Managed to get along in time during the evening window on a weekend, constant stream of people and fresh food. Staff very friendly and good atmosphere while short wait for food. Long time since I had fish and chips so crisp and fresh.

Excellent and very well priced fish and chips. The staff are friendly, food is cooked to order, fish batter nice and light, chunky chips and thick pieces of fish. We drive here from Far Sawrey as they are seriously the best in South Lakes and no tourist prices.

Great chippy. Fish-cake was probably the best fish cake I’ve ever had. Breaded and fried right in front of you. Insanely crispy coating and soft and fluffy on the inside. Flavours were spot on - the feta and dill worked really well in there. You’d struggle to get a fish cake that good in most restaurants. Would recommend 👌 Reasonably priced too and they’re always friendly in there!

Cant complain about the food as its fab but.. They need to update their website. It says on their website it was open so my daughter walked down in the freezing cold to find that it was closed, this has happened more than once. Update your website please with the correct opening times to avoid annoyance to your customers. I wouldve given a top result on this place if it wasnt for this.

We were staying in Kentmere for the weekend and this was the nearest village with shops/ food outlets (around 15 minute drive from Kentmere). We enjoyed the chips so much that we had it twice in one weekend. The menu has a number of Veggie options available which look good although we didn’t try these.

Called en route to an overnight stay in Windermere from Blackpool. I had looked beforehand for a good chippy near to our hotel and this one stood out. We were not disappointed. We were an extended family of 15 staying locally, emailed Staveley Chippy to ask if they could accommodate us. They asked for a pre-order from their menu which we sent and collected it as they opened on a Saturday night. They were finishing off cooking the order as we were early. Every one of the family commented on the delicious fish and how they had enjoyed the meal with tubs of curry sauce and mushy peas. Delicious and we highly recommend it.

First class, top restaurant quality fish and chips and the homemade tartar sauce was amazing. Friendly staff who care very much what they do we can’t wait to go back

Staveley Chippy is the best chippy in southern lakeland at the moment. It did have one or two pretentious rivals; but they have slipped significantly. There are quite a few second-division chippies in the area that provide very good food consistently and can be proud of their efforts. Indeed running a chip shop does need dedication; and the chip shops of Kendal and Windermere are very good, with just a couple of exceptions. They are all trying their hardest; and Staveley has the edge, definitely.

Fantastic streamline service in a well run popular local chippy. Friendly staff and great price. Would recommend to anyone visiting the area.

Really good chips. We were there for the Staveley 5K race and had some chips afterwards. Top tip, a small chips is quite enough for 1 (it's a big portion). The place is open at odd hours, often not when we're passing by on a Sunday, so it's nice when it is open. I've not given it 5* as it doesn't serve mayo or ketchup in free squeezy bottles by the counter. You have to buy these separately in plastic sachets, which is both a complete rip-off (40p) and very eco-unfriendly (they only take 450 years to decompose). C'mon Staveley Chippy, get with it and provide some squeezy bottles.

This is our 4th time staying in Staveley, The times on previous ocassions we did not get to experience this special treat. When we go away Trip Adviser is always my first port of call. I took a look on Wednesday 15th Feb and we agreed to go experience this lovely chippy on Saturday night = TODAY. Around 6pm, I telephoned the chippy to make sure they were open and I ordered 2 Standard Haddock with mushy peas and a larger portion of chips. We asked for them around 7.30pm and they were super hot, just made and we got them home quick to taste the wares.. WOW! When I find a Gold Standard Service and product, I willingly share the info with others. I love the lakes and there are 3 or 4 Top Standard Fish and Chip Shops in and around KENDAL, WINDERMERE, ARNSIDE,ETC. We love them all, but I tell you the STAVELEY CHIPPY, WITH QUALITY, FRESHNESS, OVERALL SERVICE IS GOLD STANDARD. The chips were light brown in colour, crispy, soft and tasty and the gorgeous Haddock was big, MEATY nd CRISPY,thin battered and fresh and the peas were traditional seeped, soaked MUSHY PEAS. I cant tell you how delicious and wonderful this chippy is. A little treat with a full traditional, uncomplicated menu. 10 STARS I GIVE IT! Try for yourself, wherever you travel from, you will not be disapointed, telephone first as hours are shorter in winter and extend by season. A GUILTY SECRET AND BY JIMINY, THEY ARE THE MASTERS AND WHATS MORE THE PRICE WAS REAL GOOD TOO! UNDERSOLD, UNDER HYPED AND FRIENDLY WARM WELCOMING STAFF! Unfortunately the chips let them down, they’re hard and like scraps. On a positive note the fish is pleasant but the size of the small fish is poor value for money.

I get fish and chips every week from Staveley Chippy. I also get them for my neighbours. I phone my order through, state the time I would pick them up. Never have to wait more than 10 min. Excellent food, Best chippy around this area.

Been eating fish and chips here for many years, tried all the others in Bowness, Kendal and Windermere, and it's without doubt the best in the area for service, freshness and a good traditional takeaway chippy.

Handy chippy close to the A591 between Windermere and Kendal, plenty of street parking, well cooked traditional fish and chip takeaway, fish and chicken all good, much cheaper than nearby Lake prices.
