Danielle looked after us. She was informative about gluten free needs and accommodated our special needs children. Food was hot and delicious!

Had a lovely lunch here today.first time we'd eaten here and very pleasantly surprised.plenty of choice..a vegetarian, a vegan and a meat eater...we were well catered for ! The pub itself is really comfortable, very clean and welcoming.staff very friendly. The food was great, we'd definitely return.

First time visiting since the pub has changed hands. Lovely atmosphere and very friendly staff on the bar and Ollie our waiter was brilliant. We had the 1/2 chicken combo meals and it was lovely! We will be back to try the small plates deal for sure! Thanks!

This is a brilliant venue - Danielle is great at hosting. The food and drinks are extremely reasonable in price - I would definitely recommend this venue for somewhere to eat and drink.

Nice atmospheric local public house which I visit regularly. All food I have tried so far is good value and tasty. The staff, particularly, Danielle is always very friendly and has a memory that is customer focused whereby she knows what you like to order, drink and food wise. Overall, a place I would recommend 👌

Took advantage of the two meals for £16.50 which is ran Monday-Thursday. Plenty of options and was thoroughly enjoyed buy us both (we got bbq fried chicken burger and cheese & bacon burger) Danielle was very attentive and friendly. We will definitely be returning :)

Just visited for a late lunch with my husband and we took along a pooch. Plenty of water bowls and treats for the doggies. We opted for the two for £16.50 menu. So much to choose from and we both had the chicken combo meals. Plenty of sides,sauces to choose from. Staff were welcoming and very attentive. This was are 2nd visit and already were looking forward to trying out there Sunday roast menu.

Joined for the re opening and we were welcomed by the landlady and landlord who were very friendly. Table of 5 adults and all ate various dishes including starters. Steak was cooked medium with all the sides you would expect. Peppercorn sauce was a highlight. Others ate burger, pie and noodles which were all enjoyed. All in all a good pub tea which was well priced. Staff were friendly and kept checking in throughout the meal.

The Thatch was always one of our go to pubs, being our local but also because of the friendly atmosphere and great food with the previous owner and team. We were very skeptical about the reopening of the thatch and thistle but when we first walked in, to our surprise it was fairly busy with a bit of a buzz, so first impressions pretty good. However, the food was extremely disappointing, especially the kids food. If your kids are 3+ I would honestly suggest getting them an adults meal. My 7 year old literally got 12 tubes of pasta for his Mac n Cheese, he ate it within about 2 minutes. I brought this to the staffs attention and one of the bar staff's response was "I've eaten from the kids menu" (good for you) they then went to speak to the chef about the matter to which the response was "the adult portion was split in two and it just so happens he got the smaller half" - not acceptable in my opinion. I had the chicken burger which was nice but you could get the same from a fast food for half the price and my partner had scampi which was nice apparently but the mushy peas as he described was like a "pea brick". The owners this whole time were sat there with their drinks watching the football - clearly didn't care about customer satisfaction. I will say there was a lovely waitress/maybe front of house she was really friendly and polite. Overall - good for a drink and a bit of atmosphere, terrible service and food.

We were regulars of the Thatch andThistle and were anxiously awaiting the reopening. We had a five small plate selection and it is with regret I have to say it was awful. Every single dish was overcooked so the garlic mushrooms were like little stones, the chicken wings were hard and duck spring rolls the same. The coke was flat and had to be replaced with a bottle. We will not be visiting again regretfully. Such a shame.

Had the Christmas menu. Goats cheese starter was good. Opted for the Turkey roast and was disappointed, especially the roast potatoes which were inedible. Our other main, seabass was very nice. Staff (one girl on her own as other staff had failed to turn up) was lovely and pleasant. The surroundings and furnishings were tired and dirty with rips in seats.

Had a wonderful lunch out with friends. Some lovely food choices and staff were very pleasant and attentive

On arrival a warm welcome from Danielle who showed us to a table ,took our drinks order, then brought the extensive menu choices to us. We enjoyed our meal, will certainly visit again. We were pleased with the cleanliness and character of the place. We would not hesitate to recommend the Thatch and Thistle as a well priced and well presented food and drink hostelry.Thank you.

Great friendly local pub Katie is lovely a breath of fresh air always smiling nothing is never to much trouble. Sophie and her sense of humour alway makes us smile. Emma the manager should be really proud of her team.

A really love home cooked pub meal. Had halloumi to start and there were various main meals among the group. I had the fish and chips which was absolutely delicious. Great chunky chips and a giant portion of fish. Super friendly and quick service too - thank you!

Came for impromptu dinner on a very hot evening. Nice greeting from Danielle. Comfy quiet table. Refreshing beer. Garlic mushrooms and salt & pepper squid to start . Tasty ,hot and nicely presented. We both ordered the pan fried Haddock for main from the specials . Just gorgeous ..a most delicious dish. Came with new potatoes pea shoots broccoli and kale light garlic and parsley sauce. First time visiting since the new owners (who also run Woollen Pig). We hadn't reserved a table on a Friday night but the place was empty which did have me worried but we were told we could sit anywhere and our drinks order was taken....

Not the great pub it used to be, We went on a Sunday, the place was nearly empty (I now understand why) it used to be busy and a good atmosphere, not anymore, there was no music it was like being in a library, complete silence, the menu was tiny because they shorten the menu on a Sunday! (Not everyone wants to eat a roast dinner on a Sunday) they need to cater for all. There was hardly any vegetarian options on the menu so I just had a starter. Food wasn’t that great, we used to come here a lot, and won’t be returning, it such a shame as it used to be such a good pub good atmosphere, music, the food always used to be spot on every single time.

Attentive service, comfy and clean surrounds. The food menu was a refreshing change to usual pub fayre. It was well presented, perfectly sized portions and plenty of flavour. Must go back slightly hungrier next time so I can try dessert.

This was my 1st time visiting since its been under new management...it won't be my last .the lady who waited on us ,Danielle.. was very bubbly very friendly. And great fun. The menu is not to big but a nice choice of food..The food was so tasty garlic flat bread with cheese (heaven). I popped in today to meet a friend while in my lunch break.I ordered the sweet potato fries and popcorn chicken with chilli Mayo. The Food was absolutely delicious and the service was top notch too. Our server was Danielle. Would highly recommend and I would return.

We were highly recommended this pub however it appears that a change of ownership has severely damaged its reputation. The food was sub-standard and the service was extremely shoddy. The lass who served our food clumsily spilt it onto the table and weakly apologised before walking off. She left us with no cutlery and food missing. The rest of the food was served over a 10-15 minute period. Another member of staff was very rude in saying we should have asked for cutlery - although do bear in mind one of the dishes was fish and chips so quite clearly something that ought to be served with it, at least in my eyes. She wasn’t accommodating and I don’t think she would know what a smile was if it slapped her in the face.It seems what was a very welcoming, friendly and quality establishment has been turned into a mess. We won’t be returning.

We ate here tonight. Have been several times before but did not realise that it had changed hands. Previous meals had been thoroughly enjoyed however tonight was a real disappointment. The menu was highly limited, not even one pasta dish as our 10 year old pointed out, which is quite a staple on a standard pub menu. Starters were very large portion wise but completely lacking in flavour with random bagged salad which did not complement the food in any way, shape or form. Steak was not well cooked and came on a tray which was again half filled with random salad. Chose a red wine gravy to go with the steak however this tasted like bisto and not a hint of red wine flavour. Burgers were dry, no coleslaw, which was on the menu but when asked said that they were out of coleslaw, yet no mention of this. Our children will pretty much eat anything but couldn't eat their meals which says it all really. A real shame as previously our meals have been excellent but the change in hands has clearly had a huge impact on the quality of food. Not a place to eat at, poor quality food across the board.

Well! !! Don't know where to start. been going here for the past 5 years or more, the last time we went was 4 weeks ago and the food was brilliant. The public house has been taken over, the food is terrible fast food at restaurant prices, will certainly not be going again

Once again an excellent meal at my favourute eating place. Food is always well presented and piping hot The Biscoff Cheesecake is fantastic. Staff are always welcoming and friendly and all well organised for covid.

Sat for around 10-15 attempting to get a nice pint in the sun, no signs to mention if an app is needed to order and staff where busy boogying to music or collecting a few glasses. Got bored and left. Will try again once bar service is back!

Decided to call in and have a few drinks, we arrived two adults and two children, pub not overly busy and lots of free tables so we sat in a booth, Barman says ‘children are not allowed in unless we are eating’ “really” I asked the waitress on the way out and she said that’s right it’s the bosses rules, when I enquired why she said due to covid, as I pointed out to her that’s ridiculous as it doesn’t matter if you are eating or drinking and makes no sense. This is our local pub so we certainly won’t be returning

Have lunched here twice in the last week. The food was excellent and as usual the staff were very friendly but professional.

Pretty disappointed on this visit. We were regulars prior to the shutdown and loved going, food and choice were always good. Unfortunately this visit wasn’t up to its usual standard. We waited a long time to be served and in between courses, the sweet potato fries were cremated and steak was supposed to be med but was almost raw.

The Owner chef made this pub restaurant a place to remember. With a huge variety of dishes and ales available, we would highly recommend a visit. The place is friendly, clean and has a warm atmosphere. The quality of food and experience was brilliant. We will return!

Visited the Thatch for Lunch yesterday which was excellent as usual.I had the Sunday Lunch and the beef was so tender and the Yorkshire pudding cooked to perfection.Hubby had his favourite Cajun Chicken which didn't disappoint. Always friendly and welcoming here from Jane and the team.Will be returning soon

Food is always excellent, but must admit on our last visit the staff weren't as attentive as usual. Getting our meals wrong and overcharging for meals we didn't get (but this was rectified), forgetting various requests but, in their defence, they were very busy.It felt like the drinks waiter didn't really want to be there and after said waiter had cleared up plates we were hanging around for the Dessert Menu that never arrived. (We were a large party, but gave up waiting and went home).I have to add that this is a 'one-off' experience as the pub is usually excellent, only the above-mentioned waiter was lacklustre in his customer service.I would still highly recommend the food, and the staff are generally friendly, but loses a star on this visit....

Our first time here it was steak night so had spicy chicken wings to start and the steak as mains it was delicious the steak was cooked to perfection and the chips were lovely, a very pleasant experience we will be back

Venue is always nice. Quaint inside. They do a reasonably priced 2/3 course menu which we usually have. Sometimes service can be a bit slow, depending on how many people are in, but they are always very pleasant.

We were a large group of eight and the pub was great at accommodating us all. We all ordered a starter and a main and all came quickly and correctly. I’ve been numerous times and always have the lasagne but favourites from others include: ribs, hunters chicken and steak.

Staff was rude, they was nice once we ordered food and drinks however me and my girlfriend who struggle in heat and has cystic fibrosis struggles around smokers moved to an empty part of the car park, to avoid the smoke and heat and was confronted by a bed rude and in polite staff member who spoke to us very impolitely and told us this was a staff only area, we was still on the main car park and she got more aggressive and told us there was cameras and sarcastically asked us if we was staff in an attempt to mock us until my partner struggled to get up and walked away.

First time I have visited this pub and found staff to be friendly and welcoming. Food arrived promptly. The lady also offered me the choice of my young daughter having her main with our starter which is nice to be given the option. Food arrived tasted nice will visit again if in the area

Hi there, I can honestly say I visit here a lot and love the menu/food though the girl described above has the worst attitude and personality going, every time I come in she has an attitude like she doesn’t want me to even be there, this has happened several times and I have gone over and over why she is like this with me and I have never met her so I don’t know, please sort this out as all the other girls are lovely. I just don’t know why with this one . Thanks

Had an excellent lunch all served fresh, steak, salmon, lasagne and Hunter chicken all good, hot and good portion size and the house red was excellent.

We've been to the Wednesday Steak night three times now and have been impressed every time. The table service is excellent, the restaurant setting is lovely and the Steak is superb with great sides including beer battered homemade onion rings- worth a visit just for those. The offer is 2 steaks and a bottle of house wine for £22 and a decent house wine too. Thanks to The Thatch, see you again soon :-)

I go here regularly and always go for the 2 or 3 course deals which are great value also the sunday roasts are always good.

Came here with a large party of people and we had a lovely meal. The staff were very pleasant and accommodating. Despite the large party the food we had was hot, well cooked and good. The environment is great inside and quite homely for a large restuarant. Prices are reasonable and our friends have been several times and enjoyed it. Will certainly come again.
