The best restaurants serving British food in South Lakeland North West

Ate here on a Tuesday evening. The bar staff said there would be a 40 minute wait on food which was fine but ended up being 55 mins. The food wasn’t the best. I had the game burger and my father had the lambs liver - not what you’d expect for the price. Really disappointed.

Enjoyed a very delicious breakfast this morning with beautiful poached eggs, lots of seating available and the cakes looked incredible. Only moan is the disgusting smell in the ladies toilets, I guess there is a problem with the drains, so bad I nearly saw my breakfast again.

Great food as usual, shame had to listen to both background music in the dining area and a conflicting radio blaring from the kitchen. Either turn the kitchen radio down or close the door 🤬

Amazing fish and chips. Some of the best fish and chips I ever had.

We visited the pub on the off chance while looking for a late lunch. After reading the reviews I was slightly concerned and wasn’t sure what to expect however we were not disappointed. The steak pie was delicious and the flavour of gravy was wonderful. Would definitely recommend

This hotel situated in prime position on the square is such excellent value for money . We had a delightful room with all we required catered for ,excellent clean room . Thoughtful layout too . The staff and management could not have been more helpful in every way including going out of their way to provide us with lunch late. in the afternoon when all the cafes had closed . A really pleasant stay will definitely return as soon as possible . Thank you Lindsey

A very welcome cup of tea after a rather wet day of walking. The owner was welcoming and very kindly let me wait in the tearoom for my lift. They seem to have a good selection of things to eat and drink. Recommended.

Stopped at the Plough yesterday for a drink and then booked for Sunday lunch. Lovely pub and food unfortunately the staff looked liked like they couldn't be bothered. Especially the older Italian gentleman. There was not even a how is your day or a hello. On holiday here wouldn't go back. Such a shame

I've been there 6 times, satisfied every time. I recommend a great place to relax, away from civilization, peace and quiet.

First few times I've tried here it's been nice but the last few times I've had carbonara pasta it has been so bland, the man behind the counter had dirty hands as well not good for health & hygiene 🤢🤢 It just put me right off

Staying nearby overnight, we were recommended this place for a meal and it didn’t disappoint. We weren’t booked in and we had a labrador with us, not a problem - we can seat you upstairs. The food was very good, beer even better, and the building and views fantastic. Wouldn’t hesitate to return here if or when we are in the area again.

Mexican pop up night at Pig & Whistle! Tastyyyy. Definitely going to return for the normal Pub food as the menu looks great!

An extended family get-together from North of Scotland to Somerset. Well worth the long distances. Good rooms, good food and, in particular, the friendly and efficient staff. Great location and easy parking. Would recommend strongly.
