This is not the jolly roger fault food was cold had to warm up in my air fryer soggy chips fish had no batter on due to long delivery urban eats have to many stops before you get you food for bad service I gave a tip of 1.40 what a joke this is why I don't order very often

Called in today for 10 meals for my colleagues, the order was spot on and the food was delicious, good portion sizes left us all stuffed but very happy!

Worst meal ever from there last night..chips soggy and undercooked fish was swimming in grease but the fish inside was dry..peas..curry and sausage was all cold and the pasty looked undercooked and soggy..usually never have a problem x

Chips very, very greasy. Cash only, which is a pain. Far better alternatives in the local area.

Normally great gluten free service, tonight however, totally not a great service. Ordered Gluten free sausage and large chips, paid for it. Saw it come out of the fryer and directly into a box, placed down for someone to wrap, where it stayed, whilst the person was on the till. Left open to go cold for a while, no salt or vinegar, ok no big deal. When finally wrapped in one sheet of paper and handed over it felt light, not like a large chips but again ok, leave it as it’s the only gluten free chippy around. By the time I get home, 9 miles away and finally get into the house, I find the single paper wrapping dripping with oil, that’s leaked out of the tray that came directly out of the fryer. Go to check my car and find oil sunk into the seat, a pool of oil in the back of the seat, luckily leather seats, so not soaked through! Tonight’s service was not what I have had before, however now will think again about whether or not to use this place again.

The joint is well presented and always busy but for me the chips are always well undercooked. They are pale and soggy. I cant give 3 stars as their chips lets them down and its all I would buy. The last time I wanted chips. I chose to pay almost double the price (when you consider the quantity) to buy chips from the Chinese taleaway next door...

Worst food I've ever had. Chips are soggy and kebab is falling apart.. the young lady serving is rude and miserable but I guess that's what happens when you don't pay attention in school. AVOID!!

We’ve been here a few times since moving to the area, but having recently been diagnosed coeliac, I felt obligated to post this review. The staff go above and beyond. The ability to preorder everything means I can just walk in and collect. The GF stuff is prepared and cooked completely separately and handed over in a labelled separate bag. The GF fish is absolutely divine - the batter is so good you’d believe it was the standard batter.

Ordered and collected from here numerous times over the past few years with no issues ever. Tonight we got a delivery of cold greasy food. Never seen anything like it, quite literally dripping in oil and although the fish was as always an excellent size, the sausage was child sized despite us ordering regular, don’t think we’ll be returning.

Usually, I have fish, chips & curry sauce from here and it's good, but tonight, I decided to have sausage, chips, peas and gravy and it was awful. Some of my chips were very undercooked, the peas were like bullets in water and the gravy was thin and tasteless. The sausages didn't deserve to be called sausages. They were clearly a very cheap make - tasteless and rubbery with little pieces of bone in them. Never again.

Every time we go here the size of the chip portions are inconsistent. Last time we got food from here the teenager in front of us in the queue ordered large chips. His one portion was probably bigger than our 3 large portions put together! Tonight we ordered 3 large chips again. One was absolutely massive and came in a box. The other 2 came wrapped in paper. One was medium size. And the third one was tiny, like a child’s portion.

Popped in on a Saturday afternoon, the food we had was great, but atmosphere was very uncomfortable when one member of staff said to the other loudly 'I hate when they all start popping like this, it will be like this until teatime' in reference to the fact there was myself and 2 other lone customers.

Ordered fish bite dinner on Uber eats, the food that arrived was either reheated or overcooked the fish bites were very dry and rubbery texture batter was solid so i think reheated. The chips arrived in polystyrene box but when put on the plate inside the mound of chips was a piece of white paper measuring approx 2.5" x 1.5" i feel they must have been wrapped first then returned to the storage basket. A total disaster meal was put in the bin

Our local "Chippy". It does all the stuff you would expect and has a good range of Kebabs. Staff are always friendly even when it's really busy (sometimes queuing outside of shop at busy times). Food tastes really good.

Lovely food always and vfm...<<<this was written afew months ago...sadly I had cod and chips last week...the chips were quite dry but edible,whilst the fish,oh my days was so very greasy and with soggy batter with the slimey going on underneath. The thickness of the cod was aliken to plaice,very thin,I am wondering if the cod is now being halved? Sorry JR but on this occasion,maybe it was a bad day,but not acceptable imho. I will try lunch again once more soon but if its the same, I will be taking my years of custom elsewhere 😞

This has to be the worst chippy I've every eaten. Ordered sausage and chips & fish and chips. It was so greasy. The chips and fish were soggy with grease. My partner and I had stomach issues the night after eating and also the next day. After removing the chips from the packaging I could still pour grease out of the tray. I've never had such bad stomach issue after eating at a chippy. This I down to the vast amount of grease in the chips and fish. With all this they still managed to get the order wrong and didn't included our sauces. I feel sick just from the memory of it.

Just got to my end of my battered sausage to see a hair was also battered with it. Absolutely disgusting put me off all the rest of the food. Will never be ordering from here again.

The food is really nice the service is generally fast and they do lunchtime meals at a very good price. The staff ate really friendly as well.

It’s a marginal two stars from us! The only positive is the service. Although the staff are helpful, their hair is not kept in place and doesn’t have a feeling of cleanliness. One chap sneezed with two portions of chips in his hand. Of as he sneezed he moved the chips slightly to one side but he should have disposed of them as undoubtedly the Delors from the sneeze would have traveled!! . Most unprofessional.

Every where was closed and we went on line and found Jolly Roger Fish Bar open when we tasted the food not to salty not to greasy just perfect we was so delighted and happy we enjoyed it very much thanks Jolly Roger we be back soon 😊

Ordered large chicken meat and the container was only half full. You need to look at your portion sizes for the price.

A proper chippy with all the fried foods you would expect but also caters for gluten intolerant people like my daughter. If kebabs are your jam then they have you covered too!

Waited almost 30 mins for fish staff un friendly handling foid with bare hands and with jumper over hand will never use again absolutely disgusting

We ordered via Uber eats to collect and waited a very long time and the order hadn’t been accepted so called up the restaurant for them to say they don’t use Uber any more. 🤷‍♀️Had to then order again and wait when we got to the restaurant. spent over £30 and the fish batter was very dark and burnt so was too crunchy to eat the chips were nice but the fish spoilt it especially when it’s now considered a treat as the prices have significantly increased in all chip shops.

Working out of town and you sometimes come across a little gem of a place. Went in last week and had lunch which was and enough to feed two at a reasonable price too... So couldn't finish it all. Went back today got a smaller meal which was also more than enough, decent chat off the owner and the girl's there; would recommend to give it a try and got a 5* from me too

Ordered 4 kebabs. They noted down all the sauce/salad choices for each one and then proceeded to get them wrong. Also got a large portion of chips which were rank. Both me and my son had dodgy stomachs after.

Just had small fish and chips. Fish over cooked batter like cardboard fish like rubber chips just bits and dry not there usual stander as I love to eat there fish and chips but this was just pure crap.

First time I've been physically sick from food for 30 years. Had doner meat and know it was that as I hadn't eaten all day but for some morning toast. Cooking method and storing of meat needs to be addressed as what I saw it wasn't good. Furthermore why is this place still demanding cash?..we all know the real reason and I'm sure the tax man will be paying a visit soon..

This was simply the best chippy in Northwich when I moved here with quality food at great prices. Unfortunately the quality has since dipped and is very inconsistent. Sometimes it's great and sometimes it's not.

Ordered gluten-free fish, chips and peas for myself and my granddaughter tonight. The fish was lovely - amazing crispy gluten-free batter (which I don’t often find) but the chips definitely weren’t fresh, they looked and tasted ‘old’. Disappointing.

Great traditional fish and chip shop large portions my partner and I usually get 1 portion of chops between us and a fish each they also do meal deal ie pudding or pie chips peas and gravy or curry for £5, fish are huge. They also have a side doing donor and various other kebabs well worth a visit would highly recommend.

Visiting Mother in Northwich. Had a fish chips and peas lunch from here. Lovely friendly and helpful staff. Very nice food. Would recommend.

Really lovely staff serving the best take away food in Northwich. The mixed chicken and doner kebab came with fresh bread and salad and was delicious . Bang on .

Food is a problem in this place used Uber didn't wait so long maybe 30 40 min ordered kebab's meat bad in taste and look salad look like Joe Biden price not so bad but should make you think 🤔

Wow I was so impressed by the takeaway we got from The Jolly Roger, it will definitely be our new go to place when in need of a chippy tea! I ordered fish (cod), chips & mushy peas, & it was all delicious! The batter on the fish is the best I've had, it was crispy all over & the portion of chips was HUGE! It was Friday tea time when we visited & even though it was busy our order was ready really quickly, everything was fresh & wrapped up well so it was still piping hot when we got it home! 10/10 perfection!

We had a package accidentally get delivered here and after seeing it on camera footage as well as having confirmation from several witnesses this shop refuses to give us our package. We are a small business and this kind of stuff hurts us a lot and this business does not care stealing from other small businesses. I ask everybody to please not support them

Best chippy no other words staff shot hott

I ordered special kebab, fish and chips ,and a seafood basket via website. The tikka was horrible, the meat was mushy it wasn't like tikka at all. We couldn't eat it and threw it in the bin. The fish and the seafood was overcooked and was so hard. I had kebab from there before lockdown and it was nice . But it was absolutely awful this time. Not coming back again.

My nana rung up regarding my order as I’m autistic and they hung up on her after she told them my chips weren’t cooked . I ordered two chips and cheese. The lady also shouted the arent undercooked They are and I can’t eat them I rung up and the lady again in the background said no one else has complained I usually love going here but after how they treated me and my nana I WONT be going back

Ordered with user eats waited 2 hours for a basic order and they got that wrong,could understand if it was a weekend but it was a Wednesday, I have worked in food retail and this was unacceptable really poor service and I wouldn't recommend

This used to be a fabulous fish and chip shop. But recently it has gone down hill. We usually order on line and then collect. We are getting fed up with finding that when we get home and unwrap we have the wrong order. On Saturday we ordered for 4 people and they managed to forget my son’s battered sausage and my husband’s haddock. And for some reason we had 2 lots of peas instead of 1. We had to take the whole lot back and wait for it to be redone. Annoyingly the whole point of ordering fish and chips was that we wanted something quick and easy.

Been here on and off a few years. Always found the staff a bit cocky and like they're not there to help the customers. Went back and now worse. They talk to you like they're doing you a favour even giving you time of day. They wear these black t-shirts that are covered in cr*p: batter, grease, etc. To be expected, but what's wrong with an apron (and don't say "too hot", I worked in a chippy for years during college and it was burning hot in Summer. We wore an apron and a hat! We changed apron when it got dirty, we were always clean). Girl behind counter coughed in hand and didn't stop to wash it. Guy also coughed near food. Food hygiene rating currently a 3. The chips were dry and hard - sometimes it depends on spuds - new season ones don't cook as fluffy - but they weren't nice. Doner kebab wasn't very nice, the mayo seemed watered down. The pitta wasn't really a pitta, it was like a thin flatbread so it was hard and chewy from toasting on the BBQ. Some kind of squishy red cabbage had seen better days. Another thing that hasn't changed - only ever taking cash. It's 2022!!!! Must be avoiding something (e.g.handling charges?). Not clearly shown in shop either. If you forget or don't know you have to trudge to Tesco Metro cash point. Disappointing.

Good class fish and chips etc. Takeaway. Not the cheapest but the standard of everything served is good, even if it isn't always freshly cooked as it originally was..

Had a takeaway kebab tonight as a treat first time in ages as healthy eating at the moment, had chicken tikka kebab, it was horrible meat was just a shredded mess cold and tasteless, wilted salad and anemic cold greasy chips. NEVER AGAIN !

I have just had a chippy tea and it was absolutely disgusting the chips were green I will never get food from this chippy again might of well thrown my money away it was a treat for my grandson you should be ashamed of yourself delivering uneatable food

One of the worst hygiene places in Northwich to visit. I had sausage with chips and had a hair from a staff who made it. Hygiene super poor here. Not worth a risk to visit it. It put me off because they did not check the food before serving to us. ONE OF THE WORST HYGIENE PLACES TO VISIT IN NORTHWICH

Dirty and when you order kebab it just looks like something you would dish up for you dog. Think they should leaving the kebab side to the people who can cook them the best way they leaving there's in pot to keep warm wich just dry,s out the flavour of the meat. If you want a good kebab always go to a Turkish takeaway.

My local Fish Bar, guys were great, made an order but didn't have my cash card with me, they still allowed me to put through a order with a tab to pay the following day, staff were lovely went well above and beyond, the food is always great and the fish is amazing, definitely will be coming back regularly. Thank you guys.
