The Chef's Table in Cheshire West and Chester

Lovely restaurant. It was a bit pricey but worth it as the food was outstanding. The staff were very friendly and there was a nice vibe to the place. A great place to go for a special occasion.

What an amazing restaurant. Every item of food was cooked nd presented to perfection. The service was also excellent, just pitched at the right level. We will certainly be paying a return visit before too long

What a great place. The food was delicious, the staff were lovely and we could honestly have stayed there all afternoon. We recommend Chefs Table to anyone who enjoys great food at a reasonable price.

This was our first visit to Chefs Table and from the warm welcome we received as we arrived it was clear we were going to have a really enjoyable evening. The food was fantastic ,very innovative and wonderful flavours and the decision on which dish to choose was very difficult as all sounded delicious !!! The service was superb with all the waiters fully engaged and very knowledgeable whether the food or wine . We will certainly be back as it was a memorable meal.

Overall the experience was good, however the main dish was terrible over salted! The snacking (pre-starter) sounded good in the menu but was disappointing. The starter was superb and wine was nice. Was our meal for two worth £166.. No.

From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel incredibly welcome, going above and beyond to ensure the evening was special. The ambience was intimate and elegant, perfect for such a special occasion. Every course of the tasting menu was a masterpiece — beautifully presented, bursting with flavour, and perfectly paired with exquisite wines. The chef's creativity and attention to detail were evident in every bite. What truly stood out was the personal touch. They surprised my wife with a beautifully crafted birthday dessert, complete with a handwritten message. It’s clear that Chef Table is not just about food but about creating memorable experiences. If you're looking for a dining experience that combines impeccable service, world-class cuisine, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere, Chef Table is a must-visit. We’ll definitely be back to celebrate more milestones!

Visited to try the festive lunch menu and it was absolutely delicious. From the soup to the lamb, the duck confit to the ham hock, poached pear and sticky toffee dessert, very dish was so tasty and very well presented. Excellent service from all the wait staff and great wine rec from Cino as always. Practically perfect. We're never disappointed by a meal here.

Pleasant evening. When going to places like this, I do nitpick when spending top dollar. When greeted and presented to your table, you'll be asked if you would like water, either mineral or sparkling, good selling, but at £6 a bottle for mineral water, ask for tap! Good choice on the menu, vast wine list, but prices of wine have gone up since our last visit, but again I chose a bottle they didn't have. Food was good, my main course could have been hotter. Had a cappuccinos at the end of the meal, which obviously came out of automatic coffee machine, it was more like a Latte. Front of house staff were good and dressed in casual but smart bistro attire, but the trainers ?

We have been fortunate to eat in a lot of Michelin restaurants and other great restaurants all throughout the US, UK, and Europe. This was a top 10 meal for us that we've ever had in the last 20 years of dining together. We both had the Venison and it was incredible. The service was impeccable. The sommelier was there just before we ran out of wine every time. All of the wait staff were friendly and knowledgeable. The experience sitting in the lounge first before the restaurant opened was also very welcoming. This was our first time in Chester and we'll be back again partly due to the Chef's Table and the opportunity to eat here again.

Table snacks and starter was beautiful. The lobster tail was well cooked. But the main fish was over cooked and dried.. It needed more sauce as well. Too expensive for what it is. The dessert choice was very poor. We still tried some fruits dishes but they weren't memorable. Wine and coffee are great. The staff are really lovely and friendly. I hope they gets most of the tips.

Probably one of the best meals we've had this year and the cocktails were pretty damn good too. The menu was just to our liking. Every dish was cooked to perfection and presented excellently. Looking forward to going back.

Starter of Venison (x2) was excellent. Main course of Beef was good. Main courses of Duck and Ham Hock were over-salted, as were some of the side dishes. Not very good considering the price.

It was a real treat to eat at the Chef's Table. The food was superb. One for the memory bank.

Lovely meal as always. We had a business meeting in town then needed to relax in a friendly environment Jess looked after us very well along with the unusually quiet Celso. Food and wine were great, an enjoyable day.

I was really underwhelmed with my experience, having gone in with high expectations. Firstly being seated was a little comical, from not knowing which table, to issues taking our jackets. Took forever and a day to get served after we sat down, then when we finally had our order, they forgot 2 of the starters which were later served mid way through our mains. Moreover the food was incredibly salty, I love a seasoned meat but even I was starting to swollen just eating my main. Lastly, I asked for a large glass of wine to finish off my meal, was served a small one, I could tell given the table to our left had the same and it was clearly visibly. Given the farce throughout the meal I didn’t query this, only then to be changed twice at the end of the meal for a large glass of wine. Having spent over £300+, I felt very underwhelmed with the whole experience and would hesitate to go back or recommend this place to anyone in the future, sadly.

Booked a table for my birthday after reading some good reviews. Unfortunately, our high expectations have not been met. All dishes have been significantly more salty than in other restaurants. I have ordered scallops with corn and mash with chives. I believe not even a full scallop was served in a significant amount of corn for the size of the scallop and the mash was just…usual. The beef that my husband had was tender, but the sauce which came with it just covered the flavour of the meet since it was too spicy. Plus, the cauliflower served with the beef didn’t add any value to the course. The desserts were again not to the expectations (very sweet, but lacking true flavour and a good combination of textures). Please note this is not intended as a bad review, but more as a recommendation to maintain the high standard of the restaurant. P.S. There is no baby changing table in the restaurant, despite me announcing beforehand that we will be bringing our 3 month old baby.

Great way to spend Sunday lunch. The food, drinks and service were excellent.

From the minute we arrived till the minute we left, we were looked after perfectly by the staff, food and drink was also fabulous We have been fortunate to dine at some of the top restaurants in the UK, I would consider our experience on Saturday as good as any of them, 10/10 Many thanks Paul

Centrally located in Chester with multi story parking locally. Very smartly presented resaurant. Attentive staff in a relaxed atmosphere. All the courses were very well presented. The Lunch menu was resonably priced . Not the cheapest restaurant to dine at but well worth a visit if you like fine dining.

We booked a table for four on a Saturday night to celebrate my 60th birthday. We arrived on time and were immediately taken to our table. Service was great, we ordered cocktails to start which were served very quickly. Our orders were then taken and starters were with us in no time. Main courses followed in perfect time after we had finished. We then shared two deserts between us. All the food was exceptional and the service was faultless. I'd highly recommend this restaurant.

What a lovely afternoon we spent at Chef’s Table enjoying a fabulous lunch! We were greeted politely by a member of staff and shown straight to our table, where we were asked would we like to remove our coats for a more comfortable experience. The dining chairs, which were lime green, clashed a little with the otherwise contemporary surroundings-but that’s just my opinion. We were given both the a la carte and lunch menu to choose from and opted for the two course lunch-a great price at just £30. We chose the surf and turf and salmon risotto starters-both were delicious, however it was a little tricky to eat the broth on the surf and turf. We followed with the roast pork and chicken, both included crunchy roast potatoes, an hearty Yorkshire pudding and wonderful seasonal veg from the Daresbury farm. However, when we had finished our mains I did ask was the cauliflower cheese a puree on the dish, as I was a little disappointed not to find the vegetable on our plates. The waitress said there was indeed a cauliflower puree on the plate, but that we should have received a portion of cauliflower cheese on the side. She apologised immediately and went to see Chef or the manager, I’m unsure which. On her return, she apologised again and offered us both complimentary desserts. What a lovely gesture!! We thoroughly enjoyed the steamed pudding and the cheese plate, thank you. If you’re looking for a special place to dine, then this restaurant serves beautifully presented food in a calm, contemporary environment-book, you won’t be disappointed!!!

My family and I went to chefs table for my birthday. It was an absolute treat! My teenage sons loved every minute of it and the whole experience allowed us to enjoy time together, away from phones and distractions. The service was outstanding. Sino the sommelier is a legend. Brilliant. Staff & food excellent. Only negative aspect is that Jerusalem artichokes are still the alternative offering for veggies & vegans. I had them on a previous visit & suffered, gut wise for hours afterwards so I will not eat them again. That left the risotto which whilst good was too large a portion and although an imaginative take on risotto is too similar to the offering at many pubs.

Excellent food and service, really something special.

The food is amazing but the service was appalling. We had to wait 15 minutes for our reserved table it was then a further 15 minutes until we could catch a waiters eye to order some drinks. 30 minutes without even being asked if we wanted a drink. We then had to ask for a menu too. It is bright lighting and noisey atmosphere, the waiters were rushing around between tables and bumping into each other creating quite a chaotic feel and not very relaxing. For the price of the food I’d expect better service.

Pro’s Food was excellent & everything looked and tasted great. Smellier was awesome, really helped find perfect wine. Con’s The restaurant was very bright and open.. the atmosphere didn’t match the food. There was no music. Although fine dining the scallop dish was expensive for one scallop.. I’d recommend the ‘for the table’ over the starters as much better value

Absolutely fabulous food & wine as always. It was extremely busy & service was a bit haphazard at times. Had to wait a long time for someone to take our orders. I think to make front of house a bit more slick, they need a Maitre D as a guide to staff. This is definitely the best restaurant in Chester for quality & innovation.

To celebrate our 35th Anniversary, this was our first experience at The Chef’s Table. Amazing food and refreshingly nice selection of wines. Service by the two gentlemen on the night was great. Attentive and making sure we are happy, but at the same time leaving us to enjoy our special evening. Highly recommended to anybody leaving or visiting Chester as probably it is the best dinning experience that you can have at the moment.

Food perfectly executed m, well thought out, wine pairing was unusual but really good and well delivered. Our waiter was super professional and fun at the same time, will defo recommend to others and hopefully come back when I can afford it.

We had a delicious meal here. The best I've had in a long time. The Sommelier was knowledgeable about the wines. The servers were knowledgeable about the menu. The food was served piping hot which often doesn't happen. It was 5 star. Not mega portions but enough and unfortunately we couldn't fit in a dessert.

After being recommended here with high expectations we were very underwhelmed. The service from the outset was poor. We had to wait 15 minutes to even be offered a drink or water and then it was a 50 minute delay to be seated at our table. The service didn’t improve with the exception of the wine waiter who was the the only member to pay any attention. The food was average, sadly masked by lots of sauces that overpowered the dishes. The ambience was lacking, the lighting was too bright and felt quite soul less. The wine pairings were lovely.

Booked the Chefs Table after a recommendation ,could not been more delighted with our evening . Can not fault any part of our celebratory evening dining here . Food was fabulous as was the service, Highley recommend this restaurant to visit in Chester .

Another fantastic seasonal meal at Chefs table. The Salmon starter with risotto was amazing. The chocolate fondant was soft and delicious. Cant wait to go again.

This is my the sixth time I have been to Chef’s Table and I cannot recommend it enough. Food was amazing, delicious, so different and the gusto’s so special. This restaurant never makes you disappointed. Service is flawless. Atmosphere is elegant and warm. I believe it is the best restaurant for special occasions in Chester and yes it is pricey but worth every penny.

Original blend of flavours and very tasty. Pleasant service Piped music is slightly too loud for our taste.

Food was ok. Beef starter was small considering the extra charge. Wine was not very nice and contributed to overall lack of pizzazz we got from the meal. We have been to chefs table several times for the lunch menu, which have been awesome. However this time we were not blown away.

Overnight stop in Chester and what a treat to dine at The Chef’s Table. The tasting menu was creatively conceived and expertly executed; wine pairing perfected this flavor extravaganza as the service team brought kitchen to table. This was simply dining pleasure from beginning to end!

Superb food and excellent service. Pricey but worth it. Would come again.

It’s was our first visit to the enlarged Chef’s Table at its new venue. In the past we have Ben several times to there smaller more intimate restaurant elsewhere in Chester which we loved. The new venue is bigger, brighter and as you would expect much less intimate. Personally I thought the new presentation was ok but not exceptional. The service, menu and meal though were as good if not better. The food retains its originality, imagination and quality. Really enjoyed it. All of it comes at a premium and I think that premium has actually increased in relation to other better restaurants in Chester. Something they need to be careful about going forward. Not a place to go on a budget.

Went today for Sunday lunch. Fabulous. DH and I ate the same, Persian salad and herb roast chicken. Salad was abs lovely, labaneh, seeds, tomatoes, lentils etc. Perhaps I'm not selling it but it was truly lovely (and healthy). Main course was chicken breast. Moist and tasty. Had extra portion roast veggies, all lovely. DH had steamed pudding, he said it was brill, I had an espressotini, fab. Deffo on the 'go again' list. Get what you pay for. xx

It was good, but not as good as three weeks ago. Where the last time we were given bread and butter this time no bread and butter. We ordered two drinks to start a cremant and glass of white wine, which was warm. it was replaced. We wanted to order water but they did not have any only tap water, I suggested to my wife I should go to Tesco opposite to get some but she would not let me. I had the grouse starter which I have had 3 times before, this time it was very small, luke warm and disappointing, my wife starter was very good, surf and turf of scallops and pork. my roast beef was over cooked and was replaced with a small slice of pink beef, the vegetables on the plate were luke warm. My wife enjoyed her pork belly very much. we had to ask for our wine to be served, on our last visit the wine service was spot on, I would have had a glass of red as I did previously but there was no one to ask. We had desserts but they were nothing special, trying to be clever with a creme brulee with too much burnt sugar and a sponge dessert that seemed to be raw and dense. But we are not dessert lovers anyway. My point is that three weeks ago I left having a fabulous Sunday lunch but today I left disappointed and spent the same amount of money £180. I believe that a good restaurant should be consistent, either bad or good. I normally don't do a review, but you did ask. Sorry to be so negative. I am sure will be return but not with such high expectations as today. Which was because of the excellent meal three weeks ago

First time dining experience for a family celebration and would definitely recommend! The food was absolutely delicious, everyone at our table was blown away by the exquisite presentation, taste and wine parings. The only small gripe we had was that on arrival we waited 10mins to be seated and a further 30mins for drinks to arrive. Nonetheless we had a fabulous time.

As always our lunch was a great experience. The food in this restaurant was amazing. Packed full of flavour, seasonal, local and presented immaculately. Fine dining at a great price.

Excellent value for money . Its great they doing taster menu , which was very varied . Chef was extremely accommodating for my requests . Service was excellent . if any criticism and partly our fault for not asking is during wine flight it’s nice too have bottles brought too the table so we can look at label .. Second visit for us. Great food ,great service and an all together enjoyable experience. A slight negative, the background music is to loud. My 86 year old mother struggled to hear the conversation...but...she had the best risotto she has ever had, and she has had a lot. Good job team 👏 👍

I booked this restaurant for my mums 70th where I had organised a meal on a Sunday afternoon for 28 people. I booked the table via email which was effortless. I had to pay a deposit per head and menus were sent a week ahead of time for pre orders. I added last minute guests without issue. The waiting staff were organised, polite and the efficient. The food was excellent, well above the standard of a pub lunch (not that this is a pub) and the prices for the food were good value. I brought our own cake which the chefs cut up. I want to thank Chefs Kitchen for a memorable day and making my mum so happy. I don’t have a bad word to say.

Food was exceptional. Good quality produce. Great service. Downside, it was quite expensive for small portions. Noise level was quite elevated, found it difficult to have a conversation.
