Visited the venue as a group of 5 on Friday night. First of all, the staff , one word ...... amazing. They could not be more helpful in accomodating dietary requirements. The food itself was very good quality, the chorizo scotch egg starter was very good but the pork belly main was even better. All five of us were very pleased with our choices. The Whitstable bay beer was also very good. Well done to the team there .

Lovely pub. Didn’t have the food but it looked good on a neighbouring table. Sea views on the decking out front. It’s a cashless place so card only. There’s no customer WiFi and no phone signal in the bay so bear that in mind when meeting friends here.

A hugely disappointing Sunday lunch: poorly presented, tasteless vegetables, gravy and meat. The table was sticky, knives blunt & the menus stained - verging on unhygienic. We were upstairs & the room decoration was superficial, soulless and grubby. The young staff were the only good thing about the place. Added to this, we found the toilets disgusting. Clearly, we will not be returning and I am not apologising for having high expectations and standards.

I was licking my plate clean. The Lemon posset for dessert was also delicious. The food was honestly, I thought, outstanding. Service was great. All staff were friendly, welcoming and attentive. The decor was incredibly cosy and so well thought of with the theme of the coast, but incorporated a cosy feel with nice elegant music playing in the background. All in all a fantastic lunch. A good Pub nestled between the wonderful cliffs of Dover, in the enchanting village of St. Margharets Bay, surrounded by nature, but easily reachable both by car (15 min) and on foot (1 hour) along the beautiful panoramic path from Dover, that runs over the cliffs. We ordered soups and in particular roasted swordfish with potatoes, which I highly recommend. Prices quite high, but in keeping with the high quality of the dishes. In conclusion, I would still recommend everyone to try this place.

Lovely seating inside and outside with lovely and friendly staff. They were so helpful as we had someone in our party with mobility issues that was not able to get up the stairs and they would not usually serve food beyond the terrace seating they have outside but they very kindly made an exception for us. They have a wide variety of drinks and a decent menu. Also great views from where they are located and plenty of parking. The atmosphere seemed nice both inside and outside and they are located right next to a promenade which was nice to walk along after a few drinks and a meal.

For a long time this has been a firm favourite of the family and me. The time before last the staff all learnt 5 stars including food and drink and gave me the wi-fi code to patrons. This last time I visited the wi-fi code was not to be given to patrons, the lady behind the bar seemed to be more of a bouncer not someone welcoming and respectful. Constantly watching her phone willing the time to dissapear so she could leave, once she left the atmosphere behind the bar improved.... The staff seemed lost and just not as bubbly and confident as have previously. Hopefully this last time is just a one off bad experience.

We left at the starter course after being given the wrong drinks, then when they finally came were undrinkable, red wine served chilled !then food which was inedible we asked for the bill for what we had ordered and we're told that we would not be charged. Fair enough but after promising us you would e mail us the next day a week later we are still waiting. We were there on Monday and booked the same table for 6.30 Thursday. Told it was ‘locked’ We have a dog so limited choice. When we arrived on Thursday our booked table had been given to someone else - friends? - who knows. We were seated at the next table- not as nice. I would have left but hubby said no. I've been a customer at the Coast Guard on and off for some years. It is a lovely venue with a friendly atmosphere and staff. The food quality is generally good. However, I am seeing more of this 'Miler and Carter' trend on the menus in pub restaurants, which should have a clear price point. My last visit was disappointing when I tested their menu pricing. I had steak @ £27 pounds which only comes with chips and a garnish, you then need to order 'sides' to actually have a meal, I had 2 sides adding £9 to what used to be a meal. The veg 'cabbage in a pot' had dried out to the point that it was crispy under lights. £36 for a basic pub steak meal. The other order with my table came with very little and looked like a poor quantity for the excessive price. Again, this would require 'sides' to make up what used to be included in a pub restaurant. This basic meal for 2 without drinks came to £76 with 'sides'. To put it in perspective, I ate twice at the Housel Bay Hotel restaurant recently that has 5 star AA rating and a michelin star. for a table for 2, it was less than this, that included drinks as well. There is much better value. Their tasting menu is higher at £90 per head, but it takes 3 hours to get through and Is an exceptional list of the highest quality items. These prices are obscene for a pub restaurant, and they are struck off my list of value for money venues now.

Down the road from Ian Fleming slash Noel Coward’s house, this comforting pub sits on the edge of a pebbly beach, tucked in amongst the white cliffs. It has the feel of a place on the up. The manager and staff are friendly and chatty. Beer is good and the baked brie, and soup: awesome. Easy vibes on a summer’s day, watching windsurfers defy gravity on the waves and families pick amongst the shoals for treasures.
