Bakers Dozen in Sefton

I had been xmas shopping and finished the afternoon off at the pub for our evening meal with my family, we had Kim for our server l thought she was refreshingly friendly , helpful and eager to accomodate in the respect of making sure our small child had a high chair available to use. She pointed out early on that the pub restaurant would be closing early so that we had plenty of time to order our food. I asked Kim did she reccomend anything and she suggested the Lamb kofta wrap , which was very nice and I will have it again.We had excellent service from everyone on the night including Jill, Jack and Ant. I have only recently started going to the Bakers Dozen and I will return as it is so handy and a warm comfortable relaxed pub to be in, a good family pub. Thankyou to the staff on the night.

Came here for meal with the family for the first time, we were made really welcome and had a great time staff were really helpful and friendly we asked for some changes on the meals and they came exactly how we asked. Really great service from all the staff and our server Kim. Will be sure to come back soon

Stopped in for lunch whilst out shopping was served by a young girl called Kim .She was very informative and the meal was most enjoyable .It was quite busy but we were looked after very well .All staff seemed very nice.I would recommend and certainly return .Thank you. Marjorie Hannah and family.

Lovely evening meal before our cinema visit, staff attentive and helpful. Kim helped with describing the meals, nothing too much trouble. Genuine, smily and customer focused. Will definitely be visiting again soon.

Went for lunch very clean surroundings.The food we chose was excellent from a big menu .The staff were so polite especially Gill the manager who had time to chat and made us feel very welcome. So great service all round and we will be back .

A bit tired and in need of a upgrade.

AVOID!! If I could give it 0 stars I would. Place is run down and tired. Nearly always empty. Only one member of staff on the bar serving food orders. When asked if we could just order a drink the barman said 'get in the queue as he was the only one 'qualified' to serve.' Food not the best either, one time we went in for something to eat and the grill was broke. The landlord is a chauvinist. I was walking past the bar out of the pub the other day and he shouted at me 'i thought you were supposed to be washing the dishes out the back'!!! Who says that to a customer?? Absolutely vile man, he speaks to his staff with no respect either!! Never going to go in that pub ever again!

Had a table booked sat down and ordered once ordered and paid to be told 45 min wait then to be told extra 30 mins wait not very acceptable

We are all full from the food. My autistic son really enjoyed the food and our server Alex was very attentive and was really kind to my son. We will definitely be returning.

The experience was disappointing from the start, as we had to change tables due to an unbearable odor. The manager casually mentioned that someone had carelessly left a used nappy nearby in the past, treating it as a joke rather than a serious issue. To make matters worse, there were no napkins available, and the manager's attempt at humor fell flat while we waited over 30 minutes for dessert. It was evident that we weren't the only ones dissatisfied, as several other customers voiced their complaints about the food and the unpleasant smell. This establishment seems to be poorly managed.

It does good food at a great price an easy recommendation.

Visited here tonight with my friend, Amazing service from Alex, Corbin and Jill the manager. Definitely recommend visiting, all very friendly staff and make the experience visiting here enjoyable.

Seeing the reviews, me and my partner where unsure whether this hungry horse would be enjoyable. But showing up and meeting the staff, having the food abs the experience was actually pretty nice than expected. Food was fast, alright to eat and the staff were really friendly. The burgers where good and had loads to them.

Had a fantastic mixed grill cooked to perfection

Bar staff really helpful. Food delicious and really good value and server was also polite and helpful when asked for extra cutlery- we had the cheese/chicken combo to start and the curry & drink offer. All really nice

Pleasant service,food minimal,childs portions even. Lager overpriced at £4.30 a pint. (£3 half a mile away) never again.

Didn’t open till 11-15 am instead of 11am .Breakfast menu no longer available but they serve an all day breakfast for £8.95,absolutely disgusting,2 burnt pieces of bacon ,1 cheap tasting sausage,few baked beans ,5 tiny shrivelled mushrooms and 2 hash browns ,toast and tea were extra costs .Would definitely not recommend !

Amazing hostess Michelle was after a trip to the cinema. If I’m back in Liverpool sometime soon, I’ll definitely come back here for sure

Michelle was lovely, personable and made our experience joyous give her a pay rise. Only came for one drink after the cinema but her service meant we could stay for a few more

Ordered a 11oz steak with a peppercorn sauce. It was a decent portion for a reasonable price of about £13. The menu ranges from 5- 15 on average, with deals on for each day of the week.

Michelle have been fantastic. Very friendly and accommodating to us. Good place to chill and play pool with the lads and couple of drinks.

Had a lovely meal with my daughter. Kim, David and Kathy were attentive knowledgeable and friwndly. Food was lovely (thank you Michelle and Brooke)!

If you're going shopping in the retail park this is a good place to take a break. It's handy for Dunelm, B & M and Matalan. If I've got a choice I'll go and sit in here and watch TV instead of walking endlessly around the shops as my wife really enjoys shopping but I don't really. Judging from the number of men in there I think other husbands have the same idea as there were quite a few others in there. They have a good selection of food on the menu and a reasonable range of beers.

Popped in his evening and enjoyed a lovely meal - lovely food, very fast service with a smile, lovely friendly staff with a welcoming atmosphere! Would definitely recommend and look forward to visiting you again with family and friends.

Called to ask if the staff could give us water for my friends dogs. The staff sorry didnt catch their names went above and beyond supplying a container of water for the dogs. The staff were a credit to the pub very friendly and caring. A children’s party was taking place at the time and the children looked like they were having lots of fun a great atmosphere. A standard hungry horse. Food as you would expect but it was hot. Service was friendly. Ordered on the app and didn't get our drinks until we already had our meals

Me and three other friends were kicked out of the pub by a female staff member as we were under the age of 18 (we are all 16) despite being served by another member of staff who seemed to be completely fine with us eating there. We did not order any alcohol and had no intention to we had only gone to the pub for a few soft drinks, some food and a few games of pool. One of my friends had began to place money into the pool table for another game but we were then told by one of the staff members to not put any more money into the machine. As we had already placed money into the machine before being told not to, we asked the staff member if we could have our money back but she angrily declined and threatened to kick other customers out of the pub as well (the pub was virtually empty). The staff member then proceeded to call us disgraceful and wouldn’t give us a chance to try and kindly reason with her. The staff member was a blonde “middle-aged” female wearing a red polo shirt. Please display a sign that states that under 18s are not permitted without an adult as situations like this may happen again.

The restaurant is a-lot better than it used to be. I would recommend if you’re looking for somewhere cheap.

They were out of a lotbof things we ordered, and the alternatives weren't great. The place is looking very tired now and could do with a makeover.

The 2 staff members on the bar and serving food were really friendly and helpful. We had to wait an hour for our food which we weren't told when ordering, the pub wasn't busy. The child's meal was larger than the 3 adult meals we ordered. The burger meals were OK (with around 10 French fries) but the lasagne was half the size of a ready meal lasagne and burnt to a crisp. We've eaten in various Hungry Horse pubs in the past and they've always been decent, budget food but we won't be returning to this one.

turned up at 2030hrs on a Saturday night to be told the kitchen is closed, seems to be a thing in Merseyside, is it lazy kitchen staff or lazy waiters

the new manager and his staff welcomed us like we were old friends, Michelle and cath, couldn't do enough to help us. We will be back there many times more from now on. We've been coming here for years for family meals. It's cheap and cheerful. The menu is a typical pub menu with options for all, including vegetarian and vegan dishes. They have been short staffed the last few times we've been meant service times were longer. The staff are very friendly. The place could do with some redecorating. There is always plenty of free parking.

Not happy today. Highly inappropriate behaviour from new manager towards one of the longer serving staff members we know well.

Ordered Seabass the mash was disgusting tasted like it been done in a cement mixer veg wasn't cooked and cold. My daughter ordered the Katsu curry tasted like it been left in the attic for months covered in some unusual dust

Having come across this little gem of a 'hungry horse' on our journey home I'm glad we stopped by. Perfect service and friendly atmosphere just topped our day. Thanks so much for a lovely quadzilla burger and to Andrew for cheering us up and making us laugh. No hesitation to recommend this place.

Went on a Friday evening quite early. The place was empty yet the food took ages to arrive.

Unfortunately on the night I was there they said they couldn't serve food but never told me when ordering a drink . Disappointed

The atmosphere of the place is great solid interior and not too busy just how we like it, the food was ok I had some beans underdone but other than that big portions for super specials, the pitchers we ordered were lovely however second one came late but it was way bigger, I would recommend to try it once and if You like it come back

Dined here 20th April 2024....breakfast was brilliant..coffee delicious...staff were lovely...thank you ..the lady who cooked our breakfast...deserves a merit too. Really can't argue at the cost of our breakfast.

What's happened to this place used to be nice here, ok I haven't been for a couple of years but it's just gone down food is poor place could do with a complete makeover it's scruffy why let it go down so much before spending some money on it. One positive staff good

Very poor quality food and despite quiet long wait for it. Chips luke warm as were mushy peas. Fish was ok but much smaller portion than in Weatherspoons pubs. Won't go again not recommended!!!

Standard cheap pub fare. Wine is fine. Service good. Food is okay.

No fish and chips no gravey got coke in 2 wet glass that smelt of wet dog table was dirty had to get them to clean it and the seating area won't recommend it

The food has been excellent and the staff have always been helpful and polite.

Waited for so long for both main meal the dessert. No coffee machine as it was "going through it's cleaning process". No fish as the fish fryer was broken. However they were able to order scampi as the fryer was working. No atmosphere. No apology for the long wait. Would not recommend.

New managers first day. Very friendly and helpful. 2 for 1 breakfasts are a real treat. Great value for the price. This manager deserves a medal

Horrible customer service, food was freezing, instructions ignored, waiting for ages.

I had breakfast- The fried egg was way over cooked ( Any decent chef/cook can produce a decent fried egg 🤔) the beans looked tired and reheated and the sausage had definitely been in the fryer- it wasn't even busy while we were there so it shouldn't have been difficult to produce decent food 🤔 We certainly won't be going there again 🙄

Took 50 minutes for our food to come and when it did chips where only warm so some got sent back and refunded others was ok but nothing great very short staffed won't be returning

Decent pub. Friendly staff, with the typical Hungry Horse menu. It's a lot quieter than the other HH's in the area. Which sometimes is ideal.

Came in to eat. Every table table dirty ordered drinks, sat looking at menu. 25 mins later all the tables around us still dirty and untouched. Staff socialising and disinterested. Decided to eat elsewhere.

Would not recommend. Waited for a hour as no chef was in. Also food disgusting also food was very cold and very poor. Do not eat in Bakers Dozen.

As a family we love the Hungry Horse menu. Also tasty with plenty on your plate no matter what you order.

Just arrived at 5pm on a Friday with a dozen tables empty. The member of staff waiting on the floor walked past us as we arrived with a look of utter contempt. We sat ourselves on one of the clean tables which had a reservation notice on for 4pm but noone on the table. As I browsed the menu the same waitress walked past me and screeched at another member of staff out of earshot "No food orders unless their a booking." I turned to her to confirm food wasnt being served and she just replied not unless you've got a booking. We've had a crisis. So at this point I just responded well that was a waste of my time and left. Awful service and the pub would have been cleaner after a tornado.

Every table needed to be cleared when we arrived, despite restaurant only being 25-30% full. Waited 40 mins for mains, and when they arrived it was obvious that they’d been kept warm for a significant amount of time. Chicken had dried out and the tiny serving of ‘gravy’ had baked into the bottom of the jug. Nobody attended the table to ask whether we were satisfied/happy, suspect they probably knew what the answer would be. Overall very disappointing, particularly in terms of service.

Came along with my son and daughter for a birthday meal night.. Food was very nice indeed and the service was quick and efficient. Got a share dessert (Candy mania) and it was DIVINE!! Plenty for 2 maybe even 3! Prices and specials are reasonable especially when taking up the deal a day meals. Bar staff very friendly and only too happy to help and assist.. Very clean throughout Well done to all the team. Would recommend and looking forward to popping in over the Christmas period with friends this time.. See you soon!!

Had a baked potato had to send it back as it was warm. The salad was just leaves. The waitress changed my meal and made the salad a bit more exciting. The place is very uninviting and could do with a complete overhaul

Staff were great! Very friendly and were busy as there was a large group here at the same time, kept us up to date with when our food would be served etc. Food still came out in a timely manner. Everyone's food was correct and tasty.

I went here yesterday with my mum and brother. The queue to order was quite long and so I ordered on the app. Despite being really busy, our drinks and food arrived really quickly! The two guys who served us were really friendly and attentive and we couldn’t fault anything about our meals! Great service! Thank you!
