We shared afternoon tea and it was delicious! Beautifully served, lovely food and friendly, attentive staff, with the sea and pier in the background on a sunny afternoon. A really enjoyable experience! Thank you!

Have used the Langham for many years for food and drinks as our parents lived in the area. We have today dropped in for a bit of lunch to find a dramatic downturn in the food offering. Sandwiches used to be bursting with fillings and nice bread, today we were served limp looking sandwiches on very standard 'hovis sliced bread'! Whenever you ordered a hot drink, there was always a shortbread biscuit or homemade lovely flapjack as an accompanying addition, sadly this seems to have ceased too. Yes the cost of living crisis is having an effect on everyone, businesses included but with these downturns in offering, and without the little additions of 'nice'... Why not just go elsewhere.? Such a shame and I guess it's just a sign of the times.

Best Sunday lunch we have had in Eastbourne. Food was of the highest quality, softest beef and beautifully cooked veg. Excellent service, great value and a fantastic duo singing 'Duality'. 3 courses, all great, for £35 including a glass of prosecco and coffee and chocolate afterwards. Wine was good value too. Will def be back. Thank you to all staff, a credit to management.

Having been a regular visitor to the Langham over the past 12 years I can honestly say the standards have in my opinion remained extremely high. I note with some suspicion a few reviews that appear to rate this wonderful hotel as 1 or 2 star , I can only suppose these are deliberately false accounts to damage the excellent reputation this hotel has always had . The food here is a very high standard and I do not recall ever hearing anything other than praise from other customers . As for the staff I have always found them polite attentive and knowledgeable, I would suggest someone is doing a good job of training the newer members as they progress their careers . All in all keep doing things the same excellent way you have done for years now .

Came for lunch today with my parents (aged 88 & 90) and I felt that I needed to leave a review on here. It was a wonderful lunch in a restaurant with such a great, relaxed atmosphere despite being quite busy. it was a Jazz lunch and we enjoyed the music during our time there. Not intrusive but just a nice background which added to the relaxed atmosphere. Service was attentive and excellent. I thought the menu was great with a good number of choices. I had the smoked salmon starter which was excellent and we all had the roast beef which we all enjoyed. The complimentary glass of Prosecco was a nice touch. All in all a lovely meal and very good value in our view. My Father and I have a background in hospitality so we can't help spotting little details. Today we were able to forget about that and just enjoy the experience. Well done. We will be back!

As an Eastbourne resident, I feel the Langham offers the best value afternoon tea in town. Freshly made finger sandwiches, good-sized warm scones with jam and cream and a pretty selection of cakes and fancies. The slice of tasty sausage roll was an unexpected extra that we all enjoyed. On a freezing winter's afternoon, it was lovely to sit and look at the sea in the warm and cosy conservatory.

Christmas dinner with a group of friends, lovely company shame about the food It all looked unattractive, the main course was awful. Cold & small portions, even of vegetables. The roast potatoes were terrible, white blobs with tough skins from over cooking in cool oven. Christmas pud awful, sent it back, who need brown sugar & breadcrumbs served with cold custard & a swirl of something! I sent a polite message through their website thinks they were just having a bad day & the Boss needed to know. I received a call from Neil the boss who was very aggressive & abusive.

I ate lunch in the Conservatory Restaurant on 31 March with a friend. I had the homemade burger, she had the chicken supreme, both dishes were plentiful and tasty. I had a sundae for dessert, I am not normally a fan of sweet puddings but this was excellent. My friend ate and enjoyed crepes suzette. The waitress did not rush us and gave us time between courses, she was attentive without being intrusive, just right. A very nice treat.

Received a belated birthday present voucher from my niece for Afternoon Tea, which was amazing. Beautifully fresh sandwiches; ham and mustard, creamed cheese and cucumber, smoked salmon and egg mayonnaise. Delicious! Savoury flat sausage roll. Eclair, brownie, chocolate mousse cheesecake, sponge and an apple crumble type dessert. Just simply fabulous. Couldn’t fault anything. Greeted straightaway by Peter, our waiter, and even though we had arrived half an hour early that was no problem. All the staff were very attentive and I would thoroughly recommend this Tea to anyone. Well done. Great standards.

We were staying at the other end of the front in Eastbourne but well worth the taxi ride to this hotel for dinner. The menu is 2 or 3 courses for under £20. The menu is extensive hard to choose, but went for mulles then fish and chips, the piece of fish was cooked to perfection as was chips. The waiters are very attentive and helpful, nice to see water put on table and not having to ask for it. Best meal had for ages first class.

Our group of walkers, between 6 and 12 of us, had been going to the Langham for about two years every Monday morning for coffee before our walk. They put a poster up saying that only residents could go to the hotel for two weeks over Christmas. I called just to confirm this as another group had booked a lunch and were not staying there. The person I spoke to said we could go only if we booked lunch. So I commented that the poster hadn’t reflected this and said we would consider a lunch. I then a few minutes later received a call from the manager who was quite angry. He asked why I was criticising his poster. I just listened to him in amazement as he had a rant and as a result have decided to take my group elsewhere. Plenty of places to go, don’t need to be spoken to by a manager in that way, when we have taken a group there almost every Monday for nearly two years!

Nice looking clean four star hotel. However we tried to dine tonight having viewed favourably the menu at £18 for two courses. We hit a brick wall ; first operative said take a seat others seemed frit that we were not residents and told us to go to reception. Having passed through the dining room it was not full but there was a reluctance to serve us.We decided to leave telling the receptionist we’d report on here. After a short walk we discovered a superb South Indian restaurant serving people of mixed age and for less.

Worst food for dinner. I cant remember the last time I ate food so bad. The slow cooked lamb was totally dry and tasteless no matter how much gravy I poured on it. Potatoes were hard, my wife's cod was tasteless, and sons spaghetti was spicy (my wife tasted it) and they denied it had any spice in it. Staff were friendly , restaurant clean, nice view BUT wouldn't eat here again if you paid me.The only reason this is a 2 star and not 1 star review is that they gave us a full refund, but we had to give a review as nothing can buy back our wasted time. Rarely do we get free time and wasting our time is simply unforgiveable.

We booked for Christmas Day and paid £85.00 per head. This price is at the top end for lunch in Eastbourne on even this special day. I gave it two stars for the food and I would have given it nil for service. We had second seating and our starters arrived we asked twice for the wine list the waiter who served us informed us he knew little about wine as he had only been with the hotel for a few months. When the wine arrived he just poured without showing us the bottle or asking if we wished to taste the wine first. The service was very, very slow and very unprofessional with waiters continually leaning across our table. The dining room did not seem to have anyone in charge.

La comida era excelente, pero aunque había un menú de precio fijo, muchos platos tenían suplementos, lo que significa que no había mucha variedad si quería atenerse al precio fijo. We visited, as a party of seven, to celebrate my mother's 90th birthday and dined in Langhams Restaurant on a Sunday evening in late February. There was a good choice on the menu and every dish was beautifully cooked. Everybody we came into contact with - at reception, in the bar and in the restaurant - was friendly, polite, efficient and made us feel very welcome. The gentleman who took our orders was the main server at our table and he had the perfect mix of efficiency, politeness and light humour. The real surprise of the evening was the birthday cake - complete with candles - that was brought out for my Mum at the end of the meal; it was such a surprise and a really lovely touch. We were the last to leave the restaurant but at no point did we feel hurried in any way. The evening was equally enjoyable and memorable. Unfortunately I don't live locally but will certainly dine at Langhams again next time we are in Eastbourne.

A group of seven decided to have lunch here as it was midway for all of us and what a great decision it was. Our friends hadn’t been to The Langham before and loved the comfortable seats and atmosphere of the lounge/bar area. A delightful waiter took our orders instead of having to go to the bar. Sandwiches, salads, best-ever fishfinger sandwich! and fish and chips were duly served all freshly prepared from the varied and reasonably priced menu, which also has a children’s menu! Staff friendly and helpful and we never felt rushed in any way. Coffee excellent! served with either homemade shortbread or flapjack. So you can see a great place for just coffee or lunch! The hotel itself is beautifully decorated and the dining room has the most wonderful stained glass windows depicting scenes of Eastbourne - as do the ladies and gents toilets! A great place to visit, we will be going again soon!

We had lunch in the hotel and sitting in the window seat with gorgeous and inexpensive sandwiches with a beer was lovely so we decided to book for evening dinner which was not a good experience. There were only three tables with guests dining and the atmosphere was non existent. We perused the set menu which sounded great but was a complete let down. I chose mussels in white wine sauce which I normally love and roast beef for the main. I have never seen such minute mussels ever before and the cream sauce, well, you could stand a spoon up in it, it tasted like unadulterated thick cream with a splash of wine and was not nice at all. I had to pay £2.50 supplement to have them as a first course which would have been fine if they had been good. The roast beef dinner was obviously re heated from the Sunday lunch time dinner, with thickly cut beef very dry, vegetables dried up and the yorkshire pudding not worth eating. My hubby had tomato soup for his starter which he said was very good then joined me with his roast beef dinner he agreed was awful. We had not been offered any rolls with our meal although there was butter on the table. When we had nearly finished our main course another couple came in and were immediately offered rolls and when the waiter noticed my upraised eyebrows then offered us one, too late by then. When asked by the receptionist if we had enjoyed our meals we told her of our bad experience and she apologised and knocked the £2.50 supplement off my mussels. As I told her we shall definitely return for a sandwich lunch but never again for an evening meal.

Was welcomed by the very friendly reception staff and after asking were straight on to finding us a table in the conservatory.Squeezed us in and we were so glad they did. Lovely British and European menu with good amounts of detail.I went for the seasonal rack of lamb and asked for it medium. Can out perfectly cooked and a very keen eye on presentation. The accompanying vegetables and potatoes very, very nicely cooked too. The jus, in a small jug to the side was a welcome addition, rather than the dinner swimming in it.My wife had the rib eye steak and my mother the fish and chips, all to the same level.Waiting staff were great, interactive and friendly, just the right mix of information and humour.Desserts were great too, banoffee being my Achilles heel was spotted and consumed :o)For drinks there was a wide selection and were not over priced like many hotel restaurants. The Melbac sat very nicely on top of the lamb.Average prices, the 4 of us averaged out at £30 each include 2 bottles of wine.Never felt hurried or uncomfortable.Overall a very nice experience.

We booked our table of four for the Sunday Jazz lunch as a special treat for our dearest friends for thier anniversary. We have been to the hotel quite a few times over the years. So our expectations were high. It's not very often you can say that a hotel or restaurant these days can match or exceed your expectations. I'm happy to say the Langham has done just that. The hotel is an eclectic mix of of old world charm fused with modern functionality. Lots of wood, leather and deep carpets are mixed with modern appliances, lighting and big windows. We started with a quick aperitif in the bar. The bar area is nicely appointed with tastefully decor. Very clean. A great selection of beers, ales and spirits. For a change I wasn't looked at with guarded apprehension when I ordered a sherry for my wife. We were even give a choice and the bottle wasn't a forgotten relic covered in dust. Charming young man served us and was helpful. Even to the point of offering to explain the hotel to us. On being taken to the restaurant we were stopped and our coats taken. Arriving at our table we were soon seated and offered menus. Lovely jazz band were playing in the background. The menu is a fusion of old time favourites that you would expect with a little nouvelle twist to the presentation and design. Good comprehensive wine list that is neither cheap nor too pricey. Expect £20 to £30 for a good bottle depending on your taste. Our wine was delivered in good time and professional fashion. Starters arrived and food that was meant to be hot was and cold ones likewise. My smoked Salmon was well presented and plentiful. Very good portion size. We all ordered the roast Beef from the carving trolley. Perfectly cooked sirloin of beef. Just done a little above medium which suits just about everyone. Very tasty beef gravy. Just a little above au jus in consistency. Perfect. Crisp Yorkshire pudding accompaniment. Vegetables served separate. Baked cauliflower cheese, carrots, green beans and roast potatoes. Best restaurant roast potatoes I have ever encountered. We never got to dessert as they had taken it upon themselves to provide us with an anniversary cake. This was just perfect with coffee. The staff were very friendly and professional. The restaurant was exceptionally clean and fresh. Great atmosphere. Even the owner was on hand bustling around and making sure attention to all details was being paid. Aside from everything else that is great about this place. If I had to sum it up. It would be attention to detail. The little things that take it from good to great. We had a very special afternoon. Our compliments to staff and management alike. We will see you again soon.

Tea starts at 3pm.It was a lovely sunny afternoon and once seated we had a lovely view of the seafront. Very pleasant indeed. The table was tastefully laid out, linen was clean and fresh. Even the windows were spotless. That's attention to detail. The main high tea menu is standard with options to add either Prosecco or Champagne for a small additional cost. But the main tea is all included at £15 per head and is great value. For this you get a selection of sandwiches, cakes and pastries as well as fresh scones with clotted cream and jam. There is an ample choice of fresh teas to accompany all that sweet stuff.Lucas was our waiter. He was fabulous. Made sure we had everything we needed or wanted and was always within distance if anything else was required. The hotel is very clean. Staff very friendly and helpful. There is good disabled access. Service from caribbean looking waiter at afternoon tea was appalling and rude. When asked for menu card and for table to be wiped, waiter's response was '' go and pick it up yourself ''. He then continued to circle our table frequently engaging with hostile stares and some inaudible sneering words. When we complained to Mr Neil (owner) ,his response was '' crazy women ''. Appalling and awful experience, never again !

We visited for Sunday lunch 7 AugustAnd were very surprised as to the lovely setting in the Conservatory also the very professional service from Alexis. And of course the food which was of a very high standard. We all live in Eastbourne but this was the first time using the restaurant, and hope its as good when we visit again which of the same standard and is maintained Brian & Jeff Trinity Trees

Sunday lunches out can be so disappointing but not on this occasion. Swiftly greeted and thoughtfully offered a choice of two tables, one quite near to the jazz ensemble the other in a quieter area in the conservatory itself, still within earshot but better suited for my 80 something mother in law and with lovely sea views a bonus. The service was friendly, attentive and very professional throughout. Faultless in fact. The food was of a similar high standard, very good indeed. All in all a most enjoyable time was had by all and would strongly recommend.

We had the pleasure of visiting this hotel for Afternoon Tea on Saturday 11th June. What an absolute delight! We were greeted warmly and shown to our table where we were served flawlessly by the staff. The Tea itself was divine and beautifully presented. Prime viewing too of the Sunshine Carnival, which was a bonus as we had no idea this was taking place! Very good value for money (we had the glass of Prosecco option) , pleasant surroundings and courteous and friendly staff. We shall definitely be returning!

Amazing and fantastic afternoon tea. Staff were welcoming and very helpful. Lovely clean hotel. The Grand afternoon tea was well worth the money, gorgeously fresh baked scones and cakes, fresh sandwiches, absolutely amazing. Thank you so much for making my afternoon with my friend the best, will be returning again very soon with family.

We enjoyed our visit to the Langham for Sunday Jazz lunch, with a warm welcome and attentive, well trained staff. The lunch was well presented and tasty. The restaurant was extremely busy as it was Easter but it was all handled very smoothly and professionally. We already have another booking for July 14 as there is a "special event" arranged and as it coincides with both mine and my husband's birthday I have booked it to surprise him. Looking forward to another enjoyable occasion (if we wait that long!)Thanks to all at the Langham. The Sweeneys.

We went for afternoon tea which was booked for a baby shower, and there was only one other table occupied in the dining room. We were served tea (to drink) as soon as we arrived but then for some strange reason waited a whole HOUR before any sign of food. The staff kept walking past the table without once asking if we were ok and we were almost fainting with hunger before any (prebooked) food arrived, very odd. The presentation and quality was good and the highlight was some huge freshly baked scones made to order, with sandwiches and cakes. So eventually it was a pleasant afternoon, but I cannot fathom any reason for such indifferent and painfully slow service.

This was a last minute booing for lunch with a friend , the hotel is tastefully decorated and traditional , very switched on reception staff. The conservatory was good for the lunch we had in mind although it was 1.45 booking and we were the only ones in there , this meant excellent service by Rosie our waitress who did a fantastic job extremely professional , the food we had was very good and piping hot exceptionally good value washed done with a reasonably priced Chablis. I recommend the Salmon very tasty and the accompanying veg well cooked and a good selection.I am sure with more clients the atmosphere would have been brilliant , the view is picturesque clear sight of the ocean , my only niggle which is minor ,with an empty restaurant it seemed an unusual decision to sit the next couple to arrive who were having an afternoon tea right on the next table when they 20 others to chose from ? but the fare they were served looked delicious. we took coffee in the bar which once again was comfortable and in keeping with the hotel theme very British seaside !But I enjoyed it and would highly recommend it to anyone going to that area, i'm positive the bedrooms are equally as good. Well done The Langham

The Hotel is well run, waiting staff are okay but some need training. Find the lighting in the bar area far too bright and has no ambience. This Hotel when doing larger functions with meals is always excellent with attentive staff and the meals great. However, when having a meal with two people or four then the food prepared is not good at all. The menu is not good, not enough variety and there are items that if you wish them you havdto pay extra.

We booked a table for two in the conservatory restaurant, we were greeted by the restaurant manageress who was very pleasant, she showed us to our table which had lovely view of the seafront and pier. There was an extensive food and drink menu with an additional seasonal choice. There were several large Christmas parties in the main restaurant area however, this did not affect the ambience, quality or standard of our dining experience. Our meals were delicious and beautifully presented, we will definitely be returning and would like to try the jazz lunch.

Not here though, terrific Sunday lunch options with roast beef from a carvery trolley... Ok slightly overcooked but personal choice is no reason to deduct marks.Service had a little hiccup with the starters, but the staff recovered really well and could not be faulted.Great Sunday lunch...amazing value, with a lovely atmosphere... As guests in the hotel we ate a 3 course dinner/evening meal. The food was well presented and delicious. Mum had the prawn and avocado salad starter, poached haddock with cheese and pea cream, I had steak and the chef cooked it to perfection. Booked here quite late in the day and arrived jsut in time for dinner. We were offered fish or steak as there was nothing really left and fish was dry and vegtables not very nice. The best part of the meal was the dessert. Breakfast the following morning was nice. We had traditional cooked breakfast and cereals etc. Waiters not that friendly and the overall atmosphere in the dining area was a bit bleak with diners seated miles apart from each other. The only nice thing I coudl say about this was the nice coloured glasses and vases on the dining tables and the nice looking italian waiter who decided to chat to me when I looked in his direction.

We, being a group of 40!, visited on 11th August for our afternoon tea. We were welcomed by the manager, Simon, and he and the staff were so kind and helpful. Our tea was wonderful - fresh sandwiches, beautiful home-made cake (personally the lemon drizzle was to die for!) and warm fruit and plain scones that everybody commented on. It was a lovely experience made really enjoyable by the staff, the food and the setting. Thoroughly recommended!

I feel really let down by Tripadvisor reviewers on this one, which rarely happens. My husband and I travel to England every year, drive all over this beautiful country, and have had many great meals. I rely on TA reviewers in planning our trips, and was greatly looking forward to eating here after reading the reviews, but the evening was a total disappointment.First, we had quite a bit of difficulty finding a parking space on these narrow streets with cars crammed into every available nook and cranny. Had to back out of an alley with the help of kind passers-by who stopped oncoming traffic for us...a bit comical. After driving around blocks for ten minutes, finally got a space someone just vacated.Passing through the small, utilitarian Langham Hotel lobby, we entered the restaurant, which at first appeared to be closed since the lights were off in the main seating area...walking through there was bit creepy. This was around 7:30 pm on a week night and the only patrons were in the strip of tables on the veranda, charmingly lighted with candles and inviting (sea views when it's not dark), but with just three other tables of diners it was not the vital, happening place we expected. Too quiet with an almost sinister atmosphere of unsmiling wait staff watching our every move. The servers were oddly formal, stilted actually, not friendly or welcoming...and not English, Eastern European perhaps. But they were efficient. We ordered the two course menu, with house wine. I had the prawns Rose Marie salad; a few small thawed shrimp with a lot of mayonnaise...not good. My husband had the cod and chips, and I the fish entrée with vegetables, all bland tasting. The lady at the table next to us complained about her food and sent her meal back, saying she did not want it replaced, just removed from her bill. We certainly commiserated with her, but did not say anything to the staff about our food, which we hardly hate. The server made no comment when clearing our plates. Then, when the check arrived we were charged 12.5 GBP for an expensive glass of wine which we had not ordered; the waiter had it removed from our bill. Accident or attempted scam? We just wanted to leave ASAP, which we did.We would not return to this restaurant.
