Been to this place twice while I was working in Barrow in Furness, 10/10 for crispy batter on the XL Cod ,pity I live 87 miles away

Sublime meal. Highly recommended.

Very accommodating, freshly cooked fish and chips, lashings of salt, just how I like...friendly.

The fish and potatoes were very delicious but the boy who served me was too serious. I think he lacks a little charisma, especially with foreigners.

Ordered from here a take away got back to the campsite and realised half of the order was missing called to ask could we go and collect to be told no the order isn’t there so we must have ate it like we r stupid would not recommend this place

Very disappointing meal. The haddock was so overcooked it resembled shoe leather whereas one of our pieces of cod was raw in the middle. The batter however was the best.

Fish chips and panco prawns were brilliant along with the curry sauce. Wasn't a fan of the Yorkshire fishcake. That's not to say it wasn't nice. Being from the home of the fried mars bar it's purely a preference. In no way a complaint. Plaice was spotless clean and the staff were very pleasant and Friendly. Good wee fish and chips shop.

On holiday in ulverston staying at Lowflan glamping pods. Came to get our dinner tonight and very impressed. Clean inside and we ordered 2 × fish and chips and 2 jumbo sausages and chips and two curry sauces. Really tasty and nice. Best fish and chips I've had in a while. Would highly recommend to anyone on holiday and looking for a fish and chip shop 😋

Visited for the first time today as in the area looking to buy a static holiday home. We were not disappointed very friendly service, great tasting fish and chips cooked to order. Easy parking and some outside seating. Looking to buy on a site just down the road so hopefully we will soon become regulars.

Visiting and found a gem, free parking, outside picnic benches, great views over Ulverston cricket ground. Great start that just got better ordered fish&chips.fish cooked fresh batter crispy perfect best we have had Ulverston you are LUCKY

Turned up at 7.20pm after a large chips 40 minutes before they close, to be told they were closing (time on door says they close at 8pm), but sadly, they would not serve up. Had food here previously, although expensive quality was OK. I won't be returning.

I went today, for a meal was shocked at the price but thought I've had them from here before and it was nice..but today was awful so we ended up throwing it in the bin. Chips were terrible so I won't be going back.

While staying in Ulverston to review several fish and chip shops in Cumbria, I noticed on Google that Priory Place Fish and Chips was nearby, so I decided to visit, and I'm glad I did. The building is stand-alone, with eight parking spaces, one of which is disabled. Local tradesmen were coming and going, which is often a good sign. Upon entering, it was clean, tidy, and modern. The staff was smiling and polite. I spotted Yorkshire fishcakes on the menu and had to try one. It was delicious—nice big slices of potato with a thick fillet of fish in between, deep-fried in a tasty batter. The cod and chips were excellent, too, served with a slice of lemon, as were the cheese savoury and curry sauce. This is a gem of a place and a credit to the owner and staff. Pronounced Priory Plaice, not Priory Place, as in Tripadvisor. The x large cod is amazing, the chips aren't great,but the fish is awesome. Good service

Very expensive and use the excuse they are " renewing their price board". Disappointing because their food is good.

Their car park was nice, spacious and free! I wasn't the one to order so can't tell how service was but the atmosphere was very nice. The food was amazing ( I had the chicken bites ) but the chips weren't the nicest that i ever had.. maybe not the best season for potatoes though.

Ordered Haddock and Chips for the first time from here but unfortunately there was only as much actual fish as in a Fish Finger and was simply all batter. The Chips 50% were small end off cuts and far to crunchy. Therefore will be driving into Ulverston from now on.

Excellent Fish and Chips, really tasty with great chips. Worth the drive to go and get it! Mushy peas were good too with a pinch of salt. They had bottles of vinegar available to purchase too.

Not a good experience! The fish portions were meagre, the fish was dry and the chips!!! How can you ruin chips like that? They were hard and chewy. The peas were ok.

Small portion compared to other local fish n chip shops. Batter nice. Fish under cooked in middle, chips also hard and under cooked. Curry sauce powdery and thin. Also expensive compared to local area. Also ordered battered sausage, wasn't battered. Disappointing.

Decided to have a chip barm on Saturday. Lunch time . No queues but was charged 3.70 for a stale bun and the chips had no taste and a handful only. Threw it half away.

My wife ordered batterd sausage and fish &chips half her chips had blacks on them see photos. My fish was under cooked and chips black.not be going back worst ever.

Sat 21st October 2 Fish under cooked raw in the middle disgusting batter cooked on one side, chips were like scraps with black eyes in them and over cooked, very poor indeed , Dont recommend this place!

Hubby and I had the small fish and chips for £7.50. It also included peas or curry sauce. The fish was beautiful and as one who doesn't normally eat the batter I ate every bit of this, the chips were lovely and just the right amount. Only thing that let it down were the peas. These are so cheap to make but these were very watery, more so than the curry sauce. But I'd still give it top marks as we ate it all

Good fish and chips but we waited half an hour for our food. Only when they got to our order did they put the food in the fryer. Didn't seem very organised and seemed surprised they were so busy.

Usually go here everytime but tonight’s chips were like frozen and inedible they were rock solid. Had to bin them. The fish was dripping in oil too. Not sure what’s happened tonight.

Fantastic food at fair prices, friendly staff and lovely seating area outside to enjoy our tea in the sun. 100% recommend to anyone in the area. Amazing chippy!

There was a huge queue for food at 1900hrs, but due to the "slick operation" we only waited a very short time. When our food arrived, it was just stunning. Everything was cooked to order, it was piping hot, the batter was superb as were the chips. I would recommend this place, 100%. Thank you all. Just as an afterthought, I think the whole team were all young people. Who says that youngsters don't know how to work hard? These guys & girls certainly do.

It says on their website open all day on Saturday however I was there at 16.00 and it was shut very poor

I cant review as we where recommend to call in when passing as we had a lovely family day out what better than tea from priory road chippy my daughter in law rang us as we where in the vehicle in front saying she'd just Google it and it was closed on Sunday disappointed to say the least only the see that it was actually open bit late for us by then as we'd got our tea from a chippy in town I suggest the chippy get its web site information update

Just had fish and chips absolutely delicious. What a brilliant idea to have a divider between the fish and the chips.

We will definitely be visiting again. Easy to park, easy to order and the food was ready within a few minutes. The chips were cooked well, the sausage was large and the small fish was actually a good portion size. It's very fresh and new inside. They also sell English lakes ice cream and I will probably purchase some next time it's convenient to do so. I definitely recommend it. Update: Visited yesterday after new owners had been appointed. Prices have gone up slightly but the food is very high quality. The chips were amazing but the fish was slightly on the small side for me. Very convenient and I will be visiting again.

I thought it tasted really good. Ordered fish and large chips. Other reviews said portion sizes were a bit small so went large on chips as it was only 60p more. The box with fancy dividers makes the quantities look small: if you unload it onto a plate, you suddenly realise how much there is.

Very tasty but portions are small, haggis tiny, regular chips almost as small as children's meal, our visit 13th May order No. 173 will try again but needs improvement.

Called in for a last minute tea and we weren’t disappointed. We got small fish& chips and jumbo sausage and chips. Very good portion sizes. Cooked fresh and order was ready within a couple of minutes. Would definitely recommend and return.

Amazing food! The spicy chicken burger was so good! We also loved the fish and chips and spicy bean burger. Couldn't fault it. Will be sure to visit next time we are in the area.

Smallest xl fish I've had @£8.20 very greasy, small and over priced , even charged extra 10p for a plastic fork to eat it with.

Went for chips and sausage for a change, both were very good and the chips tasted like home cooked chips. Will return again when back on another short break from Manchester.

Very disappointed with our fish and chips today. The batter was very tough and both the fish and chips looked to have been double cooked. Not a patch on previous visits.

Never tried this fish and chip shop before as it’s quite out of the way for me. First time ordering, got a regular fish and chips, the spicy bean burger and chips and kids chicken nuggets meal. Great price for the amount of food! Also a brilliant selection of vegan/vegetarian alternatives which is unusual for a fish and chip shop! New favourite 🐟 Will definitely be coming back.

Found by chance while on holiday in the area, thank you google....beautiful food, great value and lovely staff. Would definitely recommend.

We are visiting the area and had a hectic first day so decided to get takeaway fish and chips for ease. We ordered online for collection; ordered at 19.08 for collection at 19.30 and order was accepted but collection time had been changed to 19.55, we were ok with the time if that’s how long it was going to take however we had already set off and didn’t see the time change until we were there so just waited in the car park. A lot of people were pulling up, walking in and coming back out with their order so I walked in at 19.30 and asked about my order to see it was bagged up and just sat on top of the counter. The food was soggy, like warm and to be honest the fish was disgraceful for what was advertised as a Large Haddock, it’s was just say thicker than a piece of paper. Also ordered chicken nuggets which were that tough you couldn’t eat them. Definitely wouldn’t return or recommend

Decided to give it a try as usual chippy was closed. Never again. It was awful. Chips dry and like cardboard, chicken nuggets were just revolting and much more expensive. Will not be going back

Have visited Conishead Priory a few times and passed this chip shop on the way. Kept planning to call in and enjoy some fish and chips rather than go for a pub meal. Wish we hadn't bothered. The chips were soggy and greasy and the fish must have been cooked hours before. Total waste of money. Certainly won't be returning.

I can totally see why this place has won so many awards. There are multiple delicious vegan options, and the chips (which are such a nice colour and texture) are cooked in separate oil from the fish, etc. This chippy also uses eco-friendly cutlery and packaging. The staff are very friendly and informative (ideal if you have specific dietary requirements) and I was also very impressed at the value for money (good portion sizes). Best chippy in the Furness area!

Best Haddock and chips I have EVER tasted. Stopped off enroute and so glad we did. The fish was thick and tasty, batter was to died for and not at all greasy, even though fish was straight out fresh cooked, and the chips seem to have a slight coating that makes them nice and crispy. 100% well worth the money and we highly recommend a not to miss if you are in the area. ❤

Found this chippy after a quick Google on leaving safari zoo and saw the reviews. Glad we came as it didn't disappoint! 2 happy adults and 3 happy children!

I normally read reviews and then go hunting down a chip shop but this one we stumbled across by pure chance returning from Piel Island one day. Awesome 5* fish and chip shop. Recommended

Just had the best fish and chips ever. And only paid £5.80 for beautiful cod in crispy batter, hot non greasy chips and wonderful mushy peas. Very friendly staff Every thing is fresh and made to order so you may have to wait a few minutes but it is well worth it. Will definitely come again before leaving Ulverston.

I recently moved to Ulverston and was looking for some new takeouts to try. I visited Priory Plaice with the kids and ordered cod and chips, chicken nuggets and chips and a childrens fish bite meal. Great portion sizes and food was red hot and cooked fresh to order! Staff were also very friendly and polite. Will definitely be returning more often!

We popped in after a good walk, staff friendly and efficient had Cod & chips we both agreed best we've had spot on with crispy batter. Highly reccomend.

Called in this evening after the fish had been highly recommended. The fish was really inedible, being so dry, fish needs to be cooked fresh not left in a warmer to dry up. Sorry but I won't be back.

Oh my word!!! The best fish and chips in Ulverston by far. Ordered on line for collection and was greeted by friendly staff when picking up. My fish was fresh and batter delicious. Everyone else agreed that the Priory Plaice fish and chips were the best they’d had. P.S curry sauce is amazing!

The best Fish & Chips we've had for as long as I can remember, batter was lovely and crisp, fish was fresh and well sized. Chips also excellent. All very tasty and great portion size. Can't wait to go again!

Easy to find on road to Ulverston from Barrow. Small car park next door which was full. No restriction on street parking. Ordered online which was a bit fiddly but managed to get order in and paid with time slot required. Food was ready at time requested. Good fish and the 'Yorkshire' fish cakes were huge. Real fish between potato scallops battered and fried Kid's fish bites were real fish too. 1 star deducted as ordering online unnecessarily complicated. Changing things on order meant re-entering post code and selecting Priory Plaice all over again. Thankfully it hadn't lost the rest of the order and paying screen all but disappeared; had to switch to landscape mode to complete order.

Amazing cod and chips ... been to Ulverston for a week and luckily chose this chippy ... been twice and perfect cod and chips ... staff nice and highly recommend
