Had a lovely evening here. Very diverse menu, covering different tastes. Had salads with soft boiled eggs for starters. Hubby's was brussel sprouts & tasted lovely. I had the beef onglet for main & Roast Cod for hubby. Absolutely gorgeous 😍
Then the trio of desserts for him & ice cream for me. Couldn't fault anything. The atmosphere was lovely. Service was unbelievable. All food came to the table quickly & with a smile. We had a bottle of New Zealand red, which was Lush.
Would definitely come back & and recommend it to anyone. A really lovely evening.

Visited in mid-February on the back of a recommendation. The setting is lovely, car park is "Compact and Bijou!" and the bistro itself is very stylish.
Our waiting staff were excellent, not too pushy, very pleasant, and helpful.
The whole party were blown away by the starters. Hummus, seafood Dahl, winter salad and souffle were all absolutely spectacular. The dhal was probably the best thing I have eaten in a restaurant in over a year.
Because of the quality of the starters we had very high hopes for the main... Which were not met for any of us.
They were not awful, or even bad, but just "kind of ok" in each case.
Rarebit and Jamaican dish were not great, my Jambalaya was ok, and the honey mustard chicken was the most highly rated amongst us.
The Jambalaya was listed as containing lobster bisque and I could not detect any seafood or lobster flavour at all. The spots of chimichurri sour cream were also lacking lustre and added nothing to the dish. The haddock batter was not crispy... The roasted sweet corn sauce and pickled onion rings were great and really stood out in what I felt was a bland dish which I had expected more of.
We decided against ordering puddings.
I would consider eating here again if I'm in the area, but might choose 2-3 starters over a starter and main.
My absolute favourite bakery whilst in Ambleside (Lake District) I popped in this morning before a hike for two ridiculously amazing pistachio croissants! Also had one of their delicious cappuccinos. Dawn who took my order was an absolute hero. She even treat my dog to some doggy biscuits whilst we waited. Dawn, thank you for you cheerful personality which set us up for a very positive day in the fells. Hopefully will catch you again the next time we visit, as Dennis dog never forgets a face (someone that gives him treats :)
We noticed this cafe when heading into Ambleside and decided to give it a whizz for a coffee and a snack…. What a great find, lovely and clean, comfortable atmosphere and great views. As a lover of pistachio lattes I was not disappointed 😊 and the fruit bread really hit the spot - thank you xx
We were delighted to get a walk in here and sit on stools on half a table. The staff were friendly, helpful and professional, explaining the menu to us. As advised, we went for 2-3 dishes each, including some of the starter range. For those we went for Masala Pad Pad and Dahi Puri. They were a far cry from what you would get in a standard curry house in both presentation and flavour. We were absolutely bowled over by the range of tastes. To follow we picked a variety of mains with different principal ingredients and put with these a garlic paratha and basmati rice. We both absolutely loved the explosion of flavours and the combination of ingredients. Portions were generous. I enjoyed a glass of Austrian red wine, also a new experience. The restaurant is thoroughly deserving of the Casual Dining Award it recently achieved in Cumbria. Highly recommended in all respects.
Actually looking at massively rude responses from these *owners* I'm very glad I didn't order any thing more. Most of All the Good reviews are written about previous owner and that's why people think this is a good place to go. But clearly from the really terribly rude replies to any of the reviews that demonstrates a concern for its quality and customer service is replied with awful rudeness.. Based on the replies to reviews alone. If you have any sense. I'd give this place a wide berth... And find somewhere else where you are not verbally abused by the staff. Who wants to give money to people like that?
Thank god it was just a coffee.

Just called in for a bar snack and a great pint of Lakes Brew Pale Ale. First class friendly service, quality newspapers to read, plenty of room ~ 14:20 Friday afternoon. There seems to be enough on street parking for everyone.
We ate here twice in two days. The food is excellent. The owners and staff are very welcoming and friendly. We particularly recommend the soups, but it was all superb. Good value for money

Went on a Friday evening and myself and the arm candy had a couple of Mythos and the Oddessy platter, gyros, souvlaki, spicy greek sausage, french fries and salad, what's not to like
Lovely pub, great place to stay. Rooms clean and comfortable, great bathroom and shower. Dog friendly, good pub food and friendly atmosphere. Will be back!
Absolutely fantastic stay at this hotel. Close to all amenities and bowness just around corner. It does need a update but for location and price i could not fault it.
Staveley chippy is one of the best we’ve been to. Very tasty food and great service. Elliott and his staff are always friendly, smiley and professional. It’s very much part of the Staveley community. The pizzeria next door is amazing too!
