Quiet but long wait for food. 3 staff on shift, one working the other two just talking, all tables dirty for over an hour. All the food we wanted was out of stock. Bad experience. Wouldn't go again.

The food was lovely and the service extremely good, especially given the noisy kids birthday that was also keeping them all busy. (Well done Kelsey !) Don't let that party put you off as it was very quiet the day before (I was staying in the Premier Inn next door).

The serving staff are second to none, especially Debbie and Jamie although all the staff are fab. Even when they are really busy they are smiling and efficient. The food is cheap and cheerful as you would expect, obviously not cordon bleau but still enjoyable, especially at the prices they charge. A great experience over all.

We held a celebration event at The Old Rectory for 40 people. We had ordered the buffet including the hot savoury choices and desserts. The food was exceptional and was replenished as and when needed with fresh hot and cold food. The service was excellent and everyone complimented both the venue and food. We used both the designated inside area and also the outdoor seating area to the front of the pub. The drink prices were reasonable so a great time was had by all

Absolutely awful from being seated at a dirty table then waiting for it to be cleaned, to not having plates, sliced bread, crumpets, orange juice, apple juice and no fresh coffee. The cooked breakfast was mediocre at best. When ordering a coffee and having the privileged of paying another £2.99 it took the best part of 20 minutes to be placed at the table

We both had the steak and ale pie it was really nice both enjoyed it and very good price. Bella was our server she was really nice and made sure we had everything we needed, Kelsey was busy all the time we were in there, but found time to chat with us which we thought was a personable thing that is missing in a lot of food establishments today. Also we didn't get the lads name behind the bar he brought the drinks to our table and was also very nice. We would go again! Well done! the three mentioned are a credit to this company.

Food is average pub grub at a cheap price. Decor is a little tired and worn. Decent atmosphere. Our server Kelsy and bar person Bella were very attentive, helpful and friendly, clearly working very hard.

Went foe Sunday lunch should realised when I got there I had made a mistake place was virtually empty for Sunday lunchtime . Place wasn't clean pick up menu it was grubby knives and forks dirty even tub they were in dirty .When the food came wasn't impressed looked like it had been thrown on the plate and not very good quality went to move my plate and could feel food underneath .The staff uniforms were dirty and looked like some of them had slept in them . Overall not impressed second time been to a hungry horse there won't be a third

Very poor breakfast. The whole restaurant is dirty including the chairs, carpets, tables, plates, cutlery etc. We arrived on a Sunday morning at 8:15 am and lots of food missing already from the buffet. (They open at 8 am) No pastries as they forgot to take them out the freezer the night before and no cereal. We asked for poached eggs and they weren’t cooked properly. This place is falling to bits and we will not be visiting again.

Family meet up of 16 waited 45 mins for for food which gave us chance to talk but had to queue for 15mins for a drink food arrived but no peas or onion rings with my order no explanation or discount given Family members also not happy with quality of food or service

Went for Sunday Lunch. Served by Kelsey who was very helpful and friendly, very attentive. The Sunday lunch was well presented and tasty, good pub food.

Food was nice but there was a group of lads smoking weed joint after joint the place absolutely stunk

We visited for lunch whilst waiting for an appointment with our little one, Debbie was amazing and went above and beyond and the Mac and cheese was the best we have ever had!! The bartender was lovely as well, great service all round

Everytime we go to the rectory for food we enjoy it. They always cook it quite quickly and get it to your table with a smile. They're very helpful if you need anything. The food is always nice and freshly cooked, desserts are extremely nice.

Packet mash is dreadful as is frozen vegetables. If they weren't frozen, they were dreadful just the same. The Rectory is a beautiful restaurant, but it was let down by the breakfast bread baskets with bread crumbs, still on the table after 4 pm. To be honest, it was more like McDonald's than the first-rate restaurant of old. I suspect all Premier Inn eateries are sadly 2 or 3 stars now.

The other recent reviews sum this up, here's my input. We asked for spoons for the cereal and were given tea spoons, the water in the tea urn was luke warm, there were no saucers for the tea cups, there were no side plates so we had to use the menus for our toast, they got our breakfast order wrong, things were missing, the scrambled egg was as dry as it's possible to get, the beans were cold, the tomato was burnt, the hash brown was nuclear hot. All in all a thorough 1/10

Fairly quiet for a summers day. But food quality was really good and a lovely cocktail to go with it. Kelsey really went out of her way to make my visit really enjoyable and we had a really nice conversation such a lovely lady. Will be returning

This is my 'local'. I stop by regularly for mainly food & drink. Today I have had the pleasure of wonderful Kelsea & Joe being brilliant & helping make my escape from work afternoon really enjoyable. It can be very busy however, the smiles, greeting & positive regard at all times is impressive, especially under pressure 😀. Food was good, tried a new cocktail from the summer menu. I've had a relaxing afternoon, a welcome break. Well done team 😊. Brilliant example of great hospitality. Updated 9 August

Came in again today, Kelsea was amazing always missed when she's not on the bar if she's in the kitchen she has such a smile on her face everytime. And a pleasure to see again good work ethic that girl.

The breakfast was atrocious scrambled eggs grey the black pudding was as hard as a brick the bacon was dry and bitty and this is supposed to be freshly cooked

Walked in on Saturday night and a large queue, which is fair enough, for the bar with 1 person serving followed by no knowledge of booking for 20 people for a 60th birthday, ie no table, 1 guy complaining about something, he said have given this place 2 chances and this was the final one, directed to a table and a slice of cheese, a bap and part of a burger on the carpet under the table, tables not cleared and to top it all ordered Sea Bass, sorry ran out ok will have fish n chips, same response, another of our group ordered the double vegan burger sorry just one burger left, the Manager supplied us with a complimentary bottle of wine however 2 of us didn't eat and tbh the other meals looked insipid, very disappointing except the politeness of the staff

The staff were polite and friendly. However, I think the chef has a vendetta against the pub owners, as that quality of food could only be served like that if it was intended and done on purpose!

This is the worst rating I have given a place I've been too which is a shame as the pub itself was really nice. The food was cold, the bar staff couldn't complete my order as the drinks machine was down. Most of the puddings were unavailable. My husband ended up with food poisoning but I have no proof it was this establishment. We will not be going back.

Had breakfast after a stay in Premier Inn. Terrible breakfast service with uncooked sausages

V disappointed, went for daughters bday, arrived, didn't know how to book us in, didn't understand that a wheelchair user can't be plonked on the end of the table. Our server was lovely kept us updated. Food was ok, potion size was on v smsll side, one meal only half eaten (sizzling platter of some sort) underneath was burned to crisp on the platter. Seemed to be full of teenagers who thought they were tough, v loud and constantly swearing and looking to see who they impressed. We went there as we had been on many occasions a long while ago, and since then the change was dramatic, such a shame as was a lovely restaurant. Won't be going again.

Nick is amazing!!! Full on customer service It’s a shame the food was “microwave” worthy Food items missing off plates, only one person being the bar who had to run food too. Where was the person in charge?! Why not step up?! This was an absolute joke especially when they knew a table of 16 were due to come it Won’t be returning though! Shoddy food and slow service

Food was slightly better than awful in taste and portions. Only one barstaff for a Sunday so very slow. I would not return.

I try to give balanced reviews but there's nothing good to say about this place. Ordered a couple of burgers which were advertised as coming with chips and onion rings. 45 minutes later when the food was served there were no onion rings on either plate and the "fairground fried onions" were missing off my Home Run burger. Brought this to the attention of staff who's response was "Can I get you something else instead" I told him that I didn't have another 45 minutes to wait. I asked if there was a manager on duty only to be told there wasn't and only a Team Leader. I do understand that sometimes you Run out of ingredients but surely it's common sense to tell the staff who cam advise customers and not let them pay for stiff they will never receive? The burgers were very bland and the chips were tepid at best. People walked out as the wait was too long, one woman got a refund and others complained about the wait and the lack of onion rings on the plate. .

Took my daughter who has autism and had to move seats because of the continuous squeaky door from the kitchen. The squeaking was driving me mad and my daughter was about to have a meltdown. The food quality is appalling. We got a chicken tikka curry and the chicken was slimey and every piece had gristle. A lasagne that was as flat and the same size as a cracker and all burnt. It had been defrosted in the microwave and reheated in the oven, also a portion of chips which there were about 14 chips. Everything was inedible and sent it back for a refund. I didn't think food could be so bad. The worst food iv ever had in my life 🤑🤑🤑 Also this IS the standard of this or any pub using Greene King food. The quality is horrendous but Greene King don't care. GUESS IL GET AN AUTOMATED EMAIL SAYING THIS ISN'T OUR USUAL STANDARD AND WE HOPE YOU WILL TRY US AGAIN. DONT BOTHER WASTING YOUR TIME COPYING AND PASTING BECAUSE I WONT BE BACK

Arrived with family as breakfast was still being served, we waited with soft drinks until 12pm to order from the main menu which went pretty smoothly. There was only my family and another small family in the dining area of the pub at the time we ordered, we waited over 45 minutes for our meals and the food we were served was far from nice. All day brunch off main menu: mushrooms were black and burnt to a crisp, egg was absolutely covered in oil and what seemed like water was pouring from the egg onto the rest of my plate, beans had absolutely no taste and bacon was also burnt, hash browns were edible. Full Monty mixed grill was very bland and meat all served well done, extremely dry and burnt even though medium rare was made clear when we ordered. Children got their food first followed by a 20 minute wait for 2 adults then a further 10-15 minutes for the other 2 adults meaning the children had finished and wanted to play by the time any adults saw their food. As I said, the restaurant was pretty much empty so I don’t understand the long waiting times and poor quality food, I would be more understanding if staff were rushed off their feet and would’ve given the benefit of the doubt. Don’t ask me why we stayed for pudding but we did, again very long staggered desserts being brought to the table which didn’t make it enjoyable for our family to eat together, it all felt such a rush to keep up with each other and just unnecessary. Not a very enjoyable experience.

All real ale not available at the time of my visit. Made to order food at 19:30 as the kitchen was closing soon! Food was cheap and you get what you pay for. No soap in bathrooms to wash hands. Kicked out of the bar at 22:15. Not a great experience!

came for lunch with some friends and was fabulous. Was served by Jess and she was so helpful and polite a true credit to the team and made my experience here great. Food was lovely came quick and was very hot and tasty.

I was here a few nights at the Premier Inn that’s attached, food was ok decor is looking a little tired torn seats and overall a little shabby could do with a refurbished. However Jessica is an absolute asset you that place she was so helpful and accommodating to my needs I have a few food allergies and she was great, providing me with the relevant information. We had a great chat such a friendly face, she was extremely welcoming as for the other members of staff they could do with taking a leaf out of Jessica’s book Just stood around talking it seemed like she was the only one working. As for Kelcea not much to say just a basic waitress didn’t seem like she wanted to be there, not very friendly to be honest if it wasn’t for Jessica the rating would of absolutely been a two at best.

Went for a birthday party on Sunday 6 people had the Sunday roast and none were eaten most of the food severely overcooked and could not be eaten will not be going again or recommend to anybody if they want a decent meal.

Tables dirty, 1 person on the bar with a massive que of people, staff forgetting to attend our table with cutlery etc, food burnt and a waitress dropped food on the floor diabolical service, god knows how this place is still open?

We visited today it was a late father's Day meal which we couldn't do last week, our boys love coming here, me and my husband had fish and chips which we really enjoyed the boys enjoyed there children's meals too, it was very quick service today which meant extra time spent on Woodbank Park with the boys 🙂

Excellent meal, excellent service staff go above and beyond. Kelcea went out of her way to help with recommendations.

There is no draught beer, food was passable. What really made the difference was the server Joe. He went the extra mile to make sure thar we enjoyed the experience as much as possible.

Been a long time since visiting here. Visited on a sunday evening, food was great and served well. Staff were very busy. Kelcea served myself and was very polite, friendly and professional also made some great recommendations for my meal. Will visit again for sure. / Wont let me write another review so I'll update on this one. Visited again and was greeted by the staff very politely and professional, food was excellent.
