The Hightown has been decorated to a high standard. Visited 2nd night of opening. The bar part was very busy and noisy. Seated quickly and presented with the menu. Unfortunately the restaurant was so popular they had sold out of many main dishes. Manager was very apologetic and compensated us generously. Had toast skegen for starters which was delicious. Had the chicken Caesar salad for main and chocolate fondant. I could not fault the food. However, the bar area was very noisy. We did discuss this with the manager when he invited us to give our feedback. He said he had a plan to tackle that and would in the future perhaps suggest larger groups of people drinking to be seated round the corner. I will be back soon.

I haven’t been here since poor customer service on Mother’s Day. This hasn’t improved. When I order a starter and a main, I expect it to be served as such, however this was not the case! Starters and mains were all served together! I won’t be returning again! I had to put my coat on and then approach the bat for my bill, I had asked for it at this point also, one staff was taking a delivery the other was sat wrapping cutlery. Asked for mayo never got it. Poor show

It’s was our first visit to the enlarged Chef’s Table at its new venue. In the past we have Ben several times to there smaller more intimate restaurant elsewhere in Chester which we loved. The new venue is bigger, brighter and as you would expect much less intimate. Personally I thought the new presentation was ok but not exceptional. The service, menu and meal though were as good if not better. The food retains its originality, imagination and quality. Really enjoyed it. All of it comes at a premium and I think that premium has actually increased in relation to other better restaurants in Chester. Something they need to be careful about going forward. Not a place to go on a budget.

We stayed at the Premier Inn for one night so planned to use the Yeadon Way pub for our evening meal and a few evening drinks after a day at the pleasure beach as it was next door. We soon realised that the pub is closed to the public and only open during meal times to guests staying at the hotel and booking is required. We booked in for food, there was four of us and after being served flat coke not once but twice our “food “ arrived at the table. Out of the four of us only one plate of food was edible this happened to be a pizza. The other plates of food, a chicken burger and chilli nachos were revolting. The chilli resembled brown watery sludge which was only slightly above room temperature and smelled more like cat food than chilli. The “chicken burger “ was a dried out processed chicken goujon that barely bigger than a chicken nugget which was also only just warm. For the first time ever we got the attention of the waiting staff and told them we were only willing to pay for the drinks and the pizza as the rest of the food was terrible and we couldn’t eat it. The waiting staff were helpful and we actually felt sorry for them as it did seem that they were quite used to these kind of complaints and changed our bill without question.

Popped in for a late lunch and was pleasantly surprised. Lots of choice on the menu...we chose steak and mushroom sandwich with skin on fries, onion rings and cheeseburger with fries. Food was served quickly and was hot and fresh. The onion rings were fab! The chef (called Tiger!) brought our food out and was polite and friendly. Family friendly and dog friendly pub. Will be back. They show the footy too!

Used to come several years ago and was always great food and service, sadly disappointed on this occasion. Seems to have changed hands, we waited an hour as a family of 6 with 2 young children for burgers and chips. Garlic bread with tomato was simply toasted bread with tomato puree on, no garlic in sight. Food was very average in comparison to our last visit. Menu sounds very promising but sorely disappointing, tasted like frozen meals. Staff appeared miserable and not remotely friendly. We did complain as thought reasonable and understand there can be a wait but it wasn't busy either. We received no apology and frankly the waitress was sarcastic and rude. Will not be returning! Also used to have a play area as still mentioned on the website which no longer exists.
