Wandered in here planning to grab a coffee and was so impressed by the menu and service we stayed for dinner. Superb smashed burgers but the rest of the menu offered enough choice to satisfy everyone and yet was limited enough for the chefs to do everything really, really well. Offered gluten-free bun. Really friendly and helpful service; superb food.

We’ve not been for ages but after last night’s dinner we’ll definitely be back. The dining areas are really classy, welcoming and clean which makes a big difference. The host was very welcoming and friendly. Couldn’t do more the help. The food was sensational as usual. The menu is fairly small which we feel shows the food is fresh and they’d rather do a small number of dishes really well. We think it’s still the best restaurant in Deal and definitely won’t make it so long before we go again.

Found this place when looking for lunch after a visit to Howletts. And what a good choice it turned out to be. An excellent pint followed by a great value set lunch. All food was tasty and well presented.

If you’re looking for a taste of old-fashioned baking done right, Al’s Bakery is the place to go! Their cream cake is absolutely divine – light, creamy, and perfectly balanced without being overly sweet. The carrot cake is just as impressive, moist with a hint of spice and topped with a rich, velvety frosting. You can tell they use quality ingredients. Al’s Bakery truly embodies the charm and quality of traditional baking. Highly recommend stopping by for a treat!

We have for various reasons always seemed to miss eating here until recently. It has always looked inviting and our visit on this occasions gave no reason to think otherwise . The service was good and the meals looked nice. We ordered toad in the hole as we had not seen it on menus very often . So we were quite disappointed when we were served bangers and mash with a separate Yorkshire pudding, not toad in the hole , the ingredients were correct but were not the dish advertised. A bit like Eric Morecombe , all the right notes , not necessarily in the right order . The staff took my rejection of the dish well and did offer alternatives , but I declined, the moment had passed. In fairness the place was quite full of others enjoying their meals so it was obviously doing something right

I went in for lunch and ordered the Gyros and a side of homemade coleslaw, the man serving was very friendly and chatty. The gyros itself was to die for and the coleslaw was so fresh and tasty. Sadly I was only in the area for work so may not get the chance to come again for a while but I highly recommend.

If you're looking for a cozy spot with great food and the friendliest staff, Chaplins is a must-visit. The service is always warm and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in. The food is delicious, with a variety of options that never disappoint, and the prices are incredibly reasonable for the quality you get. Whether you're stopping by for a quick bite or spending time with friends, this café delivers an excellent experience every time. Highly recommend

First time visiting after new ownership for a Sunday roast as a group of 12. We are all foodies and great cooks so maybe a little more critical than others . The plates were lovely and warm and a very large ( slightly overdone, black edges) Yorkshire pudding was placed on top of the dinner, but have to say I think the dinner is quite small. Three of our party said we were still hungry and could have eaten the same dinner again, one of them isn't a big eater. I have to say the dinner was tasty, warm but not hot. Maybe the opportunity to order a regular or large size dinner maybe the way forward. Also gravy was scarce and an extra jug of gravy on the table would be nice. Condiments were not on the table and had to ask for pepper twice after our dinner arrived. Finally, a choice of 3 lovely home made deserts but all only served with ice cream, no option for custard or cream? Apple crumble without custard??? Please put custard as an option. Dinner small, deserts large 👍
