Seafare Restaurant in Eastbourne

excellent dishes impeccable service family atmosphere we were here a few months ago and we returned to have excellent Portuguese food again, congratulations.

Absolutely Outstanding! My partner is from Azores so having found a Portuguese coffee shop in the area he was excited to also find this fantastic restaurant. The food is cooked to order and is superb, totally Portuguese, very generous portions and wonderful wine! I've not had Polvo Grelhado before and the Octopus was perfect! Homemade desserts are wonderful! The owners are really lovely and you can see the passion they have for the restaurant. Excellent value for money with authentic food and atmosphere, a homely comfortable place. We'll be retuning to Eastbourne just to eat here!

This spot was such a surprise find! It was getting late & we fancied a bag of chips before a nightcap. This looked for all the world like an ordinary fish & chip shop. It was anything but! It’s a Portuguese family-run set-up. The husband cooks, his sister-in-law literally runs to serve her guests & his wife washes up. Portuguese cuisine is largely based upon fish, potatoes, tomatoes & fresh salad & the food for so fresh, healthy & beautifully cooked. Add to that the fact that every other guest was Portuguese & that shows you the authenticity. We even got given a slice of birthday cake from a neighbouring table! We could have been sat in a Portuguese village for all we knew. A delightful experience altogether.

My daughter and I found this amazing place by accident. At first we thought it might be closed as none of the fryers were operating. Then the beautiful Portuguese owners explained that they cook freshly for individual orders. They explained that for this reason there might be a short wait. Well it was certainly worth the short wait. I had cod and chips which came perfectly cooked. Not a trace of oil or fat on the beautiful chips which were absolutely delicious, as was the cod. The batter was so well done and the cod so fresh and white. My daughter had a salad instead of chips and it came beautifully fresh and crisp. The owners were so delightful and friendly. We will definitely return here. Recommend this place to anyone looking for great fish & chips. Don’t let the external facade fool you. It might even look closed but do go in. You will be glad you did. Thank you for a fabulous meal experience.

Always a warm welcome and freshly cooked fish. The Portuguese offerings are not only authentic, but excellent, too. Highly recommended.

The Seafare might have come in its years concerning some of the interior, but its clean, offers nice food and a friendly service. You can choose between British classics like Fish'n Chips & Pies, aswell as some Portuguese meals and drinks, or as salad. They offer take away as well as inside seating. We have been visiting the Seafare for years when coming down to Eastbourne and will continue whenever possible.

Dirty (outside and inside), appears half closed even during peak dinner time periods and rude owner when I tried to go in and order. No idea how it has such a high rating on Trip Advisor.

Absolutely amazing , wonderful, fresh , made with love fish ! Sooo testy !!! We do recommend to everyone! The best fish we ever had in our life !

The Fish is frozen, every dietician knows that frozen fish has no sustinence, the batter is disgusting, and the chips????? YUCK.............wrong potatatoes, don't go near the place

We walked in about 6pm on aTuesday evening, we thought the place was shut but the owners jumped up and welcomed us and we took a seat. It was very quiet but probably a little early to be busy. The menu choice was great although they didn't have a steak and kidney pudding which my hubby wanted. We both had a cheeseburger and were both impressed at the size of the poriton with chips. The cokes we ordered were lovely and cold and the food was very good quality and very reasonably priced. The outstanding factor was the lady owner, she was so lovely, friendly and welcoming - although we were the only ones in there for a while we didn't feel uncomfortable and she had a lovely smile.

Yesterday evening we came across this little restaurant whilst waiting for the nearby theatre to open. We had a lovely meal and the food was great. The staff were very friendly and it made the perfect start to a lovely evening. We will definitely be coming back here on our next visit to Eastbourne.

Friendly Portuguese family owned fish and chip restaurant. Delicious, ample servings. Some Portuguese dishes available. We now visit every time we come to Eastbourne, so highly recommended.

I popped into this restaurant was walking past looking for food. An i found it n well indeed. Lovely man served me. I do believe was the owner. Portuguese origin but been here longer than I been alive.. Food was ideal great portions of chips "eyes bigger than belly" I have had a great time in Eastbourne thank you very much

We visited to try some Portuguese food and were disappointed to find there was none available on the night we visited. We had Pastéis de Bacalhau to start which were fine but had to revert to Plaice and Chips plus Ham and Chips for mains, which was a bit of a disappointment. The owners are Portuguese so we had a good chat. They had one of our favourite Portuguese wines (Monte Velho) which was, as ever, delicious. The decor and general appearance of the place is run down, but you won't be disappointed at the service or the portion sizes - just like in Portugal!

Only popped in for a light snack to tide us over until our evening meal but the portions were far greater than expected. Very tasty and cooked to order, the cost very reasonable. Seafare is family owned and run. The staff are very cheerful and friendly. We have no meal plan on our next Eastbourne visit, so will return for a main meal, either fish or possibly from their Portuguese menu.

I've been to this place twice in two years since I live abroad and return to Eastbourne once a year. On both occasions I've had cod,chips and peas along with a cup of tea and both times the meal has been consistently good and of generous size. The service is adequate but I did find it strange that I wasn't allowed to eat on a table in the upper section where they have a large tv showing football.

Muy sabroso y la comida bien preparada! Encantadora familia restaurante familiar donde nada es demasiado problema. Uno de los mejor pescado y patatas fritas en la ciudad también con servicio para llevar. Siempre tienen una buena comida y sentir muy bienvenido. Busque el menú portugués así!

Great little family run business, staff were polite and very hospitable. Make sure to check out their Portuguese food also, very tasty and reasonable priced!

Had traditional fish and chips which was very nice. Restaurant looked very clean and immaculate it was a pleasure to eat in. Good prices too.

Sólo encontramos porque un miembro de nuestro grupo de autobús había visitado por más de 20 años cuando visite Eastbourne en un viaje. The meal was OK nothing special. £12 for fish and chips and a burger and chips meal with 2 mugs of tea. Friendly enough staff and polite as well, its down one of the side streets from the front by a set of traffic lights

El restaurante era un regalo Seafare temprano en una noche por satélite ya que no sólo sirven pescado y patatas fritas pero era un restaurante de gran tamaño en su interior.

My wife and I were attracted by the varied and competitively priced menu. In the end we both ended up having Cod as there was n't any Haddock. Although the fish was very hot and well cooked in a crispy batter it was terribly bland. It was the blandest cod we had ever tasted and not enjoyable at all.I finished with banana fritters which came with honey request. These were also expertly cooked and this time very enjoyable.The restaurant is owned by people from Madeira and we found them very friendly and the atmosphere relaxed with plenty of Portugese people inside. The service suffered a little as a result of these distractions.

We were staying in a local Hotel for bed and breakfast and looked for somewhere to eat in the late afternoon. We found this place and thought from the outside that it was a small greasy spoon cafe. We were very much mistaken. it is licenced so had wine with our meal. The menu was varied and we chose cod and chips and mushy peas. Lovely meal for under a fiver. Service by Paula was excellent would recommend.
