Perfect place for a bite to eat after a busy, we went very last minute, the staff are always super friendly, the food is delicious, and affordable. I recommend this place to anyone who fancies a bite to eat in Waterloo.

Absolutely awful. Staff rude. Couldn't speak to management about my experience. Tut tut . Used to be a lovely pub until the owners changed things. 😡😡😡

Staff are brilliant Sharon, kayleigh, amber and Becca are absolute stars. Nothing is too much trouble for them always welcoming when arriving

Thank you for being so accommodating. Held my sons birthday here we had 34 children pre sent the menu choices across absolutely no bother everything run smoothly and everyone complimented the food, staff and great atmosphere. Fantastic space for the kids to play and run around. Thank you so much I’m sure we will be back all throughout the summer holidays.

The sun was out so we decided to go into Crosby, we thought we would try The Liver as we have never been before, and I am so glad we did! A wonderful pub with a fantastic atmosphere and wonderful staff! The weather was glorious so we spent the day in the beer garden, they have a large garden with a play area for the children and there is so much room! We had some small starter meals, we had the usual suspects, chicken wings, tacos, all delicious and the kids tucked into pizza and ice cream and they enjoyed the swings and the sunshine! The staff are so friendly and funny, made us feel so welcome! Can’t wait to go back! Big shout out to Lynn and Sharon who were so lovely to us all. Thanks guys will see you again very soon x

Gorgeous inside and outside the staff are lovely quick service no wait food really good for the kids as they have loads of space on the grass to play and also the play area grate

Been to this pub a few times over the years but always seemed a bit grubby. Went yesterday for some food and a drink. It was lovely and fresh and whoever has now taken over has made a real difference. All staff were lovely and polite. Just what this place needed.

We were really sad to see the Liver shut throughout the lockdown, so we’re very happy they have opened again! We nipped in last night for a meal and a few drinks, the bar team couldn’t have been more welcoming and helpful. It’s all decorated for Christmas so feels nice and cosy. Will be back in over the weekend! Great that they are dog friendly too - our dog gets loads of attention and is always offered water whenever we go in!

Never been in a public house so friendly to children and pets, the staff are amazing and make you feel like family, I've been all around the world, the place is truly amazing, you can't buy the service you get, what a lovely place

Pay every staff member old and new that you owe wages to. People don't work for free. Pub and it's management are an absolute DISGRACE

Lugar horrible. Vasos dejados en la mayoría de las mesas. Optexes en su mayoría vacíos. Baños sucios. El personal del bar parecía totalmente miserable y un olor terrible alrededor del bar. Olía a ratas muertas. Una verdadera lástima ya que el lugar tiene el potencial de ser un pequeño bebedor realmente agradable. Parece que se está ejecutando en el suelo.

Como residente local, siempre he tenido cariño por The Liver, ya que es un pub tradicional, muy acogedor cuando entras en una fría tarde de noviembre con el fuego rugiendo. . . . . a un gran comienzo Luego fue una experiencia recurrente negativa en nuestras últimas visitas (han pasado 6 meses debido a visitas menos que impresionantes).Dos miembros del personal detrás del bar, me uní a la cola solo un puñado de personas en el bar, pero tardé demasiado en ser atendido. Mientras espera ser atendido. . . . . Una de las experiencias negativas que tuve anteriormente no había cambiado. . . . . Neveras vacías. Acciones / opciones limitadas, había un montón de Budweiser. . . ¿Pero cuántas personas beben esos días de tesis? ?Pedimos una pinta de San Miguel. . . estaba saliendo del grifo muy lentamente, el personal tuvo que darle el remolino habitual para tratar de obtener una cabeza para que sepa de inmediato que se desinflará y lo hizo. Además, es 70 p por litro más caro que una cadena conocida en el futuro.Encima de estos vasos sucios al final del bar, hay menús de comida esparcidos en el bar.Baños. . . . . No los visité esta vez. . . . . ¡pero un cliente salió diciendo que no había un retrete (nuevamente) y el personal tuvo que pasar uno al otro lado de la barra!Equipo. . . . No quiero sonar tan negativo, pero tienes un pub tan maravilloso y estoy desesperado por que le vaya tan bien, desafortunadamente si continúa así recibirá más y más comentarios negativos y cada vez menos clientes.Por favor, por favor, consiga este pub donde debería estar, ya que quiero disfrutar de una noche de invierno frente a su encantador fuego rugiente con una botella de Red (punto menor, sugiero que ofrezca una gama más amplia de vinos).

My last visit was about a year ago. I didn’t go back again because the toilets were pitch black, broken lights and no loo roll so had to make a quick exit to another pub! Decided to give it another go last night as I had heard it had been done up. Guess what ?? Pitch black toilets, broken lights and no loo roll!! Really??? The bar looked very sparse with lots of empty optics and the beers had glasses over them - only had one lager on. Seriously disappointed and won’t be returning. Such a shame as I live local and it has so much potential.

It's a really well run nice friendly place. I recommend this place to anyone who wants a quiet drink.

We arrived bh Monday and it did not appear too busy even though we waited 15 mins to be acknowledged and served. We found a table outside and ordered some snacks. We were told there was an hours delay so, after an hour and a half we complained. We ordered the chips and received the fries, burnt and cold. We ordered chicken dips and received them burnt and cold too, 10 mins later. These should have come with sauce which we asked for 3 times and never received. We noticed a member of staff drinking alcohol and found (from her and the manager) that she was stepping in to help as staff had failed to turn up. I had a quiet word with the manager before we left about the service and legal implications of tipsy staff. She clearly, openly, told me that it did not matter as the company was pleased with the ratings from the bank holiday weekend. So there was no reason to question this days events. I told here she had probably lost at least us 4 as customers. She merely shrugged as I left. During our time here we had heard at least 3 guys with families shouting their disapproval over waiting for food that, when it did come, was cold and/or burnt. So it’s not even worth popping in for a drink. It’s not the cheapest and service seems very low down the list.

Avoid if you want to wait 1 hour and 20 mins for food to be told another 15 min wait :( no apologies from the man serving at the bar all we got told was we just catching up with orders !!! When the food did come out the chips must of through been the fryer five times maybe that’s why it took so long who knows . Ordered a chicken goujon meal with bbq sauce got no sauce had to go and ask for cutlery and napkins as none was brought to the table and when asked for sauce we had to share one tomato ketchup between four of us . The deserts came out quite quickly after our meal as I think they realised every one was fed up and hey presto the kids brownies was still frozen solid. Great place if you want to lose your teeth !!!

So I am usually very complimentary even when establishments are not quite the best however this place takes the biscuit! Now bare in mind it’s local and not the first time I have visited however I stopped frequenting this place a while ago because it went ‘downhill’ and recently decided to try it again to see if anything had changed. First time back we had food. There were two adults and three kids. They forgot one of the children’s meals and we had to ask three times for the deserts to be brought over - after 40-mins wait (after they took plates away!) we got up and left without eating it - and we paid for it in advance! So we thought ok, it could have been an ‘off day’ so we stupidly went back. Second time we stood at the bar for 20-minutes before we got served. I thought Jeeze - the price has gone up a lot! We ordered food and after waiting 30-minutes one of the staff came out to tell us that they had ran out of food we ordered and could we pick something else - three choices later and they confirmed they had some available - would have been a better idea to tell us this at the till in the first place. Whilst at our table my mother questioned the bill - turns out it was wrong but they couldn’t work out what they did so they started again and found out that they had changers us twice. We then had to wait twenty minutes for the manager to come down and authorise a reversal refund on the card - not the best service!! Still keeping fingers crossed for a good experience we went in a third time - yes we are stupid! So this time - the FINAL time - we got served only to be told they had run out of vodka, run out of brandy and the food that was served - a roast - was raw! Yes raw! The meat was freezing and there wasn’t enough gravy for two nevermind four! The cutlery couldn’t cut the meat or the vege - possibly because the food was that poor or maybe it was just cheap and blunt - regardless this is the last time we will ever attend this place. AVOID! AVOID! AVOID! Do not waste your money or time on this place. Did I mentioned the sweet machine takes your money and offers nothing in return and the dartboard is shoved against a wall?!

Reluctantly we popped in for drinks to meet friends here before a party nearby - as my last visit the Liver about 2 years ago it was grubby and in need of a good clean.

Had an amazing Christmas dinner here. Food was all on point can’t fault it. Great atmosphere threw out the day and evening. Service was faultless! Will definitely be returning again. Thank you to everyone who worked so hard

Paid 39.99 for a the worst Christmas dinner I have laid eyes on, 3 thin carrots no Yorkshire puddings, gravy like piss,when I complained the manager said I would be done for theft if i never paid! Terrible attitude never go near there again, stay clear,absolutely appalling.

Don't mind a trip to the liver for a pint or two, some nice ales and there is a great story associated with the liver hotel and a monkey that used to run along the wall, they used to do an ale tribute to the story. The old bowling green has been converted into a massive beer garden, proper sun trap. Shame they've stopped doing the stone baked pizzas, my fun belly loved them!

After a great walk along Crosby seafront taking in the" Antony Gormley sculptures ""Another Place" magnificent sight .we then retired to" Liver Hotel Bar"Top of South Road by the traffic lights.Two course meal £4.49 yes folks £4.49 this is not a misprint.Served by friendly &attentive; staff,all food served piping hot,and for the price plenty of it 24 people in our party no complaints.a great big thank you to the landlady not only for the service,but her lovely smile Car parking for large parties Ltd how ever drive down South Rd to the seafront Marine Terrace plenty of free parking.27/06 /18

Very disappointing terrible customer service, wrong food order, food we ordered not available and when discussed with management no apology was given or resolution offered. Won't be returning.

As we were staying just down the road we visited the hotel twice. The first ocassion was excellent with good service, good pub food and a friendly atmosphere. The second time the beer was bad, the service poor, people were smoking in the pub and the live music was not great.

This place is horrible with horrible management food was cold asked for refund which I didn't get as I was a woman on my own with two young children he would not refund me I will never go back again it was an absolute joke they advertise family pub i wouldn't let my dog eat in their the manager needs a personality transplant my advise stay away

Went for food and it came out cold and when we approached the manager his attitude was horrendous would never go back here and would advise people to stay well clear

Popped in here for a quick drink and lunch. Ordered a wrap here to be told it was out of stock. So I opted for a cheese and potato pie. We paid for this and they then came over and advised that was also out of stock. At this point I decided just to have a starter of garlic mushrooms and guess what out of stock! The only reason I stayed here is because there were 5 of us and everyone had ordered. The wait for food was incredibly long. Food pretty sub standard. One of our party also had the delight of standing in sticky chewing gum that was under the table. Unless you are just popping in for a drink I would avoid this place

I used to drink in this pub years ago before moving away for work. Upon returning to the area i decided to revisit my old local. I was shocked by the poor customer service especially from some guy with a beard who simply had no manners or people skills. The prices are what you would expect to pay in a premium bar and are certainly not justified. The atmosphere is dull and boring and it appears drug taking is rife in there with management even turning a blind eye. I will not be returning to this pub any time in the near future until there is drastic changes. Maybe the brewery needs to look into this.

Booked this hotel for a quick visit to see The Terracotta Army in Liverpool.

Called in to this pub after a few pints in south road nice old building and decor( will not be back ) £3.60 for a pint of Guinness which wasn’t a great pint. I called into Old Bank bank £3.20 nice pint, Champs £3.00 not bad and Parnells £2.50 nice pint, Stamps Too nice pint and atmosphere. spoke to a fella who just paid £4.60 !!!! For pint of IPA he also said he won’t be back.

Went my mum brother and kids could not believe how good it was can not believe what a lovely day and night we had staff brilliant food amazing recommend it

As it's been some time since I visited the Liver Hotel decided to go for lunch today. The pub is 300 years old and it is quirky and quaint. The service was excellent, even though there was only 1 person doing all the drinks and food. We had cod, chips and peas and it was wonderful, followed by the most delicious apple crumble and custard. The coffee is great and the atmosphere friendly,Can't believe the value for money. I will certainly be re-visiting.

The drinks are spot on, the service is spot on. Didn’t have anything to eat. But a massive let down in the loos. Both ladies and gents, by all accounts. I can only vouch for the ladies. They stunk of Tom cat pee and fish. There was no soap to wash your hands with and the dryer was more than useless. According to my husband, the gents stunk and needed a deep clean with a heavy bleach

My wife and I decided to go for a quick Sunday lunch at the Liver with her parents. The parents chose the beef roast dinner which was just bizarre when it arrived. It resembled something scooped out of a can and was described as "gloopy rubber" by the parents. I opted for the chicken roast dinner. My expectation as with all Sunday lunches was either a half roast of chicken or even a chicken breast but this was three or four dried out slices of chicken. The roast potatoes were white and not exactly "roast". All in all this was possibly the worst Sunday lunch I have had at a pub or restaurant...ever. If this was £4.99 and cheap then I could possibly understand this but at just under £8 then I cannot understand how this can be justified. I would avoid this place at all cost.

We came in here for lunch because we found out it was dog friendly and we were on holiday in Liverpool with our 2 e cleanlittle dogs. We ordered Melts which were lovely and quite well presented the lady that served us I think was called Barbara and she was very friendly and helpful. The actual Pub does seem to need a bit of TLC as its quite tired looking and in need of a lick of paint but on the whole quite clean.

It is situated in a great place with easy access. The food is not great though. The pub has so much character and is quaint but outside area, especially front is dirty and littered with rubbish. They need to employ someone to clean up regularly if bar staff are busy. Service at bar is very slow. There are better places nearby.

Cheap and cheerful half term late lunch in the massive beer garden with friends. What's not to like?

We live close by and always enjoy coming here. We had an amazing time here on Saturday watching Rodimus - a fantastic band!! Always a good atmosphere here!

If you like to sing and are looking for a jam night, that's the place. Also at the weekends they have great bands. I'm always there for a drink with friends or to play some pool. It's my favourite place in south road.

Nice traditional pub with a piano! Meals were two for a tenner and were acceptable for that price (not great though). Probably worth a visit but we won't be rushing back

Visited the Liver the other day, brilliant atmosphere, good beer, a really good traditional Merseyside pub. Well worth a visit.

Dropped in for a quick bite & a pint New Years Day lunch. I picked cheese & chutney sandwich and my girlfriend picked a fish goujon sandwich and a shared portion of chips. Just after we had sat down with our beer, a scruffy male kitchen hand came to say they had no white bread, only brown or wraps. We did not relish him making our butties, frankly! Brown bread butties arrived and the same man said they had no chips. Each plate had a bowl of black things. Seconds later a pleasant girl (who was clean & tidy) asked how our food was. We explained that we ordered chips but had two bowls of something which she said were sweet potato fries. She offered to change them but we said the male said they were no chips. We accepted her offer of a refund for the chips. My girlfriend's sandwich was fine. Mine was OK but chutney too sweet & had no tang. To top it all, the salad garnish was past its best, limp & brown round the edges. Totally yucky and to be avoided.
