Algar Lodge Farm Shop & Café in Dover

Yet again an excellent meal. I had bubble and squeak with bacon, ducks egg and a side of black pudding. My partner had the eggs benedict. Quality was exceptional and the portions were generous. We were served by Emily who was first class and very attentive.

Great ingredients, good service & brilliant breakfast. Not cheap, but well worth it. We will be back. Everything cooked perfectly

Wow! What a brilliant experience at the open evening! Everything was spot on... The welcome, the atmosphere, the tasters, etc. They couldn't have done more to make it any better. Well organised with local produce makers and lots and lots of sampling of goods and drinks. Couldn't have been improved.. Well done to Jane, Kelly and staff!!! X

Visited Algar Lodge a couple of weeks ago after hearing good reviews - well what a disappointment! Had to wait over an hour for a bacon sandwich and when I complained received an extremely rude response from a lady called Lindsey. We will not be returning.

Haven’t dined here but call in regularly to buy food. I would particularly recommend the butcher’s and deli counters. Hunter’s chicken from the first; premium sausage rolls and salad boxes from the latter. And, of course, there’s a lot more than what I’ve mentioned: cold meats, beers, frozen meals, biscuits, fruit and veg, cakes…I could go on. Not cheap but you get what you pay for.

I have seen a lot about this place so a friend and I decided to visit on Sunday. We got there about 12.30 but unfortunately had to wait nearly an hour and a half as they were short staffed for our food by which time we had to go into the shop and buy some food as we were so hungry. Unfortunately went past the hunger by the time we got our food which was average when we received it so not really worth the wait. Shame not sure if i will return.

Have been here several times and have always had a really lovely lunch, except that you've really got to like bread. Everything comes on toast, as a bagel or in a wrap or a roll. It's lovely food and there's loads of it, but it would be nicer if there were some lightweight options.

I LOVE this place. We often visit, not just for the farm shop, which alone is fantastic, but also for breakfast or lunch in the cafe, and it never disappoints. I've sampled various options on the menu, the breakfast is delicious, most recently I tried the Chicken and Bacon Ciabatta, and wow...it was really really good, I highly recommend! The price may be a little on the higher end, but that's because the quality and the portion sizes are so good. 👌 The farm shop itself is brilliant. Locally sourced produce, with a deli counter, a butcher as well as all the other bits you would expect from a farm shop. If you haven't been here yet....definitely go...soon.

Great food and lots of it! I had eggs Benedict my partner smoked salmon and poached eggs. My partner's came with two big slices of toast which was too much for her otherwise great.

Visited with a friend for a very late lunch and it was the perfect antidote to a boozy night-before! The loaded fries were as good as they sound and the portion was generous. A fresh side salad with plenty of cherry tomatoes, cumcumber and onion along with the leaves was a perfect complement. A very creamy, frothy chai latte was the perfect comfort drink! The farm shop itself is big and very well stocked with delicious treats; you’d be bonkers to leave without a little (enormous) something-something for later! The Rocky Road was packed with cherries, marshmallow and biscuits without being at all sickly; moreish and delicious.

The breakfast was lovely , But we ordered the breakfast at 10 and we got it at 10-45 . We should have been informed of the long wait . Buy the time the breakfast arrived the drinks had gone ……and we was late back for work .

Lovely farm shop with lots of unique food and drink items and the restaurant is great. We have recently become regulars here as the breakfasts are so delicious. The food always comes out so fresh and piping hot and you can taste the quality of all of the ingredients. The portions are really big too. The staff are always polite and professional. Absolutely love eating here and can’t wait to try everything on the menu,
