Used to be really good. Even allowing for Covid restrictions it was poor by any standards. This is not home cooked food - it is frozen microwaved. On the plus side; the service was excellent and the welcome friendly.

I would just like to say I fully endorse helping local pubs, businesses however this evening was about as bad as it gets as far as a midweek treat goes, food took nearly an hour, a starter for 1 and 3 mains, the starter came and took 45 mins which was meant to come with the 3 mains, we were then told there had been a 45 min delay in food 45 mins after we had ordered. We then waited another 10 mins for the 3 mains. We were also.seated at the wrong table. No communication from staff to customer. I heard several more people being told a similar thing after the event. This is not good enough.

Every morning since lockdown we have walked past The Healey whilst on our daily walk. Then last week there were signs of life, soon followed by the appearance of a takeaway menu. Tonight we decided to give it a try and were very glad we did. Ordering is very simple, ring or leave a message on social media to start the process. I sent a message on Facebook messenger and within minutes we had agreed a 15 minute collection slot and ordered our food. Collection was simple, just arrive at the allocated time, pay and collect. We had never eaten at The Healey, having moved to the area just before the world closed it’s doors, but a local friend had recommended it. We ordered cheesey garlic ciabatta, an 8oz beef burger and a Cajun burger. It was all restaurant quality, amazing thick chips and packaged in individual foil trays. And the bill was very reasonable at £22. We now look forward to enjoying a sit down meal when restrictions permit but in the meantime another takeaway is definitely on the cards.

I have been to this pub several times to eat and have always had a freshly cooked nice meal, however the food we had last night was not good. Judging by the speed it came out it was quite obviously microwaved and was only just warm. The desert was the same, cold in fact, we had to send it back but even then when it came again in was not hot and not very nice at all. The staff were nice and friendly and did deduct the deserts from the bill but then on paying we noticed a few extra items such as wine and extra coffees had been mistakenly added to the bill. I have also been ill during the night with severe stomach pains. Sadly disappointing won't be eating here again.

Healey Hotel is very pleasant and welcoming but does not have a car park so it has to be roadside parking wherever there is a space. This was the first time we have visited here and first impressions were great and staff were friendly but I am afraid we were a little disappointed with the food we received. The chips on our plates were extremely dry and tasteless with one or two not being cooked through and the accompanying gravy had a very peculiar taste which we did not enjoy. It is doubtful that we would re-visit.

MORE AT TripAdvisor

The Healey Hotel do not show due care to children and families in their establishment. A highchair was placed directly in front of an open fire, our request to move was refused even though there were plenty of tables free at the time. Use of a highchair was requested at time of booking so this could have been avoided with some forward thinking on their part.Refusal to heat baby food in the microwave due to 'health & safety' reasons. There is no regulation by the HSE which states baby food cannot be heated. Instead we were provided with a jug of BOILING WATER which was placed on a table where 3 children were seated. When I questioned the safety of this the reply was;'If you spill it and burn yourself that's your responsibility.' If they wish to quote h&s they should realise that giving out jugs of boiling water is not acceptable practice. In addition to these the problems, the way we were treated and spoken to by the female supervisor was most disappointing. The manager's excuse for this was Christmas is a busy time. If an employee cannot provide a welcoming, polite attitude towards guests during busy service, should she hold the supervisor position or in fact even be an employee of the hospitality industry at all?

Once or twice a year we visit a relative in Rochdale and most of the time we have been going to a nearby large hotel for lunch. Sadly this has got a little staid and disappointing. This time I did a net search at among others came across The Healey Hotel with some good reviews so the decision was made. On arrival in town we suggested we would have lunch there and it was only a few miles to travel so it was agreed. We stepped in and the layout was inviting, the welcome was very friendly, some tables had boards on them telling you when they were free till others were free. We selected a place and I got some drinks, menus were at the table and a screen on he all kept listing the specials and the desserts. We all chose a local favourite i.e Cheese and Onion Pie with chips and peas (I was able to change mine to beans). The food came and looked fresh and tasty which indeed it was, we all enjoyed it and the portions were good sized. Deciding to go the whole hog we also had desserts again we enjoyed them. On our next visit to the area this will be top of the list for lunch again.

Also paying by cash seems to be a problem for them, if you don’t have plastic they take your cash with the order at the table, making you feel like they mistrust you. Took our friends to the Healey today Sunday 15th Nov.Service not very good had to ask 3times for a jar of mustard .when the waitress brought it it was empty asked for another again it was empty !!! Steaks arrived one was all gristle the other was cold. How hard is it these days to get a decent meal in a pub. Very disappointed especially as we took friends will not be going again

Sunday roast for three as we continue to survive without a kitchen!! Top quality as usual and huge portions - good job the walk back home is uphill to burn off some of the calories.Visited a number of times now and never been disappointed.

Called at the Healey hotel mid afternoon for a late lunch. Good selection on the menu. We had the shared starter which was very good. The main courses we OK.I like peas on my fish and chips and there was a very generous portion, BUT the downside was the "pea water" made most of the chunky chips soggy!!! Maybe offer mushy peas Also they offer a mushroom and peppercorn sauce but you can't have just a peppercorn sauce therefore it is not a freshly made sauces!!

Out with family members, all over 50. The service was very good but the food was middle of the road, nothing special. The roast beef was a disappointment, very thinly sliced that made me think it was processed rather than freshly carved. Chips were top class. I won't be rushing back.

Now refurbished it was a nice surprise to walk in to this pub. The menu was a good mix of all the old pub favorites and new nice choices. All the staff were friendly and made us very welcome. All the food was well served and nice and hot, the steaks were cooked as we asked for. Overall good food good prices and a nice place. We will return.

We were local regulars but since this pub has been refurbished it seems to have an identity problem - it doesn't seem to know if it wants to be known as your traditional friendly local or a party pub.The food is decent and surroundings good but we want some consistancy so until it sorts itself out it is one to avoid!

Having been here on plenty of occasions we enjoy the food and the pleasant staff. This is a big plus to us as they let well behaved and trained dogs in which in this day and age is unusual.

We went for a meal on a Thursday evening. We had booked a table but when we arrived we there was nobody to ask where it was so we found it ourselves. I bought drinks at the bar, opened a tab and we sat reading the menu. We might as well have been invisible as nobody came to take our order even though the table next to us arrived later and had placed their order. Eventually we attracted the attention of a member of staff and placed our order. The food was fresh cooked and tasty though nobody asked us if it was OK. There were staff behind the bar doing not a lot but even so it was some time before our plates were cleared. The server did not ask if we wanted anything else - a training opportunity here for the manager and staff? We then had to attract another staff member to place a desert and coffee order. Staff were clearly not looking our way and even when we caught their eye service was offhand. We got the definite impression the regulars were served and had conversations with the staff but we were ignored.Nice pub, well presented, reasonable food, poor service. This is our nearest local pub. I will spend an extra 5 minutes to walk to the next pub down the road.

Visited with my family and the food was superb. The steaks we ordered were lovely cuts of meat and perfectly cooked. The beer is really good and the service was great. I wouldn't hesitate to go there again.Only very slight downsides were having a card safely confiscated whilst we ate which makes you feel less than trusted and the lack of a children's menu, However, the food and drink here is well worth a visit.

We do not use bank cards when eating out and they have this weird system where you have to give them your card and they lock it away in a secure box. As we were paying cash we had to pay before they brought the food. We have eaten there several times so you would think we could be trusted!

This was our first time visiting the healey hotel to eat since its refurbishment. The bill was brought before the food (I thought that was odd but never mind), when the food arrived the chips were only just warm enough, the meat was chewy but was cooked the way I asked. Sausage was nothing to write home about given the choice by meat supplier's.Vinegar was brought in a sarcens bottle (nice) and mustard was presented in a colmans jar, half full. The eating areas are not all separate and you could end up with people wandering in a sitting drinking watching you eat.Over all but only in my opinion, I will not be trying again given the other places you can eat that are better.

I've been to this pub on a number of occasions since its refurbishment, but will definitely not go back again. I know it's all about opinions, but for me I go to a pub for good atmosphere and most importantly good beer. The decor is nice, if a little too bright for my liking, and the atmosphere is pleasant. However, the beer is awful! They have Robinson's Unicorn and dizzy blonde on draft, but both have a terrible after taste and to me are undrinkable. The final straw for me though was being asked to give up the table that we were sitting at because it was reserved for the following morning and the staff wanted to set the table up. When we left half an hour later all that they had done was put a table cloth on it.I can't comment on the food because I've never eaten here, however there is a pub not far from here called the Birches which does lovely food and serves really good beer.

Used to live nearby and as we were in the area thought we'd have a look at the changes to our former local. Wow what a difference, the changes have been very tastefully done and we loved how it looked and felt. The food was good and the service great. If we lived nearer this would definitely be a favourite
