This is my first time here and it seems a lovely spot staff are busy with it being a Saturday. Beer garden is lovely. It’s busy as the weather is lovely. Car park is quite big so plenty of space. Good array of food and drinks and it’s an Ember inn too.

My friend and I spent a lovely couple of hours in the H&H last week. Rachel and the team are always welcoming, friendly and helpful. Our meals were really tasty and reasonably priced. We will definitely be back soon ☺️

The smell of the food when we arrived made us hungry and we weren't disappointed the rib beef roast was divine the beef dripping gravy whatever we ordered with the steak was the best ever and the size of the chicken breast covered in bacon and BBQ sauce was huge. The staff were very attentive and friendly we will be back

Extremely poor quality food thrown together on plate. Complaints met with excuses. Returned food as cold and uncooked, treated as inconvenience by disinterested staff. Don't bother going there!

Been before. This visit was for a birthday. Nice place, although cold with doors opening and shutting. No lasagne which is our grandsons favourite. Apart from this a good night.

Steak sandwich was dry Mac and cheese was cold was like they microwaved it after getting it out a freezer chips were so greasy garlic bread was barley garlicy not nice at all do not recommend

We were in hare and hounds last night from 6pm to 9pm. The first pint was fine but after that we were served beer in warm glasses which makes the beer flat and not enjoyable. It seems to be coming an issue of late.

I had the sausage and mash it was amazing my husband had the gammon was fabulous chips were lovely I would give it a 10/10 the bar staff a fantastic make you feel very welcome and there customer service is spot on very friendly you need to come and try the food fantastic

Delicious lunchtime special and great value for money! Only ordered ham egg and chips for a quick bite… fabulous service and lovely thick cut gammon! No cheap packet ham!

Been there today Lovely food and friendly staff shame that a man on his own jut with a drink spoiled it . He sat next to a family all enjoying lunch and this disrespectful man had his phone on so loud watching videos it was rediculous so rude we felt so uncomfortable with the noise and we were 3 tables away from him.

Had my mums wake in here. Lovely understanding staff on booking and attentive staff on the day.

Place is getting worse, Yes it's cheap pub food but it's failing to reach this low bar...no pun intended. We are crossed this off our list of local places to grab our lunch/tea

As a regular to this pub the food is always great and service is always friendly and quick. I would recommend visiting this pub. Rachel the assistant manager is extremely good at her job.

Good atmosphere - Colin the manager is very attentive and hard working nothing is to much trouble for him. A nice pub to unwind and relax

Would be a zero for all if possible, booked a table for 12 people in advance, paid a deposit and also let them know the food order in advance, on arrival we had to wait half an hour because our table wasn't ready, waited 1 and a half hours in total for our food only for it to be the worst kibble ever handed up to us, everyone of us were shocked and disappointed with the food and lack of service, some went home hungry because their meal was not edible, totally destroyed our family gathering, we were regulars at one time but won't be returning again.

Phoned in advance to see if they were doing roast dinner ~ yes we are. My partner didn’t fancy roast dinner so ordered fish and chips, I wanted the duo roast but not with gammon but with beef (which was also a Sunday lunch option). There is no way on the system that you can have a chicken and beef and pay extra. The gammon had the biggest bit of fat on it and was overcooked and more purple than pink. Roast potatoes ~ the best bit, nope they were frozen cooked roast potatoes. My partners fish and chips was swimming in grease, we patted the fish down with two paper serviettes which were sodden with grease and the fish was still ouzing grease out when you pressed a fork Down on it. Nobody asked how our food was despite staff members walking past and the place half empty and we’d lost the will by then. My partner was starving so home we have come to cook dinner. We won’t be back.

The service was exemplary and the waiters were fantastic. The staff are a credit to your organisation. We all loved the food and will definitely come back. Thank you for having us

Visted the hare and hounds on Friday the 8th of March as I am being taken there on mother's day only to find no Guinness, smirnoff, madri or brandy Hopefully things will be resolved by mother's day

Yet again a wonderful experience. Food beautifully cooked & hot. Staff are always polite & respectful to us ‘Seniors’. Today we had the lovely Rachael looking after us, she is so cheerful & always helpful. We come here for lunch every Thursday & really cannot fault it. Thanks Rachael & all the staff xxxx

Well, this was the very first pub I frequented - in 1972 as a 16-year old !! After 3 Brown Bitters and a Rum & Black I was anybody's :-) It was a great place back then and I'm delighted to see it lives on. Maybe I'll get the chance to visit one more time next time I'm in the UK before the reaper comes a calling.

Had the Sunday roast delicious very good portion size and plenty of gravy at no extra cost!

First time visiting this pub for all of us. Nice enough atmosphere and the food was OK. The best part about our lunch was the desert. A female member of staff couldn't be bothered to get an extra bowl for the pasta for my friends toddler. She said "the kitchen is too far and we don't cater for children"! If the pub doesn't cater for children, then I wonder why the pub has high chairs specifically for children 🤔 🙄 Customer service is key and I can only put it down to the fact that the female member of staff didn't want to deal with my interacial couple and their children. Such a shame. Picture is of the Apple Pie with caramel sauce with vanilla ice cream 🍦 would we visit again, we'd think about it.

Lovely local pub but food has always been awful which is a shame as we Love visiting, booked for new year knowing food wouldn’t be much but was somewhere close to home to enjoy NYE. Staff pleasant worked really hard but so many of choices of drinks where unavailable as they ran out of everything even pressecco and limited cocktails disappointing on such a special evening

Good food, great service , boss pub

Wouldn't rush back. Food very average, 3 of us wanted steak, failed to tell us on arrival, there was no beef. Chicken tiki less than minimal, cold plate. the chicken a friend had was dry. Had a time clock on the table which we weren't aware of, so lost time waiting for our table, but next booking arrived, so had to get off . Overall, would have cooked way better at home. Very Diss pleased.

Service really poor and the food was so bad we hardly touched it

Booked in for a festive dinner. Must say the food was excellent for a pub meal and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. Manager recommended the beef rib and it was delicious. Good selection of Gins of which I tried a few oops.

Nice pub, always busy. Food usually ok but this time it was awful. The burger was rock hard and cold, cold chips, all sent back. Alternative offered but didn't risk it so went hungry. Vegans paid for a full meal but only got burger and salad, no chips so they were left a bit hungry. We've decided to still go for drinks but not food

Went to a charity evening to support Mens Mental Health. A great evening superbly organised by Molly, ably assisted by Cad and AJ. Huge amount of money raised and a great night had by all. Fab entertainment provided and we are blown away by the generosity of local people and businesses for the support they have shown.

The food was great when we have been over past few months. No complaints and new menu has some great items on it. Staff are lovely and happy to help.

This is walking distance from my home so I pop in now and again. Always has a nice atmosphere, mixed age clientele, friendly service.

My friend & myself come here every Thursday for lunch, we have been doing so for quite some time now. Pub always spotlessly clean & at the moment very cosy, lovely fires on the go & heating on also, unlike other pubs! The food is always spot on, never had an issue with it. Atmosphere lovely, made more so by the girls & boys doing the waiting on, bar etc. I’m unsure of all their names but today we had the very pleasant & friendly Charlie, who took the time out to make sure that we had everything we needed & that all was well with our food. Thank you Charlie you made two Silver Seniors ladies very happy. 👍😁

Went on Saturday night as a party of four. Had booked table online and asked for table by fire as a member of party not too well. We arrived and had table near the fire but informed the fire hasn't worked for 2 years!!! We had the draught from the door all night and had no heating. All of us cold. Table not set just cutlery for all of us placed on a corner of table. All meals were small portions and lukewarm. I sent my meal back which was Surf & Turf - over £16. It was just not hot enough. It came back, my steak was cremated, 2 dried up prawns and chips inedible. Asked for cappuccino's and got instant coffee as coffee machine broke. Our bill with our drinks came to over £140.00 Evening was totally spoilt for a meal with 2 members of our family who we hadn't seen for awhile and thought it would be a nice get together. Disgusting😩

Popped in for a family Christmas lunch, there was 6 in our party, service was great, all meals where served promptly, we were not rushed. Lovely afternoon we couldn't fault it. Charlie was very helpful and came to the table to take our order and regularly made sure we where happy with our orders.

Had a fantastic Christmas Dinner yesterday. Excellent choice and really good value for money. The best part was the table service by a young man called Charlie. Could not do enough for us and made our family meal o e to remember !

Staff amazing and welcoming to our party of 12 ladies. Food great and hot but carrots and parsnips needed more cooking. Otherwise it was all great. Colin and Charlie were always there to look after us.

Nice decor/ambience but not particularly warm to sit for an hour or more. Food was nice but items were missing off the plates. 2 fried eggs were missing of the mixed grill and tabbouleh and feta cheese were missing off the med style roasted veg salad. Although staff apologised, they didn't appear particularly bothered and put the onus on us to have mentioned it sooner! Surely the onus is on the chef to check all the ingredients are on the plate or the staff to come and ask if everything is alright early on and not some time after we had finished. If we had got up and had to go to the bar to complain, then our meals would be going cold. No offer of a discount in the price. We had to pay for things we didn't receive which isn't good customer service!

Went for a family meal as we had visited a year ago and had a great meal. Unfortunately that wasn't the case this time. Food was luke warm at best. Children's pizza was a small microwave pizza, cold and soggy in the middle. Mentioned it when the plate was taken away still full and it was shrugged off. Roast potatoes where so hard you couldn't cut into, vegetarian roast was probably one of the worst I have had. Soggy boiled potatoes that grim. Best thing was the side of cauliflower cheese because it was actually warm! Apple crumble was soggy and the crumble was damp somehow. Won't be returning. What a shame, should have cooked at home and saved my money.

Waited an hour and a half for food as apparently the chef had walked out.no kitchen staff except 1 chef on his own with full pub as offer of 50% off mains sent out to registered parties.gave up asked for refund as our meal at this point was still not even started!!! We were not updated by any staff member about any issues were only told why meals not coming out when we requested our money back.

Only issue was the wait. I was informed before I ordered, but they should've said no. I waited 45 mins for my starter, then a further 1 hr for my main course. Food was excellent, beer was reasonably priced, pub was immaculate, service was excellent. Only spoiled by the waiting. Better to have lost a potential customer than to serve one who won't be happy.

Visited the Hare and Hounds yesterday evening for my fathers-in-law’s birthday. The food was very pleasant - our party of 9 were very happy with the quality and cost of the meals. The service we received was exceptional. Charlie, who took our order and served our drinks was very helpful and friendly. An excellent night.

Popped in for a meal with family. All meals where served promptly and relay good value. Couldn't fault it. Barman Kads was helpful and came to the table to make sure we where happy with our order.

The young girl who took our order at the bar .. typed in our order in on the 31/10/23 quite aggressively and felt like we being rushed .. so much so I typed my pin in wrong 3 times causing much embarrassment the card is not blocked and we are going to have to go to the bank to sort this out today!! The young girl just didn’t have any customer service skills.Once the food was brought to the table 1 of the Fish & Chips had been missed off although we clearly stated 2 Fish & Chips with a side of chips !! the young girl in front of my family said” You only ordered 1” my response was to her was “ you mustn’t have heard us right we definitely ordered 2” by this time she was clearly hacked off with this situation and her angry face said it all .. goodness knows what she had said to the people working in the kitchen … it was most unprofessional and made us all feel very uncomfortable which is a terrible shame as we’ve had many a pleasant meal and lovely service here…. but these experience left us with a bad taste in our mouths!!! such a shame !!

Found myself in the area and thought I’d pop in for a pint and a burger. Solid choice and had a good chat with the manager Colin. Gave off a real community focused vibe. Will definitely be visiting again

It's always been a popular bar/restaurant. Good food although not a great vegan option. The staff are spot on and it's very clean. Well worth a visit and plenty of parking spaces.

Asked for a roast diner, no roast diner left…ordered (and paid) for 2 tikka masala. Then they came to tell us that there is only one left. Ordered a veggie one to replace but after a long wait we got a tikka and a beef one. It was a long wait for a poor choice of food and very poor quality. Very disappointed, we won’t be going back.

The food was very nice, hot, and served quickly (within 20 minutes) I'm not however a fan of staff eating at the tables among the customers, just doesn't look good, plus, paying customers don't want to hear your work chatter whilst dining. This is why most establishments don't allow staff to dine in the same area as customers, however, I'm not sure what your company policy is on this, I will seek clarification from head office.

Came to our local to celebrate my Husbands 60th birthday. Staff lovely as usual and food really nice.

So I came here on a Friday night with my friends and my friend has short achillles tendons so (he walkes on his tip toes) and my other my friend was on crutches from a motorbike injury and chose not to drink and hadn't had a drink prior and people in the bar were saying "he can't even walk straight, he's had a drink" and "the guy on cruches shouldn't be drinking" quite confusing! our while group had to leave the bar, the bar staff were quick to take the view of customers to exclude me and my friends from the bar because we were in judged as troublesome 20 somethings in maghull, in a traditional pub we were asked to leave. I think their groupthink prejudice views leave much to be answered for, I would advise that customers drive on when looking for a reputable maghull pub.

Food was shocking, we sent it back

We love this pub. The beer garden is dog friendly and there is a lovely atmosphere inside and out. The staff are very friendly and helpful, especially Kads who made sure we had a good time from start to finish. We recently went for Sunday lunch and the food was all great and there’s a great kids menu.

Really disappointed in this as it used to be a really nice pub meal. Last meal we had we ordered on the app as we sat outside. The food came before the drinks and we waited well over 45 minutes. Mate ordered a drink and they didn’t have it on the menu and when his food come he got given the wrong order so asked for a refund. We all agreed we wouldn’t eat here for a while till it improves 👍
