Was in the area for the first time and stopped in. Me, my mum and her old friends who were visiting from over seas all were blown away by the warm atmosphere and beautiful views of the park all around. The restaurant is beautiful, and the staff were so friendly and polite. We stopped for a coffee and ended up staying for lunch! Couldn’t resist after seeing what was coming from the kitchen! If you’re ever in the area I couldn’t recommend this place enough - food was delicious, menu has great options and the service was excellent. And a kind thank you to the lovely welsh woman who served us, we felt very looked after. PS - the loos were also spick and span !😊

I visited with 3 friends on Monday 19th December for a fabulously fresh festive afternoon tea and a wonderful time. We were warmly greeted into the tea lounge, which was packed to the rafters with a large party and many other tables were taken too. There was a warm and cosy festive feel, with christmas music adding to the great atmosphere. Although the lovely staff were kept very busy, they were happy, smiling and nothing was too much trouble and we were soon seated with a festive drink in hand, which is a lovely idea and makes The Nantwich Tea Lounge afternoon tea stand out from the rest. When our bulging stands of festive goodies arrived at the table, it was very clear that everything was freshly made, with an assortment of sandwiches, which included turkey & cranberry, roast beef & horseradish and cheese & pickle, with a tasty mini sausage roll. Then we started on the layer of beautifully home baked scones with clotted cream & strawberry jam. After that we moved onto our delicately made cakes, which are lovingly created in house, (unlike in other places, where they come straight from the packet) which included a decadent chocolate truffle, a mini mince pie with a soft sponge top, a homemade glass of sherry trifle - which was simply divine. But we were defeated by the gorgeous white chocolate & orange cup cakes and had to box them up to take home. The photo I have posted shows a stand shared between 2. There was loads of goodies and it was all delicious! Without doubt this was an extra special luxurious, delicious afternoon which I would highly recommend and repeat any day of the week. Thank you to the staff, who were so friendly and helpful. If you haven't visited yet, make sure you do!

Awful experience in here yesterday. With in 10 seconds of trying to order a drink I was made to feel about 2" tall. I asked the barman if he had any gluten free beers on draft and he bluntly said no. No alternatives offered or anything, he then abruply pointed me to the half empty fridge where he said there might be a gluten free beer in. I asked if he knew what beers are gluten free in the fridge to which he replied "I don't know you will have to look through them all." He then proceeded to try and look over me to the person behind to try and serve them. The level of service was diabolical and as a venue offering food and drinks it is expected that your staff know what they are selling and what allergens are in the products you are selling. I would not trust this venue again and would not recommend anyone with an allergy goes here. It is certainly not a coeliac friendly venue and they don't care. After having a bottle of cider we decided to leave and go elsewhere. Said barman was coming in from the outside and not even a thank you have a good day or anything, it was clear we where leaving as all four of us walked towards the exit. The other barman behind the bar equally didn't even say thanks or anything. Having worked in bars and restaurants myself the level of service was shocking. I know that you will probably come back and say oh sorry about this we had been busy, but in all honesty it wasn't that busy and there is no excuse for letting service slip to such a shoddy standard especially when it comes to things like allergens. You are selling products to people you should know your product and actively want to sell it, not think "oh this person has an allergen we don't want them here" or "oh they are an inconvenience I'll give them bad service" at a time where budgets are squeezed and business is struggling you would think every customer counts... Not here. Upon leaving we went to the beer emporium where the staff where more than happy to go and get the gluten free options out of the fridge and talk me through them. This is how it should be done. Again I do not recommend this place if you have allergies and I won't be returning. It is one of the most unfriendly places to visit with an allergy I have ever been to.

We went on a surprisingly quiet Sunday afternoon and sat in the garden , I ordered at the bar a starter of scotch egg and 2 roast beef , scotch egg came in about 10 - 15 minutes and was ok but at £10.25 a tad expensive. I had to ask for cutlery and napkins , around us on 1 table was a table of glasses and a table with 2 empty plates with nobody sat there . We waited 25-30 minutes for starter to be cleared but I ended up taking it in and gave the staff who were gathered by the bar a little nudge that we were outside and had they forgotten us ?? Another 15 minutes past and the dinners came which were quite tasty and plentiful, again had to ask for cutlery, still tables were left dirty around us and we had no check back at all . All in all poor service on a quiet shift , hence no tip , maybe it was a bad day at the office which we all have from time to time.

I went for lunch with my friend and thought it was lovely. The oatcake with goats cheese and red onion marmalade was superb. We were able to sit outside in the sunshine which made the experience even more pleasant. I shall definitely return with my family. We have only recently moved to the area so I am delighted to have found The Old Barn.
