We arrived at this lovely cafe, just before 2.30pm on Sunday, just as they were about to finish serving food. However, they said they could feed us, which was so kind of them. We absolutely loved the cafe - the ambience, the staff and the food. Well worth all the five star reviews they have received.

Hadn't visited for a while and new owners I think; genuinely friendly people, happily chatting with the customers. My friend and I plumped for the sausage breakfast bap and it was outstanding in every way. So good in fact that I came back three days later with family and friends. Get there early if you want to avoid the cyclists and their mud and their lycra, they clogged up the place like they clog up the roads. Be back soon.

Perfect coffee and fresh high quality ingredients made into delicious meals by people who understand food. The coffee is carefully made to preserve the natural crema with not even a hint of bitterness or burnt taste that's so often an issue with cafe coffee. Also had a sausage, tomato and egg barm, high quality ingredients served in a freshly made bread roll - proper bread - absolutely delicious. Keep up the good work, Erica!

I took my mum to The Old Barn in Marton, for afternoon tea yesterday to celebrate her birthday. What a pleasure and joy the whole experience was. I cannot recommend this little cafe highly enough. It really is the best around by a country mile. From start to finish the experience was outstanding. I have been a few times now and it’s always been fantastic weather for a coffee and cake, lunch or an ice cream. The owner and all her staff are lovely - so relaxed, friendly, professional and welcoming. You have to book ahead for an afternoon tea, upon which you can give your dietary requirements - everything is catered for, and also your preferences!! I always go with their recommendations and you will not be disappointed. We had the most delightful bruschetta with hummus and harissa which was delicious. There was a savoury cheese scone with a ploughman’s filling and the most exquisite onion chutney, delicately spiced. We then had four varieties of finger sandwiches - each made with fresh, soft bread and the most fluffy and light fillings. The cheese and onion, and cucumber, cream cheese and dill dressing sandwiches were our favourites. They were remarkable. The chicken and avocado finger sandwiches were also yummy. Moving on…there was mini chocolate eclairs with the freshest and lightest of cream, chewy macaroons to die for - they were divine, moist and unctuous Victoria Sandwich, the most flavoursome and sweet strawberries ever! I haven’t tasted strawberries that good in years!! And of course floaty light and moist fresh scones with clotted cream and jam!! I can’t tell you how good every single thing was. Everything was considered and thought though. All was homemade. It truely was a triumph! I have had lots of afternoon teas in many establishments over the years, including rather expensive ones in top hotels but this is the best I’ve ever had. I don’t think it can be beat - it was that good. Incredible value for money. You can upgrade and have Prosecco too. They also do gift vouchers for their afternoon teas which I can whole heartedly recommend. I can’t imagine a better gift. Any recipient would not be disappointed. Spot on. Thank you The Old Barn. I will be back! Note: they’ll also package up anything you can’t manage for you to take home!!

What a wonderful cafe the Old Barn is! Both waitresses were very friendly, efficient & smiley. The food was exceptional & cooked to a very high standard. The chips were quite simply the best I have ever tasted & I’ve had a lot in 50 odd years. The cheese & onion pie was delicious…the pastry & the filling. The cakes looked scrumptious but we were too full. Next time!

Fabulous service as always alongside delicious homecooked food. We were a party of 10 including 4 children and everybody enjoyed their lunch. Ed’s steak and ale pie, roast pork and stuffing sandwich, and eggs Benedict were all perfect and of a high quality. We especially appreciated how accommodating they were for the young children in our group, even making a special lunch for the weaning baby. We visited on a busy Saturday lunchtime but service was fantastic and we did not feel rushed. See you again soon!

Quite frankly, the best chips I have ever tasted, I'm not really a chip person but we came in December after a recommendation from our biker Friends and we were not disappointed then but this weekend the chips and steak sandwich were awesome, very nice staff not at all fazed by a load of bikers landing for food. Very full inside so we sat outside and the food arrived very quickly and was lovely. Can highly recommend.

I used to stop here all the time when cycling, and the place has just been renamed "the barn cafe" for some reason, but it's the same owner I'm told. The pies are absolutely excellent, and the breakfasts also very good, but the younger staff members aren't especially well trained which leads to delays and confusion at busy times. The cakes are also really good, but I would really like to see a dedicated gluten free menu. The branding is now new which I'm sad about as the "Chapeau!" brand was very widely known. But, I would recommend for the food. Only real negative is the door! It won't open fully and is stuff when it reache the half way point which means its easy to bang your arm/shoulder on it when you think it's going to open wider than it is.

Ordered a diet coke & cappuccino, waited at least 30mins & no drinks arrived went back inside to ask if they'd forgotten our order to which they said they had & apologised. Reordered & waited another 10/15 mins & still no drinks. At this point we decided it'd be quicker to go home & make our own. We’ve visited before and enjoyed the wide menu but there was less choice today and a number of staple items (eg excellent signature pies, fish finger rolls) were surprisingly unavailable at 12.45 when we ordered. We tried the loaded chips which were very tasty and a generous portion size. The caked looked amazing as always but we managed to resist. There’s a change to the layout in that the farm shop is closed but seems to be taking off as a games venue at the weekend. I think the management has changed from what we heard from the waitress.

Chapeau do the most fabulous breakfast but be warned it is big... sausages, bacon, eggs, Black pudding, mushrooms, beans, tomatoes, toast and tea. It was piping hot, plentiful and extremely tasty. Chapeau is a popular hot spot for cyclists calling to recharge their batteries with a pot of tea and slice of cake. If you like cake you will love it here as there are lots of delicious choices. Food on the expensive side for a cafe and limited menu but reasonable parking and nice clean environment. Food is pleasant but even sandwich and a cuppa come up pricey for a lunch at a small cafe. Went for Lunch at the Chapeau Cafe, a favourite of my husband and his cycling club - Chorlton Revolutionists but i had never been there. Well that will now be a thing of the past. What a fabulous, charming cafe with super cheerie helpful staff. What lovely clean premises. On entry i desired a pie - unfortunately all the home made chicken & mushroom pies had already been scoffed. So i ordered a burger with stilton & bacon served with tripple cooked chips, salad and homemade coleslaw - it was superb. The burger was surrounded by a beautiful bread cob, there was thick tasty bacon on it with a generous amount of stilton cheese and also a lovely caramelised chutney. Can't believe i managed to eat it all. Beautifully cooked, wonderfully presented. Don't think you could go wrong at all here. Thank You Chef and Staff.

We discovered Chapeau! when looking for somewhere to go for a Sunday breakfast – what a lucky find! I had the full English breakfast and enjoyed every mouthful. The menu was extensive, lots of choices for breakfast from a teacake to the Full Monty, sandwiches, 3 quiches of the day, various soups of the day, and a tempting range of homemade cakes on the counter. There was a large choice of hot and cold soft drinks, wines and beer. Far more choice of food and drink than you’d expect from a humble café. Plus – there is a farm shop on-site! We bought the Sultana & Treacle cookies (12 for £1.90) – they were delicious!I was also pleasantly surprised by the nappy changing facilities. The toilets were clean and fresh, and rather pretty. The waitresses were really lovely too.It was a bit chilly when we arrived mid-morning. The radiators were switched on though, it’s just a cold building. Despite this our food stayed hot, as did my tea, which was still hot in the pot 45 minutes later. I was much warmer when I’d finished. I would suggest that the chairs all have cushions on – I found a cushion on one of the chairs which did take the edge off.

I visited Chapeau! on Saturday. When I pulled up in the car park I noticed it was extremely busy but I considered this to be a good sign as I heard good things about the cafe. I had a sausage barm which I had to wait half an hour for. I didn't mind this as it was really good and you can tell it was freshly made! I was served by lovely staff who were friendly and helpful and presented the cafe well. However I noticed they were struggling to cope with handling the shear amount of food orders coming through and were having to deal with some complaints about waiting times which I considered to be unfair as the you could tell the food was fresh cooked. I really think it might be beneficial if there were more waiting on staff as when the cafe was full 3 wasn't really enough to do all the things required. However I still really enjoyed my visit and will definitely be returning!

We have been regular customers at the Chapeau for three or four years now and I never thought to write a review, that's not strictly true, I didn't write a review as didn't want to share the good news, selfish I know, but some things are not meant to be shared and this place is right up there with Champagne and strawberries or truffle chocs. Anyway then, we came back in July for lunch and I had a bowl of french onion soup and it was spectacular, better than the restaurant at Gare du Nord station in Paris 30 years ago which has been a yardstick for FOS. So now I had a new favourite and I just had to tell everyone, why couldn't they have just made an excellent soup instead of blowing my mind. So go and try this place it is very, very good, Order the FOS and if if it's not on the menu then gently complain. It's not a cafe, it's not a restaurant, it's a place that sells great food.

The breakfasts were so lovely and with free top ups of tea such great value for money. I had the Welsh Rarebit which I have to say was the best I'd ever tasted.. Just perfect! Others had a variety of eggs, sausages, bacon, mushrooms, tomatoes, black pudding, salmon...So much choice and all cooked to perfection.Thank you Chapeau, we'll come back and visit again next time we go to win the cup

Have just visited this Cafe on a Sunday drive out, asked to wait for twenty minute for a food, not a problem , we where not in a rush 35 mins later no food, had to ask why the food was not at the table, few minutes later it arrived , if you had waited 35mins 1 Welsh Rarebit, 1 Breakfast, 1 Eggs Benedict youWould expect the food to be hot.Eggs Benedict was solid, eggs and sauce were congealed, all the food was cold, we said we would leave it. I was not paying for cold food and a 35 min wait.My wife, daughter and I where challenged by the manager on the way out, "We need a conversation" see said , we explained the problem, she spoke across us every time we spoke, she was so rude and was not interested in listen to us. Her. parting sentence was " You better go somewhere that meets you expectations " RudeIt turns out that this manager is one of the directors, shame on you for poor customer service and bad food

Have to say that this is probably one of my most favourite places to have lunch and visited often over the last 12 months and whenever I go I'm not disappointed. Lovely fresh food always beautifully cooked, presented well and generous portions. Only downside is they don't open in the evenings or do Sunday lunch.

Stumbled across Chapeau on the way home and enjoyed a delicious cup of coffee and slice of cake. Deli style food looked delicious and we'll certainly be back to sample very soon. Only downside was the restaurant was cold and had to keep my coat on!

Arrived with a group of 10 cycle friends, as this is a specialist cafe for cyclists, only to find many other cyclists there and the cafe was full. The owner and staff were very welcoming and set up tables and chairs in the farm shop for us. Despite the cafe being full we were served quickly. I found the food prices a little more expensive than most local cafes, but the quality of the food was very good. Well worth a visit

I visited Chapeau! with two friends for a spot of lunch. On arrival the staff were very welcoming, smiley and friendly. All of our meals were of excellent quality, freshly prepared, hot and extremely delicious! The cafe is delightfully decorated, clean and cosy! It was my second visit to chapeau! but the first time i have eaten there. I will definitely be returning and have been recommending the cafe to friends! I need to sample the lovely cakes that were on display!

Myself and a few of my friends popped into chapeau for a spot of lunch. The staff were very helpful especially when it came to accommodating my friends special dietary requirements. There's a good selection of very reasonably priced food on the menu and the selection of cakes was awesome. We will definitely be back soon!

We visited chapeau recently with friends for lunch. Not a greasy spoon in sight, all of our meals were freshly cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious. I would definitely recommend the steak and ale pie, but all of the specials looked fabulous and portion sizes are generous.Service was with a smile - our order was taken and we were served our drinks within minutes of sitting down, but weren't rushed out like we have experienced at other cafes on busy Saturday lunchtimes. Definitely have a browse in the farm shop, I can never manage to leave without something taking my fancy! I tried the salt and vinegar "slabs" at weekend which were very different but delicious!

I visited the cafe yesterday with my mum and daughter for mum's birthday treat...what a lovely friendly place! This is the third time i have visited and wont be the last. From the moment we arrived we were greeted with lovely staff who couldn't do enough for us. My mum is a fussy eater and was guaranteed to be picky but i have to say, its the first time Ive seen her clear her plate! We ordered a combination of quiche and club sandwiches between us...the crispy potato skins were delicious as was the quiche. The wait time, approx 20 mins, was as expected given they only serve freshly cooked food and you could tell...so much so that my mum purchased some sausage rolls from the shop (connected to the cafe) for her supper...Ive never seen so much meat in a sausage roll...must get that recipe!i kindly asked the young waitress if they would make a fuss of my mum, given it was her birthday and she was only too happy to oblige...bringing a beautiful slice of cake just for her...unfortunately my daughter had to help her finish it as she was full from dinner, but from the gleam on mums face, she had a lovely time. Thanks Chapeau for making her birthday special, will definitely see you again soonhighly recommended

I've eaten here twice in the last few weeks and both times had poor food and/or service. The first visit, I ordered a quiche. This seemed to have been nuked in a microwave then stuck under a grill to fake being freshly cooked. I would rather have had a cold or room temperature quiche than the half-burnt chewy offering that I was presented with. On my second visit I ordered a club sandwich. First mistake was to order a club sandwich which had chicken and chorizo - why use fatty chorizo when bacon is obviously being used regularly for the breakfasts? Then we had to wait over half an hour to be served, although when we arrived for lunch the place was nearly empty. We hadn't been asked if we wanted white or brown bread so it arrived in white factory bread. In future I will go to the Davenport Arms opposite this cafe, where I have had a number of good meals served by pleasant staff, for similar prices. And no, I have no connection or interest in the Davenport Arms, I just object to being ripped off for poor food served by disinterested staff.

Visited Chapeau on Sunday with 9 members of my family to celebrate a birthday. We had booked in advance and had a table reserved for us. Even though there were a few of us and others in the cafe we did not have to wait long for our meals and the waitress made sure we had drinks as soon as we arrived. As usual the food was delicious and it went down very well with a small bottle of prosecco. We will be back very soon.

Second review. Same waiting staff. Not helpful and to be honest attitude is rude. Only 4 small tables in for breakfast on Saturday morning. We waited for 40 mins for food, it never came and then we needed to go, so we asked it to be a take away. They said for a further 10 mins it was coming, and eventually came. Maybe it was fault expecting to go in and get served and eat within 40 mins, but how hard can a breakfast be? Really disappointed as you are so local and the food is so good. A very frustrated customer.

Found myself in the vicinity of Chapeau! whilst working, and knew of it (from social media) but have never considered it, as everything I have read on SM has been all about the cycling community. As I was in need of a bite to eat and a coffee, I decided to bite the bullet and venture into the 'cyclist domain' .......... I mean, how territorial can cyclists be on a weekday lunchtime???Imagine my surprise when I was warmly welcomed and shown to a table - even with my CAR parked at the door!!!Seriously though, the food was lovely and my dietry requirements were noted and catered to exactly! The coffee was delicious and the cakes looked amazing (althogh I managed to resist)The farm shop is well stocked with sensibly priced goods including a great GF range.I will ceratinly be back now I know this place isnt JUST for cyclists, but I do wonder how many other people like me havent visited because of the same reasons?Come on guys - how about including us non-bikers in your FB posts................ I think you are missing a huge trick here :)

The Yellow Broom is best described as a blend of pure elegance with a splash of sophistication. The setting is undeniably beautiful, complemented by a warm welcome from the staff, who are clearly well-trained in delivering exceptional silver service. The menu offers a well-balanced selection of cuisine, ensuring there's something to delight every palate. The presentation of the dishes was nothing short of exquisite, and the flavors were simply delightful. The staff were remarkably attentive without being intrusive, striking the perfect balance between friendliness and professionalism. The atmosphere and layout of the restaurant were both appealing and comfortable, enhancing the overall dining experience. The Yellow Broom is a truly first-class establishment that consistently maintains high standards. I highly recommend a visit—you will not be disappointed.

The lady who runs it was welcoming insightful and charming. She gets all her meat from the local butcher which is first class. She was passionate about food and her recommendations dovetailed beautifully. My sister ate the mushrooms on toast, which she gave me to try. The mushrooms were cooked to perfection and the sauce was a perfect blend of flavour and consistency. They were really good, the lady who sat next to us has been coming for years and also recommended them, it was easy to see why. I myself had the brie and bacon ciabatta with chutney. The chutney was cooked in a slightly curried sauce which was lovely. Although I would have liked a slightly sweeter sauce maybe blueberries to cut through the mild salt in the bacon and brie but it was excellent none the less. Three breakfasts and pot's of tea for £14 per person was incredible value. I finally remembered years ago taking my daughter here for her birthday lunch and she kept asking me to take her to the place with the train running overhead, I couldn't remember at the time but she'll be overjoyed to hear I've found it. Fantastico, grazie.
