The best restaurants serving British food in Dover South East

The Coastguard is a great restaurant and pub overlooking - and almost on -the beach. Food is generous and of good quality and we were lucky to eat outside for the first time this year. It’s very cozy inside, but when the sun’s out it’s better on the terrace.

It's standard pub fare. Quite cramped inside. Waited ages for food. It was OK. I could grumble about stuff but it's a pub selling pub grub, so...

I was so looking forward to coming here and having a beer. But they don’t take cash. So I thanked the barman and left to go to the Goodwin. There’s no reason not to take cash. It looked like a lovely place and had a good atmosphere and would go back if they changed their payment policy.

Fui a visitar a mi familia y yo fuimos al otro lado de la Red Lion, diría que es uno de los mejores pubs de St Margarets el personal es muy amable y acogedor. El precio es muy asequible y el ambiente era increíble. No podía pedir más. Sin duda volveremos de nuevo.

Good choice of menu. Has jacket potato with Chicken Curry very tasty and well cooked. Staff very helpful and cheerful. Anna deserves a raise for putting up with us.

A regular haunt of ours , it being an olde worlde sort of place with pleasant staff where we are always made to feel welcome , and where the food is always good . All at a reasonable price

Sunday Lunch. Not very nice at all. Cheap food served, it was cold. Lumpy gravy. A shame, it used to have a good reputation.

Came to brewers fayre just for a bit of lunch one monday as was in the area and looked quite nice. The food was good however the staff weren’t as great. Our server was constantly on her phone and was very loud and not attentive plus she was rude. All in all I’d go back as long as I didn’t have this server again.

Thanks to Shaun and his team at The Bell for the perfect family Sunday lunch. The service and hospitality was fantastic and the food delicious!

When in Sandwich…. Yes, we totally went there to experience the home of the humble bread and filling. So this café is not exactly the very place where the sandwich was invented, but the staff were lovely and we’re happy to share a story about its origins. The sandwiches we had - the Earl of Sandwich roast beef, the cheese and ale chutney and the tuna mayo - were all lovely and fresh with generous amounts of ingredients.

Not the first time i have been in here but will be the last. Always loved the "real fish and chip shop vibe" now it's cold beans and frozen skinny chips.

Yet again an excellent meal. I had bubble and squeak with bacon, ducks egg and a side of black pudding. My partner had the eggs benedict. Quality was exceptional and the portions were generous. We were served by Emily who was first class and very attentive.

I enjoyed my full English breakfast here .My favourite is the hash browns,however you must note that when you come here you must carry cash because they don’t accept cards .

Purchased a breakfast stick and it was very very tasty, coffee was rather small for a regular coffee but next time we would happily buy a large one. Highly recommend this place, it was my first time but would certainly use again.
