Fantastic hotel. The staff work so hard, they are extremely under staffed (people don’t want to work, I know this first hand) every single member of staff looked tired but made us feel so welcome and always smiled. We come here regularly, we got married here. It’s our favourite hotel in the world! The food is exceptional, drinks aren’t overly expensive the decor is amazing. Beds are stunning! Whats not to love? The people that are moaning have probably never worked in hospitality or retail. It’s a hard trade, one in which people Are always looking to moan for some kind of freebie! I’m a miserable hard to please person. This place is FANTASTIC!! Book asap. Don’t be narrow minded and non sympathetic. We live in times where people Dont want to work!! Special shout out to Rebecca. Wedding coordinator. Phenomenal woman!

Not really sure Oddfellows knows what it wants to be: a boutique hotel or a bar/venue. It feels like the latter. No parking but a good location for exploring Chester. No dedicated check-in - this is shared with the bar, which is usually busy with non resident guests. Our room on the top floor of the old building was so so so dark we could hardly see. Those who wear makeup beware - you can hardly see your face, no exaggeration! The toilet was in a cupboard, sloping ceiling - if you're 6ft or over and a man, good luck! Our TV didn't work but was finally fixed on day 2 of our stay - the maintenance man was wonderful (& works very hard). The room was warm which was a plus. Room facilities okay but missing any niceties such as no soap dish (sink was a rimless bowl so nowhere for soap was annoying). Ditto nowhere for your toothbrush. Kettle & cups but no saucers. Our fridge was screwed shut. We felt like students (sadly we're much much older!).

Travelled for business to Chester. I was highly welcomed up in arrival. The restaurant wasn't open, however, but the host highly recommended the Thai restaurant a few metres away from the hotel and it did not disappoint! They even accommodated when I brought my food back to the hotel and gave me cutlery so that I had my takeaway meal in the restaurant area, rather than taking it to my room (which was allowed, but meant my room wouldn't smell of Thai all evening!). Wifi was also available for free using their password. Kudos to the host - seemed he was the only person working from evening until morning, as I didn't see any other staff. Hotel and bar and restaurant are separate, which means it quiet on an evening. You need to go through the Secret Garden to the hotel.

Used to love going to this bar for drinks but the service is awful! We went to the bar to order drinks and there were people in front of us who had been waiting 25 minutes to get served! The bar wasn't even that busy but they had no staff on, one kid who took 15 mins to make two cocktails... One of the other customers asked if there were any staff serving and he was told "you will just need to wait" by the receptionist! Eventually we walked out after 15 mins of not being served. Such a shame, a lovely hotel run by complete amateurs on minimum wage

Disappointed would be an understatement. Me and my partner had a stay bought for us by his parents as a Christmas gift. Given how much his parents had paid for this gift I would have expected a whole different experience. To begin with we had to ask at the bar to be checked in which is fair enough not all hotel/ bar/ resteraunts have a check in stand. We gave our name to one of the staff and was shocked that we hadn't been asked for IDs to verify ourselves. We were given a set of keys and told to walk through the garden and find the set of doors to fob ourselves in and told "it's very easy to figure out". We wernt told what floor we would be on, wifi passwords or any form of hotel procedures. But again thought this might be how they run things. When we eventually found our room... it was very basic, something I would expect from a premier Inn, not at all what I'd expect £160 to get us. The coffee machine emited a fowl odor when we used it, there was only 2 pods for the machine and no milk. The complimentary wash kit (advertised on the website from The white company) was not a brand I'd heard of and smelt like burnt plastic. Mold on the shower trim, just all round not very nice. But we've stayed in worse conditions. Once we returned back to the bar area downstairs to have a drink before going out for a meal (also never given a complimentary drink as written to be standard when booking the room, however the bar staff that served us were very nice and polite) we sat in the hotel garden and watched as another member of staff walked a couple checking in to the fob door and go step by step through the hotel procedures. Which shocked us as we didn't get that small bit of interaction and clearly showed how little they thought of "gift paid" guests. I would also like to note that the place wasn't busy throughout all of this as I would understand if it was busy and staffing was light. The next morning as we made our way downstairs there was no signage indicating where breakfast was to be served and honestly given the reviews we were happy to forgo the breakfast. We handed our keys to the member of staff behind the bar and asked to check out. There was no goodbye greating, no 'hope you enjoyed your stay'. Again I'd like to say if this was a £90 a night hotel stay I wouldn't have battered an eyelid but £160 for this level of quality was not great. A few small interactions between staff and guests would have likely changed our whole view on the experience. There's evidently more training needed for those handling the hotel guests and looking at some of the other 1 star reviews it seems anyone paying through "gifts & vouchers" are treated like dirt.

Lovely location. However, if you decide to choose this place with Virgin media, you will be treated like a sub-par guest. I went here with my partner back in June. Firstly, they wish for you to pay a 50-pound down-payment. Which we respectfully declined. I was woefully disappointed with the quality of our room. The description that had been given never met the standards of the offer we were given and so instead of a lavish room with waterfall showers and fascinatingly wonderful decor, we were treated to a room akin to a premier Inn. They had a mini fridge and a draw of confectionery that was not free so if you decided to eat this confectionery without thinking you would need to pay to replenish consumables, this is very predatory in that the confectionery is there to take, but not without the penalty of payement. The prices for these items were incredibly stupid, and you would be better off going to the shops and buying chocolate and drinks there instead (which we did). Eventually, after talking to a few staff members, I managed to charm the information out of them, and that to put it bluntly, "Virgin media voucher holders are not required to have a nicer room." Be aware they may not even give you a nice room if you get to stay here as one of their customers. The breakfast was decent but again I could not wash away the bad taste in my mouth that was the fact I had been promised a decent room on the brochure but then given something that makes my bedroom look like a five star hotel room. All in all, if you wish to stay here, be aware they have good rooms and bad rooms, and if you have a virgin media holiday experience voucher, they very well may put you in a sub par room, because you're nothing more than a quick bit of extra cash to them. I hope this helps those who wish to stay here all the best from me and happy, safe travels 😊

Fantastic location right in the heart of Chester. Close to all the pubs and clubs for night owls, and walking distance to shops for the day time strollers. 2 mins walk from the famously haunted kings head, well worth a look. As for the hotel, it's deceptively massive. It goes on and on and is a warren of stylised sophistication. The eclectic charm of this place has to be seen and appreciated. It's a popular location for people on a night out at weekend, function room hires and weddings... The room itself overlooked the main courtyard and while it was pretty noisy, the noise dropped off at a reasonable hour and a great night sleep was had. The room was presentable. Quirky. We liked it and would stay again. Great selection of breakfast too. Staff where fantastic and friendly. An all round good trip. Only 1 issue. Parking. There is no parking near the place, closest is a 5 min walk to a multistory which the hotel get you a 60% voucher when you get there, but unfortunately, we couldn't use it as the car park was beyond capacity. We ended up staying in the shopping centre car park, which h for 24hr cost us a tenner, I thought it was a good price. We'd go again 😎

Loved this place! Great restaurant (Italian) across the street. Lobby bar is wonderful, service is great, rooms are quirky and fun. Our room had a round bed. Kinda, "what?" But the room layout worked with it and the two nights we spent were very peaceful. Will request that room again! UPDATE. We came back. We didn't get the room. This was our second stay at the property, as we had been there 8 months prior. The last room was a bit "odd", but it worked fine. This time, the entire property was a COMPLETE letdown. First, let me explain who I am as a traveler. I'm 63 years old, and I've stayed at lots of properties around the world, and expect at least a minimum level of service and value. This means to me -- help with bags, a clean room with working facilities, and some ease of access to my room. The previous room I had was just about at the minimum level, and I booked the hotel a few months in advance, expecting this because of the proximity to shopping and restaurants in Chester. I requested the same room, but it was already booke and I was assured that I would get an upgrade. Please understand that when you get to the hotel, you have to park a few blocks away. They give you a voucher that really discounts the price of parking, but it's a 5 minute walk. Also, please realize that the reception desk is one floor up from the street, and it is ONLY accessible via a wide, steep set of stairs. Since we are traveling for nearly two weeks, we had big bags. We were met at reception by a businesslike red-headed staff that we could barely hear because they have a DJ in the bar on Friday nights. We were offered ZERO help with our bags, and saw that the floor staff was more engaged with the raucous crowd (racing weekend) in the bar than helping us with our bags. Now it gets real. The room they gave us had an a toilet behind what can only be described as an outhouse door, with a heavily sloping ceiling that guaranteed a concussion if you got up too fast or to close to the cistern. It was ALSO poorly lit and the fan didn't work, even when we asked for more light and a fixed fan. There are TWO bathtubs side by side and a glassed in shower on a pedestal, with dim lights. It takes up about half the total space of the room. I didn't expect such a "video-ready" rooom... The vanity mirror lights were broken, and with the dim lighting, my wife was forced to use the full-length mirror next to the bed(!). There is no place to set open suitcases, and the bed is oddly placed due to the sloped ceiling. The closets had the same doors as the toilet, but had more room. Oh did I mention that the TV was tuned to Adult channels? I seriously can't make this up! If you're into hauling heavy bags up several flights of stairs, an unengaged staff and a room that really shows a lack of design and upkeep, by all means jump in. Quirky is kinda fun. Quirky with limited service and slipshod upkeep is certainly not and definitely not worth the money. My expectations of another great stay were absolutely destroyed by this visit and we're writing this hotel off forever.

Stunning venue for our wedding and Rebecca and team went above and beyond to make the experience magical! We stayed over the night before and the rooms were gorgeous, a great place to get ready in! Everything was so well organised. The bar and waiting staff were exceptional and the food far exceeded our expectations. Our dog was even allowed into the ceremony room for a short while to be our ring bearer and have some picture! The day was truly wonderful and we can’t thank everyone at Oddfellows enough! Great location, in the heart of Dorking. The receptionist was friendly, the room was great, generous tasty treats and drinks and it was all very welcoming. The beds were comfortable with quality bedding. There was a note detailing what bedding it was which was a nice touch. Lots of thoughtful details for a comfortable stay. It's a shame we only stayed one night! Note: the parking isn't very large and I believe it is for patrons of the pub/restaurants as well, so it was full when we arrived late in the evening. We parked on the street in front of the hotel until 9:00 as parking restrictions start in the morning (max 1 hour from 8:00).

We arrived on Sunday the 16th of June 2024, we were greeted with a smile and polite receptionist Ell ,who explained about hotel and 50 pound deposit etc ,she was very helpful, helped us with any questions and answered clearly. We have lovely clean and spacious room (lovely touch regarding electronic blind in loft area). So what can we say about Oddfellows, it is querky but it suits it . Friendly and makes u feel safe .Staff are friendly, helpful and polite. Drinks and food are good ,staff Bradley and Keira especially were great a credit to the establishment, we interacted with friendly conversation. We are bit sad to come home after a 2 nights stay, so we have booked to stay again next week with my mother in law , we have picked a room on the ground floor areas. It is a great location because 5 minute walk to river Dee where we have been on river cruise boat lady Diane and paid extra for the tour bus (24 hours pass to hop on and off at any time) which is a must to do. Plenty of nice shops in the historical city. We came without car so we can explore surroundings. We liked the calm and friendly atmosphere. So here we go next week but me and my wife enjoyed this stay greatly. Thank you again Oddfellows staff who we interacted with on this trip. Xx

Poor - Afternoon Tea Birthday Treat out, wasn’t impressed from start to finish. -arrival, they didn’t know which table to put us on even though there was only 1 other couple in the restaurant. -got asked what we wanted a drink, but wasn’t given any menus to look at what we wanted. - 2 adults, 1 child. £24 per head, £9.50 per child. ( adults and child’s set were exactly the same! May aswell ask for 3 child platters! ) -wasn’t given any plates to have our platter on. -Wasn’t told what was on the sandwiches when bought out. -Sandwiches seemed dry and little stale. -Scones we’re meant to be freshly made, however they clearly wasn’t. Just crumbled and fell apart. - wasn’t asked at all if we were enjoying our time. - wasn’t asked if we wanted any top up of Tea. - when asked for a glass of water, the waitress split some water on my phone whilst pouring water into my glass. -didn’t seem to be any staff about, to ask for things. -ended up packing up and walking out disappointed. Plenty more places and better experiences elsewhere in Chester.

Great Food but sadly very poor service from start to finish. We arrived with a table for 4 booked for Sunday Dinner. On arriving we were placed on a tall table in the bar area. This table would be ok for drinks but not eating a Sunday dinner as the table was high and the seating low. After 10 minutes we unfortunately still had no menus and we had to get up and find a member of staff for menus, we also asked if possible to be moved to a better table. A new table was found for us with no issues. We then sat waiting another 25 minutes still with no menus or having been approached by any member of staff. Again one of our party had to get up and ask for menus and order drinks. This did then happen quickly, orders were taken and food arrived promptly. We did have to ask 3 times for tap water with our drinks but it did arrive eventually. Both starter and main where perfectly cooked. Once we had finished our mains, again we waited with empty plates and no one coming over to clear the table or ask if we would like deserts. we then decided after 20 minutes to leave the table and the empty plates and finish our drinks outside. Sadly a very unremarkable visit. Staff when we had there attention were polite and engaging but with no direction or leadership. The need for us, the customer to constantly ask for there attention spoilt what should have been a lovely family meal. Compliments to the Kitchen team as the food we had was lovely, and although the staff were polite, without proper training and a key figure in charge of the floor the customer experience was as I said very poor. Great shame as a lovely venue.

Be wary if you are thinking about Oddfellows for large parties or events. Very poor communication via email to arrange events leaving myself unclear about the cost of the evening, and then overuse of ‘smiley emojis’ when responding to concerns in an attempt to resolve matters. This same party organiser on the evening was very cold and when asked, would not deliver us our dishes for the 2 party members who weren’t able to attend due to illness. Shame as the food was lovely and private room was presented well which is why we asked for the dishes to be brought out that would have been for our 2 absent party members. Their costly minimum spend price I thought would have warranted that!

Great location for sightseeing. Overall, hotel good but a few areas could be improved upon. Service: poor at breakfast with young waitress who didn't seem to have a clue. The waitress at dinner was clumsy on a couple of occasions. Her appearance/dress looked like she'd just chucked on a dirty jumper and jeans!! The room was comfortable and clean but has a glass (opaqued in the middle section) partition to the shower & loo. As liberal as we are there's some aspects of our bathroom habits which we like to keep private. So a glass screen is not very pleasing! We like music, but having a pre-dinner drink in the bar was disappointing as the music was so loud we couldn't chat. Overall, the place is nice, such a shame about staffing/music issues which with a bit of training and consideration could be sorted.

Nice room but the bathroom around is very tight! 2 people getting ready at the same time could be an issue. A few stains on the carpets hence not giving 5 stars but all in all we were happy with the room. We had a few drinks in the garden terrace area, which was nice. Could have done with a little background music as the atmosphere was quite dull without. Breakfast was included and could not be faulted , small continental buffet and choice of cooked options. Again , the breakfast room was super quiet making you feel awkward if you spoke as everyone else could hear. Stayed in Lady Mary's Loft on 23rd Dec with my partner. Previously stayed in a different room last year on 23rd Dec at the Oddfellows and had enjoyed it so decided to return. The main reason for booking this room was the price and the two baths. I've never stayed anywhere with two baths before. Oddfellows is also in a great location central to Chester and easy walking distance to local bars and restaurants. There is a small mini bar in the room and Nespresso machine. The WiFi in the room was great, and we were able to connect our own fire stick. The room was noisy until the music downstairs was turned off at 11 p.m., but this did not bother us. It was xmas! When we previously stayed, we had no noise problems, but the room was located in an annexe behind the hotel. Lady Marys loft is located at the top of the hotel and accessed by two flights of stairs, no lift. We were awoken the next day at 0745 by the music, but this was just an oversight by a staff member who had switched it on without realising it was at Friday night volumes. The boiler broke on the morning of our stay, and this problem was swiftly dealt with by Diane on reception. She sorted it out and called us to advise it had been done. Great customer service. We mentioned our early morning music alarm, and she was very apologetic. Really love this hotel, and staff are excellent. There are lots of different rooms, and we loved our unique stay in Lady Marys Loft. The shower is fabulous, the bed was really comfortable and the two baths are a lovely feature. We started off our Christmas break in style and would definitely return in the future.

Great hotel and great staff. Hotel is clean and well presented, rooms are also clean, well designed and have a good level of features. We stayed in the 2 level room which was well equipped and the bed and bath were brilliant aswell as having the 2 TVs, 1 in the bedroom upstairs and 1 in the lounge area. Bar and outside seating is excellent, with heating on the cooler nights. Just a brilliant hotel in a great location that I would recommend for those staying in Chester for a few days.

Had our wedding here recently and the staff literally could not have been more fantastic. Rebecca the events planner and the Jay the bar manager (I think) were absolutely fantastic and honestly some of the best staff I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. Will absolutely recommend this venue to anyone who asks.

Staff and service very good but unfortunately let down by a below par afternoon tea. The tea itself is teabagged rather than loose, the sandwiches on poor quality bread and a bit dry, the scones ok but also seemed a bit past their best. Overall, for the price, not great. The restaurant itself also not as grand as the foyer.

Two glasses of Malbec and a Prosecco £27: unbelievable.Yes the service is attentive and I would have stayed longer and drank more had the drink not have been so expensive.I appreciate its national Malbec week and perhaps Oddfellows are celebrating by charging extortionate prices. I'm unsure in hindsight whether I ought to have framed the drink or should I have retained the glass.

Booked Oddfellows 3 weeks in advance of M Day requesting a table for 4, 2 of whom would be children. I made the point of asking if they would have a children's menu on the day; the answer was yes. A few days later I received a call from them confirming my booking so I took the opportunity to ask again about the children's menu - once again, no problem. For some reason I received another call confirming that I would be turning up (no other restaurant I have EVER visited has been so neurotic about a booking), the chance was there so I took it..."there will be a kids menu, won't there?" "Yes, sir, there will."You've guessed it already - no children's menu on the day. On arrival we were seated away from the main restaurant, hidden behind a gloomy curtain and in front of a draughty door. We ordered drinks with one staff member which were delivered by another. The meal order was taken by yet another employee and delivered by a completely different one again. Because of the lack of said children's menu one of the youngsters had to put up with a bread and butter starter whilst the other adventurously tried the chicken liver pate but left most of it. The mains were a disaster for the kids because they were all too rich and just 'too adult' for them. The set menu price was over £30 per head and they had the temerity to charge full price for the kids. Service was slow, ambience was non-existent and the whole experience left a bitter taste in my mouth. Normally I would have made have complained, but as it was Mothers Day the occasion felt inappropriate. I'll get my revenge in the the only way that I can, by ensuring that I never visit again.

I was optimistic when we arrived at Oddfellows as it is a nice place with a pleasant vibe. I was really quite disappointed with the food though which was a shame as it was a treat for my birthday. I had ordered the fish & chips which was a rather steep £12. The batter was very tasty if a little soggy, but the chips were hard in the middle which just totally ruined it for me. My friend seemed to enjoy his food though. (£10 burger)I also thought the menu choice we were given was extremely limited. A choice of 3 mains or 5 'light bites' or traditional afternoon tea at £17.50 was all that seemed to be on offer.I won't be going back in a hurry - there are so many places to eat in Chester that offer (in my opinion) better food at lower prices.

Great place with lots of different rooms and outdoor courtyard space with patio heaters in little booths. Great cocktails. Only downside was that we asked for afternoon cakes. The coffee cake was the size of a 50pence piece and cost a few quid !!! Think they need to rethink size portions.

My original review was sensored by trip advisor so here goes again so now I offer a subjective opinion Terrible service which is dictated by how you look and if you have a baby.Being with a baby does not fit into the WAG lifestyle that those working there aspire to.Be wary and know your food as if your not a WAG or a good-looking female you won't be told what you are having. If you are from the Cheshire set then you can have corny stories which are chringe worthy. Going in with a baby; forget it as for some reason this allows you to be seen as the lower class. My rating says it all considering the sensorship I have been put under with this review.Lewis Carroll wrote a fiction book called Alice in Wonderland in 1865 (they have a tea room based on this at the venue ) FACT- we are in the 21st century where we should all be treated equally People who have babies can eat out and pay just like pretensions women and deserve to be treated equally.TAKE NOTE

Booked a table for 13th Feb. Option of Valentines menu or A la Carte on the website. Great! I thought, as I don't enjoy dining in places with occasion menus and was happy to go with the latter. Arrived on time, told table wasn't available, so we waited at the bar. No offer to take our coats. 20 minutes later, my boyfriend had to remind staff we were there. Still no table, then all of a sudden, shown to a table outside of the restaurant, closer to the bar. On one side, bar music blasting and on the other, a cold walkway where bar-goers were walking through. Asked for a different table, waited again for 10 minutes (our mistake, we should have walked out there and then) then shown to a table with no apology or welcome. Handed the Valentine's menu. Asked for A la Carte as that's what we specified, I wouldn't have booked otherwise. Told only Valentine's menu was the only available menu and that all customers had been contacted (funnily enough, I seem to have been missed out on all those phonecalls...) The waiter then had the audacity to say that 'This is quite a lively restaurant' What on Earth does that have to do with it? I've eaten at restaurants all over the world, thank you very much, try an apology before patronising your customers. We walked out, bought a bottle of wine at the lovely French restaurant up the road and ordered take out. I live about 20m away from Oddfellows and have taken friends there for drinks before but never again. Offers a shiny experience for first-timers, but if you're local, avoid like the plague, they have no interest in taking care of customers who want a regular spot.

'The food doesn't really match the initial impression and ambience of the restaurant'!! We dined here on a Monday night with just one other table...Our dining experience started well in a quirky and chic looking ambience. After ordering a very fine Argentinian Tonles Malbec (£29.50 - both tables were drinking this!) our evening had started perfectly...BUT...once the food arrived we were, on the whole, a bit disappointed.Firstly, the bread appetiser tasted dry and stale...Secondly, the 'tiny' pig cheek (£10) which I selected for my starter had no flavour and was quite cold and tough - Michelin star presentation but a two star Trip Advisor taste (Also it was the size of a lime leaf - Babe springs to mind!)Thirdly, our daughters (child's menu) fish and chunky chips looked as though they both had been deep fried in very old cooking oil as it appeared a dark brown colour which just didn't look or taste right. Oil should be changed regularly - at least twice a week in a restaurant. We hoped for an improvement!...45 minutes later our main course arrived. Just to remind everyone who reads this... 'We dined here on a Monday night with just one other table.'My wife's hake fillet was 'very fresh and had a nice taste' (£18) and my medium rare fillet steak (£27) was 'OK' but compared to other fillets I've had in the past (at this £) it was rather small in comparison. Accompanied with a rather limp looking tomato and flat mushroom (sadly though the type you'd get in a high street fry up!) Oh and of course, I nearly forgot, the infamous brown oily chips!! The side order of peppercorn sauce however was tasty and made my meal more flavoursome.Dessert was a hit! - the Honeycomb sweet dish had a lot of thought into the presentation and taste. Overall though an expensive meal for the standard of food (£120 and then my 10% tip) for the three of us. Maybe as it was a quiet Monday night and the fact there was a function on in another part of the hotel it made a difference to the quality and time scale of the food we received. I'd certainly concentrate on the food and service of a restaurant first though before making it look nice.Ps:- Funky cocktail bar though with helpful bartenders.

I booked my partner and I into this restaurant for Valentine's Day. When booking I could choose between the a La Carte or special Valentine's fixed menu. I chose a La Carte at we would be arriving late and I didn't know what state our hunger would be in.Sadly when I arrived I was informed that despite booking there was no table available and we were deposited on a table at an outside area. It was freezing (February). The hits kept on coming as we were informed that we had to have the Valentine's menu as a La Carte was not available. I showed them my booking but they didn't care. After complaining twice they agreed to let us order individual items from the set menu and charge us accordingly. This seemed ok to me. I ordered beef and my partner cauliflower. I wanted the beef Medium but apparently that wasn't allowed - only "Pink" or "Well Done" was acceptable. The beef came without any veg or other accompaniment and was cold. The cauliflower at least had potatoes with it but was amazingly salty. We decided to cut our losses and leave only to get the bill and find that "individually priced" items meant they charged me £30 for my cold, pink beef served on its own.My partner left crying and I grimly paid the piper never to return.Diabolical.

Superb cooking and charming service in a relaxed atmosphere. Great idea to suggest wine pairings on the menu which encouraged us to try something different without having to ask.The friendly, smartly suited gentleman, who appears to be the maitre'd, seems to ensure everything runs smoothly and engages with the diners, he made our evening extra special without being intrusive.Minus one mark for limited vegetarian choice which I had mentioned on booking but it didn't spoil our evening.

Pleasant dining room facing out onto a terrace/garden area. Interesting menu with enough choice to suit most people. Dishes were nicely presented and food quality was above average, in particular I loved the venison. We also had a number of wines (by the glass) which were specially paired with our menu options and we were pleasantly surprised by price & quality. Very friendly personable waitress. This is not a top end fine dining restaurant - more like a relaxed bistro - but it's quality is up there with the best in Chester. We went on a Thursday evening when it was quiet so did not experience the weekend crowds. Enjoyed the evening and would certainly go again.

Not bad for a Sunday roast, not the standard we have at home. Roast potatoes not the best, Yorkshire pudding tastes good but a bit chewy, the lamb was nice, mixed seasonal veg ok , but put on plate like scraping leftovers. Over charged for a pint and large glass of wine that we didn’t have. Final bill after query still over charged for one large glass of red wine, which husband hadn’t realised until we got home. This is the second time this has happened to us in this pub! Shame because I really like it in there and it’s close to home.

As a coeliac it is hard finding places I trust with my food. The Spinner & Bergamot is a delight, they take my auto immune condition seriously and the food is always 5 star. The pub has a real countryside vibe, with a fine dining area at the back. There is great outdoor space for the kids to play, and the staff are always very welcoming.
