's why. Great value, beautifully cooked breakfasts, as well as other items available during the day such as burgers chips etc, generous portions and a great deal - under £5 for breakfast including toast and tea/coffee. My favourite is the vegetarian option which includes a pancake, vegetarian sausage, beans and mushrooms. They will also give you individually what you want-my husband likes just toast and bacon, this is no problem. The place is spotless and the service very friendly and prompt. It is just very special and well worth a visit.

We dont go anywhere else, except here.i went to david llolyd for physio last week, i looked at the menu, and thought i am not paying that sort of money, when i can go to this lovely and warm place, with smashing people, who do excellant food.So i rang my hubby who had been trapped in his car for over 14hours, due to the snow and i took him for breakfast. They do all sorts of food.When the table is empty they are always fast to clean plates away and tidy up, wipe the tables down.They do anything from hot/cold drinks, milk shakestoastsandwiches hot/coldbaguettes hot/coldBreakfasts served all dayHot meals and cold served all dayapple pie and ice creampancakes with cherry and creams mikes favouriteIf u cant see anything ASKMike was so tired, he needed to eat though.We sometimes go during the week, always go at the weekends.Our son whos likes there chicken, roast potatoes, and carrots, he said they do the best toast.I love there caffe latte with a sprinkle of chocolate on top.They work as a family, they always say hello, they work dam hard.We all know everyone, because the people who go all the time, come back everyday or weekend.The prices are really good.The grand shoulld come down to this lovely place and see how they work together has a team, and do real beautiful food, and great prices too.Even if u pay a few more pennies, its worth the extra.You can also see what they are doing.We love this cafe, we have got to know them over the time, and we can have a laugh.Everyone should go there once, i am telling u i dont think anyone would say anything horrible about it.regards debbie a good customeri will ask the next time i go if they have website, and if i can put photos on.They are open until 3pm,they wont say no if u go in just before that.
