Fantastic little cafe in st Margaret’s Dover the good was amazing and the portion sizes were generous aswell nice atmosphere and the staff were all friendly and talkative aswell would definitely recommend to anyone in the area

The First Light Bistro, now under new management, has truly transformed into a culinary gem. The star of the kitchen, Amy, has worked wonders with the menu, delivering dishes that are both inventive and delectably satisfying. Each bite is a testament to her skill and passion for cooking. The service is equally commendable—prompt, attentive, and unfailingly courteous, which adds to the overall delightful dining experience. We stopped here while on a coast walk it was really friendly and welcoming, a lovely proper coffee and dog friendly too x

Really worth a visit if you are in the area. We were a party of 14. Despite this, our drinks, a mixture of tea, coffee and a couple of beers, arrived promptly. Followed soon after by our meals - sandwiches or toasties. My choice was a bacon, cheese and pickle toastie- absolutely delicious.

Visited for the first time. We chose the vegan breakfast along with toast, which went down well, and you had a choice of tea/coffee. Friendly staff Beautiful, calm, relaxing location Reasonable prices 🐕 friendly Mummy and 👶 friendly Parking friendly You have to try this place out for yourself. We will definitely be visiting again when we want to get away from London.

Menu looked great and just what we were looking for, especially all the gluten free options. Service started off good and drinks arrived quickly but unfortunately after 45 mins there was still no sign of our food, and when we enquired there will still 2 groups ahead of our party of 3 and it looked like it could be another 20 mins wait, so we paid for our drinks and left, unable to wait any longer for a sandwich, a toastie & avocado on toast as we were on a hike from Dover to Deal and needed to get to our destination.

A great spot to sit, pity coffee was bland no choice offered with breakfast. Food quality poor

Quality breakfast and prices spot on. Pleasant service. I know this establishment says it’s dog friendly but too many dogs with a bit of barking is something that puts us off as well as others I know. It’s like the dogs have taken over the world-or should I say the UK as in Europe people feel dogs are not suitable to go out to eat with. I appreciate the patron will lose customers if a no dog policy so damed if you do, damed if you don’t. But if more places had a no dog policy then I’m more likely to go there. Having said that still will return as above all decent food and decent service in nice surroundings. Recommended

Excellent breakfast with a good range of options. Staff who care about the food and your comfort. No rush. Nice sunny outlook. Convenient for the cliff-walk to the beach.

Fantastic breakfast! Sat outside in the autumn sunshine and enjoyed the full English. So good we returned a couple of weeks later, knowing we could sit inside and dogs are welcome! Very well looked after and checked on that our food was okay. We’ll be back soon!

Enjoyed a lovely lunch with my sister and my Aunty - we've been twice now as the coronation chicken is good (altho' the 2nd time my sister seemed to get all the chicken)

Went in to see a friend play guitar, nice chilled out place. Ordered a couple of pizzas, took a little while to come, but they were worth the wait. Pepperoni pizza and garlic bread were fantastic. We will be back for sure.

FirstLight Bistro is a charming little cafe in St Margaret's Bay that serves up amazing breakfast and lunch. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, and the staff are always happy to help. I've tried both the vegan and regular breakfasts, and both were delicious. The vegan breakfast is made with avocado, tomato, hash browns, mushrooms, beans, and toast, and it's packed with flavor. The regular breakfast is also very good, with all the classic ingredients you'd expect. I've also tried the sausage rolls. They're absolutely delicious, and they're a great option if you're looking for something a bit more substantial. For dessert, I recommend the biscoff or fruit bun. Overall, I highly recommend FirstLight Bistro. It's a great place to go for breakfast, lunch, or a coffee and cake. The food is delicious, the service is friendly, and the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming.

Visited on Saturday, bank holiday weekend. From very limited evening menu (pizza, nachos, scampi with chips and burgers) cafe didn't have burgers and only 2 pizza bases left (7pm)!!! Vegetarian options were only nachos and pizza. Very disappointing (my partner wanted to have burger) but that was the only place in the whole village which had tables available. Daily menu looks much better. Service was good

FirstLight is firstClass. Having recently moved into the village we are becoming a regular for coffee and cake at the First Light Bistro. And, all is first class, the coffee quality is great, the cake selection is fab and all that we have tried (be that eccles, carrot, rock or shortbread) has been very tasty. Oh and the service is welcoming, polite, friendly snd efficient. A great find in a great location Once we are properly settled we shall be sure to try more of the menu. As I say, FirstLight is FirstClass.

Good beer (I recommend the Meantime IPA) Sausage rolls to die for, amazing breakfasts, tasty burgers, great sandwiches, good coffee, five star hygiene certified, what's not to love? A really chilled atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff who are always attentive to your every need. I have to ask, why are you still reading this, you should be heading there already?!?

We feel very lucky to have such a great place on our doorstep…the owners and staff are all so friendly and go out of their way to make guests comfortable. The food is generous, delicious and reasonably priced. Tonight we had pizza, chips and scampi. We’ve visited on live music nights too and the atmosphere is brilliant. They also have great coffee and an amazing gin selection. Totally recommend to anyone in the area, day or night :)

Had a wonderful cooked traditional English breakfast served in no time. My partner had avocado on toast with bacon.

First Light is superb. 6 of us had their Christmas Dinner and we were delighted with the meal and service. We were looked after diligently but unobtrusively with every minded met. The food was of a very high standard with all perfectly cooked, to the last Brussel Sprout! A fantastic experience.

My girlfriend and I misjudged the time it would take us to visit the Cliffs, so it got dark and cold, and we had no way of getting back to Dover. Luckily found this café, which called a cab for us and offered a hospitable rest and refreshment. The atmosphere was lovely and familiar, felt like being in someone's living room! Many thanks from two shivering tourists.

Such a lovely place in a great location! I only found this place recently and surprised just how much they have to offer! 3 different spaces in the same building...... Cafe dining area with a third space which feels like a bar and they show football too! The mocha I ordered was really good! Great staff and really friendly also! Definitely will use more!

Visited today with my 3 young daughters. I never usually leave negative reviews but felt compelled to. Whilst there my dauther brushed past a box covering the electrics whilst we were seated in the front window. The box (very heavy) fell on my 6 year...

Terrible experience. Went today with my three young daughters and mother in law. Full of flies. Food was overpriced...omlette served with a single side item no salad garnish, chips or anything. There was an electrical box thing covering electrics in the window seat which fell on my 6 year old daughter. It took the skin off of her thigh, badly bruised it and left another red mark. I let the owner know. My daughter was viable upset. She was not offered anything to take her mind off the injury or a real apology. I had to ask for some ice. No one looked at her injury. We had already paid in full other wise I would have disputed full payment. Terrible customer service.

Discovered this place the last time I visited St. Margeret's Bay and I needed a place to charge my phone. Staff were very helpful. The food was good too. Thank you!
