Went for fish and chips and the shop at haven and found it over priced. So we found flounders, much better priced and the food was great. I would recommend anyone to go here. I didn't try the Chinese options but the menu for it was large and must cater for most people. Only thing to note is that it's cash only. But go to the post office next door and it's free cash withdrawal.

Awsome awsome awsome food was delicious the specials was delicious battered black pudding the chineese food was delicious aswell wish we would have gone there at the begining of the holiday if it wasn't 5 hours drive for me to go there would be there weekly

Absolutely horrendous dinner, Chinese with chippy chips and rice was very starchy and soggy. Our youngest was unfortunately up all night vomiting. I will say great service on phone when ordering though and very pleasant staff when picking order up.

Came here twice as staying at haven. Once as a chip shop and once as a Chinese. Both were awful. First time was the chip shop and they forgot part of the order in which my partner had to go back and retrieve and sacrifice his very awful burger as it turned out. The fish could have been good but everything left a horrible after taste. The lard was so thick in my mouth I had to brush my mouth very hard to scrape the fat off. 2nd try at chinese version after a busy day, we though why not? Maybe this is where the money is made. Don't think so..... they took the order and preceded to laugh when my partner was present the whole time while bleaching the counter because it was near closing time which by the way is 9pm. Where we are standard Chinese shut down is 11pm(we are a small town). They kept laughing, which made my partner feel very uncomfortable, they gave him his order which was, I suppose standard pricing. Got back to our holiday home and it was just the most single awful Chinese I've ever had. I have read other reviews and they are very different. Some say its great. Either the shop is inconsistent, people have poor taste or they pick and choose who they serve good food too. Proper let down. I mean REALLY?

We found this place by chance whilst staying at Haven Lakeland. Shame we found it at the end of the week instead of the beginning. It looks like a chippy from the outside but they also sell Chinese. If I was to compare this chippy to the one on site at Haven I would recommend you give Havens a wide berth and come here instead. It’s a 5min drive away and well worth it! (note, it only accepts cash and not card)

Staff very polite. Fish and chips and tasty, however, the chinese foid we had was not good. Crispy Beef chewy Sweet & sour chicken not good. Chicken was dry and sauce was yuk Egg fried rice was awful. The grains were overcooked and quite mushy. Didn't enjoy it and threw good portions away

The shop staff are helpful and the meal was great the best one I've eaten. We had special fried rice and special chow mein Go and findout out yourself

We were staying at the haven lakeland caravan and touring park which as a very good papa johns pizza parlour and a cookes fish and chips take away.After being "fleeced" at a cookes on a previous haven site(£24 for a verry small fish & chips) i vowed i would never use them again.The flounders fish & chippie + chinese food was £17 for a much larger fish & chips previously bought from cookes.

A mix of Chinese and fish and chip shop. Fab menu. I got sweet and sour chicken with honey ribs and chips. Bloomin gorgeous. Great staff. Busy little shop but always enough food for everyone. Close to haven site and Flookburgh locals. Cash only. Shop over the road has a cash machine.

Good quality food cooked fresh to order. Would recommend phone ordering before going to collect as it does get busy.

Very very good fish and chips. The batter was perfect, the haddock beautifully flaky and the chips great. Portion sizes reasonable and good value for money. Highly recommended.

Was staying at the haven holiday site, who’s chippy wasn’t great! Saw this one, and tried it, 100% better! Fish was lovely, family went for Chinese, son loved sweet and sour chicken balls with rice! Wish we’d found it earlier in the week! Would recommend to everyone!!!!

Not the best chippy in the world. But 100% better than any on site haven chip shop.. Chips seems to be cooked before and then put back in the frier. Fish a bit on the greasy side. But had plenty of flavour and was not skimpy on size either. Would go back again.

Food was proper disappointing. Boiled rice for ‘egg fried rice’ S&P chicken was rock hard and overdone, curry sauce was cold and lacked flavour. Black bean beef and Chicken in Szechuan sauce also lacked any real flavour. S&P chips were the best part. Really disappointing and would avoid spending your money here if staying on Haven.

Excellent fish and chips cooked to order.

We were staying this week at the Meadow’s End Lodges near by and came across this fish & chip shop/Chinese by chance, while passing it on the road on the way back to our lodge. We had some excellent chinese food to takeaway but the Chicken curry must be the best I have ever tasted. Well worth a visit if you are on holiday near by. Date of visit 25/4/24... Cash only.

Lovely chinese food. If you were to drive by you would think was just a fish + chips shop but they do chinese food too. Handy for if you are staying at Lakeland Caravan Park.

We had Chinese food here . It was delicious and really reasonably priced. Quick and efficient service. Really impressed.

Absolutely massive portion sizes with amazing flavours. If I’m ever in the area again we’ll be visiting. Reasonable prices, especially as it’s near a lot of tourist spots. Impressed.

If you are staying on the Haven Lakeland Park what ever you do don,t go to Cooks the onsite Chippy, get in your Car and go to Flounders it,s cheaper and it tastes a whole lot better

Went for the first time as new in the area but I won’t be returning. Bought fish and chips x2 the fish was overdone, greasy hard and chewy and probably left over from lunch time. Very unfair as take away food is not cheap and for most people a treat but unfortunately a disappointing meal. My partner threw his in the bin and made an egg sandwich.

My husband went to get two portions of chips this evening. Worst chips I've had from there absolutely awful!!! They had obviously been warmed up from this afternoon.We were regulars. Will never visit there again!! I will also advise others not to visit there either. Well done Flounders.

Decided to try here while at staying at Haven Lakeland. Pretty average chippy and Chinese. Chinese food was nice, curry being a highlight. The rest was quite average. Overall good location for the haven site though!

Best fish n chips I've ever had, 100% recommended. you won't be disappointed, the portions was quite large for the price I paid it was really cheap. It was good food and well worth every penny I paid

Excellent banquet for two . Tasted beautiful , lovely and hot , lots of meat and sauce . Well worth the money Would recommend 👌

Shop bought frozen chips would be 20 x better. The chips are dry white under good. 3 of us ate them 1 left most of the (me) the other said Asda frozen chips are way better and the other person said I bet these chips are stored in dry white possibly bought in from a supplier Franky 1 out of 100 would be a kind score THE WORST chips ever. Why can’t a chip shop sell good food it’s not cheap yet is very poor quality.

We had a fish/chip meal one night and a Chinese meal the next, delicious, well cooked and friendly staff.

Superb quality good, we chose to have a Chinese take away and it was great. This place doubles up as a fish and chip shop, gets really busy so try and phone through your orders. Highly recommended

This is a unique chippy as it also doubles as a chinese takeaway, both sides of the business the food is cooked fresh and you get great portions, the prices are reasonable and the place is clean, defo give it a try.

Decent chippy near the camp site where we were staying. It is different to chippy's where I live. they take your order as you walk in the door and then you wait and they serve in order. This is fine in one sense as you know where you're upto but if the person in front of you places a large order and you just want a portion of chips then you'll have to wait until the large order is done and then they will serve you. At chippy's where I live they will serve the small orders whilst the larger orders are being cooked, it is a more efficient to work this way. That aside it is a good chippy with tasty food and that is the be all and end all

Went here on 02/08/2023 and ordered my family a big chippy tea. I had fish and chips which tasted normal at the time. The chippy was really busy and I was waiting on one thing for a while to be put into my bag until my order was then handed over to me (not sure what item this was) I had the meal at 8pm and by 2am in the morning I couldn’t sleep with tummy pains and felt sick. By 9am in the morning the next day I was sick. I am never unwell or poorly and I can only put this sickness down to the fish on my order with food poisoning, which I have never experienced before. I had to spend the next day in bed on my haven holiday to recover which resulted in me missing out on family time with the kids. I started to feel better over 24 hours later. I am positive I was waiting for my fish and chips to go in the bag last for my order to be completed. This would of meant the fish wasn’t fully cooked due to how busy the place was. This chippy was really busy and the queue was going out the door. All my other family’s meals were ok but they didn’t have fish like I did so they wasn’t unwell.

Only had a portion of chips and curry sauce. Both were lovely but the portion size is shocking! Ordered a large chips to go round 4 of us as this is usually more than enough at most chippies, it was more like a cone of chips. Service was quick and friendly.

Ordered some food from here today and I must say it's absolutely delicious! The service is quite quick around 20 minutes, but the food is cooked while you wait. It is busy but is very worthwhile. We will be visiting again whilst up this way.

Everything was lovely chips were a little over done.

Ordered a set meal for 4 along with a large portion of chips. There was 5 of us and plenty to go around. It was really busy but they were very friendly and accurate when it would be ready. Would happily recommend if you are looking for a takeaway.

If you happen to come on holiday to Haven and don't want to pay their rip off prices and suffer their poor service COME HERE instead. This feels like a local favourite and is packed to the rafters every night. The fish and chips are delicious and were ready within 30 minutes of us ordering! We came back for the Chinese and were not disappointed, all items were mouth wateringly good, kids loved it which is rare with Chinese food! Finally the prices are very reasonable indeed, it cost us less than 20 quid for fish and chips for a family of 4! Thank you to the brilliant staff, we will be back.

100% recommend. Beautiful flakey fish with perfect chips and a side off peas. Children’s meals our the perfect portions; my child ate the lot. Will be returning again when in the area next and be definitely telling friends :)

The Chinese food here is delicious, and we will be back next year for more when we stay at the Haven Caravan Park near it..

Was staying at haven down the road read the good reviews and wanted to try food was of a decent standard but the portion size is terrible. The meals the plastic dishes come in vary in size not sure why and even the the dishes are not full with sauce you get very little for the money you pay. I think this place must live on passing trade as not much else in the area. They need to either lower the prices or increase the portion size and start adding the correct amount of sauce you are paying for.

Brilliant chippie which also serves Chinese takeaway. No inside dining but food always hot when you get home. Never had a bad meal from there. Staff are very friendly and efficient.

We were staying on the haven holiday park and decided to try the Chinese takeaway at flounders fish and chip shop. It was lovely. Hot, tasty and good value.

They have got good fish and their large cod was really large and tasty. But would recommend to consume as soon as you get them. They don't have dine area so you might need to eat in car or near by park. They also do nice Chinese meals or dishes.

Regular visitor to Flounders and sorry to say the quality of the fish and chips is never guaranteed. Last week lovely Crispy batter on the fish and nice chips, today soggy chips, soggy under cooked batter. Great for Chinese food but need to improve the quality of the fish & chips. Expensive too.

Local chippy to haven camp. Everything we ate was lovely,fish perfect and Chinese meals were lovely to, definitely recommended to try here.

Neutral rating. "Cash Only" payment at till meant that we were unable to actually try any of the food on offer. Note that there is no local cash point, so NO CASH = NO FOOD ....Not a great situation to find yourself in with a group of hungry tummies to feed!

100% 5 star rating!!! We recently stayed on the Haven site which is a few minutes drive from the site to Flounders in Flookburgh. We only discovered this Fish and Chip shop a few nights in to our stay. We eat from here twice and both times our food was excellent. We had fish and chips our first night, which, was lovely. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive, we walked away saying how lovely the staff were. We eat here a second time and had Chinese. I am very picky with Chinese food BUT this was amazing. We had sweet and sour, boiled rice, Singapore vermicelli noodles, prawn toast, duck rolls, chips and curry sauce, and, every single dish was gorgeous, no grease and so tasty. Again the staff on this visit were lovely. To add to all of this, the prices were great. We will definitely be visiting again next time we are in the Lakes and would highly recommend.

Called in several times during our 2 week stay in Cark what a fantastic menu as it pleased everyone's taste English, Chinese, Vegetarian and children's options. Wish you where closer to home but that wouldn't be good for the waistline.

The best fish, chips and mushy peas ever

Some of the best Chinese takeaway I've had in years. These guys do proper 'salt and pepper chips' unlike many, and their singapore vermicelli is amazing. Friendly staff as well. Top notch.

Decent food and really honest staff! Misread the menu do to not having glasses on and once she had her glasses on and realised her error she rectified it instant. With me not being aware of the mistake in the 1st place. So honest thank you!

This chip shop cooks in vegetable oil and lists every item suitable. Lovely chips peas Andy loads of scraps. The portions are big so if on a diet .or like smaller amounts go for the small options which are still plenty. This place is also a Chinese.

Everything was cooked fresh and was delicious. The 2nd night we had the Chinese and it was one of the best I have had. It wasn't grease and once again very fresh. Would 100 % recommend this place and lovely people that ran it.

We have had fish and chips from here literally once every week for minutes and they WERE excellent but about 3 or 4 weeks ago all 3 of us said to each other OMG the chips look hardly cooked and the fish batter seemed soggy oily and not that well cooked. I specifically said the last time I was there that the chips were white and please could they be well done to brown them up but even after asking they were very poor. I put to the chip shop something has changed im thinking they are trying to save energy by cooking at a lower temperature or maybe they have changed the cooking oil for a lesser quality oil. I live locally and prior to last going to the Chippy the person I was talking to said ‘wow we aren’t going again they have changed something and we aren’t going again’ it’s a shame but now we are thinking no it’s not what it was and we’ve had them 3 times now in a poor state so god knows what’s happened but SOMETHING HAS CHANGED.

From our first phone call to place order, the young lad was very polite and friendly. Once in shop he was very polite with everyone. The food cooked was hot and tasty and worth every penny. Great food and great prices. Thank you all flounders team

Beautiful - great variety and chips where beautiful. I love Chinese food but my husband doesn’t. It’s normally a nightmare finding a chippy and then a Chinese to cater for us both - this was just great. We really enjoyed it. The staff seemed friendly enough too and we were there on a busy Friday evening. If your in the area I would definitely recommend going here.

Fish batterd and cooked perfectly, chips also really good and crisp fluffy in the middle and the oil used was noticeably fresh. Prices are very reasonable and the amount of chips i got was just too much. Props to the young lad working in there! Good lad👍🏻

Flounders was recommended to me whilst staying in another village about 10 mins away. Ordered a variety of Chinese dishes which were cooked fresh (delicious smells from the kitchen) & then took it back home to eat. Was still piping hot when I got back...

got a great banquet takeaway meal for 2 in this chippie which also does Chinese takeaway!!, was on holiday and this was a welcome find.
