Great food & drink at reasonable prices. Super friendly staff. Amazing views from the terrace on a warm sunny evening too.

Welcome to restaurant was good, shown to our table, 2 off the 4 main course (mussels ) were cold, duck exceptionally small portion even for a 12 year old, and my steak and chip tough and completely tasteless. My daughter had just finished when the waitress tried to take her plate away whilst the 3 other diners were still eating! That bad, we decided to leave and go to Avanti for our dessert, We certainly will not be returning for food to this second rate establishment

This should be a four or even a five but I couldn't push myself further than a three star! The beer and wine choice was great, good service provided and very clean inside too. The menu was offering a good variety of food. Sunday roast! You can't beat a Sunday roast right? Those hot roast potatoes, a fair portion of beef? Nice hot Yorkshire pudding? Steaming veg? Plenty of gravy and extra roast potatoes? It wasn't quite there. It felt more like a small taster meal! Or a meal made for a small child then mistakenly passed to the adult! There were two roast potatoes! Yes two!! One small to medium sized and one small! The veg was Luke warm and the Yorkshire pudding was room temperature! Two thin slices of beef underneath it. It looked like more beef was there but I soon realised two slices it was! At a pound under twenty five pounds for the meal I was disappointed! There is definitely a decent chef in the kitchen but the lack of food for a traditional Sunday roast was shocking! I was still hungry after the meal which was a shame! I know it's tough in the catering world but please give us some value for our hard earned money!

We visited for breakfast whilst passing through the area, the cafe was full (always a good sign!) and we were pleased to get a table. There was a good menu with lots of choice for veggies and vegans as well as plenty for meat eaters. I had avocado and chickpeas with poached eggs which was tasty and generously sized. Hubby’s breakfast ciabatta seemed to contain all sorts as expected. Coffee good too. Will visit again when next passing through.

After a long walk, (you know when your legs are like jelly and you're a bit delirious), the Three Hares Cafe was a caramel-packed safehaven. I've visited hundreds of cafes (and reviewed a fair few on here) and the negative reviews are a little baffling. Yes, the scones look burnt but they are airy light and a welcome companion to a brew. Funnily enough, they probably know how to make a decent scone given the expertise across the road at the Black Bull Inn. It is a small cafe, only a few tables, that doubtless gets filled quickly but Sedbergh has alternatives nearby if you're stuck. They nailed my preference for a caramel slice (90% oozing caramel) and the pies and other bits we took home all hit the spot. Special mention for their donuts. They look like giant charred cannon balls that ooze jam. Glorious when warmed up.

We visited on Saturday, September 28th, 2024. We ended up here after an abortive breakfast at Caulty and then again at the closed Stone Close Tea Room in Dent. Looking at the menu, it seemed a bit pricey and non-standard for a cafe. The offerings in the fridge were not inspiring, so we selected the fancy sausage roll. I asked for them to be heated, and when delivered, they were only partially heated, with cold parts and a poor-quality taste. We were offering chips randomly but when delivered it seemed they had been pre-cooked and flash-fried as well as pre-salted bizarrely. These were very dark and greasy. If the Stone Close Tea room is closed next visit I suggest you go hungry or try the cafe in the Museum rather than visit here.

Poor experience overall. Extremely greasy, overpriced and the man serving is nothing short of rude. This is a real shame as the previous owners had this place nailed on. It was once a real asset but sadly no more. Literally had to step around a barrel of used fat which was left in the waiting area for some reason. Won't be rushing back The adjacent cafe (same premises/business) also had the owners dog running loose. Not hygienic in the slightest.
