Continental buffet plus the Full English was .lovely and kept us going all day We also had some evening meals, not an extensive choice, but there was something for everyone. The evening meals were very tasty. The personal service was excellent too and extremely supportive of our friends' needs

Excellent food, not piled high on plate - sufficient for a small appetite and to allow for a dessert. Staff were helpful, especially when checking if an item was gluten free - the short time I was there the majority of the menu was; the sausages at breakfast were also gluten free!

We stayed at the Devonshire Park hotel and decided to have our first evening meal in their Godfrey's restaurant. The menu is varied and the food is delicious. The waiting staff were amazing and the wine list has plenty of choice. There is a lovely relaxed atmosphere and we were so impressed that we had all our evening meals in the restaurant.

We stayed there before going to the Congress Theatre that is literally just over the road so it was good to be offered an early dinner before the 7.30pm start. The food was excellent with swift and attentive service. Overall, a very memorable occasion and highly recommend.

Great Food and very friendly service for a four day Rotary Conference and seaside break. We have been doing this for over 10 years and it has always been a great venue.

Superb food and excellent wine and service, My wife and I booked a pre theatre dinner for 2 for 6 pm on Saturday 7th October. We both had a salad starter with an excellent dressing, for mains I had the cod dish while my wife had a chicken supreme. Both were cooked to perfection and were complemented by the 2 excellent wines we chose. Service was excellent and I must go again in November!

This is a really lovely little restaurant, the food was excellent and the waitress was really friendly and helpful, it is nice to have such a chatty waitress who told us about the area. I knew I would like this place when I received the confirmation and it stated that they have a dress code. We have visited many smart restaurants that are often frequented by individuals with scruffy jeans or even short trousers which just lowers the tone of the place. We would definitely visit again and would not hesitate to recommend it

We enjoyed your restaurant and the food, it was excellent. We had half board and feasted on breakfast and dinner each day.

We booked a table for 2 at the restaurant for a pre theatre dinner for 6 pm on Saturday 26th August (Devonshire Park theatre to see The Invisible Man). We arrived early closer to 5.50 pm. We were served very well by two waiters who quickly took and served our drinks order. I had a large glass of the Petit Pinotage and my wife a large glass of Pinot. The deal was £16.96 for 2 courses. I had the olive salad and my wife the mushroom soup. Mains: my wife the sea bass and I had another salad. The food was wonderful and large portions! We had another glass of wine each and were ready to walk to the theatre about 7.30 pm. Problem arose when we had to pay as we were sent upstairs. The bill came to £83 and I only questioned it about 5 mins later. The mistake was not accounting for the fact is was the pre theatre deal. This was sorted out the next day and £15 was refunded. I do like this restaurant and we will choose to come here again.

We took our key to the room, but it wouldn't open the door. I went to reception and he 'programmed' the key. No apology. Once inside, I needed to call reception. After fiddling for 5 minutes and trying to make the phone work, I returned to reception. I mentioned the non-working phone. The reply was "Oh, they aren't working". No apology. I wanted kippers for my breakfast, but discovered that they need ordering a day in advance. So I ordered some for the following day. The moment came for me to have my kippers! But I was told that "We have no record of your order". The employee who had taken my order was on his day-off. No apology. There are marks and scuffs on almost every surface. No shelf in the bathroom. Shampoo dispenser out of reach unless you are having a shower.

We use this hotel (DPK) a lot and this was the first really negative experience. We were booked in on our first night for a pre theatre meal at 5.45 but the restaurant was not really up to speed at all and seemed to have quite pleasant but very inexperienced staff on duty . We waited over half an hour for our starter to arrive and even the pre dinner glass of wine took ages to come. The main meal chosen was a Lamb Chop which was very very hard to get off the large bone in it and it came with a huge portion of large chips which I had not ordered and would never had chosen had it been listed as such on the menu. My wife had the same meal and left most of it. We had to leave after the main course in order to get to the Congress Theatre on time. As it was our first night we did not complain but we did not like to eat in the restaurant for dinner on subsequent nights because we did not feel comfortable there. We were not asked about our experience either. This was much below the standard of previous meals in the same restaurant in previous years So a sad a disappointing START to my special Birthday weekend on this occasion . We will return to the hotel but may not dine in the restaurant again. However the breakfast staff were a lot more on the ball and we have no complaints where they are concerned and breakfast was well cooked too! AOKR

The menu was varied, allowing us both to select a suitable meal prior to our theatre performance saving any stress or hassle looking for a suitable restaurant. The meal was served quickly, fresh and hot with attention to detail.

The Devonshire offer a Christmas special over 4 days , this is a fairly relaxed event, mainly based around Gourmet seasonal food , served in the Restaurant. The Food choices were good and well cooked, plentiful portions and a good selection of wines etc..with good attentive service.

I really enjoyable stay and eat at the Deveonshire. Godfrey's Restaurant was excellent for both evening meal and breakfast. Service was razor sharp and very friendly. Food was fresh and hot and straight from service counter to table without delay. Really enjoyed the fish'n'chips which I know is nothing fancy, but in my experience if the kitchen delivers the basics well...there's good chance the rest is good; and it was. Other guests enjoyed other menu options inc. vegetarian and were very pleased. Breakfasts were a treat. From full cooked to other options including a lovely kipper! (need to order previous day) Very fresh and cooked to perfection. Yes, the decor it's a little dated in places but I prefer to define it a genuine ;-)! Would hearily recommend and look forward to visiting again.

We stayed at the Devonshire Hotel whilst attending a Rotary Conference, we also ate there; the meals were excellent and the service matched; we wrote to the hotel after, commending their staff as a credit to them; we have already booked for next year.

Staying at the hotel, we used the restaurant twice for entertaining guests. A group of 4 and then 6.We all had various dishes from the menu, which gave a reasonable selection, which altered daily. My first meal was boiled red mullet in a coconut based sauce. My taste buds thought they were in heaven! The fish was cooked to perfection. And my next experience was a Thai prawn curry. Full of flavour and not overly spicy. Again I would rate as perfect. All our companions enjoyed their dishes equally and there was absolutely nothing to criticise.I cannot recommend this restaurant more highly.

We spent two nights at this delightful hotel directly opposite the beach at Holland on Sea. A room overlooking the sea was spacious and comfortable.One way this hotel really stands out is the friendliness, efficiency of all the staff. From our initial greetings at reception through to every member we dealt with.The management of the restaurant and outside area during Covid was first class. Fast and efficient service and no request was a difficulty.Well done and thank you.

We have regularly used this Restaurant and always find the quality of the food very good with great service. There is a good variety of dishes to choose from and the current covid regulations are observed which makes a fine overall experience.

we have always eaten in the restaurant when we stay at the hotel on a package price. The food is excellent with great variety. Service is very attentive and I cannot fault anything. The only thing I would say is that it is a little too bright with white light bulbs. Maybe try switching off the central lights which might create a little more atmosphere.

We started coming to this hotel when our Rotary Conferences were in Eastbourne. This year Covid meant no Conference so we kept our booking for a long-weekend by the sea. As always it was a great weekend with good food and excellent friendly staff. Health and Government permitting we will be back next year!

We visited the restaurant three times during our stay once for dinner and twice for breakfast. All three occasions were very enjoyable. The evening menu is varied and wine is excellent value for money.

Desde nuestra última estancia, la configuración del restaurante ha cambiado ligeramente debido a todas las medidas Covid tomadas por el hotel. Son excelentes y no pueden fallar. Las mesas, las sillas, tienen respaldo después de cada visita y las mesas están mucho más separadas.Nos sentimos totalmente relajados cuando comimos allí y, como siempre, la comida era excelente, al igual que el servicio. Ted (creo que tengo el nombre correcto) como siempre fue una adición brillante al restaurante siempre cortés, amable y servicial.

Excellent base for a stay cation. Interesting area and very close to the beach. When the corona virus is defeated,the Theatres and all the restaurant s and other amenities will be open.

Our second two night stay at Devonshire Park Hotel whose breakfasts are first class.But the real delight is the meal in Godfrey’s. The same high standard of service as at breakfast and an extensive menu. Starter and main selection offers something for every taste. We both chose lamb which was exquisite both taste and presentation.No hesitation in recommending this restaurant to anyone.

This is our 4th stay at the Devonshire hotel and was not disappointed.The rooms are so clean and fresh with excellent quality bedding and large fluffy towels,also comfy bed.We were on a deal so had a 3 course meal,the food was really tasty but very large portions which we struggled with. The breakfast was outstanding with excellent selection.There are tea/coffee/biscuits and free water in the rooms which is a nice touch.Excellent hotel we will be back. Many thanks to all staff who work really hard.

A Friend bought us a gift voucher for Christmas and as it was my Birthday decided it was a good time to use it.We were not disappointed.Had a warm welcome by Harry who showed us to the very aptly named Harry’s Bar....We decided on a bottle of English bubbles which we thought very reasonably priced.Drank this leisurely and then made our way down to the restaurant ( a lift available for those less mobile).Greeted by Ted(restaurant manager) who gave us the option of 2 tables.A spacious, light and airy restaurant .We started with trout and horseradish potato which was excellent .For our main we both chose the lamb in salsa verde(very tender) and was asked how we would like it cooked.Next time we will ask for it to be cooked more pink than it actually was.Individual choice at the end of the day. Served with steamed veg and chunky chips(was the potato of the day).Was told next time we could have order boiled or dauphinois which we would have preferred.For deserts we had Panacotta and Berries plus Apple cake with creme Anglaise.Coffee and mints were served upstairs in Bar.Had a lovely evening with good food(generous portions) and excellent service all round.Thank you Harry ,Ted and Chef.Harry’s bar next time for us for a lunch time snack........

Dined in the restaurant on both nights of our stay. Food was beautifully presented and the staff very friendly and efficient. Very accommodating as I only wanted a light salad for starter and although not on menu I was presented with an an amazing tasty dish. The portions are very generous and the variety on the menu is great for all. I would ensure that you eat lightly during the day so that you can take advantage of the delicious deserts and my husband recommendation is the sticky toffee pudding, which he says is the best ever. The surroundings are very relaxed and this is a great place to have a quiet evening meal.

We had dinner on both nights of our stay. The menu choices were all appealing but we opted for the 'specials'. Our food was freshly cooked to order and served hot. Everything was cooked perfectly and very tasty. Lovely selection of fruit etc. to start breakfast with and generous servings of the cooked items, ordered and served to your table, not kept warm on a buffet.

Loved the taste of each course and the choices were fair. Surprised to find that the choice of spud is not clear for each mains so check before eating but be aware that according to reception if you ask for a change (even before it is cooked) one would have to pay for the switch from one type of spud to another. Otherwise top notch service and cooking. Not rushed but not left with mess whilst waiting for next course either our (male waiter was excellent both nights and at breakfast he and the lady waitress gave us a table in another room as he had learnt my wife was allergic even to the smell of fish. Worth the money and a huge upgrade from the chain eateries I usually go to at a fair price.

We were a group of 7, with some quite fussy eaters, two with intolerances, and the chef fed us beautifully, taking great care. His pheasant pate was delicious, as was the sea bass. His fruit salad was varied and exotic and very fresh. Each if us was delighted with our meal and we would be happy to return. Indeed one if our group took us all there, as he had enjoyed it previously. Well done, Chef. You made our visit to Eastbourne a real treat. Oh and your scones at the cream tea were so light, fresh and excellent.

Stayed at the Devonshire Park Hotel and ate in the restaurant on both evenings. Had planned to only eat there one night but opted for the second as the food was so good. Very helpful staff (especially Magdalena) with good service. Recommend the pork in mushroom and Madeira sauce!

Our first visit to this superb hotel, but will definitely be returning.

Our main disappointment with our dinner at Godfreys was the speed of service. For us, our evening meal is an event to be enjoyed and not rushed. Plates were cleared as soon as the last mouthful had been taken and the next course delivered immediately. I can accept that perhaps some diners have other things planned after their meal and want a quick turnaround, but this could be ascertained at the start and service planned accordingly.

Beautifully presented food with a wonderful selection of starters, mains and desserts. I had the special of sole which was beautifully cooked and served with a selection of fresh veg so no need to order extras. I had a deal for three courses and left feeling very full indeed. The quality of food and service is excellent. I love it here. It is open to non-residents and is very reasonably priced.

Came to Eastbourne for the weekend as my birthday treat.First night went out for meal and also see Eastbourne.Following day decided to dine in Godfreys but did not expect too much.How wrong one could be.Food was delicious and service fantastic and neither could be critisised.It was so pleasant that following evening also decided to eat in Godfreys because it would be difficult to find anywhere better.However stayed too long talking in bar and at arrival in restaurant was informed was closed ,and chef about to go home.Suprisingly chef said he would stay back and prepare a meal for us which was beyond his call of duty and was fantastic and truly scrumptous.

I am very fortunate to get to England twice a year. Had dinner at Godfrey's twice during this visit. The menu has a nice selection, the food is always beautifully prepared and presented, and the staff are top notch - plus it is a very comfortable dining room. It all adds up to a really great time.

We have been for Christmas Day lunch with our friends for the last few years. The menu just gets better & better each year & the service is exemplary. It is always the highlight of our Christmas as we are made to feel so welcome. This is due to the hard work of all who work there & we really do appreciate their dedication to ensuring that we have a superb time. The food was tasty and looked attractive. The staff were friendly and helpful. They managed to serve all our group (27 people) promptly and efficiently. The whole evening was very pleasant and enjoyable.

I'm not sure what to put, BUT, if I was a winning lotto winner and a millionaire id stay here. Better than that I can stay there now as there prices are outstanding. Arriving, you're greeted professionally, friendly, welcoming. Your suite is fresh and clean to a high standard and done daily. The food was the best place in Eastbourne to eat and you can be a non resident. We had two meals out and they were no wear near the standard of food we had at the hotel. This is a very friendly professional hotel and thats all staff. Worse thing about this hotel is are break came to an end. We will be returning as its very special caring place.

Stayed at the Hotel on a B&B; basis and had an evening meal in the restaurant. The menu choice suited our taste and pocket. The food was beautifully cooked and presented by very friendly staff - one of the nicest meals we have had in a restaurant for a long time.

Restaurant offered good quality food, but was very expensive for what they served. I’d personally recommend the restaurants around the corner from the hotel (5 minute walk away). We ordered lamb and duck dishes, both of which were disappointing. Weirdly, the duck was served with chips.

Tuve una excelente ensalada de tocino de aguacate y Stilton con aderezo de miel y mostaza y mi esposo había fumado salmón, trucha y caballa en la ensalada. Sin embargo, decepcionantemente, tan pronto como bajamos los cubiertos, se limpiaron los platos y se presentó el plato principal. Estaba destinado a ser la grupa de cordero rosa, pero no lo era. Era un miércoles por la noche y solo había otra persona en el restaurante. La actitud argumentativa del personal fue muy decepcionante.

We enjoyed our meal at Godfreys. The food was freshly cooked obviously using good quality ingredients and we were well looked after by the staff.

We were staying at the hotel for one night and booked dinner the previous evening. The restaurant had a lovely atmosphere and the food and service were excellent.

Best fish dish (Zander) and excellent Garlic Chicken. Vegetables perfectly cooked. Chef is brilliant! Nice person who came out of his kitchen and chatted about the food and asked for feedback. 5 star reponses from us and two fellow diners.

We had been meaning to try Godfrey's Restaurant in the beautifully presented Devonshire Park Hotel and very pleased we have now done so.

I cannot think of a single negative to say - I dine here for seven nights every year while attending the tennis tournament, and the food and service are fantastic every time. The menu is varied and imaginative, and everything is fresh and delicious. The whole experience is made perfect by “TED’ the restaurant manager with his calm, attentive and professional approach - and his sense of humour.

I found the seats uncomfortable but the food was excellent - good flavours and decent size portions. Well done chef.

This isn't the first time I've eaten here. The food (the best lamb!!!) is wonderful, the service is attentive but not intrusive. And I had a couple of really good glasses of wine to go with my meal. I knew what to expect and had promised myself I'd exercise some restraint -- but didn't. I did have a starter, main, and dessert (we don't have sticky toffee pudding where I live in The States). All of it was just wonderful

We had a three course dinner with a bottle of Malbec. It was excellent and great value as the food was part of the deal.

Thoroughly enjoyed this restaurant on the 2 nights we stayed at the hotel. The food was of a very high standard. I loved the pate so much I had it both nights. My husband is vegetarian and loved the soups. I had the steak which was cooked to perfection but so much food I could not eat it all. The roast on Sunday was a real treat. Staff very attentive and just liked the vibe of the restaurant. It seemed to attract guests not staying at the hotel which is a good sign and was busy the 2 nights we stayed.

The option of three courses were reasonably priced . There was a good selection, well cooked and presented. Staff friendly and helpful.

We enjoyed a really lovely meal here whilst staying at the Devonshire Park Hotel. The waiters were attentive, the menu choice was very good as was the food. The strawberry pannacotta was absolutely superb.

If youre in Eastbourne I thoroughly recommend a visit here. The quality of the food is excellent and the menu is varied. The staff are also very good and nothing was too much for the young man that served us. He was knowledgeable and charming. The food was obviously made to order, lovely fresh and hot upon arrival and the lamb chops I ordered were so tasty and succulent, the dauphinoise potatoes the best I've had outside of my own. If your a trifle lover then you must not miss out on this. A very generous, obviously home made individual glass of sheer trifle heaven. The ginger sponge is also extremely light and tasty. Duck confit was another hit amongst our group, infact all four of us were extremely happy with our meals and would definite visit this restaurant again.

This restaurant is situation in the basement of the hotel itself but it is open to non-residents too. An extremely well-priced menu and fabulous food and service.

Excellent menu supplied by 2 high quality talented chefs. Very good choice, large portions all at fair prices including the wine. Well recommended.

Wonderful food. A "fine dining" experience but not overpriced. We have no hesitation in recommending this establishment.

Great food and good value. The menu changed daily and included good variety. The wine list was reasonably priced. Shame there wasnt draught beer.
