I haven’t been here since poor customer service on Mother’s Day. This hasn’t improved. When I order a starter and a main, I expect it to be served as such, however this was not the case! Starters and mains were all served together! I won’t be returning again! I had to put my coat on and then approach the bat for my bill, I had asked for it at this point also, one staff was taking a delivery the other was sat wrapping cutlery. Asked for mayo never got it. Poor show

Never been here before but the staff seemed friendly and the pub was laid out well. For starters I had Katsu fish with Lemon Alioli decent sized portion although could taste the grease on the batter slightly. For mains I had Creamy Chicken Linguine with spinach. It was more like a soup with linguine as the sauce didn't stick to the pasta big chunks of tomatoes to make the dish look bigger than it actually was and not very much spinach. Would have enjoyed less tomato and more spinach but that's just my opinion. Would eat here again and try the other dishes they have on offer

Yet again another excellent meal at the Healy. Been going to this fantastic pub for years and never dissapointed. Plenty of choice on the menu and a good choice of specials. Which are always changing so never the same. Staff are very attentive and experienced which is a plus these days. There's a large beer garden. So when you've been down the Dell with your pooch. Nothing better than a cold beer and nice food. Dogs also allowed inside in certain areas.

I have been going to The Healey a number of times over the years and always had an excellent experience. Well kept, nice decor, clean and a friendly local without being clanish. Parking is on the street and can at times be busy as the area is very residential. The staff are always helpful, prompt and polite. Whilst the food choices have not changed much in the last 10 years, they are still excellent. Standard pub fare, burgers, pies, fish and chips etc. But excellently cooked and presented. A great selection of drinks and ales. And It is still nice to see The Healey supporting local food sources and naming them on the menu. On my last visit I had the Sweet Potato & Spinach Curry, whilst not a vegie, it was excellent. Outside of the menu there is a Specials Board with a handful of additions to the standard menu. Desserts, again, standard homely pub fare, but again excellent. My daughter had the Sticky Toffee Pudding and said it was one of the best she has ever eaten. I wouldn't hesitate to callback at The Healey, ensure you book beforehand as it can get busy. Its a pub, that has found its sweet spot and does it very well. Well done to the team at The Healey.

Excellent service from all the staff. Each and everyone of them were friendly and welcoming. The food was spot on, we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. They were all cooked to perfection. 100% will be returning! The service tonight was wonderful. The food all came out within a good time frame, it was piping hot and all perfectly cooked. The staff were attentive and made sure we were well looked after, continuously checking if we needed more drinks and had everything we needed. We booked a table that could accommodate 5 of us plus a dog. He made sure to seat us appropriately so my dog didn't come into contact with other dogs. Cutlery and glasses were all clean. Food had ginormous portions, the squid starter was delicious and cooked perfectly, I also had the pulled beef Ciabatta, it was phenomenal. Will absolutely be returning and have recommended to family and friends. Definitely suggest the chicken honey and sriracha wing starter, the squid starter, the beef burgers, the pulled beef Ciabatta and the fish and chips (the fish was absolutely ginormous) Sorry my pictures don't do it justice but we were busy stuffing our faces. Thanks again!

It saddens me to write this review, my family and I visit here for food on a regular basis. My son in law booked a table for Mother’s Day for myself, his mum and my daughter with our grandchildren, it was booked 3/4 weeks in advance. On arrival there wasn’t a table big enough for 5 adults and 2 children, we were left to pull 2 tables together. When we ordered our drinks, they brought 1 fruitshoot (2 children!!) my son in law ordered Guinness, sorry run out, then tried to order another IPA again sorry sold out. We then ordered our food and requested that the children’s food come out with our starters, 5 minutes later they arrived. We then got our main courses!! As I said earlier my daughter and I visit here regularly, Tuesday prior was our last visit, we share a main course of loaded fries with pulled beef. We’d had this Tuesday our last visit, when it arrived it was such a poor portion, on questioning we were told they don’t do large and small portions anymore and that was a portion, this had been changed a couple of weeks prior. Lies as I said my daughter and I had been in on the Tuesday prior and had the same thing!! My son in laws mother ordered a roast beef dinner, the beef was extremely dry. Ordered more drinks again forgot the children. On ordering dessert my daughter and I decided to share a lemon meringue pie, it’s was absolutely disgusting, totally inedible! When my son in law went to pay the bill, he was told sorry yet no adjustment to the bill had been made. The service was appalling all round, especially as considering it was Mother’s Day it wasn’t very busy at all! Needless to say we won’t be returning.

We popped in for Mother’s Day, as everywhere else was booked in. It was a pub I hadn’t visited in 30 years. I was back in town visiting family and thought we would give it a go Head waiter was lovely and very welcoming. Service at times was a little slow, food was average (beef was tough, lamb not rendered and York pudding hadn’t risen and was hard). Food presentation lacked at times, with my son’s fish goujons looked overdone. The presentation of food could have been better. However, on balance, it still is a nice little pub and it was a lovely night. Food is average, but it is reasonable for the price and the head waiter and his staff were nice people. We enjoyed it as a nice tea with family for Mother’s Day.

Whilst this pub has solid reviews on TA as a small chain I was expecting reasonable but was pleasantly surprised at the quality of this pub. It was a Monday night but still a good turnout of customers including some regulars. I opted for the 8oz steak medium rare and asked for horseradish sauce. These were both excellent,. Steak was tasty and seasoned and cooked properly and the sauce was delightfully tangy. Chips were clearly freshly done and all the better for it. Simple ice cream to follow which was of good quality. Half glass of Malbec served at room temperature was good too. All for under £30. Thoroughly recommended!

Went here on 30th July 2023. Found the menu a typical pub menu, but not pub prices. Pretty box standard food at extortionate prices. My wife had a roast beef Sunday roast, and any cobbler in the country would have been glad of a piece of leather this tough. I had a box standard "rag pudding" that cost a pretty sum for an ordinary rag pudding with a pile of frozen chips. You won't be surprised to know I won't be going back

We had a lovely meal at The Healey tonight. Easy online booking. Service was great. Most importantly, the food was lovely. The menu is varied and contains some good veggie and a couple of vegan options. I had the chickpea, spinach and sweet potato curry which was REALLY good - and a proper portion, not a piddly tower of rice packed into a pot and turned upside down on the plate like you get in some places. A great big plateful of rice and really tasty curry. Other half had burger and very good chips. Two small boys also ate a plateful each, which is always a bonus. Really happy with the food and service and we’ll definitely go back.

I would just like to say I fully endorse helping local pubs, businesses however this evening was about as bad as it gets as far as a midweek treat goes, food took nearly an hour, a starter for 1 and 3 mains, the starter came and took 45 mins which was meant to come with the 3 mains, we were then told there had been a 45 min delay in food 45 mins after we had ordered. We then waited another 10 mins for the 3 mains. We were also.seated at the wrong table. No communication from staff to customer. I heard several more people being told a similar thing after the event. This is not good enough.

Every morning since lockdown we have walked past The Healey whilst on our daily walk. Then last week there were signs of life, soon followed by the appearance of a takeaway menu. Tonight we decided to give it a try and were very glad we did. Ordering is very simple, ring or leave a message on social media to start the process. I sent a message on Facebook messenger and within minutes we had agreed a 15 minute collection slot and ordered our food. Collection was simple, just arrive at the allocated time, pay and collect. We had never eaten at The Healey, having moved to the area just before the world closed it’s doors, but a local friend had recommended it. We ordered cheesey garlic ciabatta, an 8oz beef burger and a Cajun burger. It was all restaurant quality, amazing thick chips and packaged in individual foil trays. And the bill was very reasonable at £22. We now look forward to enjoying a sit down meal when restrictions permit but in the meantime another takeaway is definitely on the cards.

I have been to this pub several times to eat and have always had a freshly cooked nice meal, however the food we had last night was not good. Judging by the speed it came out it was quite obviously microwaved and was only just warm. The desert was the same, cold in fact, we had to send it back but even then when it came again in was not hot and not very nice at all. The staff were nice and friendly and did deduct the deserts from the bill but then on paying we noticed a few extra items such as wine and extra coffees had been mistakenly added to the bill. I have also been ill during the night with severe stomach pains. Sadly disappointing won't be eating here again.

Healey Hotel is very pleasant and welcoming but does not have a car park so it has to be roadside parking wherever there is a space. This was the first time we have visited here and first impressions were great and staff were friendly but I am afraid we were a little disappointed with the food we received. The chips on our plates were extremely dry and tasteless with one or two not being cooked through and the accompanying gravy had a very peculiar taste which we did not enjoy. It is doubtful that we would re-visit.

The Healey Hotel do not show due care to children and families in their establishment. A highchair was placed directly in front of an open fire, our request to move was refused even though there were plenty of tables free at the time. Use of a highchair was requested at time of booking so this could have been avoided with some forward thinking on their part.Refusal to heat baby food in the microwave due to 'health & safety' reasons. There is no regulation by the HSE which states baby food cannot be heated. Instead we were provided with a jug of BOILING WATER which was placed on a table where 3 children were seated. When I questioned the safety of this the reply was;'If you spill it and burn yourself that's your responsibility.' If they wish to quote h&s they should realise that giving out jugs of boiling water is not acceptable practice. In addition to these the problems, the way we were treated and spoken to by the female supervisor was most disappointing. The manager's excuse for this was Christmas is a busy time. If an employee cannot provide a welcoming, polite attitude towards guests during busy service, should she hold the supervisor position or in fact even be an employee of the hospitality industry at all?

Once or twice a year we visit a relative in Rochdale and most of the time we have been going to a nearby large hotel for lunch. Sadly this has got a little staid and disappointing. This time I did a net search at among others came across The Healey Hotel with some good reviews so the decision was made. On arrival in town we suggested we would have lunch there and it was only a few miles to travel so it was agreed. We stepped in and the layout was inviting, the welcome was very friendly, some tables had boards on them telling you when they were free till others were free. We selected a place and I got some drinks, menus were at the table and a screen on he all kept listing the specials and the desserts. We all chose a local favourite i.e Cheese and Onion Pie with chips and peas (I was able to change mine to beans). The food came and looked fresh and tasty which indeed it was, we all enjoyed it and the portions were good sized. Deciding to go the whole hog we also had desserts again we enjoyed them. On our next visit to the area this will be top of the list for lunch again.

I had the bacon and black pudding salad, and i didnt leave a thing. It was lovely. Twoesls plus drinks came in at £20, a bargain. Coming back. Yes, if I'm in the area I will revisit.

I'm an affectionado of cheese and onion pie and the Healey provides one of the best. The sirlion steak is also melt in the mouth. Wine is reasonably priced and good quality although only a small selection. Book a table at the weekends it's real busy.

First time visiting and I was not disappointed what a lovely place. Great choice on the menu and very reasonably priced. The roast of the day was my choice and it really was tasty with good sized positions for us all. We did ring and book but ended up sitting outside as it was a lovely day and we were able to take a friends dog with us as well. The service was excellent, the food was delicious. Overall the place is very clean, tidy and well presented. We visited late afternoon so it wasn't overly busy but I can imagine earlier in the day it would be busy indeed. Well worth a visit and i will certainly be visiting again.

Tried this place a couple of times recently at about 6pm. Always felt unwelcomed, seems to be too much trouble to find a table for 2 if you have not booked in advance, when they did find us a table we were told that they need it back with the hour, then did not return to take our order for 15 minutes!! Also paying by cash seems to be a problem for them, if you don’t have plastic they take your cash with the order at the table, making you feel like they mistrust you. Service slow and supplied by people that appear to wish they were elsewhere. Don’t intend to return.

Arrived about 4.45, got shown to our table and given menus. After five minutes we had chosen but no waitress around. Went to bar and two waitresses and barman talking. Asked if we ordered at bar or table and told she would be over right away, went back to table and waited another fifteen minutes, at which point we got up to leave. On our way past the bar both waitresses were stood in a corner talking again, as they noticed us I said " If you can't be bothered taking our orders you now have another empty table" We have eaten there before and enjoyed the occasions but the staff on duty today spoiled it. Sorry Guys.

Lunch was nice, had the fish which was massive. Wish they gave you proper chips with meal rather than frozen kind. Reasonable prices and comfortable atmosphere. The only problem is no parking, so you have to park on the road with limited space available. Would go again.

The food was average but the service was terrible........... Ordered food, took an hour to come and then one of the starters didn't arrive, checked with one of the bar staff who was rude, said it would be two minutes and twenty later still not arrived, approached the bar staff to find they hadn't put the order through. Main meal came with the incorrect side, asked what it was normally served with yo be advised that this was what I had asked for, stated it wasn't then the server said that I had been given the wrong plate...... That was the end of the conversation no offer of taking back to the kitchen and replacing with the correct order. All in all the food wasn't worth the effort or the wait. Will not be going back to this pub

we visited on a lovely summers evening and had a reserved table outside, the food was lovely we had food from the specials board ( plaice and a rib eye steak) and the others had a sandwich and a wrap. The sandwiches were very well filled and the wrap was extremely well filled, We all enjoyed the food and the service, The staff were very helpful and as it got a little cooler switched the pateo heaters on for us, It was our first visit but wont be our last

We treat ourselves to Saturday lunch regularly at The Healey, specials are always imaginative. Not the cheapest 'pub grub' but always lovely, well presented and very tasty. Excellent choice of wines and beers! Worth trying!

Went as a coupe for lunch on a Monday so was quite quiet. Nice well presented pub with interesting and lovely decor.Food was excellent and good portions. I had Cheese and Onion pie and partner had Gammon.Wriiten menus and specials on 'TV ' screens on the wall.Lovely seating area outside that is covered. No car park so need to park on the road - could be a problem when busy.Negative was that for a Monday lunch time 'club' music played loudly isn't really what i needed to listern to when having a relaxing birthday lunch. Save it for the night time please! Also couldn't access menus on website and nearly didn't go.Would go againWould

We've been here a few times and particularly like the tapas menu. Previously staff had offered us a tablet with the tapas choices on it, but staff this time said we'd find it on the TV screen, which we couldn't see from our table. The choices were OK but not as interesting as they sometimes have been.Overall it just didn't 'hit the pot' today. Still, the Dizzy Blonde beer was excellent, and "I'm sure we'll be visiting again.

This is an update to my review of 15/02/15.I have eaten here twice since last Christmas and unfortunately have to report they have taken their eye of the ball as far as the food is concerned. On the first of these occasions it was lunchtime and I and my dining companions all agreed that what was served was below average.Determined to give them another chance (anybody can have an off day) my wife and I had something to eat in the early afternoon in January but sadly have to report a disappointment with my offering only being average and my wife's below average.I don't know what has changed and perhaps it is better in the evenings ( not having eaten in the evening recently I don't know),but an improvement is needed if The Healey wants to retain and restore its good reputation.

Just been to the Healey for my daughters birthday. The service was first class. The food was great and served very quickly even though it was a Saturday night and they were very busy. Would advise you book a table as it is obviously popular. We found it good value for money. My daughter had been to another local pub/restaurant the previous week and it had cost her over £20 more for the same kind of food. Will definitely go again

Visited this lovely quaint village style pub a few times now over the last 4 months and loved it every time.Even fitted us in on Boxing Day when due to the floods and power cuts our plans had to change at last minute, (despite being full for bookings).Offering daily specials along side the regular menu there is plenty to choose from.More than adequate beer and wine list too. Good value for money too.The staff are lovely and very accommodating. The place has a warm, welcoming feeling and is cosy and must say is one of my favourite places.

Me and my partner have ordered from here several times, the latest being tonight and it is always perfect. I always order a cookie dough and I have never found another place that beats this one. The quality and size for the price is great. Will continue to order in the future :)

What a gem! This pub stands out not just for its friendly landlords and attentive staff, but also for the wonderful food they serve. The Christmas decorations are truly next level, transforming the space into a winter wonderland that enhances the joyful spirit of the season. Whether you're a regular or a first-time visitor, this pub promises an unforgettable experience. Highly recommended!

Went in this Friday evening and asked if they could freshly fry the chicken for my fried chicken bargain bucket order and they agreed. 15-20 minutes later I notice the owner put in 2 pieces of chicken which were already in the heated display counter from earlier into my bucket, after that he put in 3 pieces of chicken fillets. When I confronted him about it he tried saying that they had run out of chicken and that is why he couldn't give me what I had paid for. I told him that he should have told me that before I placed the order. I asked for a refund and thanked him for wasting my time. Good thing I spotted him when he was putting the food into the bucket. Definitely will avoid in the future !
