The Slug and Lettuce in Cheshire West and Chester

Everytime I go in here I become very aware of a stagnant smell. So as nice this place may be I find the stench too much. I certainly couldn't eat here. Which is all a shame as the menu looked interesting. Cocktail menu looked great too. And there seems to be things going on here. But I couldn't get past the smell.

Boozy brunch have done the afternoon one a couple of years ago which was very good. Did the evening one last night which was very poor. The staff were lovely and the food was good but the drinks were poor, far less alcohol than the day time brunch.

We chose to eat here due to the mix and match options that we decided we wanted to try out. The menu was very appealing, and it was been a good few years since I visited last. The hosts were lovely, considering we visited a bit later than most diners, we were greeted with a warm welcome and found the process to order our food via the app really convenient. The signal in the restaurant isn’t super, but there is free WiFi which does the job. We were there for a good time, and as you may see, we had quite a bit of alcohol, and chose some options from the 3 for £17 menu selection. And I have to say, the chicken bao buns and halloumi bao buns were ridiculously good. They were loaded with seasonings and spices. We also had a portion of the ham croquettes, and between the two of us, it was enough to fill us up just right. We will be back, for the bao buns. Seriously, try the bao buns.

They food and service was amazing was amazing the best anyone could ask for the only thing is the music was a little loud but the cocktails was so good and we were served by Xia and she was amazing and kind deffo recommend !!

Disappointing Experience – Felt Unwelcome We visited from out of town, drawn by the aesthetic, expecting a great cocktail bar experience. We ordered whiskey sours, a drink I know very well, but what I got was a drink with mostly ice and didn’t resemble a proper one. If they didn’t make Whiskey Sours, I would’ve simply ordered something else, but when I asked about the drink they gave us the staff made me feel foolish. We also ordered a steak sandwich, which was okay, but we mainly came for drinks and left disappointed. A manager eventually offered replacements, which was appreciated, but by then, the unwelcoming attitude,bad vibes and bad service had already ruined the experience. We had planned to stay for more rounds but left after one. Not worth the visit.

Our daughter bought us a virgin experience afternoon tea voucher. As our nearest S&L had closed we decided to have a trip out to Chester. We were seated quickly and the lovely Alexander came to ask what drinks we would like (tea/coffee or fizz) and if we would like our food straight away. The afternoon tea was really nice, good selection of fillings on buns, white bread and foccacia. Plus scones with jam and cream, cheesecake, brownies and a little strawberry cream dessert. Alexander came back and asked if we'd like our second drink and chatted for a few minutes. All in all a great experience. The mildest of negatives would be that the music was a bit loud and not really appropriate for afternoon tea, but we were in a busy bar in a city centre so I guess it's too be expected and it didn't stop us enjoying ourselves.

We went for a late brunch on Monday for a birthday and everything was incredible, because it was a Monday it was quiet which is what I liked, the food was just amazing! Some of the best I've had in a while and our server Alexander was just incredible, from the start he was just so friendly and funny with us!

Fantastic service for bottomless brunch. Everyone in the party enjoyed themself. We had Alexander serving us today who was great and got us everything we needs. Every other staff we encountered was also fantastic. Is deffo one of the best bottomless in the city

We had a festive bottomless brunch here at the weekend and it was great. Sadly didn’t get the gentleman’s name who was serving us but he was awesome, really attentive and made sure we constantly had drinks 🍹

Excellent Food. Had a tasty lunch on visiting. Burger and Plant Sandwich both tasty. Well presented. Staff from ordering to delivery of food polite and friendly. Bar staff good and promptly served. On arrival our menu was soaked for some reason and was wiped without issue. Music good and atmosphere was great. So good we returned later after the Christmas Market visit. Only negative. Sticking to the bar floor.

Lunch meal deal at £8 for smaller bite plus drink was good, food was tasty but not much if you are looking for something more filling. I enjoyed the poached egg and avocado with addition of bacon and my wife had steak ciabatta with fries - both very nice. Service was friendly, efficient and reasonably quick. Toilets were average. Nice for a change so might go again but also might go elsewhere as plenty of other options.

Food was OK, music was very loud. The girls that served us were amazing, certain things during our visit were not great but they were handled everything so well that we still had an amazing time! Ellie and Aishah were fab and also the girl who lives in Sale but goes to uni in Chester who's name I didn't get! They were all so lovely and made up for the shortfalls elsewhere! Thank you x

Delicious drinks and quick service, even on a very busy night. This is our second time here and we had another good experience. Majority of staff were friendly. Tables cleaned quickly. 2-4-1 is brilliant when with a group. Our cocktails didn’t come without the decorations advertised, even though I saw other people with these. Disappointing however I assume this was due to how busy it was. Bartender didn’t tell us which shots were which, this made it difficult when buying for a group. Overall a good experience, Would definitely return ☺️

By far the best bottomless brunch I have ever been to!! The food was fantastic, and there is a very versatile menu including vegetarian options. Our server Xia was absolutely amazing! Our group was very well looked after, and we are planning on returning again! If you're looking for a place for a quiet but memorable drink, with exceptional service and tasty cocktails, the Slug & Lettuce is the place for you!

Food was lovely, staff were nice. Music was way too loud for me as someone who has ADHD I struggled to understand any conversations that were happening with my friends and after quickly finishing our meals we had to leave as I couldn't cope with the noise.

Absolutely excellent night out! We booked in at slug and lettuce for a big party before heading to the races. I cannot stress enough how much fun we had. Food was delicious and the drinks came thick and fast. All the staff were brilliant ! Special mention to Jack for making sure we had the best night. Thanks guys!

Absolutely fantastic day!! We went for the bottomless brunch for a birthday celebration and the service from start to finish was nothing less than fantastic. Ella our server was the most attentive, friendly and looked after us from start to finish, nothing was too much for her and she deserves recognition for all her hard work especially with it being race day and very busy. The food was lovely and the drink selection was fantastic would highly recommend anyone thinking of going for bottomless brunch, and would definitely do it again. Food was ok, went for bottomless brunch and the cocktails were good, bad smell of drains throughout the building and it was knocking us a bit sick. We were told the drains had collapsed, just not what you want to smell when eating/drinking.
