Never been busy in here every time I've been in but the staff are great friendly and attentive will try going at a busy time just to see how it goes

Me & my wife called in for something to eat and was pleasantly surprised on a Sunday teatime 5:30 that they had some great ‘Live” Music with a Southern Irish feel to with a great singer. We both had a Panini one with Chicken & one with Beef. They came with chips. (Great portions) The price is very reasonable including a Pie & a pint for £8. Staff were friendly and helpful and a great asset to the place. I spoke to Dave the Manager and he says they have live music on a Saturday & Sunday. We will mostly definitely be back & would recommend if in the area you pay the Royal Oak a visit 👍👍

Been here a few times in the last 40 years. Had a major revamp about 5- 6 years ago. It needed it. Jorvic tells me it used to have very loud live music rock nights. They always have a lovely floral basket display to the front. Inside there is a bar area with two further rooms to left and right as you enter. Good sized rear beer garden. I have had good food here. On this visit I just had a pint of Robinson's Unicorn. Very good. Well worth a visit says Jorvic.

What a little GEM… beautiful place to eat, ambience is warm and friendly, with a hint of Ireland. The food was amazing, hot as you would expect. My food choice was ‘Chicken & Stuffing baguette, with gravy, onion chutney and skin on fries’…. Perfect!

AWFUL food and service! Went in for pub lunch around 1pm on a Sunday and were the only people in there for a while which speaks volumes. The service was shocking, bar staff had bad attitude, music was blaring and the food was AWFUL (see picture) We felt like we were in a local community centre in 2008! Warmed up dry pies served in plastic baskets with PAPER cutlery!? The management really needs changing here, shocking all round

Good alcohol selection and wines, beers on draught. Friendly staff. Indoor and outdoor seating. Lovely locals. Nice decor throughout.

Aggressive owners, im a resident of the area. Been in this pub many times, have many friends in there, this night was visiting another local but popped my head in whilst waiting for a taxi, just to say hello to friends, the land lady was extremely abusive, never asked for a drink etc, she was friendly with the male clientele that just arrived treating them lovely but clearly has an issue with females, thankfully they leave in less than a weeks time, hopefully the new managers have a more friendly approach, was abusive. Heard from other patrons that she was a very jealous person. Avoid till they leave!!!!

First vist to the Oak and will definitely come back. The food was excellent and the service was even better. The Landlord was really helpful with a great sense of humour. Real good pub grub that is very fairly priced.

Fantastic place, great friendly staff, guinness is superb.

My partner & I were blown away when we first visited. The food is to die for - hands down, the absolute best we've ever had. Generous portions, clearly homemade & cooked to order - no microwave dinners here! We've been back a couple of times since & we're really impressed with how consistent the food's been. The staff are friendly & approachable, & the atmosphere was very light - most enjoyable. :) ETA: came back for Mother's Day this year & the food & staff were as good as ever!

We went on a quiet afternoon so not much atmosphere. However, the food and service were excellent. I would highly recommend.

12 of us went yesterday for the first time. Greeted warmly, made very welcome by the landlord, he even remembered it was my birthday from when I booked. The food was all homecooked and absolutely fantastic. Landlord brought out my cake, chatted, and was a great host. What a find this pub 👏 is! Can't recommend highly enough.

Went Sat 20/01/24 booked for 11 of us at 5 45pm. Landlord was lovely, very welcoming. We pre-ordered our meals. All I and the rest of my family can say it was probably the best meal we've had out in years. I had chicken rosti- superb👍 The others had lasagne, chicken platter, fish goujons, chicken burger. All of it was cooked to perfection and piping hot. I can say hand on heart we will be the 1st booking for 1st sitting "Xmas 2024"!!! Give it a try, worth every penny 👍👍👍

Food was ok would not say it was the best. It was ok. Atmosphere too quiet. The boss with an eye patch needs to back off just a little

Looking forward to not cooking this Xmas day booked Royal Oak for Christmas Day £70 per person for half 3 sitting … got there at 3.15 they were running behind from first sitting fair enough for Xmas day we were seated for 3.50 … got the starter an hour later … main course was served at 19.50 unbelievable gone past eating it then … I had told the owner Mark that had 2 diabetics on the table it made no difference … people walked out after only having starters as didn’t want to wait any longer … no bar staff on after 6 pm so just landlord and his wife doing it all obviously way out of their league with it all. Our party left at 8 it would have been midnight waiting for pudding. A Christmas Day completely ruined I was devastated we had paid deposit of £20 each but I refused to pay the rest of the bill as that service was so appalling I have never experienced anything like it in my life … so I would not recommend here 😡😡

everything was absolutely amazing about the bar staff all so polite and welcoming except i think the house lady, very rude and thought she was above everyone else, which seems very down showing on the actual staff, merry christmas to all of the workers ❤️

My favourite pub on Cheadle high Street. Friendly staff, properly looked after Robinson's on cask and relaxing atmosphere. Great place to go if you don't want to watch the sport!

First time having food ,it was cooked to perfection , service with a smiley face and a very friendly ,chatty landlord whom made you feel at home ... We will be back in December for the Xmas meal /entertainment... Definitely worth a visit

Amazing roast dinner yesterday, really tasty great portion size and the rhubarb crumble for dessert was stunning. I really recommend The Royal Oak, the staff and the place deserves your business, it’s also for a good mix of homely pub and upmarket bar all at the same time

1st time been in here. Had a dj on fairly busy. Bought pint of Guinness, pint dark fruit & 4 baby Guinness. £27. Which I thought was a bit pricey. Still enjoyed my visit here. Didn't have food so didn't rate that.

Beautiful evening meal tonight, fresh, home made, good portion sizes, and so tasty. Served with friendly banter. Dog friendly pub too which is great. A little quiet, but it was a Wed. Would definitely recommend.

Landlord is a disgrace, looks like he needs a makeover looks like a tramp. Will never go in there until he's sacked,I was a regular customer but I'll never go in again the land lord and land lady were disrespectful to myself and my son

Fantastic atmosphere, very tidy and respectful place, great music, one of the best pubs I have ever been to.

The New owner has top class customer service skills, also the staff are fantastic. My spend is based on food & drinks.

Never been here before and just happened upon it with a friend on Bank Holiday Monday and it was lovely. The pub has lovely decor and a good music playlist. The service was great, we were able to sit out in the sun and the food we ordered was timely and tasty. We had a look and it seems there's some good entertainment on throughout the week so will definitely be back.

6 of us, great food, landlord with good sense of humour. Well above average for pub food. Nice interior. Parking nearby in car park free on Sunday.

Sunday lunch was fab, the lamb was succulent, falling to bits and gravy oh my. It was quiet so only given 3* which I suppose is about unfair because you don't want it rammed with people and kids. But felt a little too quiet at the time. Cannot complain about staff, could not do enough and would Def go again for Sunday lunch

Quiet at 1.30pm on a Sunday in January. Food ok. Service was nice. Good good value

Girls behind the bar are always there to help with a smile, the DJ's Phil and Clive are on point and will play anything you ask of them, the atmosphere is lively and full of variety and the food is good old cooked in ovens, tasty and served with a smile, if you visit Cheadle make sure the Oak's on your to do list

Lovely, friendly staff, beautifully decorated. Good Karaoke DJ on a Thursday. Only complaint is it is a bit on the expensive side but don't let that put you off.

Welcoming and friendly pub, I had the scampi and chips, the portion was a good size and hot and the chips were definitely the best I've ever had. I'd definitely eat here again 👍

First time in for 30 years. I wouldn't have recognised the place. Seemed friendly enough, busy and loud.

Had Sunday lunch here and it was delicious lamb shank and loads of veg crispy Yorkshire pudding and gravy really nice

We were visiting Cheadle and after walking up through the centre we spotted this place we went in and were able to get seats no problem at all. We ordered at the bar, which has the usual selection of drinks, is bit limited on real ales. The food was tasty and well presented, we choose to share a sharing platter.

Used to go here a lot but have been here twice recently and both times, the same barmaid went straight in to serve people who she knew who had just walked in, as opposed to serving us and other people who had clearly been waiting for a while who she didn’t know. The atmosphere was ok, although we decided to swiftly move to another (more relaxed) pub in the village as it was very loud with the music and we couldn’t even have a conversation due to the loud music, reminded me of a night club or old school social club. A good place to go if you want a bit of a disco without going to town and don’t mind being pushed to the bottom of the pile when waiting to be served , but wouldn’t recommend if you want a quiet drink and conversation on a Saturday night

Went late on Saturday night with a few family really spent some money on the place nicely done with a small dance floor and a real smart beer garden. Good DJ played some good tunes got the place moving mums and sons daughters and dad's all up having a boogie. Bar was pricey Manchester prices but staff were very good even though it was very busy. We all had a great night even me the fossil of the group.Well worth a look.

Lovely place but a big big bigshame about the food as its all microwaved apart from frozen chips cheese onion pie all mushy and served in a dish this is not a plate pie and stake pudding no taste very very bland just a waste of money and we were the only two people eating would not recommend food in this place as would not return again

Dined in this pub several times. The staff are amazing. Nothing is too much trouble. They obviously put customer service at the top of their agenda. A fine Robinson's pub where they take great pride in the quality of the beers they keep and serve. They offer several menus including a specials board and a wide variety of pies. Ensure if you are visiting at weekend you book your table If you enjoy great food, great beer and top customer service this is the placefor you.

Went in for a drink with friends while on a night out. Nice pub but very noisy with karaoke blaring out and overly enthusiastic bar staff who cleared glasses but also took full drinks off the table.

hi I visited your cheadle pub today at 1pm with my family of 7 for my brothers 40th birthday I was so impressed I'm going back with friends soon also motherday sorted 👍 so here's my rating food excellent very nice sized portions (I waddled out 😆) 😢 no room for desert maybe nxt time)nice variety of dips offered excellent customer service the young lady was very nice helpful polite served us with alovely smile and very informative about events and evening entertainment also met her colleague/boss(?) again lovely very helpful when asking about events both of them made me feel really at home which is what you want from a pub grub nice warm atmosphere very friendly also outside seating it was very reasonably priced and quite a variety of food to Choose for a lunch time visit love love love it I'll be back!! Only call in this place about once a month. The service, cleanliness and attention to detail from the staff is second to none. Highly recommend.
