The Old Rectory in Stockport

Called here on wednesday with mum and my wife,had the offer that was on of 2 meals for £12.99, to be honest wasnt expecting to much as it did say they were smaller portions but when the meals arrived was really a good size, had some trouble getting on to the website to leave this review hence couple of days have passed, meal was great,staff were really good,pub itself was clean will certainly be returning in the future

Paul and all the staff couldn't do enough , plus the house manager, made sure I didn't have to move due , to my work project in the area , so I stayed in my room for six weeks, All I can say about this hotel, they have a family value, which i mean, smile's and talk to you, & will go that extra mile .. Well done to the manager from up above, for employing the right staff.... I will be making sure that later on in the work project, I will be making this my first call . Thanks to all, Donald Thomas plus kelsea was absolutely fantastic and couldn't of helped me more absolute asset to the restaurant

First time at this place , and Joe and Jess were lovely service always happy , always made time for a conversation with myself when time was right asked how I was how’s my day , food was great had a sizzler and come out very quick and was delicious , steak cooked how I liked it couldn’t praise them any more ! Would recommend if staying in the hotel or local people definitely come again thanks to them

Went in for family meal at around 3pm,by 5 we were all feeling very off,stomachs are still not right the morning after We had chicken that was warm n soft Fries that were warm ,tasteless sauce Mixed peppers were soggy Only thing ok was the drinks Sorry but we will never eat there again

Overall not very good. I used to have a lovely meal in here with my Dad. So I took my son, but food was just lacking, it was like nothing seemed fresh.I think it may have been because of the time we got what was left. Poor. Sorry.

Highly recommend, nice food and lovely staff. Paul and Maria really looked after us, and are absolutely an asset to the place. We’ll be back!

Very, very busy so was surprised when our food arrived so promptly. Maria behind the bar was being a legend and she and her heavily bearded colleague worked hard and maintained a sense of humour in the face of hours of flat out non stop service. Well done and thanks.

We had breakfast here whilst staying at the Premier Inn. The staff member was very pleasant and helpful and I particularly liked the way he interacted with the young child travelling with us. The breakfast unfortunately was not up to the usual Premier Inn standards, there was no bowl of mixed apples, pineapple etc that I look forward to, I had the last yoghurt which thankfully was a flavour that I liked, there was no Nutella or jam although when I asked for jam (surely that's a basic?!) the helpful waiter went to look and managed to find strawberry but no choice of flavour. The main reason I am writing is because apparently it was not possible to cook either poached or boiled egg due to "not having a suitable pan". I don't like to complain but felt that constructive feedback is required as we frequently stay at Premier Inns local to you and the number of people at breakfast spoke volumes, such a shame for what used to be a great restaurant.

Just went to a wake here: potato salad seemed to have totally undercooked semi raw potatoes in it in my opinion. Members of the public outside with known extremely vicious dog breed tugging on a flimsy lead whilst growling viciously and seemingly squaring up for a fight. Ignorant and rude barmaid who couldn't get round to serving me and repeatedly said : "There is a queue" even after half an hour. Luckily very nice male bartender who went out of his way to be helpful. Would not come back here.

I wouldn't bother. Had the "rump steak" and left half. First ordered the "new item" on the menu, the lamb kofta," we don't have that" was the reply. Settled on the 11 oz steak. Don't know who the butcher is but that was not a rump steak. Thought I'd finish with the apple & berry crumble. Gloopy stodge warmed in a microwave. Why is whomever is cooking even allowed in a kitchen and how can you serve this? Really bad food.

We arrived the tables to see the tables still with empty plates ghd whole time we were there.The food came which looked ok but there was an earwig crawling in the salad, they did apologise and offer a refund on the food which we haven't received yet. I did call to enquire when that maybe but they never called back. DO NOT EAT AT THIS RESTAURANT

Me and mum have just got back from the old rectory spa and we had a lovely experience. Our lady's that did our treatments made us feel comfortable and safe. We had afternoon tea which was such a treat ! I'm gluten free and didn't feel left out at all !. Thank you lady's for a fantastic experience. And we will most certainly be back

Absolutely dreadful! Good was sent back as cold, service was awful and slow and dessert looked like somethingy dog would churn out! Avoid at all costs!

I’ve been to the Old Rectory many times and had a normal experience but I have to comment how we probably won’t go again any time soon as it’s gone quite downhill. Visited with my two children as a spontaneous evening visit last week, entered the restaurant and every single table had dirty plates with old food which looked like they had been there a while. We managed to find one cleanish table near the toilets. It’s clearly hugely understaffed. The staff who were on (looked like only two at first for the whole restaurant) were doing their best but it was poor and the restaurant was filthy. Food was just microwaved / deep fried and overpriced for what it was. £34 for chicken strips, chips and a drink each (non alcoholic) - I wish I had just gone to the shop and made it myself for a fraction of the price. Won’t be returning unless it rapidly improves.

myself and my daughter are regular visitors to the Old Rectory for there sunday lunch, excellent value, great portion sizes, amazing service and ideal for children… highly recommend it

Poor experience this lunchtime. Filthy menus just in need of a clean. Food in my opinion should not have left the kitchen. Excuses given. I suggest you give it a miss and walk into stockport centre to forward thinking businesses.

There was only 3 of us in. However the time of day makes the difference it was 4pm on Saturday. Food was lovely and service was quick.

Can't really knock the atmosphere, it was early on a Sunday morning! The staff were polite and friendly, food was served hot and well presented. Customer service was provided to each and every table. I've stayed at a lot of Premier Inns and this is among my favourites for breakfast.

Stayed here for the weekend and dined in the restaurant. Although they were short staffed,paul, joe and the team managed to serve a large group of us, remaining polite and professional. The food was very nice. We would look to stay here again. Andy&Andrea.

After writing a poor review regarding our Christmas Dinner, we have been offered a complimentary voucher for 2 main courses, 2 Desserts and 2 Drinks, must admit I would have preferred a cash refund. The complimentary voucher arrived in an envelope with an out of date postage stamp on it costing us £2.50p and a trip to the Post Office sorting office to pick it up. with the words on it "Send A Little Love This Valentine's Day" very sarcastic. Surely a company as big as Hungry Horse must know postage stamps without a barcode are no longer valid.

Had a lovely breakfast here this morning with my nanna they lady who served us Debbie was very polite and friendly will definitely be back again 🙂

Lovely dinner had the mixed grill everything was perfectly cooked. Amazing service from all 3 girls Tyra serving me drinks , Kelsey serving my food nice, efficiently and Jess making sure I have everything I need and keeping a positive attitude and clean environment. Lovely service from Kelsey and Tyra today. Has a nice new sauce bar and clean tables . From both girls I had lovely manners and quick service. The food was perfectly cooked nice and fresh. Will definitely be coming back for a cheeky brunch next week. Jess was also in the kitchen and on the floor giving polite conversation and doing a lot to make the place look tidy ready for new customers

Kelsea & Debbie were amazing at breakfast by being very attentive to all the guests. The bacon served was outstanding (as was all the other items in my cooked breakfast) and nice coffee too. Will definitely be back on my next stay at Premier inn Stockport Central 👌

Food was cheap n the service was nice enough. However, the cutlery was quite dirty and the food was not up to par. Watery chicken tika masala and a bland lasagne which tasted like it was a microwave meal. Won't hold too high of expectations since it was cheap but clean cutlery is a must have.

Debbie looked after us every morning, we've had a great stay! Andy in the kitchen was nice and friendly too, recommending places to go.

Incredibly poor service and the food is dreadful. Stood at the bar for 10 minutes to order drinks being told they would be with me soon. Then to be told they were too busy to serve me. Will never return to this pub again.

The word hero is thrown around too readily theses days. But not, it would seem, when used to describe the hosting/serving colossus that is the magnificent Debbie! She was johnny on the spot with the order taking and the despatch and delivery of said order was handled with a grace and finesse rarely seen these days. Thank you so much for yet another wonderful morning. Now go get a coffee!!!

Had a lovely meal yesterday afternoon, which came quickly and was tasty. We were served our food and drinks by Debbie, who made sure we had everything we needed throughout.

Meals are good value for money cheap but good quality. Staff are very friendly and inviting, lovely afternoon out thank you Debbie for your hospitality.

Had a lovely stay in PI, we had breakfast every morning in the Old Rectory Restaurant, so much Choice! Debbie was always attentive and friendly. Parking was plentiful. Will definitely stay again.

I've driven past here a few times but hadn't been in until this evening. I'm glad I did, we were served by Jessica and she couldn't do enough for us! She modified dishes at our request, was super friendly and polite, plus couldn't have done more to help make our visit as pleasant as it could be!

We visited on 2 separate occasions while staying in the adjacent premier inn...I was travelling alone with 3 kids and the staff made us feel very welcome and kept interacting with the kids to make them feel relaxed....also the kids enjoyed the arcade style games. The only thing I would say is on curry night the curry was very lukewarm, even though the restaurant wasn't that busy...our 2nd visit we tried other items and they were piping hot.

Starter was ok garlic bread 🍞 soggy dessert 🍨 came out before main meals and all the waitress said was have you not had them yet. No apologies nothing. Gammon overcooked and dry egg pretty much rock solid. Rock solid will not return. Place has gone down hill
