The place itself is fine and staff are friendly. However the food is well below average. We had 2 regular roasts with 2 pigs in blankets each. It's £2.50 each extra for these plus an extra £3.00 each because it's a Sunday on top of the normal price. The gravy was just warm water with brown food colouring. The minute portion of meat was not enough for a small child. The roast potatoes tasted off. The mash potatoes did taste ok as well as the peas and leaks but it would be really hard to mess these up. They also do burgers which looked ok my advice is to stay home and cook your own or visit a friend's if you want a roast dinner.

Lunch with another family (adults and kids). Food was good, warm and timely. Our server Liv and manager Mel were exceptional in their assistance with one of our party who has a rare allergy. They were extremely helpful and conscientious with the allergy order and subsequently the guest was confident to eat and enjoy. Again thanks to Liv and Mel. We will definitely be back.

Thank you to all the staff who gave up their Boxing Day to serve us. The set menu food was great & we had a lovely time.

We went for Christmas dinner. The food was good, although the choice of veg was limited. Sadly, whilst the waiting staff were very friendly and helpful, there weren't enough of them and service was very slow. We had a 2 hour time slot for our meal and were still waiting for our desserts long after that had passed.

We had a 3 course Festive Menu meal. The restaurant had set our table with Xmas themed serviettes and we even got a Xmas cracker each. Our waitress, Hazel was very helpful, friendly and greeted us with a smile. She's a credit to your restaurant.

Very lovely food we come regularly the staff are always very helpful friendly and happy. This business is very child and disability aware and accessible a big thank you to them and wish them a wonderful Christmas and new year.

Lovely atmosphere and an excellent choice of Gluten Free food.

Always a lovely meal here and a good atmosphere. We were especially impressed by the fact that there was only one staff member taking orders and preparing drinks from the bar as they were short staffed and she was doing an amazing job without getting flustered!

I took my wife and father-in-law for Sunday lunch. The carvery was very well cooked and the staff, as always, very friendly and helpful.

We has a group festive meal for 11 people. Everything went smoothly from start to finish. The staff were excellent and friendly. The food was good and well presented. Excellent value. We will be back!!

The staff were great very friendly and attentive when there. The food was good and great value for money. Even when we had been charged incorrectly which we can understand can happen especially when there were multiple Christmas parties on. Staff were on hand to quickly resolve and rectify the problems which was much appreciated! Will definitely be back at some point

It was ok sat in bar area would rather had been in a quieter area. We were both wanting a mega mixed grill they didn't have any mixed grills pretty poor I think we had a burger which was nice.

A Glowing Review of a Wonderful Carvery Experience I had the pleasure of enjoying a delicious carvery this afternoon, Wednesday, 27th November, at lunchtime, and it was truly a fantastic experience. From start to finish, the food and service were absolutely top-notch. Let me begin with the food—fresh, flavorful, and served with a generous portion size. Despite opting for the smaller plate, I was more than satisfied with the amount of food I received. The taste was exceptional, and the presentation showed real care and attention to detail. Steve, the Carvery chef, delivered my meal with great energy and a genuine enthusiasm for his craft, which added to the overall positive vibe of the meal. Equally impressive was the service. Ryan, who took my order, stood out as one of the friendliest and most engaging team members I’ve encountered in a long time. He was attentive without being overbearing, made me feel genuinely welcome, and went out of his way to ensure I got the best possible value for my money. His personality shone through—his genuine interest in delivering excellent service was clear, and his efforts made the experience all the more enjoyable. Overall, I couldn’t be more pleased with my visit. The combination of fantastic food and exceptional service made for a memorable meal. Huge thanks to both Steve and Ryan for their hard work and dedication. I’ll definitely be back!

Came here in the past to a splendid experience and a lovely meal. Unfortunately today we chose to have a carvery, it was like it had been under the heat since breakfast time, Turkey was lovely but shame about the rest. This part of the meal was very poor. Most of our group left most of there carvery as not of a good standard. However the deserts were lovely and obviously the drinks.

We go to the rock rose a lot and the staff are amazing and always friendly. If it’s free they know which table we like and always seat us there. The food is lovely and always well cooked. We have even booked for for Christmas Day. Keep up the good work.

Easy location to get to, plenty of parking, comfortable surroundings & a warm welcome from all the friendly staff at a special event arranged and hosted by the Rock Rose managers to honour the community’s Service Veterans during Remembrance weekend. A stylish day to remember with something for everyone, sharing memories, enjoying the entertainment and raising funds for good causes, yet business as usual too, amazing! This place has become a real flagship asset to Dover. Hats off to all the crew onboard. Well done!

This was our 1st breakfast here and it was lovely we were lucky enough to have breakfast here on veteran day and everything that was laid on was wonderful a fantastic experience with lovely and friendly staff.We have had dinner here too and would highly recommend eating here

Rock Rose always has a welcoming atmosphere and is extremely clean including the toilets. Good place to meet friends as comfortable and tables are spaced out well. Food is pub grub and well cooked.

Food was lovely. Lovely clean place. Staff were very helpful. Only one thing the food from the carver could be abit hotter but other wise all good.

Had the carvery. Very good, very nice. Does what it says on the tin. Bish bash bosh, a nice little touch of nosh. Me and the Misses were on our way to a function where there was to be no food so this little stop off filled our boots before we carried on with a few lagers later on. All the waitresses were really friendly and helpful.

came in for Sunday roast, it was quite busy, we were waiting to be seated for a while and weren’t acknowledged by the staff. the girl on the bar finished serving other customers then she seated us, we were then waiting at the bar for a further few minutes again blanked by staff who were stood at the end of the bar. the same girl then came and took our order, she looked quite flustered but was friendly and attentive. once we were done with our food, we ordered desserts which came out before our plates were taken away. the same girl who seated and served us brought the desserts over, she was very apologetic that the table hadn’t been cleared. the food itself was lovely but overall I’d say the staff didn’t seem interested at all in serving us, however, the girl who did serve us was lovely even though she looked stressed throughout the whole meal!

Cold, no veg. Hardly Any peas. Carrot's. Cauliflower was OK. The potato was nice. Just shame it was all cold. There wasn't hardly any gravy ....

Red Thai curry 2 🌶 rating, was far hotter (all 3 that ordered it, struggled on eating it) complained, manager did not even come and speak to us just informed the waitress that future customers would be informed of this. We were very disappointed that a manager couldn't even come to our table.

Absolute disgrace. I had a voucher by email that I had saved to use and was told that it wasn’t valid as a later email had been sent saying they had made a mistake! A woman staff member in black came out and showed me that she had the email saying it was a mistake, irrelevant! It should have been honoured! When I questioned this she said ‘I tell you what, go to the Duke of York instead! and walked off! Absolutely disgusting, so rude! We come here every 2 weeks but never again!

Great Carvery for a very reasonable price. Parsnips were a little on the raw side,but overall a superb meal. Great service,very helpful and friendly.
