Go in here every time we visit Bowness.. Don't always buy anything but I love browsing and looking at the lovely array of goods available. Reasonable prices.

This is a great place to grab a gift. Plenty of different thing available. Staff were friendly.

Gift shop right by the lake with a good selection of souvenirs. I'm a fridge magnet man myself and I'm quite fussy about them. I found one that I liked, so it's an automatic five stars from me. Wasn't too expensive either for what I bought. A lot of these other reviews about food are mistaking it for the restaurant of the same name a few doors down.

The overall experiemce was okayish. The food was bland. Extremly tasteless fish with good fries. The price and extra 15% charges of service fee was not worth the experience. The view was good as it near the lake and in front of main attraction. but the food taste could have been more better instead of bland.

Always pop in when visiting Windermere lots of stock that gets changed every time we attend

Great place and interesting goods

To start with ordering food from this place was confusing as anything certainly not worth the price either. I went for chicken and mushroom pie it was like cardboard and no filling and I didn't enjoy it, I got a Latte that was just under 3 quid and came from a machine that was a rip off and was luke warm. When they shout your number from the kitchen hatch you can't understand what they are shouting and the older woman handing the food out was so rude. Props to the girl out front she was very informative and helpful as it was my first time visiting.

Great food, best chips I've tasted in a while.

We have tried most of the Fish & Chips restaurants in this area. This was not the best. We called in one wet & windy Sunday afternoon & was very disappointed. The service was very quick & we had decided to eat in car. They were cold & fish was rubbery. Award Winning mmmm not for us on this occasion.

Nice fresh tasty fish. Hot chips and the added bonus of tartae sauce and mushy peas, all for £7.50, what's not to like. Well worth the money and great tasting food.

This has to be 1 of the best chippies around, far from the cheapest but extremely good, I wouldn't usually do a review on a take away but this is very good indeed

Visited on one of the most miserable rainy days sat under the covered area and had fish chips and peas and a cuppa fish and chips were to die for the best we have had in a long time I even complimented the owner on her superb food highly recommended don't miss this chippy if you are in bowness.

Love this fish & chip shop we visited on a very wet day and they have outdoor Canopy seating with self controlled heating. We didn't wait long for food and everyone enjoyed their food. Can't complain. We always visit when we come to Windermere.

Bland. Small soggy fish and dried out chips. We got end of the line stuff, not fresh at all... small portion and very expensive... 15% to sit inside an unfinished seating area. Porter loo was filthy and hand washing broken. Would NOT recommend.

OMG.. this is the worst place I have ever come across. They make it sound so good, but it's just a 2nd rate chippy. I ordered a gourmet pie with hand cut chips, mushy peas and gravy. I had hardly sat down when it was ready.. a basic pie with a handful of chips ,a small pot of peas and small pot of gravy.. and JUST a wooden fork.. nothing else. STAY AWAY.. THERE ARE MUCH BETTER PLACES

This is a great place to have your fish and chips there are plenty of tables undercover, you can order at the front of the shop and you can either take a seat inside or take away. We opted to sit at one of their outside/ undercover tables which is great as it keeps the birds away from your food unlike one of the other fish and chip places along the lakes edge at Bowness. The food at Driftwood is very nice and the staff are really friendly and helpful and the place is kept clean and tidy I recommend this place and would definitely go here again 👍

Not sure about award winning fish (especially for the price) ....food was mediocre at best, they charge you extra to sit and eat their own food, seating area smells and is full of flies

Really lovely freshly cooked fish and chips. The oil was clearly good quality and fresh as no residual taste you sometimes get with old oil. Also one of us had the Cumberland sausage in the bap and really enjoyed it. I have lived in various coastal locations and this is amongst the best fish and chips I have ever had.

Fish was ok . But Oil was dripping from the chips we ordered and the picture I posted was the replacement one .😅 Nuggets : Hard.chewy.cardboard taste probably it was old stock and fried the cold ones again. Definitely not for kids ..

Lovely little fish and chip restaurant. Can either sit in or take out. Plenty of seating, friendly staff. Reasonable prices considering the location. Have a great selection of pies too, which were lovely. Order and pay, then they shout your order number to collect your food.

Very tasty fish and chips at a competitive price (£7.75) for the location (Lake Windermere). We ate once and then decided to come back the next day for more. They give you a 10% off next time coupon on the refresher tissue packet. Their fish and chips is cooked completely separately to meat products. We are on holiday in the area and plan to have fish and chips from there again! The only negative point about their fish and chips is that the size of their portions are not consistent. Sometimes their portions are large and filling, while at other times they are very small. We have eaten 3 times from there in the space of just a week.

A great place to have Fish and Chips. Lives up to its 5 Star rating. Fish/Chips are freshly cooked for you which make for an enjoyable feast.

Delicious and good size portions.Read menu then go the far left down fewsteps then order food and pay.You will be given a small ticket with a number on.Return to your table then wait for your number to be called out then go and collect boxed food.They do takeaway too.They regularly clean the tables after each use.👍

Awful experience. I purchased 2 boxes for chips just before they closed. A family were in front of me and we were asked to wait at the collection point. After 10 minutes the manager came out to close and the family asked about their order. The manager asked them for their order number but they didn't have it. He was aggressive and said 'no number, no food' for a moment I thought he was joking but he was totally serious. The family objected and he told them again that they wouldn't receive anything. I interjected and said that their number must be 1 less than mine but he wasn't interested. Finally, the family found their ticket and he rudely said that they go ro the collection point for their food. When I got mine it was bland and did not include everything I'd ordered. AVOID AVOID AVOID.

Outside area, very clean and well controlled. Disappointing fish bites, more like small nuggets not much fish mostly batter. Good service, pleasant surroundings.

Superb! Stopped here on the way to our boat trip. Great fish and chips, great outdoor seating area, excellent service... No queues, they've got it all nailed down order and pay up front, then collect and take back to your table, and enjoy straight from the box... perfect. You can see and taste why they call it award winning.

Without a doubt, the worst fish and chips I have ever eaten. Soggy batter, unbelievably dry cod tasted like it had been cooked 3 times after a month in the freezer and totally uneatable. Chips were cold and were like bullets. I did eat the mushy peas, which were passible. I can only imagine that the people that gave a good review for the fish must be realated to the owners. I wish I could give it zero stars.

Fresh cod and chips, good food at a good price. We were a group of six and had attentice service from staff. Unfortunately the temporary builder's toilet is awfully uncomfortable, although they did clean it for us without making a fuss.

The smell of fresh fish and chips dragged us in I was a little disappointed with the portion size but after tasting them I realised they were one of the best fish and chips I had had in a long time not dripping in oil the fish was litly battered and beautiful. Really enjoyed them and very nice to eat in too.
